Hey arenanet, since you released Chaos Longbow it had some problems wich i will try to describe you in words and show you with a video.
1.My animation is on high and sometimes on human`s autoattack it wont pull the string of the bow.
2.While going in stealth, the Longbow will get the aspect of an square.
3.Other effects like food efects (omnomberry ghost) will create the same square bug wich will block any kind of animation.

I got Chaos Longbow in the same week that you realeased it, it had this problem since ever,and my question is,Will you ever fix this bug ?

Anet, can you pay a little attention to the WvW players?All you do is to add kittenty Pve content that everybody does for 2 days then it becomes a grind for loot.
We are sick of defending for hours and getting nothing in return, fighting massive blobs because the imbalanced matchup,sitting in a structure to upgrade it for hours then lose it in 5 mins and waste everything that you made there.
Wake up arenanet stop adding useless content that nobody wants !!!!!

I like the fact that the “Long range shot” had the same damage since ever and nobody complained about it before, people got so used to free kills rangers that now when they actually get killed by a ranger they start crying, why don`t you guys complain when you get one shot from a power necro`s lich form, Thief D/d,Shatter mesmer,zerk warrior,Greatsword Guardian.
Ranger has been in the trashcan for so long now, i`ve been playing it since i got in the game and all WvW guilds/PvE guilds/PvP teams refused me before and told me to reroll, and now when it is finally in line with other characters everybody complain about it.
Deal with it ranger finally got in line with all the proffesions, no longer kitteneless class.

I’m curious why you choose Eagle Eye over Piercing Arrows it seems like when i don’t run PA alot of my shots get body blocked by clones,minions, and pets. Also do you think it would be worth it to use a Bloodlust sigil on GS instead of air or fire?

Eagle eye is allowing you to get very nice positioning and in the same time “Long range shot” will now benefint of 500 more range for that big damage over 1000+ range, you just have to play a bit without piercing arrow you will get used to.
About the sigils, i preffer Air/fire for some spike damage, but you can easly replace Fire with Bloodlust, personally i don`t like to use stack based stats wich go off on death/down. Keep in mind that my spec is a Ganking spec in WvW/Assasin in PvP, i run the exactly same in both of them.

I also run with a mid sized guild, my personal method is to activate troll unguent right before i try to burst down a reta taget or land a barrage on a group so i can heal most of the damage i will take, anyway you can use the proctection proc when dodge after landing a barrage so you can hold a bit more damage.

I might have to switch my heals then, right now I’m running Spring so the group can blast it, if we’ve got enough Ele’s I’ll see if I can change it. Thanks.

Btw, my style in WvW is as a ganker/Roamer/scout so you should pick my build and troll unguent just if you plan to stay out of the zerg.

How are you finding things like retal? I run a glass build and run in a mid sized guild group. We look for similar sized fights around the map and I’m having trouble with taking a reasonable chunk of damage purely from retaliation. Any tips? Anything I’m overlooking that could help?

You know one thing the LB change really helped us on in WvW – defending from the keep walls.

There is usually a glass ele or necro dropping aoe on the wall. I’ll position myself, get my healing going, jungle spider F2, QZ+RF and then I will snipe them dead and terminate their aoe. If they are paying attention, they can peel off but usually their is enough punch, plus the imob to down them.

Yes, the patch finally allowed us to be in line with the other WvW classes, we can finally burst down like the thief/warrior does.

As far as I could tell, all you faced in that video were power builds, mostly glassy. How would this measure up against someone specced into conditions and tanking? Just outrange and kill or run?

I used to run a very similar build myself (a while ago) before this buff, so I’m curious how it’s working out nowadays, given the prevalence of condition spam.

Well, my build/play style seems to be countered brutally by condition thief wich apply condi then sthealth and repeat and i can`t land any of my damage on him correctly, but with other is fairly easy because you just gotta outrange them and not allow to to come to you so often, while using my bear to benefit for the condi removal from him.

The long range shot damage have the same damage at maxium so it was like that for the last 2 years and nobody cared because everybody just underestimated this class and all were playing Condi specs instead of power.

The sad reality is that in most situations the ranger`s pet is useless, Why ?lemme give you some simple examples:
-Pet pathfinding is poor,for example if you orded it to attack a thief(who is constantly moving/dodge)the pet will end up doing circles around the target instead of attacking it.
-The pet cannot autoattack while moving, to be able to land an attack first will have to reach the target and hold the position for a little moment and then will attack.
-Pet can`t jump over a cliff,birds have wings just for the desing as example, so whenever you will get down a cliff you`ll find your pet running on a very long way around the cliff(pathfinding)
-The pet got no intelligence at all, no dodge or self defense system, in wvw send him in a grp of 3 people and in the next 5 sec you will hear “My pet needs help/Pet down” because it will walk/stay in every aoe that your enemy will cast

If they can`t fix the pet atleast remove the traits refering to them or remove it completly and rename the class in “archer” and put a bow instead of the bear paw.

Hey, I feel I can chime in now. I’ve fought Mike In the 1v1 servers several times on my ranger and I have a few things to add.

Firstly your use of bear still baffles me, switch it to a more useful pet please. The second thing is that you rely on your bow too much, and you seem to treat each weapon as something to cycle through between bow auto attacks…you’re not bad with the bow so don’t take it the wrong way, however when someone gets in your face you tend to struggle a bit, often missing PBS or your stealth. You also start with PBS and RF a lot, and like someone said above RF is best used up close, and PBS should be saved for those moments when you need to think outside of your own situation.

You’re still pretty new to Ranger PvP though so thanks for sharing the video and keep practising! There aren’t many decent Rangers in PvP so hopefully you can join the ranks.

Dahkeus and Solrik have some great advice.

I would only add to what Solrik said regarding swoop and rapid fire is with the upcoming changes, this advice is due a relooking.

When the new swoop comes, you’ll actually want to use it as both a gap closer and at close range for the evade it’ll provide in the attack as the circumstances warrant.

What Solrik said about Rapid Fire being best at close range is also true, but there is no shame in using it on someone fleeing on low health if you feel the burst will down them faster then LRS.

This is going to be even more true when Rapid Fire is buffed to fire off even faster then it does now. Not to mention if you have a friend in the mix giving chase, the vulnerability does help.

It just depends. It comes back up fast enough, but these kinds of split second decisions are what usually decides if you land the kill or not.

Your fights themselves were generally good and you tend to survive even your tougher ones. Well played power ranger, bonus for not being meta cheese.

You definitely made the right choice with greatsword on swap over shortbow.

Keep PvPing and keep in mind the goal is to take and defend those points in addition to good play and you’ll be golden.

Wanna make a video – please show ALL of the play, not just the “good play”. Your mistakes is just as valuable a learning experience for others as the times you do good.

The gw2 build editor is currenylu down so i left a picture of my traits.
I`m using LB/GS on both i got Sigil of air/fire, Berserk amulet and rune of the scholar
and i`m using The spider with paralyzing and the bear (for condi removal and ressing me while i`m down)

Never underestimate a ranger, it is capable of doing great damage and great manouvers.
I wanted to to a video with some random pvp footage before the patch.

1.Remove(and replace with somthing usefull)/Rework the ranger pet because it is not able to auto attack targets on the move, not able to pathfind correctly, not able to jump over a cliff, he is going/staying straing in any Aoe,spells no use in the pet at all
2.Give some attention to PvP maybe some new game modes and some new maps , 10vs10/15vs15 on bigger maps would be great with other mods like “capture the flag” or somthing.
3.Force people out of zergs because for example in WvW, staying stacked on a command and pressing 3 keys isn`t really somthing fun or skill based,same in pve, staying stacked somewhere autoattacking the boss and blasing a water field isn`t really fun (This will remain probably a dream)

Me and a friend did this, use Skype and use Ctrl T together, focus fire the same kitten and they literally don’t stand a snowflakes chance in hell at surviving.

Also, this video was MUCH better than your previous one, the fights imo didn’t seem as cheesy, it’d be nice to see a few more like the one 1v2 near the end vs the ranger and thief, or a handful or more “close calls” ones, but there’s definite improvement, keep it up!!

Things to consider:
Changing your pets for fear wolf/drake hound, if you like the kitty, then I would take the snow leopard. That way you have CC to help lock down your enemy.
I would definitely swap heal wolf for fear wolf and lynx for snow leopard at least, if not take 2 dogs.

The rest is optional:
You have no condi clear, so I would consider swapping QZ for SoR.

Consider swapping QZ for protect me even, though you have SoS so it’s not needed.

Consider using runes of the pack instead of runes of the ranger you end up with near perma swiftness once in combat and more fury up time, near same precision as with runes of ranger and higher power.

Consider changing one of your adept skirmishing traits to moment of clarity and/or nightmare runes with that for more defense (6s fear proc).
Consider losing one of those adept traits and go 6/5/3/0/0 for protection on dodge roll.
