Theif barely got hit at all, all they lost was one dodge and a tiny bit of damage on PI. The sigils mean nothing because everyone lost them. Compare the nerf of mesmer and theif and they have completely wrecked mesmer. Thinking about it now, it makes absolutely no sense to nerf condition mesmer but buff the ridiculous sniper power build, that is not counter play whatsoever.
I’m pretty gutted to be honest I was really enjoying mesmer and thought I had found my new carry build.
^^ Yup, unfortunately I just started playing mes two days ago, was really enjoying it until the patch, noticed the difference straight away. The sustain is just gone now like you said you’re relying on the upkeep of 3 clones now, which on sw/sc and staff you lose one clone on your first rotation and its gg. I like where the patch was heading with removing pulses to introduce new counter play but the nerf to the only viable mesmer build was just a bit OTT.
Correct me if I’m wrong but have they completely destroyed staff now? I really am unsure of what to play now as off hand sword seems like the only way to make up for sustain?

Full trap DH with poor self sustains and a Necro that darn near insta dies to… Symbols. I use a similar symbol build but these particular players are silver level

I’m using this exact build but with swapped weapons, I really cant see how you think it has poor self sustain. The trap heal is a no brainer its the shortest cd, gives a 9k heal and obviously you can drop it ready while it cools down. The only other trap is again a no brainer, short cooldown traited, hits like a truck under might and provides protection.
The next two skills both heal 2k each, short cooldowns one removing 2 conditions and granting fury, the next converts all conditions into boons which works in synergy when you can swap honor with virtues for more burst. No brainers, especially in team fights, we can remove all our teams conditions and give a 4k heal here and there. Traited wings with virtues gives even more condition removal, retaliation and stability with courage.
Sigils of strength and rune of strength again work in synergy with guard imo as you are gaining might on blocks and when traited through honor or virtues you are gaining even more might, this makes f3 a deadly weapon unto itself. I cant think of any other sigil I would swap for blood, it seems pretty effective as a leech.
So, in 1v1s other than engi and druid its unstoppable. I can easily take fights with an ele as I can use shield 5 and scepter 3 to knockback and immobilise to take control of the cap. Even against druid with clever movement and use of LoS I can control the cap or at least wait and hold if help is available. I rarely take on a 1v1 with an engi on any class, fighting a decent engi on his node is just a waste of time imo.
IF this was without might and you had no invul then he mustve been running a glass build with dare devil runes. One varation of staff is valk amulet and dd runes with air and blood/fire. Add to that another staff with air and bloodlust. Even without assassins signet and might…. You hit like a train…………….

Hmmm I can’t imagine this to be honest. The thing I like about gw2 is the tactical rotation, lowering cooldowns would make games a lot tighter and more fast paced. In my opinion it’s hard enough to see whats going on when players are stacked, implementing your ideas would reduce kiting/rotating and would in a way make the game more facetanky which is what I don’t like about most other mmorpg’s.
However I think some classes would benefit from more skill changes, I would like to have a quicker cast time at the price of a reduced damage and duration on my engi’s lightning field.
I would also like to see some actual real combos instead of as you said combo fields, an incentive to combo and rotate certain skills together would be great and would really set the good from the bad and the ugly apart.
But we are asking for a lot, anet seems to balance around far few and between often small nerfs and buffs here and there, also changing gear. Were asking for actual class and skill mechanic changes and balancing, a very, I’ll say time consuming thing to do. I would like to see something new though for sure.
Well if you’re fighting 3 necros wouldnt it be better to take symbolic condi cleanse guardian with sword/focus scepter/shield? It’s a lot easier pulling and pushing one necro about whilst immobilising and dropping symbols and traps on him than running into 3 of them and dying. Or maybe you couldve swapped to a little boon duration?
I suggest some change to these 2 maps.
Forest of Niflhel: Change the beasts to go into downed state like lords do and use downed skills to try and prevent their death. They could also rally.
The reason for that is to reduce beast stealing as some classes are better at that than others.Battle of Kyhlo: Change the trebuchets to work in a similar fashion to how Skyhammer works. Just that they would be limited to the middle control point alone and will not affect the other points. So, at certain intervals during the match both trebs will unlock and you’d need to capture them, upon capture they will fire a big volley at the clock tower that will cover the entire area and not just the point, the impact will neutralize the point.
Alternative Battle of Kyhlo: Keep trebs as they are but with one change. Make each impact of the Treb alter the control point by 25% control for the team shooting the treb.
Forest of nifhel: as above theives would just down both beasts. Instead make the points count on a damage dealt percentage instead of who lands the last punch. I agree that beast stealing is ridiculous.
Battle of kyhlo: Just forget the treb altogether. Tell your team if the enemy trebs just rotate to far and close hopefully in a 2v2 and a 3v2 whilst the enemy wastes their player on the treb. Treb is just noob play, get rid and put orbs up there that net 25pts if you return them to base or something.
Top stats don’t always and technically don’t mean anything. I could run into a 1v1, take little damage, out kite and kill the enemy with a few moves, or, I could run into a 1v1 facetank a tonne of damage and put out a tonne of damage and healing. The former wouldn’t get me any top stats, but the latter would.
The former might’ve taken me say 30 seconds? But the latter took me 45 seconds. Say they were different players and the same outcome happened with each of their fights 5 times. The former player would’ve got more top stats thinking they were better but the latter wouldn’t get the stats, yet they were better.
It’s the same with surviving, it’s great if you can run in with a DH facetank and put out a tonne of damage but if you can’t finish anyone because you didn’t kite and used all your cooldown, what good is all that damage and healing? As above, you can’t measure tactics.
It’s the same with theif, sometimes you can carry a game without getting any top stats, because you were efficient with your damage and ended what you knew were the most important losing fights, saving deaths and decaps for your team while your stronger team fighting players get all the top stats then pm you a load of kitten even though you won the game and didn’t die once. Is there a top stat for not dying? No but it has its time and place, like damage, healing, offence and defence do, the amount of one stat that you get means absolutely nothing.
I’ve watched my teams 3v2 the enemy on close, thinking they are winning the game whilst we lose because of a two cap, they get all the top stats but stayed on close outnumbering our only point the entire game.
I’ve said it enough. Unranked needs the same rewards as ranked, that would save half our problems and would be a really quick fix for uneven games. In the long run we need game requirements across classes to play ranked. New game modes. Different ques. Less power creep. Rewarded tutorials on advantage/disadvantages, say black lion keys or whatever. Something needs to be done to end this never ending salty nooby atmosphere that is lingering in spvp.
It seems to be all luck to me. I went on something like 20-3 losses yesterday, won a few earlier today then logged in tonight to tank 7 or 8 loses in a row. Tryharding like a kitten just to get the ascension finished so I can bugger off to wvw.
Everyone saying a losing streak is down to you, that’s a joke. Unless you are duo-ing with a good player, or truly are a great player playing a great carrying class, it’s going to happen. It’s like that video derren brown did flipping heads on a coin 10 times in a row, it happens.
However I don’t believe staying the same class game after game is helping. Last season I was bronze, this season I have expanded to playing 5 classes in pvp, I also have a good knowledge of the other classes, I haven’t dropped below silver 2 and now hovering between silver 3 and gold 1.
My point is I support your statement somewhat. These losing streaks happen regardless of your skill. A few games tonight were close, a few others I watched my team throw. For instance capping mid only for my team to chase off the point and lose it straight away.
In these moments it’s hard to keep your cool when you finish a team fight, go to defend close whilst actively watching your teams full health health bars and the minimap showing them giving mid point away chasing one enemy off point for the game changing move that added another lose to my streak.
Correct me if I’m wrong. Didn’t GW have tutorials for pvp and pvp mechanics that were compulsory and rewarded you for completing?

Anet needs to try to make more guides and link youtubers. I don’t see anything in game that tells me where I can watch good pvp guides.
A simple guide such as showing the advantages and disadvantages of capping nodes I feel would help new players drastically.
Yeah it’s casual gamer friendly, but lets not forget GW2 was made F2P for population issues, which hasn’t done a lot for PVP itself.
Rewards wise, it’s really not casual gamer friendly.

The match-making update has done something, I have only seen 2 stacks today. Makes no odds if my team are trying to get tranq when there are 2 support ele’s sat on it though haha.
Unranked needs the same rewards as ranked, I’m sick of toxic players who don’t even communicate let alone look at the map.
Ranked should be for players who want to play competitively and get better at pvp.
I stopped today cuz again playing with “plat” players and no one even give a d*mn about swaping profession or anything like that.

Ok I play GW2 pvp only for about 3 years and when I say before the game starts it’s a 100% loss and what happend?
The double necro pro + bad thief easy game loss.1v2 and 1v3 entire game tryhard as hell and those people still manage to get from a 3 cap into 0.

I’m bad at complaining but I have enough of the “skill” lvl of players on plat or near plat is just not even weak but sad askitten.
90% of those players have no idea of their class or what to do. No idea of good team comp vs bad they just want to play the class they can.
Last season decent matches with same trolls and afkers but was 100% better then this one.
If people on plat lvl have no idea of the game or of their own class then I jst have to admit this game is dead.
My top 3 until now:
Thief players / never swap / never outnumber / never decap / roame 90% of the time off point
Necro players (the best of all) 0 support who cares I play necro die mid fight within 10 seconds gg + don’t forget the rage after +blocking you cuz they are the best players and you su**.
Random afkers / before the game starts ragers (yes even on high rank)
told a “pro” druid not to push far cuz I want to do (get abused as noob kitten etc.) druid goes far die 1v1 to a power war we can’t get mid cuz necro and other dude die and I can 1v3 midMatchmaking last season ended with 1950
Placement this season:
8 of 10 2 losses due to not even close to be even games (carry potential 0%)
first loss 2 core players both bad + afk druid on close 300-500
second loss perfect team vs 4 warriors 1 dh loss due having team of trolls or people who play randomly a class no idea what it was
lost due to enemy thief stealing 2 beasts 460-500 1v2 entire time and even a 1v3 + done 2 beasts aloneNow the problem is if you don’t duo que you can forget to carry 4 players.
The real problem is just the players themself. People who play 1 profession and not even good are the biggest issue. My losses were all from the same players who played something what doesn’t even close match to the team comp but they don’t care. Bad players on high rank = no fun to play at all. Not that it would be a challange cuz I won this season more then once 1v2s and even twice a 1v3.I thought it was just “random luck” that you get so many bad players but this happend now more then once and a sign to stop pvp ranked for this season =)

The problem with players trolling in rank by only being able or willing to play one single class has already been solved. You want to know how relevant PvP games solve this problem. I told you how Hi Rez does it with Smite since that’s my focus atm.
You wanna play ranked 5v5 conquest? Guest what? You are not only going to have to put in over 80 hours per a account to reach max PvP level. But also you will have to have played enoth on 20 different characters to have a minimal of 20 characters with mastery. This is even before Smite allows you to queue for ranked conquest. kitten that problem was stopped before it even got started ah?
In GW2 you should be forced to hit PvP Rank 80 before even being able to queue for rank. On top of that you should need to show proficiency on at least 3 out of the 9 professions. All of these really minor easy to fix but serious problems. Could have been prevented from even starting up. But nope ANet didn’t even care enoth to put such basic thought about them in a competitive PvP environment.
Love this. If every player had to play even even 25 games across every class to play ranked, well, they might understand how to dodge a dh trap. All I hear is crying that dh is so overpowered, in reality most dh trappers are completely glass and down in seconds when targeted… Kitten s6 and all its noobs…
Separate ques, separate ques. Give unranked the same rewards as ranked please it would end half our troubles.

I agree low population is a massive issue. GW2 is IMO the most beautiful MMO mechanically and visually. For it to be in the state it currently is, it’s really sad.
I personally think that the game needs to be made for casual gamer friendly. Realistically someone who only has enough time to play 1-2hrs a night or every other night is never going to get the legendary weapons e.t.c they oh so desire.. I dread to think how much time legendary armour is going to take..
Jumping into a 50 man bandwagon zerging HOT is just not fun. Gearing up for fractals across different characters to get the rewards you need is time consuming and just not fun.
I really don’t know, maybe Annette just doesn’t care. Maybe they make enough money and are happy with their little kittened off player-base as it is.
What is going on with spvp?
It seems I am stuck at silver 3/gold 1. I main theif/engi/war. I’ve only played 1k games, but it is clearly apparent to me who much of a mess spvp is.
Why do I keep getting matched with teams who see 2dh as a lose. Why can’t these players dodge traps, why can’t they cleanse conditions, why can’t they see I’m 3v1 on stillness when they zerg mid, why can’t they cap points when I’m holding far in 1vX trying to take pressure off the suiciders, better yet why are they even being match-maked to silver?
This season is absolute garbage. I get on a 10 win streak then a 10 lose streak. I can’t move anywhere.
Today I have a mesmer AFK two games in a row, once because she thought it wasn’t an even match up. Second time because a ranger decapped mid when nobody was on it, all because she told our team to cap close and far only.
Another match today I’m against 5 gaurdians, we were losing by 100 pts and 3 team members afk. Seriously Annette, you couldn’t swap a couple players over before the match started? It’s obvious if you can get on a 10 streak that rating doesn’t mean anything so why not balance the games by class rather than skill level?
Not that I have a problem with fighting 5dh or another game 3dh 2war, just the people I’m being matched with don’t understand how to counter these classes. So they afk or just faceroll into the traps.They won’t even switch classes, this is half the problem.
Two theives moaning were against a bunker team, yet neither of them will change class, seriously? You call this competitive gameplay? If you refuse to change classes at least try a staff with acrobatics.
I’m seriously about to give up spvp, I really don’t want to because when I’m having good fights and good teams, even if we lose, I really enjoy the game. But when I go to cap close and watch my entire team melt instantly to mid, then continue to suicide one by one over and over again to the same point, well, it’s really demoralising.
Some things I think could help spvp.
1) Disable daily rewards for ranked gameplay, this will stop matches like today stacking warriors and guardians.
2) Make two separate ranked ques, or, give unranked the same rewards as ranked, this would stop new players being thrown into carnage, and it would also stop new players destroying match making in ranked just to get the rewards.
3) Make a separate solo que from a duo/team que, this would stop highly skilled duos wrecking through new players and would allow a more competitive matchmaking for teams and duos.
4) Please make a ranked 1vs1 que, some other game modes. I’m really getting sick of being told It’s my fault I’m stuck in silver, and that I need to carry 4 new players to increase my rating. There’s only so much one can take. It would be nice to have a break from the 5v5 zergfest that is spvp at the moment.
5) Fix top stats. You are not top anything if you die 10+ times a game, that is -50 points lost. Most games especially on my engi/theif I’m easily surviving the entire game and picking up at least one top stat. How can you get extra points for running into a zerg laying down a kitten tonne of dps then dying because you used all your cooldown. I swear this is another big problem with match-making.
I’ve been flamed a couple of times for having no top stats on the theif, probably because when I +1 a fight I leave the downed body or practically dead body for my team-mate to down. Hell sometimes I’m even nice enough to drop a blind so he stomps successfully.
Obviously these things might affect que times, but you could easily increase the rewards for playing by doing this. GW2 is already a grind for the casual player and IMO, it doesn’t need to be that way.
