I can understand if you want this content done in groups, but even coordinated groups are just getting overhelmed doing this overly difficult challenge.

I’m all for introducing challenging content, but there comes a point where you look at the way this event works and you can tell it’s just lazy game design.

Rule #1 of Game Design: If people need to exploit your games mechanics to overcome your challenges, You’re doing it wrong.

I suggest people bring this subject to light, with as many threads as possible.

I feel utterly Ripped Off.

I am actually basing my vote on the OP’s grammar. So right now it is for Kiel.

My Grammar isn’t half as bad as some of the posters you see on here.

So all you’ve done by making such a petty statement is show that you are an ignorant individual who likes to lord their use of the english language over others like some sort of trophy to be held in high esteem.

Please.

Stop basing your support on some meager temporary price reduction on keys/waypoints, which will only last a month.

I know theres a dozen threads like this, but I still feel people are basing their decision on inconsequential matters.

The Fall of Abbadon. – A god who gave Tyria it’s access to magic. The fractal likely to take place in the Crystal Sea. Which gives us our first true Ocean/Seafaring dungeon, not like the underground water one we have now.

Thaumanova Reactor – Asura’s build something, and it blew up, caused a tear in reality or something to that affect. Crucible of Eternity v2?

Unfortunately Kiel has one advantage, She’s the goody two-shoes human captain of the guard, who fights for justice blahblah blah blah…

Everyones a sucker for the “good guy”.

FT is fine just the way it is tyvm.

I play an offensive condi/support build using the FT, and it is by far the best kit we have.

I’d rather not post my build just yet though, as I dont want to see its use wide spread until Ive done some more testing with it, but let me tell you, It rocks in Hotjoin and it rocks in Ranked…

some of the pro’s of FT:

  1. is good ‘filler’ damage. doing around 1k per 3 seconds in a typical condi build, higher in power builds.
  2. hits for a decent amount with high power/might, usually in the 2-4k range.
  3. is Conical Knockback, allowing you to cycle CC on a target with your other kits/weapons, and being invaluable for knocking Thief’s out of Refuge and stopping stomps on your teammates.
  4. gives you some Area denial and providing a combo field to stack might on yourself and your team.
  5. can be used mid stomp to blind downed enemies and protect you from melee bursts.

If you think FT is bad, there’s no nice way of saying it, but, you’re bad.

Sorry.

Post your Hammer Ideas?

Kreedz.8127

So with the announcement that classes will potentially get access to most, if not, all weapons in the future, the ones I am most excited about is the Hammer as I feel it fits the class perfectly.

For Hammer I’d like to see the following:

Hammer #1

Clobber
Damage: 290
Range: 130
Confusion: 10 + (1.5 * Level) + (0.15 * Condition Damage) per stack
Applies 1 stack confusion for 3 seconds.

Hammer #2

Overcharge
Damage: 425
Range: 400
Overcharges your Hammers core, shooting out a bolt of lightning at your target.

Hammer #3

Shockwave
Damage: 333
Radius: 240
Knockback: 300
Combo Finisher: Blast
Slam your Hammer into the ground, creating a shockwave that knocks back enemies a short distance.

Hammer #4

Inertial Dampener
Radius: 240
Duration: 4s
Cripple: 1s
Release a dampening field centered around your hammer, blocking projectiles for a short duration. Enemies caught inside the field are crippled as long as they remain within it.

Hammer #5

Flux Inverter
Damage: 180
Range: 900
Swiftness: 5s
Activate your Hammer’s Flux Inverter, pulling your target towards you and granting you and your allies Swiftness.

Let me know what you guys think, and how this might synergise with certain kits.

And post your own Ideas!

I have noticed that there is now a small picture on the upcoming events page for GW2 which hints at an election between Kiel & Evon.

And by watching the story for the BotFW we know that Kiel & Evon are vying for the chance to strike a trade agreement with the Zephyrites.

I can only assume that we, the players, will be tasked with helping either Kiel or Evon to gain favor with the Zephyrites over the coming weeks/months to help them secure victory in the Pirate Council elections in Lion’s Arch.

I’d like to hear what other people think about this and whether we’ll actually get a say in how these events turn out.

Perhaps helping one over the other might mean getting different bonuses on your particular server. Help Evon and get lower TP listing fees? Help Kiel and get better vendor prices? Could make for some interesting in-game politics…

Downed Skill 2 - worst skill ingame?

in Engineer

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

All downed skills are there to just delay stomps.

Viewing these skills as anything other than that is stupid, because you will rarely get back up from downed without the aid of a friendly.

Also, I’d argue Mesmers have the worst downed ability, since you can stomp most of them by just canceling your stomp animation early to scare em into using their cloak, then starting your stomp before they disappear, your stomp animation will finish just as they decloak.

I’ve been having a bit of fun mixing up the HGH to my own style with the Flamethrower, making use of Juggernaut trait being moved to Master down from Grandmaster.

http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-VRw;2Z;0h0i6cQFx0;9;49J9T-4;007-0;019A;1Lo0;3Rk06Rk062Vd

Pros:
- Tankier than standard HGH
- More reliable Might stacking
- Control fights better with shield + air blast skills
- FT #5 can be used as a mid-stomp counter
- Able to survive focus fire more easily

Cons:
- Slight hit to Area Damage potential
- Can feel slow at times
- FT#2 is a PITA to land properly without practice

All in all, I feel I created a solid build which can withstand a lot more punishment for the cost of a little less AOE damage.

Defektive's "New Meta": New Patch? New Build.

Kreedz.8127

Tried the build myself, seems solid.

I will say however that this isn’t how I imagined me having to play my Warrior to be competitive.

I’d prefer leaping around the battlefield, being able to CC and forcing my opponent’s to react. With this build I still feel like im on the backfoot, though it’s not nearly as bad as other builds.

Until they introduce a game mode other than conquest, it’ll stay a game of AoE & Area Denial, and the hopes of seeing it become an eSport will stagnate unless they do something to change up the Meta.

PS: Necro & Engi’s have better Area Denial than we do, so this build; while functional, doesnt change anything for us in the long run.

Kreedz.8127

So you’re saying Cleansing Ire made us tPvP viable? Because aside from that trait, this build was already capable of existing.

Yes and no.

Before this patch, going 20 pts into defense while running longbow didnt make sense, there were choices that were stronger overall (Berserkers Power for example).

No one had an incentive to try it or to use it because the numbers showed that going into a more damage focused build resulted in better results.

In steps the patch
—————-
Longbow base range increased to 1000 (this is pretty solid so far).
Cleansing ire proccing every 8 seconds (yay Longbow F1).
Movement of Shield Mastery to adept trait.

The bottom two points indicated that going into Defense in order to gain 290 toughness (when using a Shield + 200 from the trait line) as well as 3 condi removal every 8 seconds (more if you use sword F1) could be a profitable endeavor.

Once you commit to 20 points in defense you have only one direction you can go, build a little more toughness so that you have more staying power (hey, you’re investing 20pts into it already right?). In comes Dolyak Signet, Valk jewel.

My base toughness with shield sits around 1500.

So while yes the build had the potential to exist before hand, there was no reason to try it, thus it never occurred. New patch however opened up some possibilities.

Meaning the old warrior mindset has forcibly been removed. I think this build shows the problem didn’t just propagate from the slightly lacking class design. It was also a combination of team comp and a groupthink community. So shame on us because, although, yes, I agree the devs have created some new synergies, those things hardly took us from 0 to hero… if anything, from Shyla Labeouf(Transformers kid) to Matt Damon, and I’m a huge Bourne fan.

You know, both those characters were on the Run from something.

Just found it amusing.

I Main Warior, and I think Blind is fine the way it is.

It’s just a ‘reverse’ Aegis, and I’ve trained myself to always look for Aegis before I use any long cooldowns on my target… and Blind is even more noticeable because it actually has a visual indicator which borders your whole screen. C’mon people.

I guarentee you’ll see an improvement in your gaming if you just paid a little extra attention now and then. It’s not hard to look at your boons/conditions every few seconds.

PS: If I had to make a change to Blind though, I would make it so it doesnt affect ground targeted abilities, that is all.

New Condition is a slap to the face...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

A lot of Warriors & Necro’s are toting this patch as their ‘Last Hope’ to see them become viable in competitive play, yet we get slapped in the face with this New Condition: Torment.

Which supposedly does periodic damage, and even more damage if the target is moving around.

Necro will be happy of course, since they will be getting access to it via Death Shroud #5, but to give it to Thieves & Mesmers also is utterly mind blowing.

These two Professions already have a strong pressence in TPvP as Roamers or Bunker Busters, and giving them acess to another condition which supplements their burst potential is ridiculous.

Warrior who are also suffering from sustain issues in PvP have yet another condition to deal with, one that attacks our greatest strengths as a class so far; Mobility.

I am curious on the design behind this decision, as it seems like an unnecessary buff to professions already on the top of the proverbial ‘pile’.

I dont complain much, and I usually have faith in the development team to do what is right for the game, but this new condition just has me screaming “WTF?!”….

Disappointed.

[Feedback] Holo Wings Animation.

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

First of all, I think both the Holo Wings look great, I have a pair each for my 3 lvl 80’s.

My Feedback is on the Animation Loop for both wings, and this somewhat bleeds into my opinion on animations/particles (or lack thereof) on other back items such as this.

My biggest gripe with the Animation of the wings is that they are constantly flapping, yes yes… I know wings are made for flapping. but for some this ruins the appeal of wearing these great looking back items, as it is never-ending loop.

My suggestion would be to add an Idle animation inbetween flapping, perhaps on the same timer as character’s idle animation. For example;

Current Wings: Flap Flap Flap Flap Flap Flap
Preferred Wings: Flap Flap Flap ————————Idle——————- Flap Flap Flap

The Idle animation could be a small loop of the wings semi-collapsed, and perhaps moving slightly to simulate the heaving of a breathing chest.

This would break up the monotony of the constant flapping and would give the wings a more organic feel to them.

As an added suggestion, and this would apply to other back items, like the Decorative Jetpack; Is to have particles effects or animations added for the player’s jump animation, such as a small burst of flame or exhaust for the jetpack, and perhaps a rapid succession of flaps for the wings.

PS: The angle of the flap for the Shattered Wings seems ‘off’ somewhat?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Now, quick disclaimer; I am doing the following with a full magic find gear set, sitting at 163% MF including booster.

I tested this during the Southsun Event also, where I opened roughly 40 – 50 crates, which yielded me with 4 Tickets.

I decided to test my ‘luck’ during Dragon Bash as well, and using the gear above, I netted again 4 tickets + 4 Risen Mini’s from 50 Rich Coffers.

Granted the Rich Coffers have a higher drop rate than your regular Coffers, I cant help but feel that MF does affect your chances of procuring a ticket.

I hope this helps some folks who are having trouble getting tickets.

Warrior Trait: Gritted Determination

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

Well we already know Warriors will be getting access to some more condition removal in the balance patch, so it becomes a choice for the warrior when he should clear those conditions. If he is being focus fired then this trait really begins to shine, otherwise the dots will keep ticking, also condition builds still have a small element of power attacks, either to apply the conditions or as a filler for inbetween applying conditions while the enemy waits for cooldowns.

Warrior Trait: Gritted Determination

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

No, there isn’t. You may be thinking of Dogged March though, which reduces the duration of slowing effects and grants 3 seconds of regeneration, and while that trait is ‘good’ it does nothing to alleviate the fact that all our movement skills are affected by these conditions and make it almost impossible to land them on a player kiting the Warrior… and the regeneration portion of Dogged March is, well…. plain laughable.

Warrior Trait: Gritted Determination

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

With the upcoming Balance Patch, I thought I would put forth my suggestion to help alleviate some of Issues facing Warriors in competitive play, specifically the (in)ability to deal with conditions, and the ability to keep pressure on an enemy utilizing conditions.

Trait Name: Gritted Determination
Trait Line: Discipline
Investment: 20 Points

Description: Reduces damage taken by 2% per condition on the Warrior. Movement abilities ignore slowing effects of cripple, chill, and immobilize.

This would of course replace the current 20 point trait; Mobile Strikes, which currently only breaks immobilization effects.

The Idea of the trait is to allow warriors to stay on their targets without having to worry about wasting their movement abilities because their movement is impaired, while also weathering damage being applied to them inbetween these moves.

Please Note: This isn’t designed to REMOVE slowing effects, but rather to temporarily negate their effects, for instance; Warriors who use the Rush ability on the Greatsword while being crippled would be able to get the full distance/speed out of using the ability, but remain crippled after the animation has completed.

Why do you hate Warriors?

in PvP

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

I like to play my warrior, the playstyle fits me perfectly, yet I seem to be vilified by everyone around me for playing my warrior.

God forbid I get a kill in sPvP, suddenly I get whisper telling me how much of a scrub I am for using a Greatsword, or how I wouldn’t have beaten them if it werent for the OP Hammer CC. Then theres the distinct feeling that I seem to get targeted as soon as the enemy realize Im a Warrior, like im some sort of bag full of free Glory points.

Feeling a little overwhelmed at being perma crippled or focus fired in Hotjoin, I decide to do TPvP instead (solo queue, mind you, since no one wants me on their team unless I’m playing my Bunker/HGH Engi, or my BM Ranger), where I am again met with insults about my profession because I am taking up “valuable tourney spots, which could be filled by a more useful class”, words of my supposed team mates, not mine…

So why is it you hate warriors? Did our brief time in the sun at launch (before people learned you could, y’know… -move- out of 100blades.) foster this hatred.

I’m beginning to hate my favourite profession as well now, because I seem to get so much negativity hurled at me when I am playing it. I started exploring other builds with other professions now because of it.

I had a good understanding of the other classes beforehand, but going through some of the traits of classes like the Mesmer & Ranger, I felt like I was in a candy store, a feeling I had’nt experienced before on my Warrior.

All in all, I’m a pretty average player, but I like to think I do alright on my warrior despite our many disadvantages. But where is the love?

Sometimes I feel like ANet have created a monster, and they dont know where to hide their ‘ugly child’…

AE makes this game skill less and pointless.

in PvP

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

As a Warrior I wish I had access to more AE damage, because the majority of our skills only affect 1 – 4 people, more if we are position correctly, unfortunately its all PBAoE that we have, which puts us in harms way to deliver the damage… which is fine, if warriors had the sustain to do it without coming out of it at 25% health from all the outside sources of damage.

I will disagree about there being minimal CC in GW2, theres actually quite a lot of it, and Warrior’s have the majority of it through utility and hammer/mace/shield skills.

I can effectively lock out a single target through stuns & kb’s with certain builds until they are downed, but it’s a long chain, easy to mess up, and the amount of stun breakers in the game makes it difficult to execute on anyone, especially Tourney Play.

I actually think it’s sickening to see how many stun breakers other classes get compared to Warriors… you know, the class that actually needs to stay on their target to do damage?… On my Mesmer I have so many stun breaks, that between stealth, clones & those stun breakers, I am almost never incapacitated.

I’ll take a wild guess here and say, it is about a build consisting of greatsword + axe/shield.
Traits for maximum greatsword damage.
Most likely zerger amulet.

I havent used Greatsword in months, we all know how much a 1 trick pony that is, and it’s as easily negated as a HS spamming Thief, if not more.

I play Hammer / Rifle for the most part, sometimes Axe/Mace for a change of pace, but the build I am running is still lackluster in staying power.

The problem is we have no way to negate damage while everyone can negate the warriors damage.

Warrior’s Have:

- 1 Blind on Longbow (terrible PvP weapon)
- Retaliation Trait
- 1 Reflection Trait, which also forces us to use shield to utilize it.
- Several Weakness secondary effects on weapons, most requiring melee range to apply and short duration.
- Dodging

Other classes Negate our damage as well as these secondary effect with:
- Reliable Vigor activates.
- Blind
- Aegis
- Protection
- Perma-Swiftness
- Confusion Stun
- Ranged Interrupts

None of which we have access to.

Kreedz.8127

Warriors don’t have the survivability necessary to be competitive in SPvP…

Dogged March is a consolation prize in the contest of PvP viability for this class, and unless there are drastic changes it’s going to continue being a problem.

I understand other classes have problems, and certain classes need to be toned down as well, but with the current Meta, Warriors are almost forced to have 2 utilities constant across all of their build’s; Endure Pain & Bull’s Charge. Without these two abilities we have little in the way of staying in a fight.

Other classes have escape mechanisms which give them breathing room, such as stealth, clones, swiftness or something as simple as access to Protection boons.

As it stands, Warrior’s have Health & Armor in their favor and it’s just not enough considering the amount of abilities which can negate our damage.

I propose that Warrior’s get access to some form of ability to apply protection through traits. I would suggest Regeneration also, but this boon does little to no healing in the grand scheme of things and does nothing against other classes burst builds, which also makes me curious why there is even a cooldown to Dogged March’s regenerative effect at all.

The class needs to be looked at in play, not just on paper.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Warriors are Rooted...

in PvP

Posted by: Kreedz.8127

Kreedz.8127

… both Literally and figuratively.

I find it rather odd that the most ‘mobile’ profession in combat is also the most immobile when it comes to PvP.

And I think this is where the inherent problem with the Warrior lies when it comes to making them a viable Tournament choice.

Let’s list all of the abilities which ‘Root’ or otherwise immobilise the Warrior through animations & cast times;

Killshot (Rifle Burst)
Flurry (Sword Burst)
Hundred Blades (GS#2)
Hammer Shock (Hm#3)
Staggering Blow (Hm#4)
Stomp
Kick

That’s 7 Abilities which Self-Root/Animation Lock Warrior’s… I just think that’s way too excessive for a Melee Centric Profession.

Granted some of these abilities are some of our best for Burst or CC, and people may think that the Power reflects the Risk in using them, but the problem is that if one of these abilities miss, the Warrior not only has to wait for the cooldown (which is usually upwards of 30 seconds long) they are extremely punished for it by having lost ground which they now need to close the gap on, which results in more long cooldowns being used until finally the warrior is left with little to no options.

This problem is of course further exacerbated by the fact that there is Dodging, Retaliation, Stability, Stealth, Teleporting & Stun breakers in this game. The Warrior is already fighting a losing battle with the amount of abilities which help avoid and/or negate damage & CC entirely, and the fight hasnt even begun yet… the last thing they need is someone glueing their boots to the ground…

I think for Warriors to be even considrered little more than a buzzing nuisance in Tournaments, they need to have some of abilities reworked so as not to Root the Warrior, even if that means lowering the damage or duration of some of them to bring them into balance. I’d rather hit for less, than not hitting anything at all & whistle for a taxi to drive me to my nearest target…

EDIT: Clarified the list slightly.

Aegis passive/active on Virtue & a lot of CC count for most of it, while Warriors are more the type to weather-the-storm with high armor, hp and long cooldowns.

How to beat a bunker bomb engineer?

What part of your build is Defensive exactly?

Neither of your weapon choices offer any form of CC other than Cripple, which isnt going to put much pressure on a Bunker build anyway.

The most defensive builds for a warrior, imo, are ones which actually put -more- pressure on the enemy and make them panic and make mistakes.

For instance I use a GS/Hammer build:

(may need to copy/paste link)

Pressure with GS, & when they get low or you need to play more defensively switch to hammer to stop their heals/damage.

First, warriors aren’t bad. They’re the best support DPS in the game. Their TTK is faster than any other class, sitting at 2.5 seconds because of their pocket burst abilities.

But I don’t understand. You don’t want to “reroll” in a game where you can pick up any profession at any time and play it?

This isn’t WoW. This isn’t SWTOR. This isn’t RIFT. Barrier to entry is non-existent in GW2.

Rerolling doesn’t apply. You don’t spend anytime leveling and gearing up. You just swap characters and play.

You should be able to multi-class.

My point is that I shouldn’t have to reroll another class to be a viable team mate in comps. There’s definitely something wrong when Hot-Join and TPvP is full of Thieves and Mesmers.

I run Greatsword/Hammer, 10/10/30/0/20, which works fine for pub stomping and lets me ‘manage’ 1v2 for quite a while. But I can’t take that into TPvP because a Dueling Spec like that wouldnt last very long against a BS Thief and doesnt stand much of a chance against a Bunker Guardian who can mitigate my CC/Burst.

I will agree that Warriors make good Supportive DPS, but with the current Meta it serves no role in a team. Mesmers make better Roamers, Thieves focus fire faster, Guardians/Engi Bunker better.

The games has devolved into 3 (4 if you count the rare Conditionmancer) classes.

Up until a week ago, I was enjoying the game in its entirety, doing some WvW here, little SPvP there, leveling some alts, etc…

But at some point, I have become sour, and angry…

And I am mostly angry at myself, because had I stuck with my original choice of Guardian, I might be in a comfortable and happy little place right now.

But no, I thought I might ‘stick with what I know’, because I have always played the Traditional Warrior class in every MMO that has come out in Recent years, I ignored my better judgement knowing that the Warrior class has always come with problems, not just in GW2.

In WoW we always got kited and stunlocked.

In SWTOR the Trooper was a fairly sub-par PvP option.

In WAR the Black Orc didnt quite live up to their tanky-ness.

And so the cycle continues it seems, yet I can’t stop myself from loving my Warrior.

It’s also become quite apparent that Warriors have no place in PvP purely because of the fact that they lack any sort of long term survivability outside of Endure Pain & Shield Stance, and that most of our Burst options require some sort of big animation which can be spotted and dodged or have a travel-time associated with it that is mitigated by slows & snares, not to mention that all our gap-closers are buggy as hell and will either fall short, overshoot, or worse yet; completely bug out and ‘stutter’ me back to my original position.

Some of those bugs I can deal with, and I am sure they are being addressed by the dev team in one form or another.

But this all culminates back to this sour feeling I have right now of being useless, unwanted, and outclassed by other professions in every aspect of the game.

So when I see Hot-Join flooded with Thieves, Mesmers and the odd Guardian or two, it only further exacerbates this depressing feeling I have right now.

The problem with the current Meta, for both SPvP and TPvP, is that; Unless some serious changes are made to address glaring imbalances that some classes are showcasing, then its going to get harder and harder for the Meta to evolve when the precedent has been set so early in the games life.

I don’t want to quit GW2, and I don’t want to reroll.

Just this once, I want my Warrior to feel useful and not be a burden to my team because they have this resenting feeling that they could do better with another class…

Lets just give Guardians Perma-Stability.

The idea of Aegis, which is to block the next incoming attack, is fine. What is not fine is that Aegis blocks everything, so even a Engi’s Crate stun or a Warrior’s Hammer stun/kb/kd are blocked because they have damage associated with it, basically making Aegis a free 1-use stability card which they can either rotate with other Aegis granting abilities or using their virtue on demand.

Lets just give Guardians Perma-Stability.

I mean, between Aegis & Stability they have it anyway, right?

Whats the point in even fighting a Guardian anymore if you can’t break through their Aegis/Stability rotation?

Why does Aegis even stop CC in the first place, did no one think that this was going to be abused?

I think it’s utterly rediculous that Guardians can mitigate so much damage/cc even while in an Offensive build.

Other classes (save for Thief) have to cut their survivability for damage, but not Guardians…

Our Tactics trait-line needs a lot of work before I’ll ever consider dumping more than 10 spare points into it. Lucky for us we have a base HP of 18k so we can supplement that lost vitality through gear & trinkets.

As it is right now though, you are a much greater asset to your team by playing the role of Sniper while in WvW using a Rifle build to pick off Injured enemies. Other classes have much stronger AoE’s than us.

When did you switch out of Signet Warrior Build?

I’d like to know when you decided to switch INTO signet warrior spec…

I always found there to be little synergy between signets, since most only raise individual stats and the activates are mediocre at best.
