Gate of Madness
Darkhaven.. Your numbers..
O__O;;
So today I stumbled upon some further evidence that this is a legitimate reference to Chrono Trigger. An escort event culminated in the Abbey Ruins and ended with Alfa walking away from his usual spot and up the stairs to the entrance where he stood for a few moments. Then, a veteran ghost mob spawned next to him named “The Prophet”. As combat begins, The Prophet states “The power of Ascalon is unimaginable. Oppose it, and meet your doom”.
The Prophet was Magus’s nickname, and in Chrono Trigger he states something to the tune of ‘unimaginable is the power of lavos.. anyone who dares oppose it will face certain doom’.
There are too many things here for this to be a coincidence. I’ve made a post on the wiki about it, it would be ideal to get some developer feedback so we can update the wiki confidently. Nudge nudge..
Here is the event I was referring to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_Ascalonian_ghost_leader_in_Abbey_Ruins
I agree..
Besides. I’m level 80 with like 300+ skill points that I don’t know what to do with. I could probably teach that stupid trainer a thing or two about his profession..
I don’t mind the cost, just let me reset my traits in the field for the same cost.
yeah bro you diffidently wiped us. Guildie managed to capture this video. Dont worry we wiped that same zerg again 5 minutes later without the cannons.
All the ball busting that occurs in these match-up threads is pretty harmless stuff, and mostly just guys blowing off some steam after getting down in it in WvW for a while. I want to give your guy the benefit of the doubt (even though you’re the one linking the video here) that he was doing the same thing and didn’t really mean anything by it, even with the history between our servers, but I can’t. It feels like it goes further than simply poking each other harmlessly in the eye on the forums when you put up a video with a title that calls us out as being stupid, you guys made a legit play and won the battle, so why not just win gracefully?
Looking forward to your conclusions from the June 25th update, your build is one of the ones I drew from when I started getting more into WvW.
I’m all for them releasing content every two weeks.. but I hope most of it is permanent. Between shift work, overtime, and growing family obligations a gamer can find it pretty hard to free up the hours they want.
I like all of the winter areas, the snow fall, wind, and drifts reminds me of home.
I also loved the Crystal Desert in GW1 and I really, really hope we get back in there in the future.
Well, you definitely inspired me to take the plunge I’ve been thinking about doing for a while and taking my Mesmer into more PvP. Sucks to see you go right after I decided to do it though.
It’s a tough go being new at PvP. I get absolutely rocked most of the time, just gotta suck up the repair bill and focus on getting better though.
Good luck wherever you end up.
Okay, I’ve scoured Gendarran Fields for almost 2 hours and I don’t see anything.
Is this some random bug fix to prevent players from falling through the world in a certain place?
Anyone find this ‘new rock formation’ they mention for Gendarran Fields?
I’ve run across most of the map, nothing really jumped out at me.
When I was first levelling I ran GS/Staff, I found the staff helped immensely with survivability and kind of let me be more sloppy with my own movement and positioning. I also found the #2 backstep/clone creation seemed to trick enemies more as opposed to other clones which I felt they ignored more often.
Mesmers seem to compound their strength around level 40 and I noticed I was having an easier time and stuff was melting faster around me.
Now that I’ve been 80 for a while and am gearing up, I absolutely love greatsword and sword/focus. I always read that sword/focus does huge damage but I never noticed it in my early levels, I felt like it was too dangerous and I got hurt more than I did the hurting. Not anymore, I run full zerker gear and sword/focus does some sweet damage. Plus the master Inspiration trait ‘Wardens Feedback’ which causes your temporal curtain and iWarden to reflect projectiles created huge ranged enemy hate. Add the Reflect utility and you’ve got 3 options to shut down ranged enemies, and sometimes your timing is just right and they absolutely blow themselves up with their own damage.
I’ve noticed this on my Mesmer too. The looping animations seem to play for a bit longer than the regular animation, but I can’t seem to get it stuck in an infinite loop again (we could glitch with mind stab, blurred frenzy)
iZerker also feels weaker for me.
I don’t like how every time a patch comes out, we get this nice big post detailing all* the changes, but then the real game is on to double check all of our skills and come here to learn what got ninja nerfed, buffed, or bugged.
*some
All in the name of balance, lads.
It would be nice to get some developer confirmation of this. I think there are too many connections for this to be just a coincidence
- The sword looks like the Masamune
- Interacting with the sword makes a reference to an inscription faded by time. Melchior’s name is inscribed on the Masamune in CT
- A frog is jumping around it
- The cat is named Alfa. I can’t find any connection to a cat named Alfa in GW1 or 2, so the only thing I can think of is Alfador from CT. And I may be reaching a bit here, but given Square’s tendency to protect their intellectual property like hawks* and threatens to sue everyone who uses it, it would make sense for Anet to avoid directly mentioning anything from CT to avoid Squeenix from calling in the legal artillery on their heads.
But yeah.. Any developer care to comment? Would be nice to update the wiki.
I was just thinking this after finally finding a combination of light armour that feels ‘Mesmer’ to be, in the essence of how they were in GW1. Most of the light armor feels like stuff an Elementalist would be at home in, all flowing robes and big typical ‘mage’ stuff. But Mesmers were about pants, suits, dresses, and other attire that nobility would wear. They dressed to the nines, and I want it back. I’m all for having armour varieties that span all classes, but I want some that are specific to the classes too.
- Who doesn’t miss monks covered head to toe in ink? I sure do, since that was my main
- Classy mesmers
- Freaky necros
I hope some more class specific attire comes in future patches.
Overall looks like more of a general content/bug fix extravaganza across the game in general with not much focus on specific profession changes.. which is fine by me.
I found the early levels of my Mez (now level 60) very tough, up until about 20. From 20 to 40 I found it was still pretty tough, but not as bad. At 40 I really felt something change (not just because this was right around the time they nerfed the hell out of iZerker :P ) but the traits really come together and the power of the Mez really shows. So have patience at the start and be ready to kite around like a maniac.
Yeah.. I spent an hour running around trying to figure out what happened to my damage after the last patch. I had been gone for a few weeks on vacation so I was checking my gear, re-checking my gear, and then second guessing myself that maybe my iZerker was always doing damage like that. I love my Mesmer, but it’s kinda hard to stand behind the class when the nerfs (or bugs?) come hard and fast like this and no Dev seems interested enough to even drop a line to say they’re looking into it.. or they know about it.. or it was intentional.. or anything. I Have a Warrior, Guardian, Thief, and Ranger.. Didn’t like any of them nearly as much as I liked playing a Mesmer.. Guess I’ll try a Necro? At least until this gets sorted out, if it ever does.
