Thank you mini, I’ll add that as a subnote.

Who here thinks the medium armor appearances are mediocre to poor?

Me.

/10chars.

I was extremely close to quitting my Ranger just because I was fed up with the ridiculous pirate outfit from level 15-78. It was cool at first but it got old really fast.

Like I said at the very beginning of my post:

This is for newer players that are leveling up their first character and looking to have a good chunk of cash for when they reach 80.

@Mystic Forge Guy—Thanks for that great, helpful insight on the subject. Next time you should post reasons instead of just “You’re wrong.” and I will GLADLY take any advice, tips you offer…like I said.

@KnuckleDust—There are definitely true tips on how to make money. I listed them. They’re up there. They make you money. Some of these things may be obvious to experienced MMOers out there, but like I said…AGAIN…this is for newer players who are a little lost with what to do. But again, thank you for your wonderful insight.

I’ve noticed a lot of complaints about people lacking money and not really knowing how to make it while leveling. This guide is mainly for people that are leveling up and fresh to the game, not so much for 80’s, but some things do apply

I’m being very crude here, but I mean no disrespect to you or anyone else having the same issue. These are the things I’ve learned. Here are some of my tips to getting and keeping money.

#1. Suck less, die less.
The less you die the less you have to repair. (I agree that the repair cost is extremely high at max level it seems.) Spend more time learning your character, how to avoid deaths, and how to kill as many things at once as you can.

#2. Know the areas.
If you’re going to begin farming, do some research on where the best places to farm are. Feel around the zone for a while, learn the types of mobs you’ll be fighting, and move your skills around to best suit those. Again, refer to rule #1.

#3. Use the Mystic Forge Sparingly
The Mystic Forge is for fun and gambling, not straight for making profit. Sell/salvage your blues. Sell/Salvage your greens, OR you can choose to put 4 of those puppies in the forge and hope for a Rare. Rares sell for 20+ silver usually, and you can always salvage them for Ectos (Used in crafting) which sell for 20 silver.

#4. SELL ALL YOUR CRAFTING MATS.
Okay, this one can go differently for different people. If crafting is your game and you love doing it, awesome! Make some cool items for you and your friends, sell the stuff you make, and have a good time doing it. Crafting is not a good way to earn money though, remember that. If you aren’t into the whole crafting thing…then refer to rule #5

#5. SELL YOUR CRAFTING MATERIALS. Seriously.
If you spend a decent amount of your leveling experience gathering materials, hitting nodes, and looting bags, you should have 5 gold EASILY of materials in your bags when you hit 80.

#6. BE CAREFUL when you sell things on the TP.
Check how much the stack sells for vendor price, and see how much its selling for on the TP. THEN CHECK THE LISTING FEE. Almost always you’ll find the lower items are selling for the exact same thing as vendor price, 5% listing fee which means you LOSE money selling it on the TP if you sell it for vendor price. There is also a 10% fee when you sell the item. Just always be careful when you’re selling stuff.

#7. Don’t do dungeons with idiots. If his name is Xxsephirothx or LegolasButtface he’s going to suck. People that suck are people that die a lot. When people die in dungeons, YOU WILL PROBABLY DIE TOO. Find a group of friends that are competent that can perform well in dungeons. Dungeons are AMAZING cash if you can get through them with a maximum of 2-3 deaths.

Hope this helps..If you have anything you’ve discovered and would like to add or feel needs to be added, PM me or let me know here.

EDIT: Updated to include some numbers and new shiny things.

Looking for Guild --Isle of Janthir

Hey all, I’m looking for a guild focused on WvW, Dungeons, and just having a good time.

My resume includes 6 years of WoW Raiding, hardcore and casual.
Many years of FPS, console, and RPG playtime.
2 Years of officer work in a hardcore raiding guild in WoW WoTLK (Server Firsts included)

If you’re interested, respond and let me know. I’ll also consider guilds not on IoJ.

Looking for a larger guild so groups are pretty easy to form and complete with efficiency.

Has there seriously been no response by a red on this?

This is an ‘unacceptable’ oversight…and unless they addressed it in some other thread, I’m pretty disappointed.

This also occurs with Tegwen and Carys. They “meet” you for the first time and tell you about a magical Mirror that they found…when….I WAS THERE. I SAVED YOU, REMEMBER? I WAS IN ORR?

Idiotic, really.

So, who's ready for Kodan?

My #1 vote for the first thing to put in any type of expansion is the Kodan as the next playable race.

Their animations are already in game, as well as voices. The city in Frostforge can be used as a capital city, and they’re already friendly with all races working towards the defeat of the elder dragons.

It’s set up perfectly, so ArenaNet. Make it happen!

Incredibly hard, incredibly unrewarding

Soo…you play everything for a reward? I like the dungeons because they are challenging. It’s a breath of fresh air. I actually felt accomplished when I finished most of them as opposed to being in and out in 15 minutes. I do agree that the reward for story mode needs to be improved, though. That first run is a make or break for people like yourself, and it’s a shame that being challenged caused your friends to quit a great game like this. Just speaks to culture nowadays—if something is tough, avoid it.
