On a more genereal scale: I like, how places we’ve seen in GW changed. I constantly find myself somewhere, thinking “Hm, this looks kind of familiar…” and then realising, where I’d be in GW ^^

^Does that mean that in the end the rest of the human gods are responsible for the char invasion and everything after probably even the guild wars?

The charr were an antitheist people – They had no gods of their own, knew about human gods, but saw them as enemies to be destroyed.

The humans of ascalon built the great northern wall and thrived under their gods.

Some Flame Legion guy had the idea that the charr would only ever be in a position to defeat the humans of Ascalon, if they had gods of their own.

He found the titans (As I mentioned above, the Mursaat, the false gods of the White Mantle, feared to be destroyed by the aforementioned “Chosen Ones” who would free the titans who in turn would destroy the mursaat), Titans gave the charr magic, they tore down the great northern wall like furry cool-aid men and drove humanity out of ascalon.

Later on, our Heroes in GW1 defeatet the titans, the charr flame legion, pressed to find new gods to hold their grasp on the charr people, turned to the destroyers – we defeated them too in the first GW, so the other three legions got really kittened and kicked out the shamaans.

So, in a way, the human gods are not directly responsible for the charr invasion, but definitely gave the charr the ideas, where they should look for the means to start the invasion ^^

What no I mean the dragon champion from part 2 of the personal story. Why did you though Zhaitan?

oh, that wasn’t an elder dragon ^^ one of his champions, like Glint.

" just a couple of weeks ago be beat one 1 vs 1 and he was not that impressive."

you’re talking about Zhaitan?

tehre are a few things to be considered: First, we didn’t beat him 1v1, we beat him with a massive army and a huge effort to unite the different philosophies and races of tyria to fight against him – That’s how we won

Second, Zhaitan is not Kralkatorrik, Kralkatorrik is, if I’m not mistaken, the mightiest of the elder dragons we know of so far.

e: Also, the elder dragons seem to have different ideas when it comes to ther minions: Jormag for example has very deceptive and autonomous servants, while Zaitan seems to be more of an “omnipower” amongst his subjects. Maybe Kralkatorrik just created a minion with more powers to deal with the special tasks he assigned to her.

Not inherently – White Mantle was an organisation founded by (I think) a guy called “Saul D’Alessio” – The charr invaded Kryta at that time and Saul found the so called “Unseen Ones” who he believed to be new gods – With the help of these new gods he drove the charr out of kryta.

Some of the eventy in GW1 deal with helping the white mantle to round up “chosen ones” to be carried away and educated to be some kind of scholars or so (I think, don’t remember what they said exactly because it was all lies anyways ^^) – Later we find out that they actually sacrifice these “Chosen Ones”.
Thing is – the “Unseen Ones” are actually an ancient race called “mursaat” who believe in an ancient prophecy that these “chosen ones” will bring about the downfall of their race, so they used Saul and his white Mantle to prevent this by killing them.

So, no, the white mantle is not “evil”, just a bunch of misguided religious whackjobs abused by some ancient, selfish race.

Did the Charr made a big mistake?

From their point of view at the time it was a logical decision, they had the humans routed and could not have predicted the cataclysm or the mursaat – That was just bad luck ^^

for the time being you cant. why? simple: the regions we have aren’t africa like regions. Maybe in the future they would make a human populated africa like region.

It’s not an excuse for limited options in GW2, since there oviously would be people of elonian descent, but, yeah, in GW1 elonian characters had much more african features than tyrian characters, as canthan characters had more asian features.
Maybe we see more options with the reintroduction of these regions?

I like “Badwell” as a human last name – It follows the pattern of those “two word” names, but it doesn’t have an obvious connection to, say, profession (as it nearly always is the case with my characters…), so it comes much more naturally and “random”, not forced, and therefore i think it’s a more realistic name.
I also like “Buff” in combination with it, sounds nice and “warrior like” ^^ I give that one 9/10, Badwell jr. doesn’t strike me as very creative, since he’s the second “Badwell” and doesn’t have a proper First Name :P 7/10 Alodar Dorin on the other hand is another creative name (for some reason I picture a ranger instead of a necromancer) 9/10
The other ones aren’t human ^^

Recently started a human mesmer named “Rhea Brassmirror” (I guess I had a little thing for “Metal” names after creating my engi “Bolt Coppergear”, who’s a charr ^^)

Hm, I guess between the charr invasion the cataclysm of orr and the white mantle incident and the respective aftermaths, humanity was forced to work together, old guilds would have been destroyed, new guilds formed – We know that guild weren’t exclusively human after a time too…

Right, those. Wasn’t there one with Cynn too?

Yep, I also found one called “Eve of Destruction”, which, I think, refers to Eve.

There might be one for every member of the group, but I only found Mhenlo, Cynn and Eve so far.

I actually liked the way it was done in the Citadel – My first char was a charr and I looked around the citadel for a bit when I forst got there.
I remember my surprise when I found the remains of some horn, thinking “could that be…?” and had a closer look at it, finally found the plaquette explaining it was indeed the horn from the nolani academy mission

Gave me some sense of nostalgia, I really like the way the major cities are designed.

Levelling build?

I started a few weeks ago, so maybe my advice is not the best, but anyways:

I orientated myself mostly on the guide that is sticked at the top of the necromancer forums:

My necro is now 62, I use dagger/focus mostly for the vulnerability bounce skill and damage and switch to dagger/warhorn in larger groups for the aoe dot/cripple – Most things are dead before they can do serious damage.

Approaching single mobs i just fling the vulnerability bounce skill and melee them to death, for groups i also fling the thingy, flash the Deathshroud since I traited it with weakening shroud, use the 5 skill and then switch back to use well of suffering – then i switch to warhorn, use the swarm skill and melee everything that remains (most trash groups don’t survive to that point, especially if i fire off blood is might after the well…)

For utility I use Signet of Spite, Well of suffering, blood is might and for elite the flesh golem, since it makes soloing feel less lonely ^^

Traits I use so far are somewhat limited by what I have so far but I use the one that reduces cooldown on focus skills and weakening shroud, have yet to discover some useful traits to spec another…

Racial Sympathy Limitations are Nonsense

IMO it all revolves around how useful the tribal race would be considered in a fight against dragons, based on your upringing lorewise.
for example, charr and norn would not work with the quaggans, but espacially norn don’t detest quaggans or hate them, they just don’t think they’re capable of being a better ally in their fight than, say, an ogre, because lorewise they were brought up to respect physical strength.

It’s the same with the asura, they don’t think brutish ogres or stupid skritt are capable of holding themselves in a fight against an incredible mighty and wise being like an elder dragon.

The story is about everyone but you.

I think PCs should not be involved too much in the “World” Story in an MMORPG, there are just too many of us and it’d be much better if we were not referred to as a singular individual but as a group…

Oh, I like that one, especially the last name, Oriana sounds a tad too “human” I think, but it’s alright 9/10

I got a charr thief called Mereen Brightclaw, for her white fur with black spots as well as the bright flash of her steel – very likely to be the first and last thing you’ll see of her xD

Few people play female Charr

in Charr

Posted by: Ishmael.6740

Ishmael.6740

I started out as Charr and went female because I didn’t really like the monstrous appearance of the charr males (I later rolled a norn and decided to make her female as well for similar reasons – Male norns look like tattooed hooligans Oo sadly I think female norns are a bit oversexualized, I think I’ll use some of the more covering armor parts for her in the end… Necromancers aren’t supposed to hop around in small skirts, flashing their skin, it’s effing cold in those crypts up in the shiverpeaks! -.-) – As I progressed through the story line and lore I realized that I really like the “non-gender-binary” charr society, where gender equality seems to come naturally, simply because of the “enslavement” of the charr by their former shamans and the fact that they created a patriarchy by forbidding females to be soldiers.
This, I think, in combination with the decisive part females played in the revolt against the flame legion, led to this kind of equality regarding gender.
Maybe anet did that to justify the nonexistence of female charr models in GW1, but I thought it rather intelligent and liked the idea

e: I hope it’s ok to bump this ^^

Its the SMELL!

in Necromancer

Ishmael.6740

So, considering they’re around dead bodies for studying, rituals and all that jazz I think these “rituals” might involve incense or good-smelling herbs, a lot of washing…
Maybe a little smell of death might be there in those dungeons and cellars and crypts where our profession lingers, but after all the smell of decay is something that comes with the slow decomposing of our studying objects, so that would be something we seek to avoid ^^
I guess a Necromancer would smell more of substances, maybe poisons, used for embalming, like formaldehyde or herbs.
