Free Transfers messing up WvW

You contradicted yourself a little there…

You say WvW is about organized guilds, right? So what happens when those Organized guilds transfer off the server? Sure, the void might be filled by another guild, or even puggers, but it wont be the same as a guild who regularly plays one battleground.

Transfers DO affect WvW.

Running a 20/20/10/0/20 Build, you will have access to all you will ever need in WvW, works well for GS/Rifle and swapping traits for the role you are currently trying to fufill, be it JP’s, Siegeing or Defending.

If movement is your biggest issue, I suggest working on your keybindings.

First, rebind ‘A’ & ‘D’ keys to STRAFE otherwise you wont be able to kite or circle strafe your opponent effectively. (Circle Strafing is exactly what it sounds like, strafing around them in a circular fashion to disorient and keep your opponent on the defensive.)

If you are using a gaming mouse, they will generally have a few buttons on the side, I use a Razer Naga, so all of my weapon skills are bound to it.

For Utility skills; I have them all bound close to my movement keys, I use Q, E , R, F as it resembles most MOBA keybinds such as LoL or DotA.

Untick double-tap to dodge in options and bind your dodge key to something handy which you can press at the same time as your A, W or D Key. I use X, but Shift or Ctrl work just as well. (The Dodge key rolls backwards by default)

PS: I know using new Keybinds can be a little awkward to use at first, but stick with it even if your first reaction is “Ugh this feels aweful!” but it will make a lot faster & better after you get used to the new keybinds.

The funny thing is, I find I survive longer with my Glass Cannon builds than I do by Bruiser/Bunker builds, and its all because GS/Sword/Shield has more mobility/gap closers than any other build.

I also feel like whatever spec I use, its almost mandatory to choose Bull’s Charge / Endure Pain, without those two I either get blown up or kited.

Doesn’t help that the most Melee centric class has the most self-root effects on weapons either…

Works for a variety of specs.

22k hp in a damage based build? A guardian will have about 10k less in a damage based build. And of course less armor too.
I barely got around 20k with full vitality/toughness setup.

In SPvP my Warrior has 24k Hp using the same build with roughly the same stats (higher crit/toughness etc)

But Guardians can reach 20k easy in a similar damage spec also, with a lot more survivability I might add…

Rampage is very good in WvW if youre the type who likes wading into the thick of battle, doing bit of harrasment and still live to see another day.

The amount of CC you get in Rampage form is also very good for locking down a single target. Not to mention it almost doubles your health pool. <3 Having 52k Health.

Warriors need to be nerfed

in Warrior

Kreedz.8127

I don’t think we need to be nerfed, but I have both dealt and been on the receiving end of a Crithammer warrior.

I consistently hit for 2.5k – 4k with Crithammer build.

22k HP
2.7k Armor
36% Crit
49% Crit Dmg (+10% dmg to knocked down/stunned foes)
3089 AP

I also use a Sword/Shield for 2nd weapon set for Mobility/Reflecting.

But the downside is I find myself getting kited a lot at times.

Hammer Time - Which one does it better?

in PvP

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

I play a Warrior, And I really enjoy playing it, especially since using the Hammer…

Unfortunately I also have a Guardian, and I find myself at a bit of a Crossroads on choosing between the two.

My Dilemma is this; I use Hammer/Sword/Shield for my Warrior with a 20/0/20/10/20 Build, 40% crit, 24k hp, and I also have a similar build with my Guardian using 15/0/30/20/5, 40% crit and 21k hp.

And I am having trouble deciding between the two, the Warrior feels fairly tanky while being able to dish out 2k – 4k crits regularly and providing a lot of CC, but the Guardian feels even more tanky with slightly less damage and less CC.

The Warrior is already 80, as that is the class I initially rolled with, and the guardian is lvl 30.

My question is, who do you think fits the role of the ‘Juggernaut’ more, and why?

I have been both on the giving and receiving end of this.

I have spent upwards of 3 hours some nights both getting to the chest and denying the chest from others.

You may see it as griefing, but unless they remove the blueprints from the chest (which I sincerely hope they do not) then this is a valid tactical method of both wasting your opponents time and limiting the amount of potential siege they have on the field.

I do all 4 WvW JP’s every day if I am able, although queue times sometimes make it difficult to get them all done on work nights; It is where I derive most of my enjoyment because if my guild isnt able to field a sizable force it allows me to take part in small scale PvP battles.

Rifle Engineer Vs Warrior

ok makes sense, how about when traits are applied to the weapons?

Warrior can Trait for Crack Shot, which decreases the Cooldown on your Rifle Skills and also makes your shots pierce so they will go through targets.

You can also trait into 50% longer bleeds, as the Rifles ‘auto-attack’ has a stacking bleed on it.

Commander - A PvE Title

in WvW

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

I’ve seen and experienced both good and bad Commanders.

On the good side, I have had Commanders who are both active in chat and are always looking at the map, asking for status reports on locations, and not panicing when things dont go to plan but instead redirecting people to appropriate objectives.

And then I have had Commanders who are abyssmal and make me wonder why they even got the title to be begin with. Commanders who have no communication skills whatsoever, berate you if you make a CTA for a 5 man strike team. And in most cases these are just ‘lucky’ people who have had their tag paid for them by their guild members through no qualification other than being an Officer of said guild.

I can’t speak for any other servers, but on Henge of Denravi there are 2 good Commanders in my Prime-time (Australia) and 4 who are complete garbage and never get anything done.

Kreedz.8127

I run GS/Rifle in WvW, using a 20/20/10/0/20 Build which allows me to swap my traits depending on the situation.

Strength Traits:

Death From Above - For clearing out/disrupting Rammers/Gate Monkeys.

Restorative Strength - For Skirmish battles where healing to get out of an immobilize can save your life.

Slashing Power - For Skimish/Breach battles.

Arms Traits:

Rending Strikes - Vulnerability can be very useful when you have multiple people hitting your target(s).

Forceful Greatsword - Reduced cooldowns means more damage and more whirls to escape with (Whirling Attack evades incoming attacks)

Crack Shot - Great for Wall Defense or Skirmishes.

Defense Traits:

Turtles Defense - 200 Toughness makes quite a difference when you have a lot of people focusing you and your heal (Restorative Strength) is down.

Discipline Traits:

Warrior’s Sprint - Movement Speed is always nice when traversing the map or getting those jumping puzzles done just that little bit quicker.

Mobile Strikes - A must have for any greatsword user, helps you stick on targets or get out of a sticky situations.

Heightened Focus - Another good Wall Defense trait as you will rarely be using your burst except for sniping low/downed players.

Sweet Revenge - Has its uses, but I very rarely use it.

The key to this build and many others which are used in WvW is to regularly switch your traits to fit your needs. And it certainly helps to memorize the Roman Numerals of traits so you can switch fast and efficiently if you get out of combat for long enough to change them.

If you kill something before vengeance wears out you get to rally. If you don’t, you die.

Correction; If you are Vengeanced and you manage to KILL something, there is a VERY SMALL (5-10%?) chance that you will Rally.

However if you are traited 20 points into Discipline you and get Sweet Revenge it is a 100% chance to rally if you manage to KILL something.

What seperates a good Warrior from an average Warrior is not how much you know about YOUR class, but how much you know about OTHER classes.

The spec is set up for SPvP but also works great in WvW.

Replace the runes with whatever you feel fits your playstyle better. Majority Pow/Pre/CritDmg Gear supplemented with Pow/Tuf/Vit pieces/accessories.

I have left the second weapon slot free for personal preferrence, I suggest Rifle for more Control/Ranged Damage, Greatsword for Mobility, and Axe/Axe for greater burst.

3. Use Either Shield Stance or Defy Pain in your build. Useful against all Builds.

I have left the second weapon choice up to personal preferrence, but I suggest using Rifle for more Control and Greatsword for more Mobility.

The beauty in this build is that it gets stronger the longer the battle goes on, especially if you block a rapid fire attack such as Flurry, Pistol Whip, Hundred Blades, Blurred Frenzy, etc. basically countering most cookie cutter builds out there at the moment and gaining 1 stack of might per blocked attack + reflecting all ranged attacks back at the target.

It’s a legit tactic, and quite a good one at that because you are both limiting the amount of siege blueprints the enemy has and getting quite a nice influx of badges from the PK’ing.

If the JP is being camped… get a force together and take it back.

Actually, I just thought of a better solution… rather than having the screen go black, which would be rather annoying for most people; Just have the camera slowly pan to a vertical top-down position on your character and have it locked there. This way people can still see their character but not anything around them.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

While I agree that being able to zoom out farther would be nice, It becomes an issue in WvW when you are assaulting a keep.

Let me explain; when you use an arrow cart, there are only a couple of safe places where you can deploy them without getting hit by AOE’s on the wall yet still have vision on the enemy.

The camera zoom & pan distance is limited on purpose to give the attackers the ability to destroy the siege equipment (albeit with some difficulty) on the walls, while also utilizing ‘deadzones’ to escape the massive incoming damage.

If you were able to zoom out further or pan your camera to an almost vertical degree, arrowcarts & cannons would be able to hit most ‘safe’ locations, making it nigh impossible for the attackers to assault a heavily defended wall.

To elaborate my points a little further for people:

Karma – If you gain X amount of Karma within Z amount of time then any Karma gain from that point onward is diminished and capped at something ridiculously low. Meaning if you steamroll through events, whether it be large groups of short events you will hit cap easily within 20-30 minutes, and the diminished effect will not go away unless you dont do any for 1 hour, and if you do one before the diminished timer finishes it resets it…

Dungeon – They are meant to be rewarding, but the silver and XP gained from completing them has been HALVED, what was 26s for finishing an explorable path is now 13s, and any subsequent runs of the same path further reduced by almost 80% down to 3s… (not to mention the ‘rebalancing’ of certain dungeons have made them extremely difficult and luck based for certain events, cushioned only slightly by skill.)

Loot – Killing mobs in one area for too long yields less and less loot until you finally get NOTHING. at which point you need to go to another area, making it very impractical to farm for certain crafting materials.

WvW – Well, having to loot badges is just a pain, lets be honest here… I want to focus on the battle, not whether a loot bag dropped.

You have capped Karma Events.

You have capped Dungeon Runs.

You have capped loot from killing mobs.

You force us to spam ‘F’ in WvW for badges.

What are we suppose to do? Every farming option you have given us you have subsequently nerfed into obscurity.

What is the point of your Karma, Magic Find, and EXP Boosters if we can’t even utilize the full hour of the effect?

This may just seem like another complaint thread to you, but I am seriously worried with where this game is heading…

You want us to play the game, but you limit the amount of time we can experience it?

As it stands now, you need an extremely durable, yet, extremely high DPS group to ‘fight’ the Door Buster event… which isnt practical at all.

I suggest INCREASING the Arming Timer for Magg, and DECREASING the amount of damage the Flame Legion mobs do….

How do you expect people to fight 3-5 mobs that each do 4-5k damage at the same time and expect to kill them at the spawn rate you have set?
