I only have one character, my ranger. But I really enjoy the Druid.
I am a solo player and I have to say I am enjoying myself very much. The maps are beautiful and one of my favorite things about this expansion is the music alone. I haven’t done a whole lot of the content and heavy events yet and I don’t yet fully understand how the events tie together, but I will. I spend the majority of my time exploring and it feels like a battle of wits between me and the map when I am trying to figure out "How do I get up there…?” And usually having to start from an extremely far off point on the map since I only have the basic gliding. Great job, you really put a lot of heart and soul in this expansion.
Thank you for the information. Much appreciated !
I am receiving the following message after trying several times to log in. This is only after this downloaded patch that just happened recently.
I think the challenging level is just right. I wouldn’t want to walk around like a Jesus smiting foes left and right without even a bruise. That is not fun. It is the direction that a game like WoW took more and more until they milked any challenge out of it many years ago. Also take Diablo 3 as an example as well. My opnion.
I think the 400 Hero Point requirement was fine, but then again I only play ONE character only. I can see how this can be a process for the people that have multiple characters, but only to a point. I think I saw a player here with 28 toons that was still complaining. I find that quite a bit excessive to the point that if you are still asking for easier access to the skills, you are being a bit selfish. If you are going to make 28 characters, you need to also be prepared for the 28 times responsibility you are taking upon yourself to keep those characters up to date. That alt excuse can only go so far, in my opinion.
While I had no problem with the expansion or the work of the Hero Points at all. I must commend you for the open communication lines that you always keep with your players. Not unhealthy communication lines in terms of giving everything in a silver platter, but really trying to do what you feel is best for the game and saying “No” when it is needed.
Hmm, it didn’t look like the one from the sword. There was too many bats and it had that sort of smokey blurry effect that the shoulders do. I could be wrong, but it looked just like it. And with all the running in circles the Hero Points in the HoT areas require sometimes, it definitely wasn’t another player. I guess I’ll never know for sure >.<
I saw a female norn necromancer with them on in Verdant Brink. She also had that Black Lion Ticket Bat Greatsword from Halloween. She helped me do a Hero Point and I just kept looking at her thinking, " O_O There’s a lot of people trying to make that……" Sorry, I should have asked her -_-

Without any rush of my own, I started collecting Hero Points. Just at a leisurely pace as I explore the maps, stop for bosses and events, stop for vistas and masteries. If I arrive at a Hero Point that is empty I ask in map chat if anyone is interested. The minimum so far that I did a Champion Hero Point was with 3 people including myself. So far, I am having a great time. I play solo with no guild but I do find a person here or there that is willing to work together towards a common goal, or even just being helpful. So I haven’t had any issues and it doesn’t feel grindy at all. No repetition, just new and awesome exploration.
I think that is lovely. I am glad something was placed in the game to remember your friend

For the sake of feedback, I’ll put it in my two cents. I am fine with it the way it is. I don’t have the elite spec yet, nor am I even close. But it is just something to work towards and I am okay with that.
Yes, despite a few minor grumbles and being able to empathise towards some of the complaints (maps lacking coherency and elites not being unlockable as easily as they should be) I am thoroughly enjoying the expac.
It is a shame so many spoilers are flying around the forum, including a big reveal from a dev who didn’t think it was important to spoiler tag their post, however it’s just a good excuse not to visit these forums as much..
That’s a real shame. I try to be really careful on what I click on for that reason. Any topic that seems spoiler suspicious, I never click. I came close one time but I immediately closed the browser window.
I haven’t unlocked my Elite yet but I am in no rush to since it is more of a support role. However, during my exploration in these maps I do have to say the way everything was designed was amazing. The maps, to me, are complex and hard to navigate which I find very enjoyable. The personal story has also had an impact on me, right in the feels… On my drive to work, I couldn’t stop thinking about the Personal Story. Getting worried and ending up with more questions than answers. So far, I am having a good time with this challenging expansion.
I am excited about this. I was always bummed that you can only be barefoot with the tier 2 Sylvari Light Armor Shoes. I will definitely be wearing these for my Ranger.
Every indication is that LS2 is permanently available, as are DT/SW in their current incarnations.
It may be a while before you find enough people running the SW map to do VW, though, as everyone will be off doing the new shiny stuff. The events in DT/SW are not LS-related, they’re just the mechanics of the two maps. You can farm them without ever touching LS. Again, though, they’re not meant for solo play so if you want to experience the maps with enough others around you likely need to do them this week.
As for doing LS2 in a rush, well, as I say you should be able to play it forever once you have it. But you might want at least a story run through (I could host you through that this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon if you’re NA) so you understand what’s happening in the HoT LS. Though that could spoil the experience a little for when you want to do it for rewards, and you wouldn’t be in control of dialogue speed or object interaction, nor would you get the fun of figuring out what to do next.
edit: I’m heading off to non GW2 stuff for a bit, so convert “this afternoon” to “this evening.” (Eastern time).
Thank you for your information. It was very helpful! I don’t want to rush through Season 2 since I am very interested in the story. I only thought I would have to if it was going to disappear. But now I know I can take my time doing the story before jumping into expansion content. I will keep everything you said in mind and purchase the Season 2 Pack. Thanks again! (I will add you)
This will probably come out with the expansion happening. But I would like gathering tools inspired by plant/jungle. Like the Dreamcleaver from Season 1. I wish they would have added the scythe and pick counterpart of that.
I am about ready to purchase the Season 2 Living Story Pack and I had a few questions before I made the commitment. Any information player or staff can give me would be greatly appreciated.
1. Will Season 2 remain in the game after Heart of Thorns? Will I need to rush through the content if it is going away?
2. Will I be able to do the Living Story events at Drytop and Silverwaste or will I be too late? I would like to be able to get to farm the fossil weapons and do Vinewrath and such.
Just wondering it will remain for a bit longer after the expansion or if it will be shelved.
