I don’t know why you’re complaining about seeding. Here are my µTorrent stats for the last 31 days:
- downloading 717.6 GB
- uploading 34.4 GB
- D + U 752 GB
As you can see you can download as much as you want while uploading/seeding a minimum. In my µTorrent settings the uploading speed is limited to 15 kb/s maximum, 1 kb/s once the downloading is over. Once I got what I wanted, once the downloading is over I stop the torrent, I don’t upload/seed anymore. By default the uploading speed in µTorrent settings is set to unlimited, that’s probably your problem, that’s why it’s slowing down your internet connection. 15 kb/s is the number that works for me but you just have to test, which minimum uploading speed will give you the maximum downloading speed.
BTW an alternate source like torrents would be really useful not just for patches but also for downloading the game itself. A lot of people already complained that they couldn’t download the game from this site. Or that it stopped at x %.
Presumably ANet wants player retention (like any MMO) to sell their future expansions (and of course, their online store).
Well, if they indeed want player retention then they’re doing it all wrong. In case you didn’t notice yet maps are already getting empty. It didn’t take long to smart players to figure out what this game really is. Your choices are extremely limited once you’re 80 :
- quit, go play another game and wait for something new. And I mean something really new, with real content. Things like those Halloween events are only good at entertaining 10 year old kids. Plus it’s an excellent opportunity to make them spend and waste $$$, isn’t it?
- level another character and do the exact same things all over again, knowing that there’s nothing at all once you’re 80.
Okay, I understand the being easier to click on in a group thing, but slower animations? It’s just the illusion of being slower, not actually being slower, right? It only makes an artificial difference.
Of course it will take the exact same time for a Norn and an Asura to get from point A to point B. But since Norn legs are much bigger than Asura ones, since there’s more space bewteen Norn feet than Asura feet, if both were animated the same way, with the same speed, Norn would go from A to B a lot faster. So the devs were forced to slow down all Norn animations. It’s not an illusion, it’s not artificial if you can FEEL it. And big Norn feel horribly slow. Don’t forget that all you do in this game is running and fighting. If it constantly feels slow that’s a really big problem. Think about it very carefully when you’re making your character.
I didn’t know what to do with my karma either so I spent it on cultural weapons (Norn T3 longbow and shortbow).
I just saw one a few minutes ago in Frostgorge Sound, so yes they’re already in the game.
This thread is really useful. To hackers I mean. Now they know exactly who to target
That’s because they’re huge and fat. Ask people to imagine what a smart person should look like, it will NEVER be a giant. It’s the exact opposite in fact, the giant will always represent someone who’s really dumb, a big dumb brute.
About the 10GB limit I just checked with NetMeter. 1 hour of GW2 (farming, DE) = 21MB. I wasn’t doing anything else with my internet connection. So 10GB is more than enough. You’d better be careful though (specially with things like youtube, internet webcams,… people often use those without realizing that they’re in fact downloading datas), 10GB/month is extremely low. You can use a software like NetMeter to monitor how much you’re downloading/uploading.

Secondly, the Norn race do shapeshifting. My main is a Norn warrior and he can turn into a Bear, a Wolf-man, a Raven-man and a Snow Leopard-man (not all at the same time obviously. This is one of the core aspects of the Norn race so if you had done some quick researched before playing you would have known about that.
LOL. The elite skills? 240 seconds cooldown. And you call that a “core aspect of the Norn race”? With such a big cooldown it’s totally useless.
Yes it’s really lame but you’d better get used to it, that’s how this game is going to be. It’s obvious now that GW2 is the typical asian MMORPG where they make $$$ with gambling.
That vista is the reason why Dredgehaunt Cliffs is the only map I haven’t completed at 100%. I tried multiples times already but I finally gave up, it’s not worth it.
I just previewed the T3 medium set, it’s really horrible!! The shoulderpad/hair clipping is aweful. The vest, who had the absurd idea of putting ribbons there?? Aweful as well. And the whole thing costs 109 gold? lol. The T2 medium set looks much better. That’s what my female Norn ranger is wearing. Plus the 63k karma shortbow and the 63k karma bow.
Anything that increases the difficulty in this game is a good thing.
That’s funny, the medium T2 cultural set is the main reason why I leveled a Norn ranger.
1 thing? Bots definitely. Since I hate Orr I spend all my time in Frostgorge Sound (WTB more L80 maps btw), bots really are all over the place. I systematically report them, which isn’t that easy when it’s a huge group constantly moving, but it’s extremely depressing to see that there are more bots than real players. When you see that you’re really wondering what you’re doing there.
No you can’t tell which map has already been explored at 100%. You have to take note of that yourself, draw a map or write the name of the completed map somewhere.

Like Sentinel said it’s always the same voice. I have 2 Norn female characters, warrior and ranger, it’s the exact same voice speaking the exact same way. I don’t think there’s something wrong with their voice, it fits perfectly with the race. A 9 feet tall fighter speaking with a girly voice, THAT would sounds really strange.
(edited by Leto.5642)
They knew it wasn’t worth it, that’s why they left. Splendid chest, veteran mob, that doesn’t mean that you’re going to get something interesting. It’s a mistake in my opinion, the reward should be proportional to the time/effort needed.

There’s the repair command
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
start the game with “gw2 -repair”
You could also try to download the game from another source. Easy to find with Google. Check that it’s reliable first, don’t get hacked or something like that.
edit: I just saw this, changing dns worked for someone

lol, the Centaur mount, that’s not insulting at all. In this case we might as well get the Charr mount. Think about it, they’re big and they run on four legs like animals, they would make a perfect mount! Plus riding a sexy female Charr can be really kinky, if you’re into that sort of thing of course.

/mode sarcasm on
How DARE you complain about this?? The intense and epic fun you’re having while fighting that huge dragon is your best reward!! Barely scripted, not challenging a single second, insanely laggy and on top of all that epicness (courtesy of that awesome company called ANet) you’re expecting some decent loot??
/off
I’m still using an old card, ATI HD 4870 512MB. It was already average when I bought it about 4 years ago but I’ve never had any reason to complain about it. Coupled with an old and cheap core duo 3GHz my computer can run the game full details, 1680*1050, with an average of 20FPS. Which is rather good considering how outdated my system is.

Bite is very vulgar? I guess french canada has different meaning than french from france, or there is something I’m ignoring, because it’s not even close to be vulgar..
Verge and lul means pe—-? Verge? It just mean you’re right on the edge of something. As for lul, lol, never knew that.
Google the definition of “verge” in French if you don’t believe me. We almost never use that word btw. About “bite” it’s the popular word if you prefer. Although personaly I think it’s very vulgar. “lul” I didn’t know either. I read on another forum that someone wanted to name his character Lully but it was impossible because it’s partly censored, so he asked why.
About this multilingual filter we had the same problem in Perfect World (a chinese MMORPG). And players were also massively complaining about it. But we found a very easy way to edit the file text containing all the censored words (unpack one of the big game files, edit the .txt, repack, done). So if we didn’t want to see a particular word censored in /world, /map,… chat we just had to delete it from that list.

I’m calling BS on this one as well. I’ve been playing the game for a month [or more] and I play my first character every day [no alts] and I’m JUST on level 29, going onto 30. I gather, mine and chop down trees all the time. I also do DEs and Hearts and all that stuff. Either you’re not a really casual player [I’m about as casual as anyone can get] or there’s something wrong with the game or something… o3o
And I’m calling what you said pure BS as well. So after more than a month you’re only 29??? With just 1 character, no alt? That’s totally impossible. Just like you I was gathering everything, did all quests, participated to all events and guess what, it took me about 10 days to get to 80. There’s really something wrong with you. And yes, leveling in this game is way to easy and way too fast. Considering that there’s nothing at all to do once you’re 80, nothing that’s really worth it I mean, it’s not a really good thing.
(edited by Leto.5642)
You’re not the first one to report this, there’s already a thread talking about aggro problems
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Pets-don-t-tank-anymore/first#post439327
but strangely enough it’s only affecting some rangers. If it was a general problem you would see a lot more posts about this.
(edited by Leto.5642)
That’s probably what happened, you were still in combat without realizing it.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Don’t worry, no need to go in rehab, it will pass once you’re 80. Then you’ll be wondering why you did all that.
(edited by Leto.5642)
They’re unable to script a fight properly, or they don’t want to because it might discourage all the little kids playing this game, so instead they give really high HP to some mobs and called them “bosses”. But anyone who played a real MMORPG knows perfectly well that those “bosses” are a total joke.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Why roll a ranger if you like greatswords that much? That doesn’t make any sense at all. Like some people here already advised if you want to use a gs roll a warrior. And destroy everything that’s in your way with Hundred Blades. Warriors are made for that, unlike rangers. Plus their rifle is quite awesome for range damages.
(edited by Leto.5642)
It’s just a friendly advice from people who have a large Norn and know it’s mistake. Saying not to roll a Norn at all is extreme though. My first character in this game was a female warrior, default size. By the time I realized something was wrong it was a bit too late, I didn’t want to start all over again. One of the problems with such a big size is all animations feel horribly slow. Specially running and figthing of course, fights feel a lot less dynamic because of that. The other problem is jumping puzzles can be a bit more difficult. My second character was still a Norn but this time I didn’t make the same mistake, I picked the smallest size available. And it’s much better this way.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Hated it with my warrior, love it with my ranger. Plus underwater environments look amazing in this game and it’s usually where I’m getting the best FPS.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Google it, it’s easy to find. They’re alternate sources for people like you who are having problems downloading the game from the official site.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Download the game from another source and see if it works.
(edited by Leto.5642)
You don’t need sales numbers, you just have to level a new alt to realize that maps are already getting empty, most events impossible to do because there’s no one else around. Bots on the other end you’re going to see tons of them.
There’s no server community feeling because GW2 is basically a solo game. Sure you see other players in DE but you never talk to them. What would you talk about anyway? They might as well be NPCs spamming their AOE there would be no difference.
(edited by Leto.5642)
I agree, giving some reward to people who are just spamming their AOE is a horrible idea. As far as I’m concerned they’re ruining the game and don’t deserve anything at all.
(edited by Leto.5642)
There’s a big misunderstanding I think, we LOVE our profession, that’s why we’re so angry when we see what’s happening to it. If we didn’t care you wouldn’t see such anger on this forum.
About your accessories -> TP, Trinket category. Compare the items before buying, you can usually get something with almost similar stats but for a much cheaper price. Don’t ignore it just because it’s L78 instead of L80 or a lower level of rarity.
(edited by Leto.5642)
We need to use a respectful tone, or the ranger sub forums might get locked.
Sooo.. Anet, can we pllleeeeaaaassseee have an update on the ranger profession?
Respect works both ways and in case you didn’t notice yet we’re not getting any from Anet.
(edited by Leto.5642)
You could contact Anet about this, submit a Technical Support ticket. If it’s really not working you can always try to get a refund.
(edited by Leto.5642)
It’s not your computer, Bandithaunt Caverns are bugged. Something to do with all those bombs exploding probably. I had to go there a few days ago, I was exploring the map at 100%, and as soon as I entered that cave FPS dropped to 10. Exit the cave, FPS go back to normal.
(edited by Leto.5642)
I reread your posts, you’re not saying if at one point the game was running fine. I mean, has this game never worked on your computer, you’ve never been able to play more than a few minutes? Or is it recent, a few weeks ago you could play normally but since a few days it’s systematically crashing? If it’s recent can you remember what you’ve changed/installed on your computer just before the problem started?
You said you lowered sound quality but with command line arguments you can disable it totally:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
so you could try that. Also about the new drivers installed it can happen that the previous drivers weren’t totally and cleanly desinstalled, some old files are still there and there might be a conflict with the new ones. A software like Driver Sweeper (free) could fix that.
(edited by Leto.5642)
He’s exploiting a bugged rune. This has already been reported on this forum, a developper said that they are going to fix it soon.
Maybe it’s a harsh thing to say but you and all those people complaining about AMD’s poor performances shouldn’t have bought an AMD in the first place. BTW AMD’s future doesn’t look bright at all:
“AMD will announce next week that it will cut between 20 percent and 30 percent of its employees, which, given AMD’s headcount of about 11,100 workers, would amount to between 2,200 and 3,300 jobs.”
“This would be the second major reduction in AMD’s workforce since Read took over as CEO. The company announced a 10 percent reduction 11 months ago. Those cuts amounted to about 1,400”

(edited by Leto.5642)
If your other games are running fine it’s not a RAM problem, if it was they would crash as well. Since your drivers are updated I guess the only thing you can do is indeed reinstalling the game.
(edited by Leto.5642)
Do you have the same problem with all your other games or just GW2?
Same question as mokaiba are all your drivers updated?
I was going to ask if the game also crashes after you killed all unecessary processes but I see that you already tried that. Your CPU isn’t overclocked so that’s not the source of the problem.
You could check your RAM (memtest). You could also check your hard-drive. It’s just an idea but the game might be installed on bad sectors, which would make it crash.
You could reinstall the whole game, maybe something went wrong during the installation and you have corrupted files.
That’s all I can think of at the moment, sorry.
(edited by Leto.5642)
@Leto, I disagree with you, and this thread is not here to start saying the game is lame etc. Its a good game, better than any other MMO available at the moment. To quote Mr Gump “that’s all I have to say about that”.
You asked why there’s no challenge, why it’s just a zerg fest and I gave you the answer. It’s not flaming the game it’s just stating an obvious fact.
(edited by Leto.5642)
lol yes I was really surprised by this as well. I did The Souce of Orr 2 days ago with my ranger. I still remember how hard it was when I first did it with my warrior a few weeks ago. Plus the fact that it was bugged back then so I had to try several times. So I was expecting something quite long and difficult but no the boss had only time to teleport once and it was dead!
(edited by Leto.5642)
lol, they’re bots
Welcome to Bot Wars 2
My god I’m so glad when I see topics like this. Yes once you’re 80 and you have your armors/weapons with skins you like the game is over. Your character is fully geared, looks great but you don’t have ANYTHING AT ALL to do with it. Fanboys are probably going to tell me that it’s the same with any MMORPG. There’s one BIG difference though. With all the other MMORPGs I played it took me at least several months (a few years with WoW) to get to the point where I’m so bored that I’m wondering why I’m still playing the game. With GW2 I was already bored after 2 weeks…
Some of us quickly realized that there’s a serious problem with GW2, it’s nice to see that more and more people are realizing this as well.
