Hello there!

We all know that new weapons will be implemented in the future. Which are the weapon types you’d like the most? And, more importantly, how can we avoid disparity between classes?

This should be my top 5 list:

  • Halberd (two-handed): Guardian, Elementalist, Ranger.
  • Greataxe (two-handed): Warrior, Necromancer.
  • Sickle (one-handed): Necromancer, Thief, Mesmer. Yes, it’s one-handed, can you imagine how awesome would be a dual-wielding thief?
  • Flail (one-handed): Warrior, Engineer. Because engi totally needs melee weapons.
  • Crossbow (two-handed, ranged): Ranger, Thief, Engineer.

I tried my best to stop the warrior from owning the majority of weapons.

I think… you are right.

It’s embarassing, after more than 1 year it seems that ANet doesn’t trust us AT ALL!

Always “hinting”… hinting that “something” is coming… what the hell? Do you ANet guys think that every player wants to play the detective?

What it’s done is done, but for the future, please, be less vague. Because you are ruining the CDI philosophy, a pure and honest dialogue between players and developers.

Making the maps larger does not imply that we would want correspondingly more players on the maps. Just increasing the distances between objectives would give more opportunity for open field clashes, and more value to waypointed keeps.

Choke point would be awesome if not for AC’s, AC’s ruin lots of strategic points in this game by dumbing everything down.

I agree with you.

Choke points are important for strategic gameplay, but arrowcarts are too much powerful.

Honestly, I think ac’s radius should be reduced.

I don’t think we’d ever want a map that was just a bunch of canyons.

I agree.

Think of a tower that guards the only pass through a canyon, rather than bridges everywhere. Is that something that, in moderation, could provide for more varied and strategic gameplay?

Definitively. I love the idea of a tower guarding the only passage leading to an important objective. BUT I also think that there should be another way to reach that objectve (a reaaally longer way).

You need to give players a reason to fight, if you can give them a good enough reason then strategy will become a big factor.
Just to give some examples: DAOC had Darkness Falls where holding the objectives RvR unlocked the Darkness Falls dungeon where most of the best loot came from.

I also wanted to continue discussion about changes to Stonemist that might make it a more engaging place to fight over. I think a move to multiple capture points could make it a more difficult place to capture and add some variety to the way the fight plays out.

How about this:

  • 1 main capture point (the actual Lord Room).
  • 3 side capture points, each one protected by an unique Champion Defender (no champion loot bags, so no farm here).
  • If attackers hold 2/3 side capture ponts, defenders have like 5 minutes of time to retake at least one of them. By “holding” I mean that attackers must remain on the circle, otherwise the side capture point will automatically return in defenders’ possession.
  • If attackers hold 3/3 side capture points, it’s an instant capture.
  • If attackers hold the main capture point (Lord Room), it’s an istant capture. Of course defeating the Legendary Castle Lord should be WAAAY more difficult than now.

Also, each side capture point could provide a buff/debuff to StoneMist defenses, as someone suggested before.

Final note: I think that other keeps, not only SM, could benefit these changes.

Matches last 8 hours, there are 21 matches in a week with the same 3 worlds, the winner of the week is the world that wins the most matches over the course of that time.

Sorry, I don’t agree with you, this change would make keep/tower’s upgrades pointless.

Proposal Overview

I think that some of the EotM changes really improve the WvW experience… but not all of them. I vote for:

  • Scaling creatures.
  • New and more difficult NPCs.
  • Destructible terrain.
  • Keeps/Towers with a credible and realistic architectural style and an unique appearance aka keeps/towers revamp. This change was not originally included in Mr. Carter’s list.
  • Themed landscapes (forest, desert, jungle, snow…) aka Borderlands revamp. This change was not originally included in Mr. Carter’s list.

Additional Proposals (personal changes):

  • Larger borderlands.
  • More stategic importance to a single keep/tower/camp.

What I vote against for:

  • Shorter match time.
  • Excessive use of choke points: it’s important to have some of them to counter zergs, but many flowing isles connected by few bridges is a little too much.
  • Supply camp/dolyaks removal.

Goal of Proposal

To improve WvW complexity in order to make it more appealing to both old and new players.

Proposal Functionality

When I think to WvW I think of a mass-scale war and battlefield, where guilds and random players cooperate to ensure the glory of their server. A game mode based on big fights, exciting keep defenses and epic sieges. WvW is not the ultimate form of competitive play, that’s what sPvP is made for, WvW is not about a single group of players, but the ability of a server to conquer and defend some important objectives for a long time (1 week). I suggest these changes aiming to a more tactic-based gameplay, while playing in a beatiful and appealing scenario and while having the feeling of doing something important for your server.

Associated Risks

Lot of hard work for the WvW team ( <3 you guys!).
These changes could encourage zerg-based gameplay. We should avoid that.

Side Note: StoneMist Castle is the perfect example of what a keep should not be: a plain and empty courtyard. EotM keeps are far more interestings.

I’d like to say my opinion on this topic:

I think CDIs in general should be quicker (no more than 2 weeks) and at the same time more publicised by ANet.

I mean, every time I have to explain to my guildies what are CDIs, what CDIs topic we discussed, summarize the entire thing…

My suggestion: next time in the patch notes, after listing all the in-game changes, you put a big, shiny “NEW CDI HAS STARTED! TOPIC: COMMANDER SYSTEM. FEEL FREE TO JOIN!!!”.

WvW - Three Likes & Three Hates

Likes:

N°2 and n°3 of these come from what I heard about the new Edge of the Mists map.

  • More keep customisation (and more reasons to claim/defend a keep in general).
  • Stronger keep lords.
  • Permanent Server Alliance between servers of different leagues.

Dislikes:

  • Maps are too small.
  • Border Maps look identical.
  • StoneMist Castle is empty and boring, it looks more a giant arena rather than a castle (in my opinion of course). Could you make it more interesting?

Pardon me for asking this again, but by “New Weapons” do you mean “New Weapon Skills” or “New Weapon Types”? Because…

I think New Weapons Types should be available from the start, and not after completing a challenge.
I mean, if Halberds are suddenly added to the game, I’d like to try them immediately. Also, I would expect new weapons to be easily available to low-level characters.

Even if I REALLY REALLY like all the Sociopolitical Diversification ideas, my vote goes to…

Hero Diversification, specifically more Weapons, more Skill customisation, more Skins for each game activity, more customisation of our hero in general!

  • 1. Guild System/Activities Improvement: Guild Halls, GvG, Alliances and everything new about guilds.
  • 2. Skill Customisation & Skill Upgrades: more weapon types, more Utility and Weapon skills, more skill customization such as multiple upgrades.
  • 3. More Weapon and Armor sets: Fractal Armor, Guild Armor, Dragon Weapons & Armor… and don’t forget capes!

My suggestions can be summarized in 3 points:

More Skills:

  • More Weapon Skills: I think every weapon of each profession should have at least one more option for each skill slot (with the exception of Skill 1). Important!: I’m NOT suggesting to add more skill slots! Hell no! I am proposing Weapon Skills to be selectable like Utility Skills (Utility skills can be equipped in the utility slot we want, but these new weapons skills should be locked to a particular weapon skill slot). I know, this would result in a lot of hard work and balance fixes, but it would add huge customization!
    Before discarding this idea, consider it carefully, please
  • More Utility Skills: this doesn’t need an explanation. Just do a nice work like you did with healing skills ^^
  • More Weapon Types: Halberd, Flail, Two-handed Axe…
  • Unique PvE Skills: Skills granted only by completing a challenge (a solo istance, JP, killing a particular boss in solo…).

More Skins:

  • Fractal Armor set, purchaseable with relics.
  • Champion Loot Armor set, and more Champion Loot weapons.
  • Dragon Chest Armor and Weapon set.
  • Guild Armor set, purchaseable with Commendations (we already have a weapon set, no?).
  • More skins to lower levels.
  • Cloaks and a back Guild Banner (Sashimono style, not the back banners sold by the Trader at the moment).

More Activities:

  • Guild Halls (with some cool and fun features, like a Room Istance for each guild member, NPC guards and traders, and upgrades).
  • Guild Alliance system.
  • Guild vs Guild.
  • More Jumping Puzzles, and better rewards for completing them (skill points, skins, etc.).
  • New activities.

Extra: revamp of The Shatterer and Claw of Jormag like you did with Tequatl.

I know I’m late, but I’d like to express my idea about the acquisition of Ascended gear.

Personally, I think this tier of equipment should be obtainable through different ways, not only crafting (and I see lot of players agree with me).

My idea is very simple: through Badges of Honor, Glory and Guild Commendations, because each of these tokens represent a different part of GW2. Players would be able to obtain Ascended gear by playing the part they enjoy the most.

ex: Random Ascended Sword:

  • 200 Badges of Honor + 5 gold
  • 20000 Glory + 5 gold
  • 10 Guild Commendations + 5 gold

Now, why is “random” important?
Because crafting gives the opportunity to choose the type of set the player wants (Zojja, Tonn, etc.), but it’s a long method and way more expansive than the “token + gold” method I listed above.
There is a total of 18 Ascended Sword, so it’s very unlikely that the player get the exact sword with just one try. But, at the same time, he get the opportunity to equip all the alts he has.
ex: I want a Zojja’s Greatsword for my warrior -> I spend 20000 Glory + 5 gold to buy “Random Ascended Greatsword” -> I get Tonn’s Greatsword instead… too bad, BUT I could give this weapon to my guardian! (of course these weapons should be Account Bound ).

Sooo… what do you think?

Armor / Weapon Skin Everlasting Contest!

Hello!

What I’m proposing is an idea that came in my mind while reading Chris Whiteside’s “Collaborative Development” post.
He confirmed ArenaNet’s will to listen to GW2 community and build this game together (Devs and players).

So, I often notice people complaining about weapons/armors skins, expecially the new ones. Personally I’d like, more than everything, to see more serious-toned skins, and for this I mean less glowing effect and less “decorations” (still love the restyle of TA weapons though!)

How about making a contest in which players send you their own armor/weapon Concept Arts? And you promising to actually add in the game the most worthy ones?

I’m sure there are many talented people out there who’d love to share their creativity with you! You ArenaNet guys would be able to prove that you care about interacting with your community, and players would be happy see some nice new skins designed by fellow players and realized by devs.

Of course I’m talking about something frequent, like a monthly contest! (the “everlasting” I put in the title maybe is a little too much… ).

Think about it! And if there is something very wrong about this idea, please, let me know.

I know for sure that they ARE working on Guild Halls and Guild capes/cloaks.
Not sure about GvG though, and it’s a pity, it would really bring a new perspective to Guilds and PvP.

New WvW feature: My own soldier!

Hello there!

How about being able to summon a personal skirmisher to follow you in WvW battles? It could be a new, expansive skill (like 100 world skill points).

I’d like this soldier to have some customization, the player should be able to:

1. Upgrade the soldier damage/defense, of course with a price (ex: 25 WP —>+ 10% damage).
2. Change his role (wizard, archer…) out of combat, each one with different skills.
3. Change soldier’s race/gender.
4. Customize weapons and armor aesthetics (just few different presets, and the possibility to dye the armor).
5. Upgrade his rank from Normal to Veteran ( with an huuuge price in world points).

ALSO I really think that a personal skirmisher should carry a Guild Banner, not wielding it, but carrying it sashimono style! Just imagine a large group of players charging with mixed guild banners on top of them!

Btw, how about adding the Guild Sashimono to our current backs? I’m sure lot of players would love to wear them, expecially on a guild raid.

Agreed, but personally I would replace the elementalist with the necromancer.
And warriors should be able to use that weapon too.

I really like the idea.
