As an outsider (For the Pass!), can confirm that DR has a great community. Their server website has really been growing over the past couple months, and they have a great core group of players invested in guaranteeing people can have fun without pretense

I’ve always said spouse, which isn’t particularly indicative one way or another. Especially in todays age of same sex marriages, lol. The best thing about the way I’ve set this up is assumptions one way or another are a wall of safety behind which I can safely nestle. It’s actually MUCH harder to hide when using TS. Since there’s verbal patterns and inflections that are typically particular to either gender. Regardless of how careful one is, slip-ups happen.

Aren’t Borlis Brawlers a GvG all star team? Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely good. But, I heard they’re comprised of good players from different guilds.
That’s cool, but not as impressive as a normal guild group that plays together regularly.
No, not really. We have a handful decent players, majority of mediocre and some very subpar players. More often than not our driver is drunk, late or doesn’t have a kittening mouse. We never run together, we never practice; we just show up and kill kitten on gvg night. BB is open to pretty much anyone on BP who is capable of pressing buttons, has a level 80 character and has half a brain.
I’m probably going to hurt some feelings by saying this but I personally think that BB is pretty bad. I have no idea how we’ve managed to win all our GvGs aside from one against HOPE.
tl;dr we’re awful but you’re all trash.
Sigh…more BB misconceptions which must be cleared up. Several of us play drunk, not just the driver, but he’s the only one without a mouse. There’s no brain size test…how would we do that? We do let Gibbon bring uplevels, he usually just chooses not to. Pressing buttons is optional, staying alive is encouraged, and just kind of running around hoping not to be noticed is tolerated (in BB verbage that’s called tactics). And Vrael is being way too rough on himself, he’s par but not sub-par, certainly not awful, but as he notes we have to take who shows up and even when we tell him the wrong venue he finds his way to the match anyway.

If you are talking about the DIE vs. BB match-up, 20v20 would certainly have been out of our reach. I had not been planning to attend but got called in last minute (in the middle of some rather embarrassing RL circumstances lol) because we were scrambling to even get 15 together

From what I understand Borlis Brawlers is an accumulation of BP’s best players coming together to hold hands. Why is BP talking kitten about a GVG where they needed their entire server to win?
First of all, BB’s certainly not all the best of Borlis! BB evolved from the desire of a number of players across different guilds wanting to GvG, but not having enough interest within their respective guilds to get groups together. If it were a try-hard assemblage of the best BP has to offer … well, let’s just say that there are plenty of other players that would better fit the role of staff ele than me playing on an alt! This is not to say that some frequent attendees are not skilled, of course, but any benefit gained from that is balanced by the fact that we only all play together once or twice a week, with group comp being different just about every time
Second, unless I’m missing something, BB has never been anything but amicable to its opponents, win or lose, here on these forums?
Hats off to everyone this week, may have been my favorite week of leagues so far. Always fights to be had any time of day. SBI played the role of benevolent overlord wonderfully and from what I saw didn’t overly focus either of the lower servers, allowing us to really slug it out to determine the 2nd place (which is still far from over, keep at it BP!).

Had some awsome fights against a [WAR] Warrior, that guy is a beast and very godlike.

For the record, I for one like EBay. No period in Borlis’ history ever saw greater WvW improvement than the tail-end of our 13 week match-up.

Echoing Maestro, the few times I’ve gotten to play this week have been very fun, especially against the odds that SBI has to offer! It’s always a rush whenever we see those DDLG / BAEST tags incoming

Nothing wrong with re-prioritizing, as I am sure Kyle can attest to.
Re-prioritizing is definitely a good thing … except when it cuts into your play times on weeks like this when you have the opportunity to fight and learn with larger and more experienced servers T_T
Since the match randomization started, BP really hasn’t seen any instances where we were matched simultaneously against two superior servers. In light of this, the true test for BP this week (in my eyes) is not one related to the scoreboard … it will be seeing how we react to getting repeatedly face-punched and seeing our best efforts all-too-often fall short.
Either cracks will start to form, or we will emerge stronger from the crucible of adversity. I hope it is the latter!

To discount any improvement on the part of BP is ignorant, and I know you’re better than that Bolevine. DB is an amazing guild and a welcome addition to the Pass, but recent success is equally attributable to the fact that we have a great, growing community, and to improvements implemented across the board in terms of organization and group tactics.
Am I suggesting we stand even a candle flame’s chance in a hurricane of winning this match? Of course not. Coverage will likely dictate otherwise. We will have a good time though, which is all we can ask for. First 13 hours down, and many to go. Continued luck everyone

Accusations of exploits happen all the time, and are inevitably extrapolated by the accused server to be an attack on their entire population. Frequently this spirals into a back-and-forth flamefest (as it has here). Instead of perpetuating this, let’s all just agree that:
1) Exploiting is inexcusable. BP, as a community, has zero tolerance for this, but that doesn’t stop the occasional bad egg from spoiling things. If evidence is messaged to us we will do all that we can internally to try and get to the bottom of it, including reporting the offending parties.
2) SBI / Kaineng are not “bad” or whining. Having fun in a game is predicated upon the agreement of all parties to play by a set of rules. When these rules are broken (or perceived to be), that pact founders and people will (rightfully) feel betrayed.
Remember, fun is a mutual endeavor in which we all play an indispensable role. Keep it civil, or at least keep it to sportsmanlike trash-talking

Well, no offense, but my past experiences with PAXA have been that you like to get kills, but not necessarily play the WvW objectives games. Which – I think – may play into your notions of what has been forced upon you. That is to say, you never need more than 1 person to get some kills in WvW. However, if you wish to successfully defend a WvW objective against zergs of 30+, a small, coordinated group of 15 is highly effective and necessary to secure those objectives.
As I previously alluded, T7 is a great place to have small group combat since the zergs aren’t quite as big and/or prevalent. T5 is not – I frankly have not roamed solo for months, because I simply couldn’t accomplish much of anything without being chased down by 15 players that kept streaming out of their waypoint’d keep at us no matter how many times I killed them. (That and Warriors were nerf’d really hard for a time). Therefore, many of us felt in necessary to organize into larger, more effective fighting units.
We are continuing these tactics this week in order to get some more practice, and in anticipation of fighting bigger servers in the future. Thus, these smaller servers are at the mercy of our larger groups. And that’s something that I don’t think is fun for anyone – and that’s a problem that Anet has created with this odd randomization of match ups. The ironic thing is that when we fight a bigger server, our groups of 15 will be crying out to those servers to fight us with less than 30+ zergs
I understand your personal wishes. My point is on a grand scale. This game is not breeding competition between players. It’s breeding coasting through a relatively simple environment. Less abilities, less classes, less Aoe cap, less reason for anyone to want to get better and out on their own as opposed to relying on the servers wvw population in order to fight red. My point is that every server has the 90% and higher majority ONLY Zerging as their form of fun. And there is a SUPER slow ( if any ) graduation rate from that form of mentality. Zerging is for new people and some who actually enjoy it as their casual way to play. In most mmos or at least successful pvp mmos, people eventually move on from Zerging to running in smaller but more coordinated groups. Not the case in GW2.
If I can add in my 2 cents, I think what Wala is trying to convey is that what PAXA does on scales of 5 man is exactly what we are trying to get going on scales of 15-20. Both of our groups seek to leverage force multipliers to take on odds that would otherwise be insurmountable, and thus give our side a manpower advantage. Since we are coming from a T5 context, our primary targets are 25-30 man groups, and so that is why the size of our organized groups are larger.
To say that we are just a mindless 1-spamming zerg, though, is a bit underselling. While we are new and still require a lot of practice to improve our execution, we go over each class (if not each person’s) skill bar beforehand to experiment and optimize it for our purposes. Every utility, every weapon set, heck even sigils, runes, and nourishments, are being picked for maximum group functionality, and are all being used in the struggles we are designed for: that is, larger groups.
So yes, maybe against a lot of the smaller groups your servers fields in the current matchup we appear to be a bunch of 1 spamming zombies, but it’s only because the situation dictates nothing more. Besides, it looks like groups fighting favorable odds and using non-1 skills (e.g. the Mass Invis mentioned earlier in this thread) are getting flamed just the same: darned if you do, darned if you don’t hehe

BP – Please embrace the truth; we are winning because of our numbers. Did we learn some things from EBay and start using TS more widely? Sure, a few. But the number imbalance with EBay was nowhere near what it is here, where we’d still be winning by a landslide without any use of strategy. Any discussions to the contrary are a moot point and only serve to antagonize HoD/DR
HoD / DR – I am sorry that you got stuck with us this week, but please don’t forget that this cuts both ways. While BP does have some groups that attempt to behave in a skilled, force-multiplying fashion, ours for one has been pretty much inactive since reset because we end up spending more time looking for like-sized groups to fight than we do actually fighting. We’ve been replaced by a legion of fair-weathers. Please don’t caricature our entire server based upon this limited sampling.
To everyone, let’s just stick it out and get through the week. I can’t make any promises for the next since it’s all a roll of the die, but try and find enjoyment where you can and don’t get burned out. That doesn’t do anyone any good!
