I saw the way you looked at me —like I was a perfect flower in the forest of ugly. A flower that you had to have all to yourself. You moved through the massive throng with purpose and hungry intent. You shoved someone near me away, leaving only you.. and me. It was almost too much for me, the intensity and raw need, but I couldn’t help but smile in return. It was nice to be wanted…
I let you get close to me; I let you draw me in… and that is when you showed your true colors. The illusion of passion shattered under your malicious intent. But as your sword sunk deep into my heart and you watched me blow away into a thousand pink butterflies you realized who the true master of illusions really is.
That’s when I came up behind you and bat your kitten over the cliff where you fell to your death. Mesmers are like that..
Oh you can’t kill me. Not when I just made this nice delicious batch of cookies.
Oh no.. I’m not falling for that.
..again.
Greetings and it’s a pleasure to meet you fine people. It will also be a pleasure to kill you all.
This will certainly be an interesting week for me, and many others of SBI. I am expecting one of two things and it will be interesting to see which of them plays out.
Until then /tiphat
Have fun T1 people. May the best excuse win!
I’m going to go sit on the walls of SBI citadel and watch our team watch other teams take our keeps and towers. Maybe I’ll sit with the same six people that stood on the stairs of north camp last night and watch the enemy take it away from us again. I think maybe they were just practicing RP.
Maybe I should do that, too:
I say, my good man, I do believe those fellows in the red names are giving that supervisor a right good flogging!
Yea, I do believe you are right ol’ chum. Mayhaps we should help him?
And have those ruffians muss our coats as well? Madness! Let us just stand here on these stairs, in the pretense of safety, and hope that the just go away.
Yes, yes. That does sound the better. Though… I believe that small rat faced one is heading this way!
((hey guys, I need to hit the can. I’ll be right back))
((Yeah, sure. I need to take the trash out anyway. Back in five…then dance party at the tavern in Lion’s Arch!))
How, exactly, would you place metrics on this? Would you blindly reward the first place winner of that tier —of all tiers? If so, what is stopping people from even more server hoping just to get their flashy new reward for their “hard earned participation”?
I, too, would love to see those who deserve a reward get one.. but how do you measure who that is? Kills? Repelling the enemy? Was it you that actually did all the work to get that kill? Were you one of the many scared people who just sat dumbfounded watching the enemy storm your keep when a handful actually did the work to repel them? How would Anet know?
Capital letters, accusations, Guild corporations and their vacation policies…
Sorry I’m missing out on all this. I’m currently packing my bags for my trip to T-2. I’m packing my “everyone left the server? huh.. Saw that coming” and my “Holy kitten!! First place? No kitten?!” because I’m not sure what the weather will be like down there.
I’ll see if I can’t find a post card.
… Simply make each objective or player kill worth a static amount of progression “xp” that is split between everyone who participated in killing or capturing. This will cause people to try to do things with as few people as they possibly can to maximize their “xp”.
I believe this is called PvE and is already in the game. I don’t think most people who WvWvW are there for the PvE.
I do agree that we need less zergs. I enjoy strats and tactics more than mob vs doors. I just think that the mindless zerg is far easier for most people so even if there was another method in place (to reinforce strategy) that it would be used. I mean, most people would rather run around and kill random things than defend so… I don’t see how adding “objectives” or “kill xp” would help.
I really think all you need to know about Jedah can be found reading his wall of text regarding his Guilds’ “Holiday Leave Policy”, LMAO. Seriously bro.
Say all you want, MERC is probably one of the biggest guilds left in the game. Just last Friday they had 200 members online at the same time (it might even be nightly idk). That may not have even been the only guild they have considering they are at member cap. Given that, I can almost guarantee your replies are overreaction out of frustration.
What a coincidence! I think Stormbluff had almost 200 online at the same time too! It was amazing =D
Awesome! Thanks Mike.
If SBI does drop to T2, I’d get busy reinforcing your doors. They are NOT nice neighbors. I will be throwing eggs at the bus as they leave town though, in an effort to get some on cover girls face. =)
And now we wait and see if the elusive Cover Girl takes the mighty hunter’s bait….
LOL your mad bre..its ok though, we still love you all for coming to the camp and entertaining us
Not mad what so ever, however I was kind of like “So they’re just going to sit there all day and shoot into the camp? Why’ll their stuff is being taken? Makes sense to me. Let’s see how many we can get up here before we die to pull them away from other things.”
And it worked everytime.
I’m not sure how it worked every time. I think there was two, maybe three of us that were actually sitting on the siege (discussing other things while we waited for you to come visit). As for everyone else, they were likely following the afore mentioned “training” that a previous commander spoke of. We normally had to pull them up to the camp when you wanted to play.
Otherwise, it was a small number of us on the siege. I know this because it was me that was dropping cows on your head… and I got a lot of bags and badges off of that.
I believe the “training” was happening down south with the commander and not with folks like me on the treb.
That said, I did learn a lot about proper dead cow placement, how to hit 2 at the right times! I even used some advanced tactics and hit 1 and 3 a couple of times. It was amazing!
Are we really trying to trash talk about people using siege? I mean, I could talk about how north camp was quickly turned into a kill zone that SoS and JQ suddenly avoided for hours unlike any other night where the very same place is that dive bar every red name goes to before hitting up their next party place of choice.
I could point out that it took until about 3:30am Central before it was flipped (and then quickly flipped right back). I could even throw out some sort of taunt or claim about Ewoks, Godzilla with a saddle, or my Lord Jesus Christ.. but why do that?
That was a lot of fun at the north camp… until it got completely silent.
Hats off to the JQ that slipped out of my field of view. I just couldn’t get the cows to you in time. But getting it back with yaks was beautiful as well =D
what up SoS, 3 waypoints in yo crib!
Gem sales must be great there. That’s a lot of commander icons.
Any matchup where all sides use strategy and planning instead of Ego vs Ego and Zerg merrg-go-rounds.
I seem to remember another NCSoft based game that allowed you to disable player models and still show nameplates… Why can’t that be used here?
Whether SBI is dead or not, I cannot fully say. What I can say is that it isn’t the same server it used to be. In the recent weeks I have watched many good players/guilds suddenly disappear and leave people I’ve never seen before in their wake.
I have seen us go from partaking in some very well orchestrated tactics to two-days-after release where people take supplies from keep and don’t defend what we own.
I think many people have jumped ship at this point. The people we do have just tend to follow random blue tag to camps and beat on doors they really shouldn’t be beating on.
T2 is pretty much already a done deal. We are just waiting on the paperwork, at this point. I hope that we can regroup then.
SoS at garrison east gate, Cover asked me to thank you for putting golems under oil so she could get bags.
@moirweyn
Your sig amuses me. That is all.
Poor MERC guy got confused and went to the wrong port area. We pointed him in the right directions with our weapons…
That looks like some Legenaries that were on smoke break… and will be fired soon.
Those dolls are creepy. I’d run too.
If only there were some sort of indication that an arrow cart, or any siege for that matter, were firing at a particular location…
I agree… But then again after being on a treb for 2-3 hours last night and occasionally firing diseased cows.. It’s kind of funny at how many kills you can get while people stand in the green gas.
Trebs I can kinda get. I mean, if you’re at the location a treb is going to hit, you are probably more focused on the kids knocking down your door/wall then looking at the fireball in the sky and doing some quick geometry to see if you’re about to get screwed. Then again, the first time you get rocked by a massive explosion… maybe it’s a good indicator that your present location is no longer a safe place to stand.
If only there were some sort of indication that an arrow cart, or any siege for that matter, were firing at a particular location…
@hoschi
SF is one of the groups that I’ve seen good things from. My statements are not directed at those who are obviously helping out. My statements are due to the visible change in the mindset of those participating in WvWvW. Yeah, there are still good commanders. We are still in T1. That said, the coordination is starting to come apart.
As for getting out and doing something about it, you’ll most likely find me escorting yaks, taking back camps to build defensive seige, queuing upgrades to every tower, keep, garrison that doesn’t currently have it, sweeping objectives we take, calling out inc on yak jumpers and those towers that our zerg has abandoned after taking, hiding in keeps to port people back in, as well as getting off the wall and charging enemy cats/trebs when the people behind me would rather watch from the walls than help.
My statements are not directed at SF, or those who are obviously doing a good job with what you have to work with. My statements are more saying, what happened to all we had to work with? I don’t want to see us adopt a “for the swarm” mentality and just run around attacking everything with a red name tag.
@kidbs
I’ve noticed the “reputable” commanders not being on as often, and replaced with people that I’m assuming just had 100g to spend. We still have good folks. We have good leaders that don’t have tags. I’m just hoping the rebuilding goes well and less people jump ship.
Anyway, apparently my comments were taken poorly. If I offended you, it wasn’t my intention. If you’re pulling your weight, thanks. If you aren’t.. well..
I’ve seen a lot of call outs for people running instances on the two servers I’ve been on, so I wouldn’t expect that to be an issue. If you are interested in WvW, I’d look at either Tier1 or Tier2 servers, depending on your level of interest in WvW. You can check that here : http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
I am on Stormbluff Isle and we have been in T1 for a while now. We tend to have some pretty good matches so you should have fun wherever you go. Though, if you go to Sea of Sorrows or Jade Quarry, just know that I will have to kill you =)
Even outside of WvW, I’d expect these places to have good populations.
Good luck in finding a place to call home.
There are plenty of alternatives, but it would be helpful to know what you want from the game. Do you care about WvWvW? Do you mostly do PvE? Are you into world events and just looking for more activity or are you looking for groups to farm instances?
Honestly, I’m not sure what happened. I can recall times on SBI where it looked like a well oiled warmachine (even without WM’s help, though it was certainly noticeable with it). We had commanders that worked together in a strategic fashion. We took locations —AND HELD THEM-- and build up our defenses so that when the opposition came, we were actually prepared.
Now, it’s a bunch of random flipping with zero coordination or control. We have people queuing up waypoints without upgrading the doors first. We have commanders that would rather try to flip nodes in a linear fashion (showing anyone who is watching where our main force is) than take back a keep where a mesmer hid for almost a full hour… only to lose it again in under 10 min.
If we, SBI, drop to T2, I won’t be surprised. I won’t be thrilled, but I certainly won’t be surprised.
I miss the strats and tactics…
All I see is…
“In October, we quickly added a seasonal event with new loot, skins, puzzles, and even some mini-pvp match fun. We did that before any of those elite kids cried about going back to pandas.
In November, we made all of you hate sea food so much that your Thanksgiving dinner was pure bliss — oh, and we gave those treadmill kids something to shoot towards without pissing off people that have legendaries already.
We’re going to add more presents under the tree in December so those PvE kiddies have new toys to play with…
…so that you and I can have some quality time together.
So after all this, I might take a little time off in January.. but know this baby… I’m getting you something special for Valentine’s Day.
XOXO
-Anet
p.s. Looking forward to the 1v1 time… "

Come on SBI, lets keep the game clean. More then a little surprised to see a couple of WM tags in this attempted wall hack.
What, exactly, am I looking at here?
The last game where I saw all kinds of “omg hax” screenshots was also backed by NCSoft. A lot of false claims were made due to general crappy rendering of characters and world models.
I’m not supporting/defending anything here. I’m more pointing out that a picture of people fighting in an WvWvW environment (because that’s all I see here) attached to a hacking claim is just more fuel for witch hunts that I really would not like to plague us.
Whatever side you’re on, leave the hacks out. It doesn’t buy anyone anything. If you think you’ve spotted an individual/group/guild participating in something shady, take it up with ANet and the involved party and their server’s leaders (I’m pretty sure we know who they are by now). Let’s leave witch hunts to history lessons, eh?
SoS:
Gearmatrix might have dropped his wallet on one of the last havoc runs. If you find it during your victory lap, could you please return it? It’s easy to spot because it’s the one that says "Bad Mo Fo " on it.
Thanks!
Refreshing seeing you SoS guys out there last night. Just about every keep, camp, or road that I found myself on went a little something like this…
and once the gates where down…
So I thought I’d just chill out and run yaks until your ninja doom squad appeared..
I don’t know how you guys pull this stuff off. There are just so many of you! ><
(disclaimer: Youtube doesn’t use kittens…)
Every war has infiltration groups, or ways of deploying massive amounts of ground forces quickly. It just so happens that in the world of Tyria, we use magic instead of APCs or paratroopers.
Also, every war has infantry units which are specialized in gaining access to enemy strongholds or fortifications with the purpose of getting their own army within the enemy’s territory.
Not every infantry’s role is to be a sack of meat with a weapon.
I remember that push at bay. I was too busy running around putting upgrades and defense on northern keeps to join in on that party. Ima gonna have to stop being a team player and just roll with the zerg more often. You guys always have so much fun without me!
Also, for those that asked, it is currently 12:53pm Central Time. This post comes to you smack in the middle of my work day
