Question. Looking back at the historical matches, BP had only lost to AR once prior to the EB/BP/AR matchup in tier 5. And while a couple of those victories were close, BP also blew the doors off of them a couple times as well. But since entering T5 with us, AR seems much more organized and gritty than BP. What changed for you guys?
New pop influx? Thrill of rising a tier? New enemy? Learned new tactics from new enemies since separating from BP?
Consider that your server openly admits to focusing us to boot us out of the tier … and AR just rides your coat-tails, being a nice little lapdog?
LOL yah! too funny
honestluy, i think that’s one of the funniest things ive ever seen poste don the forums. thanks!
The only thing funny is how quickly we wipe your guild. Don’t hate that Sekz members win at everything we do. #JBSWAG2013YOLOCHARLIESHEENWINNING. Haters gonna hate.
Sekz: Renaissance Winners. Win at everything.
@Kalkz: they do realize it. Except they stepped foot onto EBBL and Sekz descended them into the dumpster along with BP [WAR]. Two [WAR]s, one dumpster. Didn’t take long for both [WAR]s to stop converting themselves into badges in my bag. Quitters. What jerks.
Enjoy it while you can, your time will come
Okay, seriously. The moderators what some constructive conversations in these threads. But we can’t play nice soo.. lets just not have a thread this week, or any in the foreseeable future. Everyone gets it. We all hate each other. Lets take that hate to the field, not behind walls of text.
After logging in and reading what’s become of this thread already tonight, I couldn’t agree with you more. Sadly it really seems to be a handful of really annoying people who ruin it for everyone else and the more reasonable people who just want to have fun are sick of these weekly threads being dominated by negativity.
Its one thing to have a little trakittenalking to hype up competition when its done in good fun, and its another thing to be a sore-loser or an arrogant winner. I guess this is why the threads keep getting locked , which looks likely to continue until some of the repeat offenders are muted.
I found a carebear! These creatures are indigenous to being bad, but nice because of it, they are what you call khao, which is soft white rice in lukewarm water. It has no taste. Befitted to small babies and very old people. It is nourishment that everyone can digest. The world needs khao, just as the world needs people like carebears.
Actually, I feel the same way as Stone does, and when I dueled you on your mesmer (3 weeks ago?) it was 3-1-1 in favor of yours’ truly (and the draw only because I was experimenting with S/D). Being from BP, this thread leads me to believe I am inherently bad … so what does that make you? ;P
Is it just me, or has this thread been shrinking? I could’ve sworn it used to be well into two pages…
i was there glorious night when CHAR fite for mengsk against ling swarm. it was glorious nite ended by final climactic fite where a hero from CHAR fite evil kerrigan and send her 2 bed after intense 1v1(intense is CHAR way of saying easy). CHAR ended day with another glorious victory in our long list of winning because we never lose. maybe someday ebay learn 2 love CHAR like our friend BP has? look at picture and plz learn from them as BP is ur betters ebay.
Many thanks to CHAR for being so sporting, we had a great time with you guys too
It was quite the epic dance-off, what with EBay providing some absolutely epic lighting and pyrotechnics with their mortars!
I find it funny how you pick on the WFD guild as if this proves something. They are a self-admitted casual guild – [snip]
Hello, I stopped reading right there. The self-admitted casual guild in question had people trash talking on the forum in our first week matchup along with a ridiculous claim that they beat [ECHO] twice in equal numbers fights.
I don’t go around shaming guilds like [WFD] unless they come on the forums making claims that they can’t back up. If they can back up those claims, then more power to them and I’ll give them full credit and respect on the forums. If they can’t back up those claims then they should instruct their members to not trash talk on the forums or someone like me will put them in a video.
Can you point me to this conversation in question? I do recall their being a controversy about this, but do not remember their being any out-of-turn trakittenalking by members of WFD. I have known tas and his guild for quite some time, and that is just not their style. Could I see them saying something like this in response to someone making claims of rampant and total dominance on the field … sure.
Disclaimer: This is not aimed at EBay as a server. I know those few this is directed at do not represent you as a whole.
Who’s leading that [WFD] guild running around? You’re as bad as the rest of BP’s commanders…leaving your servermates behind while you run away/desperately spam the waypoint. LOL
WFD bad, BP commanders bad ?
I find it funny how you pick on the WFD guild as if this proves something. They are a self-admitted casual guild consisting of people who run together because they enjoy each other’s company. They make no special effort to spec their builds for group play, and are just out there to have a good time and do what they can to help the server. In fact, they are actually fairly representative of Borlis as a whole, which lacks any finely tuned WvW fighting machine that can stand even-numbered against the Sekz’s of the world and win on any consistent basis.
But the hypocrisy of accusing our server of being a bunch of bads that run and hide at the slightest signs of a fight, while simultaneously berating and ridiculing those with the gumption to stand up to you is simply too infuriating for me to keep my silence (yes, consider my jimmies rustled!). If Borlis really were so awful, you guys should have rofl-stomped us the first week and been well on your way back into T4.
But wait … that didn’t happen. In fact, you’ve been consistently losing rating each week, causing that goal of getting back to the “real servers” that give you “real fights” to inch farther and farther away into the distance. Perhaps the insecurity stemming from this subconscious realization is what is causing some people to take up arms on the forums like they have something to prove?
I don’t know. What I do know is that, indirectly, you may eventually get your wish for more worthy opponents. Alienation breeds contempt, and contempt breeds monsters.
I understand the issue they were having earlier with people botting Dolyak escort … so why not make it a daily-limited achievement like dragon chests? 5 escorts a day get you some form of reward, but beyond that is pro bono, or something like that? At least this would encourage some form of yak escorting, while preventing people from farming it.
As far as building siege … I don’t think this same approach would work because then you might get people building rams or arrow carts unnecessarily, wasting supply to convert their otherwise (largely) useless badges into a more useful form of currency. Maybe instead they could implement a loot share system? Something like “if you put x supply into a piece of siege that costs y supply to complete, you have an x/y chance of getting a standard loot drop when that siege kills something (if you yourself are not operating it)”. I’m assuming defensive siege is the primary problem you have for getting people to build? If so, this system addresses that specifically, because then players are sort of “making an investment” into the future of that siege in the hopes that it can passively gain them loot.
I could be completely off-base, though, and maybe that would be a lot more work to implement than it’d be worth.
-You said something about ppt and numbers. Yet Errbay (the server) is losing Glicko Rating points. You see, you were expected to do better than a 30k lead ( on Thursday) against two T6 servers.
I suggest you refrain about patting your self on the back for having a 30k lead on two servers who have never been past their current ranking.
You Errbay ( the server, not the trolls) have been in T4. You are expected to win, in fact you are expected to win by a lot more than 30k.
-K
….. You’re in T5 and have been for 3 weeks….
Drop the crutches, they’re just an excuse.
Kodiack, I thoroughly enjoy your forum genius. At this point, you have people playing jokes on themselves … completely next level. Keep it coming, this sort of thing makes the downtime in lab a thing to look forward to
Be careful Anvil Rock … one of our dear members of Borlis Pass was doing some traveling, and stumbled upon a secret entrance to your borderlands … IN REAL LIFE.
Remember that reputation we had for PvD’ing in the wee hours of the night in T6? Keep that in mind when you hear a knock on your door, we’re taking our game NEXT LEVEL.
Honest confession: I thoroughly enjoyed writing this post.
I predict this will be one of the week’s most active match threads. Also, Anvil Rock:
You forgot to mention that 8 people knocked down the water gate with two rams, ran away for 15 minutes to flip supply camps, and it was still never repaired.
I feel BP would be doing a whole lot better if they had people willing to scout or keep an eye on uncontested towers while everyone else is focused somewhere else. I don’t see you guys ever walking dolyaks either.
Our pugs don’t do that sort of thing either… so we always have to leave those duties to our guilds (even then it’s 90% of the time Kaaos or Goldiy – two of our most adamant homeland commanders). It’s not a fun task, but it’s really necessary if you guys want to avoid keeps suddenly turning green while your back is turned. I don’t even want to join in on the numbers game debate going on right now, but there’s always room for guilds to improve – on both of our servers. You guys have more than enough players to defend properly in your home borderland if nothing else. Even when outmanned in others, that’s one thing you shouldn’t be losing ground on. Don’t take this as an insult but rather constructive criticism from an outside party.
Step up your defense BP, and you shouldn’t have a problem farming EBay badges.
Thank you very much for the constructive and civil post. I can’t help but agree. To be honest, the points you mention have been active topics of discussion on our internal forums for quite some time. The fundamental thing holding us back, though, is our lack of sufficient numbers of disciplined individuals to carry them out. And that gets at Borlis’ inherent issue, as mentioned by Monty; though we may not necessarily seem to lack for numbers, we DO lack for numbers in terms of coordinated players that think beyond themselves to the larger objective at hand.
As stated before, I can’t fault them for it. Since this is a game, people will play as best “rustles their jimmies” (can’t say I ever heard that phrase used so often as I have in these threads … is it a T5 thing? lol), and that often does not involve many of the tasks critical to quality WvW’ing. There are only so many of us “willing” participants to go around, and to cover yak escort and better fortification monitoring would draw us away from other tasks that pugs tend to shy away from and we currently do when we can … such as defending home BL, or mounting an offensive in EBay BL.
Classic “robbing Peter to pay Paul” scenario :’(
I can so see us now, AR and BP skipping along and singing all one of Carly Rae Jepsem’s greatest hits as we bash EBay together. Then, as all the green disappears from every map, we all laugh and smile and then… turn on each other like rabid animals while EBay takes everything back. Ah, fun times are comin’…
Yes, indeedee.
As Aidget says, I really think you all have to take this “Brolis Rock” alliance thing with a grain of salt. It’s an inside joke that evolved out of the back-and-forth trolling that’s been going on between us in our MANY match-ups since launch.
…
Or is it?
Plans and phases … phases and plans …
Let me explain the issue I have with BP:
1) You guys have the night time population of a high t4/ low t3 server
2) Your NA population is very similar to Ehmrys (Mid to low t4)You should be destroying this tier but instead are being destroyed. When you (Borlis) decides to attack, you use the most plain methods possible. Be it either golem rushing or attacking when there is no opponent. You don’t use trick play, coordination of several attacks on different objectives, or even ninja attempts. Just like last reset on Ehmry borderlands, all you did was bounce between the different keeps hoping something would work. I consider that terrible gameplay.
We on Ehmry respect those who are good. Whether it is ADQQSTY who will beat the kitten out of you or Maguuma of old whose coordination of their whole server was downright scary. Borlis Pass just does not have much going for it.
I’m inclined to agree with Gorefiend on this one. I’m not going to argue populations, because we lack real data on that, but I can speak from the experiences I’ve had this week and the last. From what I’ve seen, the groups of DR / EBay our server’s forces face do tend to prevail more often than not in even-sided, open field fights. I will not hesitate to say that, in general, their tactics are better.
Furthermore, I don’t have a window into the guiding principles that drive their campaigns to say authoritatively, but I do believe in an intuitive sense that their strategies are better as well. What Gorefiend describes are the kinds of things I fantasize about our server doing, but that just won’t at our current level of coordination.
In light of this, that we did so well last week came as a complete surprise to me. This week is much more what I was expecting (and to be truthful, hoping) for from the matchup; to get a good beating that helps make clear Borlis’ need to improve our coordination and general approach to WvW.
Whether or not that will happen is hard to say. People cannot be told how to “play” because the sole incentive here is fun, and hence they shall play as they find most enjoyable. For many, at least on our server, that does not involve tailoring their builds to fit a group dynamic or exercising disciplined open-field coordination in VoIP. Sure, people want to win, but they are not forced to change because if WvW is not going well with their play style that week, they can just leave to PvE or sPvP and wait until we drop down to more “manageable” opponents again.
But, here’s to hoping that those here like me eventually get heard, and things do change! If not for our own sake, then at least for the sake of you guys having something better to fight than “trash”
Hail servers of Tier 5! On behalf of the Pass, please accept my sincerest apologies for any offenses, direct or perceived, that may have occurred here since my last post in this thread. You must forgive us … the desolate passage through the Shiverpeaks that we call home is a backwater place. We rarely receive visitors, and our contact with the outside world is infrequent at best (and even then it has primarily been with our dear friends, the denizens of Anvil Rock … but let’s be frank, ’tis a silly place, and sorely wanting for culture).
As such, we are a simple folk, with correspondingly simple pleasures. Good company and good mead tend to work us into a frothy tizzy, and though this usually results in excursions to go Dolyak-tipping (a favorite past-time of ours), occasionally this spills over into WvW and our communications with our rivals there. Sad but true, our gusto for the good fight occasionally causes some of us to slip into our local rude-anese dialect, which may be offensive to some.
Let me assure you, there are generally only a select few for which this is the case, and I’d venture to say that they still generally mean well. Thus, to facilitate the smoothening of the many ruffled feathers I’ve been seeing here recently, I will take it upon myself (when I am able) to serve as a translator of our oft-maligned native tongue, whenever it should arise. Let me begin with the passage below:
I do not care about what evilzara said and i dont know what she’s was doing in your forums, all i heard was some good quotes from your server about how our zergs (the BP zergs and guilds) are a joke, And that was my answer to them and only them, there’s no need to type a paragraph over my post #InternetDrama2013
Translated:
“Tiddlywinks! I am sorry for any damages that others of my server may have wrought among your local forums. Forgive us the transgression, for rumors had reached us of some disparaging remarks originating their of our good name. My previous remarks were aimed only to address these, which seem now only to be ill-gotten whispers not intended to see the light of day. Should I have caused any concern with mine, consider me a Moa, pluck me clean, and roast me for Wintersday. We’re all here to have a rollicking time, and in the interest of good sport, I hope we all can assure this remains the rule rather than the exception in the future. Kindest regards to you and all of yours, dear friends of Ehmry Bay, and should you receive any boats in with tea from Elona any time soon, please do save a bushel for me. I’ll be happy to reimburse you twice the fair market price, as I do love its characteristic pungent aroma and the earthy after-taste it leaves on the palate.”
Behold! Not nearly as bad as what may have been interpreted by those foreign to our lingo. So let’s all continue to please be good chaps, and appreciate the lessons we are able to teach each other about not only battling over ghostly lands in the mists, but about the wider world beyond Tyria as well.
Always,

Props to you guys on this. I think this has been one of the biggest factors for us (Borlis Pass) in the success we’ve had, is the growth of an informal pan-guild community via Teamspeak and our forums.
I shudder to think of what you guys would be capable of if you could get your unusually high concentration of skilled players coordinated 0_0
Hey, Kyle Finnegan – I got your back, bro! I’ll be your second if anyone thinks they can take on Borlis’ finest 1v1!
Not sure I’d classify myself as one of Borlis’ finest, but I’m certainly honored by your kind words, and must happily say that I’ve got your back, too! Love any opportunity I get to work with you [WAR] people, classy group
Props to BP for making a whole other tier rage. You guys honestly deserve to be in one of the top 3-4 tiers for sure. Hopefully we’ll meet you guys in 5 before you move up =)
I don’t think I fully expressed my thanks for Anvil Rock in my earlier post, so here’s a link to a shout-out in a post I just put up to try and quell some of the raging going on in our current match-up thread. It’s been absolutely ballistic since last night’s antics!

I am sure you guys can make it in Tier 5. To be honest, I think the mandates set forth by the Brolis Rock Plans and Phases Committee … or was it Phases and Plans? I fail to recall :’( … guarantee that wherever we end up, you will be there too. Looking forward to a happy reunion in a better place. Brolis Rock 4 life \m/

EDIT: PS – Thanks for sprinkling some comical nuggets in our thread, Kodiack, I like the cross-pollination
This thread has taken a decidedly negative turn recently, and as some others have expressed, I’d really like to see it stay positive and constructive. Pursuant of that, I’d like to clear a few things up (and I am saying this as much to my own server as to DR and EBay):
First of all, I’d like to apologize on behalf of Borlis for any chest-pounding that may be perceived coming from us on these forums. You have to understand that we were quite broken in WvW after our last venture in Tier 5, getting trampled by Dragonbrand, Ehmry Bay, and Maguuma and losing two of our prominent WvW guilds in the process. Hence, the little success we’ve tasted so far this time around has been like a shot of “special” Kool-Aid … and that can do weird things to people and how they behave haha
The bravado you may be seeing (possibly brought about by some recent PvD’ing) is not about the PvD’ing itself; it is about getting a point lead and some vindication at a Tier that so thoroughly thrashed us last time around. There were certainly insecurities about coming back to T5 (rumors of throwing the match to stay in T6 abounded last week), and so it is very gratifying / liberating to see that we can have some success here.
The above also explains part of the story as to why we are doing well (band-wagoning), but not all of it.
Let’s be honest, a huge (and perhaps grudging) thank you has to be made to Anvil Rock. The “Brolis Rock” matches that have characterized much of our WvW’ing since release have been a real trip, and when we did fall back to T6 from T5 at the start of the new year, they were there waiting for us with open arms. The familiar opponent we found in AR was a big part of our rehabilitation, though I don’t think either of us will admit to just how much we’ve helped each other learn and improve, especially in the recent matches (I’d expect them to be making an appearance in T5 soon!). I kind of suspect there’s been T5 level-play going on in T6 for a while now, though this has largely remained concealed by Glicko locking us there. Along with NSP’s notorious roamers (here’s looking at you, PAXA and Envy) keeping everyone honest, things were often very intense.
I don’t think that our resurgence can be attributed to any significant guild pick-ups … unless I’ve really been missing something out there, the only pick-up we’ve had was a small guild, TTA, from FC a few weeks ago. Also, I don’t think that spring break plays any bigger role for us than it would for DR / EBay, but that’s just my intuition.
What I think can be cited for our performance is that those left in the wake of the first T5 disaster have stepped up, improved, and worked hard bringing more home-grown numbers into WvW. Just about everyone with an ego that got in the way before either left or has (mostly) gotten over it. Consequently, as a server we’ve become much more cohesive and friendly (generally speaking) through interactions on a variety of extra-Tyrian mediums. Finally, as much as we love (cough) AR, the matchup was a bit tired, and I think the move up to T5 brought back a lot of people that had grown bored of the typical grind in T6.
So again, I just want to emphasize, take everything that is said here with a grain of salt. We are all operating within a different context (server history, personal experience playing the game, preferred experience playing the game, etc), so there are bound to be differences, but I think the fact that we are all here on a forum should guarantee that we are at least open-minded about this and able to discuss it on civil terms.
Also, I would love to learn what I can from those of you on DR / EBay that pride yourselves on playing your classes well (Archer, KStudios, others?). I cannot guarantee you a particularly thrilling or glorious fight (I’m WvW born and raised), but if you see me online, send me a whisper or maybe I’ll whisper you! If I’m not doing guild stuff, hopefully I can join you for some sparring. Yes, I play a D/D – SB thief … but please don’t judge and give me a chance! I can at least guarantee I am not a glass cannon and do not use Basilisk Venom / Assassin’s Signet or other gimmicky 1v1 tricks (though maybe a lot of stealth…).
Anyway, I’ve already probably exceeded the threshold of what people will be willing to read, so I’ll end with a tl;dr:
It is an honor to fight you all, and I hope we can learn a lot from each other this week and in the future.
Always,

Not to be an interloper in another match-up’s thread, but just wanted to pop in and give a little cheer of “Go AR!”
As much as we may have rubbed each other wrong in our long and storied Brolis Rock history, I miss having you guys around. Though it’s too early in the week to tell for sure, from how things are looking in T5 right now you guys definitely deserve to be here. I think we’ve certainly learned a lot from each other, and helped each other improve. Why should that stop now?
And, given Borlis’ reputation for night-capping, etc., I felt you might get a kick out of this post in our current match-up thread:

Thanks for the kind words in the BP/DR/EB thread, and good luck to you guys too! It’s been a heck of a reset so far … we actually did great out of the gate, but then EB’s large numbers hit our homelands in force and things started turning green alarmingly quick. It’s going to be a hard-fought week, and I’m sure we’ll learn a lot.
Also, I certainly think you guys are more than capable of making it to Tier 5, and I hope you get here! It seems to be like a revolving door where it’s two underdog teams taking on whatever team gets kicked down from T4 for the week … would maybe be interested in forming some joint-server plans to give them some trouble

This week, our deal with BP is for AR to place third, finally, so that DH has a warm welcome into the tier as a superior Red Team over their predecessors.
AR works out deals with BP so they can come in 2nd every week, that’s why they are focusing you guys.
We always hash out these deals with BP on a teamspeak server that we share, for the sole purpose of manipulating our tier for our amusement in regards to toying with the Red Team server that can’t stand against the combined might and cruelty of Brolis Rock.
Borlis Rock! lol, I love this
In other news, was defending Hills keep in DH BL this morning and a random DH just appeared out of nowhere in inner courtyard. Screen attached. I expect Brazilian Legion can sort this out among themselves and figure out what was going on? (Maybe he was just really good at hiding … though I am skeptical because there were multiple sweeps over the period of hours that we had been holding Hills up to that point).

Warrior has some decent support capabilities. Shouts with soldier runes and vigorous shout, Warbanner for clutch AoE rallies / claimer res, bow adrenaline skill for large, long-lasting fire field (might stacking, anyone?
.
And yeah, as Resonance points out, eles can throw down a whole lot of combo fields.
Tier 6 currently seems to have well balanced WvW with essentially no queues, and opportunity for single, small group, and zerg level play. At least from my experience playing on BP and watching the weekly match scores.
Perhaps I am being presumptuous in saying so, but consider tier 6. We tend to have very close and competitive match-ups, with a lot of friendly (and not so friendly) inter-server rivalry. I personally play on Borlis Pass, and naturally will put my plug in for us, but you really can’t go too wrong. T6 has a nice balance of population, giving opportunities for both zerg-level, small group, and individual roaming play styles. Anyway, if you want to talk more, feel free to contact me, otherwise good luck in your server search :-)
