Guild Wars 2

I left a few months ago to dig into my console backlog that GW2 caused, and honestly I don’t find myself missing GW2 like I thought I would. After the sheer amount of time I sunk into this game, it was hard for me to drop it because it felt like I was abandoning something I was very invested in. It took the guild I was in disbanding due to most members increasing IRL commitments for me to actually pull the trigger on quitting. I’m honestly not surprised that after randomly coming back to the forums just to see what’s up that I found a thread like this.

After a little more forum perusing, it sure doesn’t look like much has changed: nothing new or exciting for WvW, sPVP is still 5v5 conquest with virtually no red posts in the forums, etc, etc.

Seeing the game still in this state certainly doesn’t have me regretting my decision. Props to those of you who are still here (especially if you’ve been here all the way through GW1 and GW2 launch), you’re a far more loyal fan than me.

I wanted the devs to give me a reason to stay, sad to see it still hasn’t happened.

Keep it up, I liked your last round of video on the assortment of Warrior builds you posted. Anything in the works for Ele or Guard since you also have them listed in your signature?

Or more specifically, more of them. I was having this conversation with a guild mate today and we thought it would be fun if the game had more statistics. As far as I’m concerned they don’t need to be tied to achievements or any kind of unlocks (although they could be if you want).

The possibilities are really endless, but it could include stuff like: favorite enemy (what you have killed the most of), nemesis (what killed you the most), time since death, xp since death, total number of deaths, total pvp kills (this is crossing over into already existing pvp achievements), total kills on each class, total times each class has killed you, gold spent, gold earned in total, how many times you’ve run each dungeon, how many events you have done, total revives, on and on.

Just a big statistics tab maybe linked to the hero panel with piles of essentially useless, but fun, information.

Good video overall. I really like your editing, good music choice, basically quality stuff as usual from you.

In terms of the content, I like the sw/sh + gs combo and have learned a lot about it from your previous videos. Glad you decided to stick with it so I could see some new fights from you with them.

I dunno if I would go so far as to call greatsword not viable, it’s all relative. In sPVP you’re going to get more use out of a longbow due to the forced fights in a smaller area, but in WvW you’re going to get more out of a greatsword since the fights are much more mobile and there’s really nothing to force you to fight in a small area when roaming unless you end up fighting in one, but then there’s no incentive to stay like node fighting in sPVP.

That being said, its a lot easier to use a greatsword terribly, but if you know what you’re doing its still a big sword that slices and dices and gets the job done.

“OP unkillables” aren’t the problem here.

I think theres a couple of bushes on Forest of Nifhel that you can stand in as an asura and then people can’t see your killshot animation

Hello, I’m a little confused as to what might be causing this. I’ve used skins before, and its usually pretty straight forward.. double click.. pick weapon. With the new wardrobe system any skins I’ve had in my inventory show up in the wardrobe and let you reskin for ‘free’. I’ve done this multiple times with the HoM skins without difficulty.

I just purchased the sovereign punisher (mace) skin, but I can’t get it to work. Double click and I just get a “you cannot use this item” message. Go to wardrobe, it doesn’t show up as a usable skin.

Its account bound, its mine, I have a mace.. I dunno whats up here.

I don’t know if I would call it the ‘counter’, but you need to be realistic about whether or not you can unbunker the bunker in a reasonable amount of time. Their meant to troll you and CC you around so you can’t cap, so if you go in 1v1 and stalemate with him he’s winning. It’s not necessarily a bad thing to just let him have the point so you can outnumber his teammates somewhere else until you and another teammate have a chance to come 2v1 him. I find they usually dont have much in the way of stunbreaks, and I’m usually pretty succesful as a Warrior in locking them down at least enough that me and my partner can simultaneously rip his face off.

If the one you were facing was successfully 3v1’ing you guys, he could have just been that good and you guys were getting outplayed.

I always like watching your videos as that is my favourite warrior build. Some good fights in there.

Well, until there is a game mode that doesn’t demand winning a fight over a piece of ground the size of both combustive shot and arcing arrow’s AoE, then it’s really not gonna happen. Bow is perfect for node fights, so it’s really not going to go anywhere.

Good compilation, it’s nice to wins and losses.

And I love the A/S + GS stuff, that’s my favorite build. That feel when you land the big eviscerates and just shred people.

Don’t need a complicated fix, just make everyone’s size consistent in sPVP / WvW.

I dunno, I got to R13 or 14 via hotjoin before I made some friends who really got me into PvP and I started doing solo and team q. Since then I’ve probably logged something like 100 tourney games, and am R23. I have learned way, way, way more in solo and team q then I ever did in hotjoin. Hotjoin is just a terrible environment to learn how to properly play sPVP, its just a bunch of randoms randoming.

Sure I’m not the best, and I know I still have tonnes to learn, but as someone who at least pays attention and wants to learn I feel that solo and team q have contributed way more to me as a player than hotjoin.

Uhm.. cause its way more fun to land 10K eviscerates and insta gib squishy targets.

That many eh? Well, I found some old ones so those will do.

A good D/D ele. I know its me getting outplayed, but when they’re on and doing good they feel invincible. Can’t land a good burst, get them almost down and its water attunement instant heal time, on and on.

WvW Midseason report:

Gold League: Blowouts in both matches.
Silver: Blowouts in all three matches.
Bronze: Eredon Terrace and Anvil Rock competing for second, blowouts in the other two matches.

7/8 blowouts, 1 decent fight for second.

Haha IoJ tied for 8th. I know it’s an example, but its a funny example. 9th place rockstars ’fo ’sho.

You make some good points about fighting for the fights and such, practice, community, etc. The first few matches I was on the same page, but I’ve had enough of it. Especially with SBI it seems like as soon as you have what could be a decent even fight over any little hill a few minutes later the magic SBI ball of 20+ randoms that seems to be everywhere at once will show up and just roll over you.

The only thing I can thank Leagues for is freeing up the next 4 weeks to play GTA 5.

BP and DB: you guys will get more points from fighting each other instead of squeezing that last 45 ppt that IoJ has in their corner. Or is it too hard for both of your 40 man zergs I see running around right now to fight each other so you’ll just avoid that confrontation and roll the meager 15 IoJ we area able to produce right now.

These achievements are the stupidest thing to implement. It made the karma train even dumber than ever.

Soo many good fights in CD’s and BP’s ruins. Can’t really remember the guild tags of the guys I was fighting, but it was a kitten good time. Some guardian got me good with dat hammer banish off the top of south point in the ruins. The place I landed looked so awkward and painful .. best fall death ever.

I would happily stay in matchups with CD and BP if all of them were this close. WAY better than getting some throwaway with a vastly more populated server.

I would actually like this, sometimes I wish GW2 was like Diablo 3 for example where you can look at your friends characters, see their gear, and whatever look they have. There are already groups with gear kittens that demand you ping everything or you’re out. Adding something like this wouldn’t change the fact that the majority of groups don’t care.
