Is that the same reason as why I currently can’t log in to the support, to check my ticket status ? Because I’ve noted my password on paper, and even though I enter it correctly, it still tells me that my password is wrong.

If there where actual Raids that needed 8-10-16-20-25 people then yes I could understand the NEED for communication. But these are just 5 man dungeons!

I just feel like there is a flaw with that type of system, and I know people are going to disagree but this is how I feel.

Two things come to mind :.

1/ You have an entire game, based on the fact that you don’t have to group. The dungeon must represent not even 5% of what is available to you. But still, you’re not happy because those 5% requires communication. Seriously ? I feel that you’re asking for too much.
I mean, this is the way people are nowadays. You offer them a truckload of content they can do solo, without grouping, being alone in their little corner of the world. You put just a tiny portion of the game in a different perspective, to allow players who like coordination and team play to have some challenge. And there you go : people complain because some content is not designed to be rushed and finished in 10 minutes.

2/ Everywhere I see people complaining that the game is too easy. I see people whining that it’s a game for casual, because you don’t even have to group or speak to a NPC to get your quests (whatever the logic behind that is…). This is weird. Content is either too easy, either too hard for people. They want some challenge, but they don’t want difficulty.

No hard feelings, maybe that’s not how OP see things, but I guess your remarks made me think about all those people who complain all the time even when you give them what they want.

Still no word from the Support system on my ticket to get my account unlocked. It is going on 4 days. This feels like I got a temp ban for something I did not even do.

Same for my wife. 4 days and not a word. You would have thought it would take five minutes to see that nobody tried anything and that the suspension was useless, but I guess with so much tickets going on about everything (sometimes things that aren’t even bugs) things tend to take longer time than usual…
My only hope is that after 5 days I get the right to post on the 5 days old topic thread to speed things a little bit. Too bad for the week end

What action were you doing in the world ? Taking things from bank ? Selling/buying at trading post ? Any interaction with the guild stash, deposit or withdraw ? Any action repeated a high number of times ?

‘cause I’m starting to think that they tried to “automated” some things, and it’s getting… unfortunate results.

—> What were you doing before login off, or just before you were kicked out of game ? Just to verify if there is a common point to people getting suspended.

Precisely. Judging by the number of topics on the subject, this at least give us the information that something wrong is going on, and not necessarily on users part, but maybe on the way Anet seems to """"""prevent"""""" (lots of quotes here, because that’s highly uncertain) hacking. Maybe they have tried a new way of detecting hacking attempt and it’s not working as intended, like creating false positive.

Anyway, that was a good idea to create a topic, because maybe that will encourage Anet to communicate on the subject.

So yesterday evening the account of my wife got suspended. She came back from work, logged in, made a few sell on the trading post, crafted some stuff, put items in the guild bank, withdraw some, and then all of sudden she got disconnected. As she tried to log in again, she got a nice message :

“We have detected that your account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual. For your security, your access to this account has been suspended until this matter can be resolved. Etc…”

The thing is, she didn’t received any mails saying that another IP was trying to connect. Nor did she received any mails later from Anet saying WHY her account got suspended. I read the sticky from this forum, saying that normally Anet would send an email saying why they suspended your account, but they didn’t.

So here is my question. In the previous mentioned message, it says that her account “may” have been accessed. To which point does this “may” extend ? Did someone tried to login with a wrong password ?
That seems a relevant question to me since there’s no proof whatsoever (no IP authorization request) that someone did tried to do that. And even if that was the case, does Anet suspend account that are the object of too many failed attempt at password ?

Anyway she changed her password immediately, run a full scan on her computer without finding anything relevant, and submitted a ticket for her case (her ticket number is : 120914-004764 )

So, is it possible to get any feedback on which grounds Anet base itself to suspend an account ? Maybe I should add that she didn’t do anything proscribed, and didn’t misbehave on chat or in-game (she barely speaks on public channels anyway). Plus, her password is unique for the game, she didn’t give it to anyone, she didn’t use the game from any other computer.

Thanks in advance if you can give me any useful information. I guess we just have to wait until it’s resolved now, but I have this feeling that whatever the outcome is, we’ll never know for sure what happened.

PS : the game is great anyway, that must be said too !

Weather reporting in good intentions or not, reporting multiple times is considered an abuse of the reporting system and is against the ToS. It could also lead to account suspension and/or account termination.

That makes me think I should not forget to block them each time I report a gold seller. Because right now, I don’t, and maybe I’ve been reporting the same guy like 25 times without knowing it was the same account ^^

It would be stupid though, getting banned just because I want to help Anet clean up their game
And for people flamming Cazio, don’t forget that you don’t pay a monthly fee. The only way for Anet to make money once a game has been sold, is through the currency exchange. So actually, gold sellers are quite an important matter. Plus, it contributes to destroy the economy, so don’t complain if the prices are ridiculously low at the TP.

Anyway, Cazio, give Anet a week or two for them to solve their current issues, and resume your crusade by that time if nothing has changed Just keep it cool bro, and try to enjoy the game as much as possible, even though these bloody bots are everywhere :/

I had the same issue. Tried to empty cache, it didn’t work. But then I used a third party software (Ccleaner) to empty my cache, and it worked. Maybe you should try that

I just want to say that I love the Leftpaw fellow, but truth to tell, except for his name, I didn’t know he only had one paw… At first I thought his name was Leftpaw because he was clumsy. But then during the Claw’s island story quest he says that since he lost his paw, things have not been the same for him, and I was like “Whaaaat ? He actually misses one ?”

I felt bad because he is a great character, and that lack of background seemed uncalled for. Now that I think about it, when I did the “protection mission” of you-know-who, and he was disguised like that person, he did say “and I have two hands !”, but I thought it was because Charrs have, well, paws, not hands.
But I have to admit that it’s one little details compared to a lot of plot holes/missing dialogue. For instance, during that very same mission on Claw’s island, who the hell is the “package” that Trahearne is holding ? Not a word about it, or maybe I missed something :/

ok i had a big post written out and i deleted it because it sounded whiny. In sort, where is the best place to farm eggs and butter. Read on if you feel like hearing some of my opinions on cooking, otherwise thanks for the tips on where to farm eggs.

I will add a little whine that cooking in its current state is ridiculous. It was already the most complex craft, the amount of ingredient options is staggering and now that we have to rely on drops its pretty much useless….eggs really?! I have to go out and farm them on purpose now?! How is killing swarms of moa’s rewarding and engaging?

So, before the nerf cooking was easy to level but that did not cut down on its complexity and it was and still is very counter-intuitive. Now its just unfun.

When you went to the Master Chef Trainer, did you actually read what he told you, three times ? That it was hard ? Time consuming ? Really hard ? I SAID ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO BE A CHEF ? Like three times ? (yeah, it’s been already twice that I say three times). Three times ? (There we go).

I find it only natural that it’s hard, it was designed this way. And I must say I like it that way. Except for the butter drop rate, but that’s another matter.

Although I don’t like duels, and I don’t like being spammed by request for duel from people who don’t even say hello, I understand that some people want that option, to test their builds, measure their strength (not to mention the size of their… sword), or simply pass the time while fighting (What about PvP then ? Yes, good question).

So here’s my suggestion : Maybe there should be a designated area in each town where duels are allowed, but not in the rest of the world. I see 2 advantages, and 2 downside to it.
1. Duels are limited to a precise area, and if you don’t like dueling, you can just stay out of that part of town, or on the opposite, if you like dueling, you know where to look for.
2. More people gathered inside town means livelier town (or chat), and thus more people available if you have a question / need help / want to form a party / etc…

3. First downside, there is a risk that towns get laggy, and that much people in the same place causes possible server issues.
4. What about the war effort ? In WvW, we need people, and if they prefer to duel rather than help their server, it might be an issue. If people who like duel also don’t like PvP, it might not be a problem, but I don’t think it’s the case.

I guess it should be given more thoughts, but here’s my contribution even though I don’t really feel the need for that option in the game.

OK point made with the crafting, but if it pisses you off so much there’s five other cities you can go craft in. You reported him, and we don’t need to hear your minute-by-minute playthrough about how he’s still there.

Trouble is, spamming occurs in each of the five cities.

About that, I had a question : Which option is better to report gold selling ? Report for spamming, or report for scamming ? I figured that maybe one might be better for Anet to track them down. Some people were saying that spamming should be better, since it just requires to check the channel logs, but well, if they didn’t spam that much, I don’t want my report to backfire at me.

Anyway, I know that Anet must have their hands full with technical issues right now, but I do find very troublesome that not 5 minutes after I join a city, I already see 3 messages in the chat of 3 different gold sellers… Isn’t it possible to filter the chat, and ban every sentence including “www” + “gold” + “cheap” + “fast delivery” + “X$=Xg” ?
It just make me sick thinking that there might actually be people stupid enough to buy gold from external sellers, with all the security issues that come along with it…
And I also fear that in truth, a lot more people than we think use that kind of services. It’s saddening.
