Conjured Weapons

Using Pyromancer’s Puissance and being in fire attunement while holding any conjured weapon will give you might. I find that using lava axe for a double-might auto is pretty fun. (Combo that with runes of strength for some nice damage) So going 6 points into fire for II, VI, and XII could help you with a conjure build.

It’s also nice to note that your sigils on your weapon will still work despite you using a conjured weapon.

Why did you post this twice instead of continuing the discussion you started in your thread literally one day ago? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Please-Give-Protection-Back-To-Eles

You’re building glass-zerker, using Glyph of Harmony, and you don’t have Blasting Staff. All in all I have no clue what you’re doing with your build. It’s obvious you want to be glass cannon, but you’re complaining about being squishy because you’re glass cannon. If you want more survivability… why not just build a bit tankier? Honestly if you’re having a lot of trouble with surviving as a staff Ele, you’re going to have to look at your build or your playstyle, because protection isn’t going to save you from everything.

Locked Skins?

Thanks for the replies, I’m glad that the skins will be added to my wardrobe, and that I haven’t lost them! I kept hearing of people “losing” skins and I thought I was in the same boat for a bit there.

Locked Skins?

Iretha.7625

I’ve hoarded a number of skins throughout all the living story patches, with the implementation of the wardrobe system, I’d like to use these skins up so that they no longer clutter my bank. The only problem is a good number of them have the words “Skin Locked” in gray letters. I still have the items, and can use them, but does this mean that I cannot have them for skins in my wardrobe?

The locked skins are:
Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings,
Fervid Censer, (makes no sense, as this is an equip),
Desert Rose Skin,
Lightning Catcher Skin,
Wings of the Sunless,
Gas Mask Skin,
Mask of the Night Skin,
Twisted Watchwork Shoulders,
Toymaker’s Bag, (This one makes no sense doubly, as it is an equip, and I have the skin unlocked already despite the game telling me it is locked)
Antitoxin Injector Skin,
Aetherized Pauldrons.

Does “Skin Locked” simply mean that I havn’t unlocked it yet, or will I lose the skins forever and they will no longer be in my wardrobe should I use them to clear bank space? I’d very much like to know before I potentially waste one-time only skins willy-nilly and lose out, any help is appreciated!

Condition damage miss understood

My poison was doing 108 a sec his was doing 84 a sec at the same time

The only way your poison and his poison could tick for damage at the same time would be if you were using different training dummies.

I’m not sure what your goal is, trying to spread misinformation like this. You’re either lieing on purpose for some sort of goal, or heavilly mistaken about how conditions work. It takes like, five seconds to test and secure that you’re wrong, are you sure you’re ACTUALLY testing and not just.. you know… pretending that you are?

For does who are asking for pic or video I have a much better idea , you try this your self make a condition build take a friend and compare your condition damage

I do have a condition necro, my damage numbers aren’t as high as the ridiculous ones you show in your OP. I’ve tested it with another necro and he put poison on first, (using signet of spite)at level 74, and I as a necro at level 80 with exotics/ascended. His poison ticked, but mine did not. You’re sorely mistaken.

So you’re saying that If you put poison on lasting 10 seconds, and at the same time your friend put on poison lasting the same amount of time, you would BOTH get poison damage ticks?

Just to be clear, because that’s not what I see in dungeons. It would be very nice if they changed/fixed it and nobody really noticed.

What i am saying if you do any attack with poison your damage that will show on the screen will be different from any other person base on your condition damage

If I attack with poison and my friend, who has more condition damage, applies poison at the same time as I do. My poison will not tick, and I will do no poison damage. My friend, on the other hand, will do poison damage. We BOTH won’t be doing poison damage at the same time, that’s just….not how it works.

For example I discover that bleed’s works the same way as Vulnerability.
Vulnerability is a condition that stack and for every Vulnerability you get 1% damage increase for every physical damage you deal for a total of 25 stack effect. Well bleed has the same effect for every bleed stack your bleed damage will be increase base on your condition damage.

I did this test by using my lvl 80 THF having a total of 1.2k condition damage and my friend lvl 80 necro with 1.5k condition . After stacking 25 of bleed I was doing 3k bleed damage a sec on bleed effect but my friend necros was doing 4k bleed every sec on his screen and this was attacking the same mob at the same time.. This prove that each player deal his own condition damage to a mob

Also did some other testing with other condition like fire and posion, after applying them my poison damage was 500 a tick and fire was doing 700 a tick, mean while my friend necro was doing 700 poison damage and over 900 with fire on the same mob.

We decided to run dungeon as a group with my guild me thf condition necro condition rng condition and guardian and warrior. first dungeon was COF and we down it under 6 min

Then we ran fractal lvl 33 and every boss was being kill under 1min, condition damage was just eating thru mobs hp in sec . I was doing over 4k bleed damage a sec, over 1k with poison and another 1k with fire and this is not including my dagger auto attack that where doing 1k that’s over 7k damage a sec.

I can believe how badly condition damage was miss understood all this years and how powerful it is

Tengu and the Dominon of Wind next?

From the wiki page for Dominion of wind, by Talon Silverwing (a Tengu from gw1):
“My people tell tales of the day when we will be free, when our lands will be revealed by a heavenly star and rise. When that day comes, human, only then will our races live in peace.”
During the end cinematic, the lay line creates a huge surge of light that goes into the sky. Perhaps the Tengu will take this as that very sign and will open up to the rest of the world.
We’ve also heard that the Tengu have information about Elder Dragons, perhaps they will be our source of information about the currently mysterious Mordremoth who just woke.
Granted, that’s an old quote (though it is on the gw2 wiki), and the Tengu were rather indiscriminate with their hostility through the event in LA.

Compliments to my gf for spotting this one.

Mr E.
Evon Gnashblade,
Hero of the People….
who else?

The person is simply known as “E”. There is no “Mr.”, that’s only something the players and the LS characters have assumed. “E” could stand for Ellen Kiel, or Euryale, or Eir. The letters they send are literally signed “-E” and there is no indication of his/her gender.

As for who E is, we still don’t know, maybe we’ll get to see who they are in the wrap-up, or they’ll forever be in the shadows, calling us to arms like our Herald does for dungeons.

Taimi mini for Christina

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Iretha.7625

Iretha.7625

actually if you’ve been on this game for 3 months you’d know they gave out exclusive items to gem shop purchases that involved real world money only.. which svck’d btw
but they know exactly which transactions are monetary..
i think they should link the hero panel to a non-black lion donation interface.. any donation more than a dollar awards achievement points.. doing this for other in game items just overcomplicates things.. they could choose 12 different charities and have a “charity of the month” much like they have a new achievements panel every so often.. hell, i’d pay a dollar to “whatever” charity each month for little or no reward if the interface was user friendly enough..
so, imagine 1 lousy dollar from almost every player going to MS in march..
and another dollar from almost every player going to breast cancer, or cancer in general, in april.. along with self chosen non-achievement related donations throughout the year

i don’t spend much real money in the gem store to be quite honest.. but i wouldn’t hesitate to donate 12 or so dollars a year to the ?taimi foundation

Actually, I’ve been playing this game since beta. They did, but those were “Buy x ammount of gems and get x prize” rewards. Making the mini, should it come into existence be akin to a mini Mr. Sparkles wouldn’t work. I could buy x amount of gems and get the mini as a bonus, but there’s no way to keep track of whether or not I’m buying the gems for the mini, or buying them for another reason. This is exactly why it would cause confusion, because the money, in this scenario, is meant to be donated.

Let’s say it worked like the Mini Mr. Sparkles. You buy 4,000 gems, you get the mini, and ontop of that the proceeds are donated. Now, if both you and I buy 4,000 gems, who’s to say both of us did it to donate? Maybe I just wanted four Thresher Sickles. If the Taimi mini was put in as a donation pet, it couldn’t be given as a prize for buying x amount of gems, (because at this point arenanet is at risk of losing money meant to go to them) or be put in the gem store like normal minis, because of the gold-to-gems currency (resulting in some players getting the mini without donating at all).

Charity drives in other games generally worked in a way so that you directly donated x amount, and got x prize. What I meant by my original post is that if they put it in the gem store, it would be hard to keep track of who’s actually donating, especially with our gold-to-gems currency exchange. They would have to set it up in such a way so that it worked differently, or separately from how the Black Lion Store is generally run. Perhaps something similar to your idea with it being separate and in the hero panel?

Unfortunately people don’t generally do things 100% out of the kindness of their hearts. I’m sorry, it sucks, but it’s true, there’s a reason why charities give out feel-good prizes like mugs, T-shirts, calendars, ect. That’s not to say that everyone is like that, I’m sure many people would donate without the prospect of a prize, but certainly not as many of those who would for a mini. Giving away achievement points for donations might not raise as many funds, or awareness, as an exclusive mini pet.

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate (As an example for a place to donate to). If the Taimi-mini-for-charity idea gets set in motion, the donation can be made in honor of Christina, or “All of Tyrias heroes who fight dragons and MS”.

Putting the mini in the gem store might be a challenge, though. Seeing as people could buy gems with gold, and just plain buy gems, it would be hard for anet to keep track of where the donations are coming from. Then again I don’t know anything about computer magic, for all I know they could put it in the gem store and demand you pay with your card before buying it.

The kid’s dialogue is wierd, but if it makes you feel better there could be a reason for Petra to remember you a bit. Regardless of your player’s connection to her, she’s still Andrew’s (the bar keerper’s) daughter. You did technically kill two-blade Pete in her bar, also, when rescuing Pete he does tell you that he will meet you “At the tavern later” (reffering to Petra’s tavern, perhaps.)

Counter the Miasma gas?

Maybe her troops can’t survive the miasma either and when it reaches toxic levels, lore-wise, they gtfo as well? We are primarily fighting to keep them from re-deploying the miasma, and of course evacuating citizens before they get caught in the next miasma-storm. They probably only come back down from their airships or wherever to re-deploy the miasma when it gets too thin. Right now she’s benefiting from keeping the miasma around as much as she can to give herself more time to drill that hole deeper.

If this is the case, then during the battle for LA, when her drilling is (supposedly) done she’s going to want to not-miasma-nuke the entirety of LA so she can use her massive army to push our forces back to the best of her ability. We may not need to counteract it next patch, because she might not be mass-deploying it.

I will agree with you about the player in GW2 being a minor character, but that cannot be said about GW1. The PC in GW1 was a VERY important character in all of the campaigns and eotn. Not the only one, but still one of the major players. The only reason that the character isnt known in gw2 universe as a household name is because of the ambiguity of the character. How do you portray the heroism of a character whose name, gender, nationality, skillset, and even accomplisments are ambiguous? GW2 does so in a good way. The GW1 PC travelled a lot, so records of his/her various accomplishments would be scattered all over the world. There is in game a few npcs who talk about the hero of gw1 in a vague sense, and then of course the Hall of Monuments still exists in game (HoM being a gigantic tribute to the importance of the gw1 PC). It is however in ruins. The GW2 answer to portrayal of this character was simply that his/her actions helped define Tyria but the identity of this hero was simply lost to history. Which is quite probable considering it would be largely human history, and humans have taken major blows in the time between the two games so records of the character are quite probably lost. Most likely, any historical records would have been split between Istani scriptures (most likely in ruins due to Palawa Joko) Shing Jea Monastery (fate unknown) Old Lion’s Arch (destroyed from Zhaitan’s rise) and the Eye of the North (in ruins from neglect, likely due to the recall of the Ebon Vanguard to Ebonhawke).

So what little is still known about that hero is that he/she was of great importance and fought for Tyria in the 8 year span of history represented in GW1.

You’re right, now that I think of it the GW1 character was much more renown than the one in GW2. Unfortunately I think the reason for that is mainly because GW1 was heavily instanced, hub-based, and had a non-persistant world. And, like you said, GW1 followed the story of primarily humans, whereas here in GW2 we have a deck of five races that need equal attention. It’s just plain harder to give a GW2 character more focus than they’re already given. Not simply because “GW2’S an MMO” but because it’s an mmo with a persistant world that tries to instance as little as possible.

The living story team (Marjory, Kasmeer, Rox, Braham, and eventually, Taimi) all recognize the player and consider them a member of their team, and call to the player for help, praise them when they figure things out, ect. Another thing I suppose Anet can do to make people feel “specialer” is put in more npc dialogue, perhaps?

Example: [If the player has completed the “Extraction Complete” meta-achievement] Walking through the new Lion’s Arch, or wherever people re-locate too, the player walks past a random citizen npc. In a chat bubble (appearing over their head; showing to no other players to prevent spam; no voice-acting needed) a citizen can say “It’s you! I can’t believe it! You helped me when Lion’s Arch was attacked.. I can’t thank you enough!” It would be nice to have, assuming they even have the means to do it.

@Iretha.7625
snip

There are many “crappy” mmos that still sell WITHOUT a good story, it’s called nostalgia. I might have missed the point of your original post, but…

well.we got too many npc heroes who are over shadowing the players characters as main hero.
I WANT TO BE in the center of spot light get rid of this so many side heroes,i want people to beg me for help and solution.yeah i want to be the one.

sounds a LOT like “I need all the glory for my character and I want to be the special one.” My point was that in gw2, much like gw1. You. Are not. The main character. There are no side heroes, and when stuff gets done it’s a team effort, and if the npcs who have dialogue just happen to recognize the LS crew before they see you, it doesn’t mean you’re any less important.

I already stated they COULD do a better job of having the LS team recognize you better for your actions. I’m not saying they can’t IMPROVE, I’m saying that you can’t expect to be in the spotlight forever for the living story. I feel like I’m part of their team, having one-on-one convos with them at every chance you get goes a long way. One of their biggest problems with the LS setup as it is now is that newer players don’t feel any real connection to the LS team. I could literally write paragraphs about how I got to see each of the LS character’s grow, and after every. single. LS instance. and update. We got a personal letter from our friends thanking us, or asking us for help, because we’re the first person they think to ask.

We’re the ones who figured out Scarlet was going to attack Lion’s Arch, by the way. Also the ones who pretty much saves Marjory and Kasmeer’s butt when the giant-toxic-weed got revealed, figured out Mai was working for the aetherblades, we solved the puzzles in scarlet’s hidden room in the nightmare tower that inevitably made the whole thing crumble. The list goes on and the LS characters recognize us for it. Again, COULD they do a better job at showing this? Sure, but to say that the LS team sees us as only “replaceable soldiers”. They already DO cry to you for help, and ask you for the solution. That’s why it doesn’t make sense for you to say that they don’t.

However, I’d like the point out that as-is right now, the LS team is generally unknown to the world as well. Heck, Logan didn’t even really recognize Braham when he last saw him during “A Moments Peace”. The only ones who seem to pull any weight when it comes to being somewhat renowned are Marjory and Kasmeer. (Kasmeer for being a noble; Marjory for being a friend of Logan and for once being in the Ministry Guard.) Everyone else? Seem pretty… much unknown to the rest of the world. Rox is licking Rytlock’s boots praying for the day he finally lets her into his warband after he’s strung her along for about a year, though.

I have many friends who have played SWOTR, and hated it, one of their main reasons? The story.

I’m going to ignore the “Fanboy” comment as I criticize the living kitten out of anet for several issues with their living story. (Like how “It was Scarlet” for forced onto everything; How underdeveloped Braham feels as a character compared to the others; Why we’re only now learning about whatever’s in Scarlet’s head, no hints, no nothing, they just poof put that in there, it felt forced. Like a cop-out. ect.)

True, but we’re missing any decent interaction with the biconics. So although Rox and Braham think I’m the greatest, I as a player never experienced the development of any friendship. Sure we can talk to the biconics but at most we exchange a few rather bland words, mostly just enough to remind us of what’s going on. Although it’s been stated several times that ANet has some issues making it difficult to record / play player character voices, which thus contributes to limited interaction. Still it’s something that I think is missing, you know we help Braham and we get a little voiced cut-scene, or better yet some voiced dialogue options. We as players get to experience this relationship developing and changing. Better yet if we could choose if we wanted to be friendly with Braham or not.

You didn’t? Throughout Flame and Frost I slowly got to know Rox and Braham better, from first meeting Rox to seeing her get her devourer, watching Braham’s fall out with Ottilia. It wasn’t until after the molten facility events did they (Rox, Braham, and the players) recognize themselves as a team. To be honest I never really felt a connection to Rox until she told the player character about her old warband and how they died.

They could certainly do a BETTER job of showing the player character their relationship with the LS crew; But we did have a relationship that came up over time with them. The problem is there doesn’t seem to be much room for new players or new characters that are meeting the LS crew now to form that same relationship.

Another one you didn’t mention but is completely relevant, Kormir. People kitten about her becoming a god, but like your last paragraph states, how could we go from GW1 to GW2 with the sixth god being either vague (no face, name, personality, to encompass all players), or suddenly having an NPC nobody knew thrust in to take the spot? I think both would kitten players off more then Kormir ever does.

In GW1, the players basically were part of 2 “b-teams” in a sense. Devona and the Ascalon’s Chosen guild went through nearly ALL gw1 events, but not as many people talk about them or the other henchmen. The hero from EOTN is described vaguely, but with clear indicators that the person was both powerful and did a kittenton of work.

HOWEVER, even with the player being in the “side hero” or the “Person who does a ton of work, but as time goes on slowly their NAME is forgotten, but not their deeds!”, Anet is including a lot of things directly crediting the players with actions. Talk to the two priory members near the Marionette wreckage. BOTH of them directly say you were part of the effort to bring the thing down (at least for me, and that was with a character who NEVER did the Marionette battle, my Necro did it all, and I talked to them on my guardian). Vorpp, Kasmeer, Marjory, all talk about how if YOU hadn’t helped them figure out LA was the target they’d have been unable to make the response they did, or as quickly.

Exactly, the player IS recognized by the DE team, the LS team, ect. We just aren’t given a major spotlight because of lore reasons. Many people just don’t TALK to them, though, and only watch the cinematics leading people to make posts like the OP’s, wondering why the player character is seen as a “tool”, “doesn’t make a real difference” and “isn’t the main character”. (Paraphrasing, of course.) We even get letters from the LS characters, either thanking us or calling us for help, referring to us as friends sometimes and treating the player character as a close companion that they think of to call upon first for help.

Get over yourself. Plain and simple. Like GW1, in GW2 the player character is NOT the center of attention, our names don’t go down in the history books. The reasons for this are so obvious I’m not even sure why I feel compelled to explain them to you.

Example 1: Trahearne. He is commonly hated for various reasons, and yes, his “Taking the spotlight” tends to be one of them. Years from now when they speak about the cleansing of Oor and the fall of Zhaitan, you obviously won’t see the list of millions of player’s characters in a history book. Instead it will be “Trahearne and a commander who’s name has been lost over time” or something. Those heroes can NOT get things done just fine without us story-wise, but the game still can’t give you all the credit.

Example 2: Destiny’s Edge. YES We DO play a role in helping them get back together, and you’re sorely mistaken if you think that at the end of every dungeon they think of themselves not the player, and treat the player like a tool. We may not have the huge spotlight that we do at the very beginning of our personal story, where everything is small-scale. But we DO matter to Destiny’s Edge (Henceforth known as DE). Hate to break it to you but in the story modes we’re helping along DE’S story, not our own. The entirety of DE view the player character as friends, and will recognize you for helping them out, should you take the time to speak to them. (And I mean SPEAK to them and not watch the cinematics).

Example 3+4 Lumped together: First off reffering to Marjory and Kasmeer as “Lesbian chicks” is offensive. Secondly, again, GET. OVER. YOURSELF. When it comes to history, you are not the main character, you simply absolutely cannot be, MUST I explain why to you?

YOU. The player. Are the side hero. You’re good guy Greg who comes in and fixes EVERYTHING and walks off without taking the credit. The history books will not remember you, just like how they didn’t in GW1, simply because it’s not possible. Why is this not possible? For instance, my necromancer’s name is “Sepzane”. Years from now when gw2 is dead and we’re in GW3 I’ll probably come across a book that says “Zhaitan was finally slain thanks to the combined heroics of Trahearne and Sepzane.” That doesn’t sound right now, does it? Because every single player, most with several other characters have slain Zhaitan with Trahearne, from a lore perspective they simple and positively cannot put you in the middle of the kitten spotlight.

Can they do a better job with having the LS crew and DE notice you better? Maybe, but they already do. Just TALK to them. But they can’t give you the spotlight, YOU can’t be the main character of a major plot line in an mmo. (Key word: MMO, millions of different player characters doing the same work you do, and you want to be the star.) As far as their lore is concerned, our characters are the unnamed heroes who were instrumental in doing a good chunk of good.

When I first saw her I rooted for her and Braham to get together, then her lines from Dragon Bash to The Bazaar made me think “Braham honey, you are too good for this loser!”. Arenanet has been pretty good about updating their dialogue and interactions, and last we heard of her during the Jubilee she mentioned going to travel the world with a fur merchant. Well, I’ve looked all around Cragstead and.. she’s moved. (Or I’m blind and she’s there but my 3 rounds of Cragstead mean jack all.)

The wiki claims she was heading to Hoelbrak, so I’ll start hunting for her there first, in the hopes that her change in scenery will give us more dialogue. Anyone who’s seen her or Ebbe (the fur merchant she ran off with after she crushed our dear Braham’s heart.) please let me know here.

Or, let me know if I’m completely blind and she’s still in Cragstead.

No, because instead of focusing on the actual story of what happened when the reactor blew they decided to throw Scarlet in, point at her and say “Scarlet did it!”. On one side you could say Kiel supporters took a lore-bullet for the Abaddon Fractal supporters, you could argue that Scarlet would’ve been shoved into the Abaddon Fractal with magitech nonsense.

We probably would have been forced to play a clone of Abaddon’s Gate in GW. Remember that the lore-failure that is this current LW update doesn’t mean that the alternative was necessarily better, it could have been worse for all we know. Yes, I voted for the Thaumanova Reactor because there legitimately is..or WAS a lot more we could learn about that than we could about Abaddon. Not to mention the ractor has a lot more to do with the world that we’re currently playing in, whereas Abaddon is hardly a memory in our current world.

Who is behind Thaumanova?

Seriously, if I knew they were going to shove Scarlet down our throats again for this I would’ve voted for Abaddon. (Despite it having nothing to do with GW2) I had hoped the Thaumanova reactor fallout fractal would teach us more about the universe we’re currently living in, maybe touch on some elder dragon goodness. The Thaumanova Reactor Fallout had so much potential, it was a near-limitless blank slate that could be filled with almost anything you could imagine and instead of giving us something refreshing, new, and could potentially lead us towards our next Elder Dragon conquest, you give us Scarlet. I know you guys want her to be an important part of…whatever little story you think you’ve got going on but PLEASE for the love of THE SIX DIVINES let us have SOMETHING that DOESN’T involve Scarlet. You’re using her WAY too much and she’s been everywhere and tied to everything from the begining of the living story till now with the exception of Tequatl, Adventure Box, and Halloween.

From Flame and Frosts’s kickoff being tied to her, which is the cause of us going to Southsun, to her dumbfoolery at Dragon Bash causing us to meet the Aetherblade Pirates which Scarlet decided to set up, then Queen’s Jubilee had potential till Scarlet showed her pickled-face and made it all about her again, then we get TA changed up and guess what? Heee-reees Scarlet! 15/20 LW updates have been about or tied to Scarlet. If it means I get to see her less…

Please, from now on, only release updates for Christmas, Halloween, Super Adventure Box, and dragons like Tequatl. We’re only 2 months away from the LW being around for one whole, long year If we don’t get rid of her by then I’m going to start reffering to this year as a “Scarlet Expansion” I think I’ll name it Scarletclym, or Stupidity of the Matchmaking Queen, no wait, I got a better one. The Anti-Scarlet Crusade.

Anise = Livia. GW2 Mystery.

It’s an interesting theory, there certainly is something peculiar about Anise, she could have picked up Mesmer-ism as a secondary profession. Not entirely sure why she’d pretend to be Anise, though, she was still around and prominent for when Zhaitan woke up and Orr popped back up. Her becoming a lich was a rumor for her youthful appearance, along with her sacrificing prisoners. It’d probably be more likely that when she disappeared that she went off and had a kid, since I don’t see a reason for her to hide for 60 years, with about half of which being as Anise.
