You can pretty much get through all of solo pve with staff/scepter + lightning hammer (swap for ice bow when dealing with destructibles aka walls, roadblocks, towers, dragons) + signet of air (for speed boost) + cantrip (mist form, flash, armor of earth)
I do not understand why unsteady ground is not a combo field though…it functions in a very similar manner to fire wall.
Maybe cuz we don’t have a category for earth fields. XD
I think the skill is okay as it is. Serves its purpose just about right.. in PVE. :P
Dunno, lightning is also an ele exclusive combo field so I cant understand why they don’t make earth. Either way, it’s a redundant skill, as Frozen Ground does pretty much the same thing; only 100 times better (and it is a combo field to boot).
It used to. I used it around a month back and it indeed caused bleeds.
Basically u become a weaker version of the Reaper of Grenth (Human Racial Elite) only with stability, crippled and no access to your main bar.
Lightning Hammer better against mobs that do not drop bombs or use aoe attacks, but when I’m forced to kite enemies, Fiery Greatsword is the best conjure for the task. Both serve slightly different purposes.
Also, Greatsword works better in dungeon groups as I tend to stay away from frontlines (and lightning hammer) when in dungeons.

I agree with the posts above. As it stands, I would liken an staff ele to a character that could use both war and ranger longbow skills, while d/d would be the equivalent of axe scepter necro and axe axe ranger combined. In short, they lacks versatility. If you use d/d in a situation where you’d be required to do something at range, unless u equipped conjures, you are sooo dead. Same thing happens when using staff in a room full of enemies that all have immobilize. The fact, that this game requires eles to use conjures for versatility makes them somewhat underwhelming.
Meh, now I have no reason to take it over lightning hammer which gives me an aoe perma blind for 30 seconds and does dmg to boot.
the vast majority of eles i come across are D/D. Sometimes see staff, hardly ever scepter focus. They need to make more builds interesting/viable, and yes, they need to address D/D. When nearly every player uses it, its a good sign it just might be too good.
Or everything else is just bad…seriously, daggers are only useful because they are the only ele weapon capable of doing serious damage without the opponent standing like a complete goof for 3 seconds. The only other options the ele has are conjures which take up skill slots (and only ice bow and greatsword are effective here).
Ice bow is working as intended cept for skill #1. Ice bow has the best ranged AOE in the game (4) in pve. Shard storm is 100 times more accurate than meteor storm and it utterly decimates stationary targets (1 shots roadblocks, towers, etcs…) Comparing it to glyph of storms is a joke as it deals more than twice the damage per shard (it also deals more damage than the Fire Sword’s firestorm). Ice bow also has one of the best single target ccs in the game (5). It for some reason even works on bosses at times (might be bug). Never see the heal (1) though so pls make the AOE larger.
I agree with everything else stated above though.
In my case, the problem mostly persists from 9 PM – 12 AM UTC +7. At other times, the problem does not seem to occur at all. Can other players post the time, country, and server played here? I really would like to see if there is a pattern to this. Thanks! I’ll start.
Time: 9 PM – 12 AM UTC +7
Country: Thailand
Server: Vabbi (EU)
Seconded, I want my money back too if they dont fix this.
Believe it or not, their “EU” servers are actually in Texas. Go to www.ipfingerprints.com and look up one of their EU servers (ex: 206.127.146.74).

I want a big dragon next so no Primordious (tiniest dragon out of the bunch considering the size of the central transfer chamber) pls. Jormag’s (that tooth is huge) gotta be the biggest out of the bunch so hope it’s him.
Still…at least Cabbage man tries to pay you back for all the times you helped him (showering you with praise, making u 2nd in command, and at least helps somewhat in combat). He’s loyal to say the least.
As for Kormir fixing her mistakes and loyalty to her troops….this thing explains it → Kormir’s Great Legacy
Note: Kudos to Dashface for this awesome comic.

Nope, stuck with the same problem. Been stuck for 2 weeks. But I can help you save your time though. Anet tech services will ask you to first do some GW2 diagnostic test, then either ask you change ur video card or ask you to further take a ping plotter test. Last, Anet tech services will ask you to accuse your ISP of causing the problem.
I for one bet they’ll say ur ISP is faulty.

Also from the Philippines and I apparently have the same problem as you guys. I can’t do anything aside from moving around and enemies either stand there or repeat their animations. Travel by waypoint? Isn’t happening.
It all started Feb 12, even before the maintenance update. I’ve been playing the game fine before then and now it just is unplayable.
I already sent a support ticket about this and I’m still waiting for their reply.
For my kababayan: I’m on Skycable (Metro Manila) and I’m on Borlis Pass.
I’m using Skycable Broadband too. The lag issues also happened to me on Feb 12/Tuesday. I really wonder if certain ISPs need to upgrade/change/fix something in their side to get rid of the lag issues when connecting to Anet’s servers. Although I doubt this theory too because I have no trouble surfing the web and playing other online games.
Reinstalling the game doesn’t work too.
From the Philippines and my ISP is Skycable Broadband too. I’ve played for over 1000 hours already with no problems. But this past week I was lagging real bad(delayed skills and my character seems to snap back to different locations). After a few minutes of play I get the 7:11:3:189:101 error. This made the game very unplayable. I have already submitted a ticket and they asked me to use pingplotter to trace my connection to their servers. They asked me to contact my ISP because I was losing data packets. I’m starting to think our ISP is the problem, IDK
-edit
The lag started from Feb 12 for me too.
Using True in Thailand and I’m experiencing something similar. Probably isn’t your ISP but something targeting our region. Data packet loss is common in all connections that span long distances, but disconnects like that are not. Try testing out the ping plotter on IPs in the same country as the GW2 server (proxy servers or perhaps games that have servers there). If your ping plotter shows unreachable like on GW2, then you can blame your ISP. Otherwise if it doesnt (like me), please petition Anet to fix their servers.
Here is my experience with tech support when dealing with this. First, they asked me to run the GW2 diagnostic tool. Then, they asked me to run ping plotter. After that, they told me that my ISP was to blame since they connection route they took was faulty. I emailed them with the data, and apparently there is nothing wrong on there side. To test this out, I used the ping plotter on other IPs similar to GW2 (takes the same route) and found that they were able to connect 100% of the time. So…I emailed the results asking why this is occurring, and still tech support says my ISP is to blame.
STOP BLAMING MY ISP!
He’s ok. At least fought on key occasions unlike the evil Leech. I really hated her and would have by far rather have kicked useless Koss into that vortex (if Anet creates an expansion that involves killing her, I’d be first in line to buy).
He does however have a few significant faults in his character. His acting just seems dispassionate. He also never really develops as a character, as he is constantly plagued with doubts from the start to finish.
Facing a similar thing except at the end of the 10 minutes I get an Error Code=7:11:3:189:101.

Just to clarify, this thread was made to exclusively address error code 7:11:3:189:101 on the loading screen only. The listed links above deal with disconnects in general which could occur for any number of reasons.

Hi all,
I have been experiencing disconnects from the loading screen for the past week or so and I wanted to share what has been working for me to get the game to work. First close down any program that would be using Internet resources. Then go to Start>Run…>resmon.exe (perfmon.exe in Vista and below). On the network tab of the resource monitor, take note of the network activity graph (with nothing open, it should be 0). Run Guild Wars 2.
When at the loading screen, note the network graph. If network activity drops to 0 and remains that way for 5-10 seconds, it probably means that the server never received your client’s request and u’ll likely get the infamous 7:11:3:189:101 error around 10 minutes later. To save you time and frustration, immediately close GW2 and restart the client. Rinse and repeat until you see sustained network activity at the loading screen (which means u’ll likely get in). This is only a small workaround to a large problem with either the game client or server, but u’ll at least if this works, u’ll not be spending a lot of time in front of a loading screen.
I believe the reason error 7:11:3:189:101 occurs at the loading screen because the game client now does not send new requests to the server if its request is not responded to (which could be a common occurrence if you play from Asia or Australia). This really seems to be the case if you monitor the resource monitor on outgoing data from your computer.
Please post if this helped you. I would really like to see if others are facing the same problem as me.
