The same thing is happening to me and yes it’s extremely annoying. If this isn’t a bug then was is the point of this? Because it doesn’t make any sense at all.
L80 ranger – 30/30/10/0/0 – crit chance reach 70 with 25 stacks of precision – pet used: alpine wolf (unless he dies, in that case it’s the bear)
I’ve completed 4 maps at 100% this afternoon (2 in Orr, 15-25, 25-40), which means a lot of traveling/fighting, and I haven’t noticed any problem regarding aggro, everything seems normal to me. It’s a bit harder in Orr of course but a canine pet helps a lot. And as you can see I’m not using a special pet build. It’s obvious that there’s a problem for several of you but as far as I’m concerned everything is fine. Regarding aggro I mean, still WTB rollback of that stupid shortbow nerf.
I agree that it’s annoying but this is GW2, you’re not going to see damage reports at the end of the fight. No one cares about how much damages you’re doing, no one can see them, no one can compare them. Besides all bosses are just stupid and easy tank and spank fights, except the tank is random here. It’s not like you need everyone to do their best, to do the most possible dps in order to succeed. I’m certainly not defending Anet, believe me I feel extremely stupid when I’m “fighting” a boss and all I see is some stupid zerg fest but you have to realize that this game is purely aimed at casual players.
What’s surprising about that? The whole game was clearly designed for casual players: no skill needed, no rotation to learn and master, gear doesn’t matter, you basically can’t fail anything,.. I’m sure it’s really fun for little kids but if you’re looking for a real challenge you have to look for another MMORPG.
What I don’t understand is how can something like this happen. No one in their dev team plays a ranger? No one told them they were nerfing the only good thing we had? It’s like they didn’t even realize what they were doing.
I totally agree with Equanox and Gustoril. The leveling part was really fun and exciting but hitting 80 is exactly like hitting a huge wall. And you know that there’s nothing at all beyond that wall. Nothing concrete anyway, only superficial things like cosmetic gear. Sorry but I’m not 12-year-old anymore, I don’t care a single second about what other people might think of my character appearance. I’m not going to waste my time trying to get legendaries or dungeon armors just to show off in LA. What I’m wearing/using now was quite cheap and easy to get (full T2 cultural set for both my L80 characters), I’m more than pleased with the way my characters look so I don’t feel the need to get something else.
So I’ve no valid reason to do anything at all with my L80 characters. Please don’t bother giving me a list of what I could do, I already know all that and there’s absolutely nothing that would worth my time. I was trully amazed when I learnt that legendary weapons have the exact same stats as cheap exotic weapons that anybody can buy in the TP. Considering how hard and expensive they are to get I was expecting über stats, like 150% of what we have now. But no, they’re just normal weapons. And btw a longbow shooting rainbows, really?? Where are we here? “My little pony”? About dungeon armors I’ve already seen them all, as far as I’m concerned they’re all plain ugly. And I’m supposed to get one just so I can show everyone that I’ve run some lame dungeon a gazillion times? No thanks, I’m neither stupid nor 12-year-old. At one point I was farming gold to buy the T3 cultural sets, which look great on my Norn warrior and ranger, but then I realized something. I’m not playing with those characters anymore. So why should I spend all that time trying to get a better looking armor for those characters?
In all other MMORPGs I played the leveling part was ok or fun but the real game started at L80. In GW2 it totally feels like the game ENDS at L80. Unless of course you only care about useless and superficial things.
Nothing surprising about that really. It’s extremely easy to play, a brain dead monkey could play a warrior successfully, and it combines high survivability with high damage output. My first character in this game was a warrior and leveling was really fun. You basically don’t care about anything. You see a group of mobs (even in Orr)? No problem, you can rush right into it. That’s how confident playing that profession makes you feel. In fact it was so easy, greatsword + 5 signets of course, that I was sometimes feeling a bit embarrassed about it. So that’s why you’re seeing so many of them, easy+efficient. Although once 80, like a lot of people, I got really bored so I leveled an alt, a ranger. Since I had been mostly melee for about 2 weeks I wanted to go full range dps this time. And to my surprise the ranger was even easier to level than the warrior. I very rarely died. Not really difficult mind you when it’s the pet who’s taking almost all damages. While you’re safely dpsing from a distance. You have to be more careful though, you can’t rush into groups of mobs anymore. But now that stupid shortbow nerf killed my ranger, killed all the fun I was having with it, so it’s basically useless. Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Yes I leveled to 80 using only a shortbow. All other weapons suck big time so it’s not like I had an alternative. And I tried them so don’t waste your time trying to convince me that some of them are actually worth something. About auto-attacking same answer, no real alternative since the shortbow skills are basically useless. So of course yes that inept nerf totally ruined my game, it took away the fun I was having with my ranger. All that time and gold invested in that character, it was for nothing.
I did this quest a few hours ago and I didn’t have any problem. I’ve no doubt that it’s indeed bugged for some other people but it worked correctly for me. Maybe there’s a mob hidden somewhere that you can’t see. And the quest can’t continue because of that.
Thanks for the info, standing on the door worked. But it would be nice if we didn’t have to look on the internet to find out how to do this. You’re standing in front of a door, you interact with it and it opens, that’s how it’s supposed to work. Having to jump on it is just a workaround so please fix this.
My first character in this game was a female Norn and I recently decided to level a new alt, nothing else to do anyway. I originally intented to play another race, to do something a bit different this time, but guess what, it’s a female Norn once again. I really thought that this new alt would be Human but there’s no way I’m going to play with that. I don’t know if it’s intentional but the way they run it’s exactly like the human females in WoW, they run like monkeys!! With their arms hanging, barely moving. Totally ridiculous. Norn > Human in every possible way. Only difference this time, I didn’t make the same mistake twice, I made my female Norn the smallest possible. And it’s much better this way, they don’t look slow anymore. So I now have have the perfect look with great animations.
If you’re unable to reach a particular vista, because it’s too hard to you or because you have a disability problem, you could ask a friend to do it for you. I’m not talking about sharing accounts, it’s obvious you should never do that, I’m talking about a friend, relative,… who would take your seat in front of the computer for a few minutes, just to help you momentarily with that problem.
World chat without a filtering system would be a total nightmare!! I’m already often forced to turn /map chat off because too many idiots are spamming their LFG/LFM. Can you imagine what it would be like with a global world channel? We would be constantly adding people to our ignore list.
We should have the possibility to
- instantly block messages containing specific words, like LFG/LFM
- automatically block messages when they’re being spammed x times per x period of time
We have add-ons in WoW that can do this kind of things, so we’re able to configure the game the way we want and like. I know it’s never going to happen with ANet, I don’t expect anything smart from them anymore, but at least give us some ways of filtering our chat.
I can confirm this as well. I was doing a quest in Bandithaunt Caverns (Queensdale) a few hours ago and my FPS suddenly dropped to 10. As soon as I left that cavern FPS went back to normal.
They are inferior in survivability (to guardians), damage (to almost everyone else), buffing (to almost everyone else), and control (to almost everyone else)… you name it. Sure they can do these things (to a limited fashion) but overall they’re just terrible.
In dungeons they’re constantly overcome by status effects, their ranged options (the two they have) are passable at best, and they go down like flies while in melee even while spec’d for it.
In terms of complexity it’s really not all that. At all.
Is it necessary that Warriors be this awful so that other classes can just say “Hey, at least you’re not a warrior!”?
I’m really curious what the design philosophy behind warriors was because it seems like they’re the ugly middle children of most everything.
“Aweful”, “inferior in survivability, damages”, really? Then how do you explain that warrior is the most played profession in this game? Are you assuming that we’re all stupid or masochistic? You’re trolling, I don’t see another explanation to your post. Nobody could be that incompetent.
Spybot Search and Destroy (it’s free) is still the best anti-malware I found so far. Much better than Malwarebyte anyway, that one is almost useless. So the next time something like this happens to you give it a try.
gamebooster will help you out by reducing the number of programs you don’t need running in the background. I reccomend checking out the program. I had it on my desktop to help it run Guild Wars 2 better. Saw 30% performance increase. Of course – my desktop is about 8 years old and I just got a new laptop last week.

Game Booster. It’s free and the last version is 3.4.0. It’s not guaranteed that it’s going to improve your computer performances but you can give it a try.

But GaileGray that’s precisely the problem, we ARE reporting them. Yet nothing changes. I just saw that Kalarab (gandara server), he’s still there. And I just found another one, Golirfe. This one is using a teleporting hack to farm the trolls even faster.
Reported as well but I know it’s going to be useless. I’m not sure if you realize this but it’s ruining our game. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with your anti-farming code now we have to deal with those bots and hackers as well? Do you really want us to leave this game? Because that’s exactly what’s going to happen if you don’t start fixing all those problems very soon.
That’s the problem with a no-subscription game. They already got our money, and unless there’s a new expansion that’s all they’re going to get from us, so why would they care about fixing bugs, banning bots,… ? It should be obvious to anyone that this game wasn’t ready yet but I guess they were forced to release it because of MoP.
I am not a puritan, I am not a narrow minded person but I am fully against calling marriage a society institution between same sex people. You can get laid with anyone you want if that is what you like, but same sex relationship can not be officially called marriage. Invent some other word for it.
I was about to reply to this, and not in a very nice way obviously, then I realized that it’s exactly what I was talking about, very different people with very different beliefs and mentalities arguing about same sex union or the definition of marriage. Marriage doesn’t even exist in this game, this is only a suggestion thread. So imagine what it would be like if marriage did exist in GW2, endless and useless discussions on all GW2 forums. Endless and useless because when talking about something as personal as this there’s no way you’re going to change someone else’s mind.
In the previous mmorpg I played we could marry another player. There’s one big problem though, same sex marriage. If it’s not allowed you can be sure that you’re going to see topics about it on every GW forum, asking why it’s forbidden, when will it be allowed,… If it’s allowed you could see some narrow-minded puritans complaining about it, saying how they’re “offended” when they see 2 people of same sex together. One way or another it might lead to massive arguments, which wouldn’t happen if we were all living in a tolerant society of course.
I used to play another MMORPG where you could instantly switch between 2 types of video settings, it was extremely useful. You would have the ones set by the user in Graphics Options, that’s what you’re going to use by default. But you would also have the option to use minimal settings when your FPS are seriously dropping.
So I’m questing/farming/…, there’s not a lot of people around, my FPS are fine using the settings I chose in Graphics Options. Now the dragon is spawned and I want to join the event. Problem, since the area is now crowded with tens of players my FPS are suddenly dropping, to the point where it’s almost unplayable. With my suggestion you would have a icon (or a key), for example in the top left corner with all the other ones, that you could press to instantly switch to minimal settings. This would immediately increase your FPS, the event would be playable. The event is over, I’m going back to my normal occupations, no need for minimal settings anymore so I click on the icon to restore my default settings. 2 different situations, 2 different types of settings.

I think we should be able to hide personal story quests from UI and minimap. I think most people spend a lot of time not doing these, and it just seems unusual to have to have it on your screen 100% of the time. Why is it like this? It seems literally the only way to have it go away is finish the entire storyline.
I totally agree with you, I don’t want to be constantly remembered about my personal storyline. It’s really annoying and as far as I’m concerned it’s useless. Give us the option to remove it, that shouldn’t be difficult to do.
I can confirm for Kalarab, I just reported him for botting. I was farming the trolls in Frostgorge Sound and noticed his strange behaviour. He’s always there, always follows the exact same path, does the same movements, doesn’t answer whispers, even when you threaten to report him if he doesn’t answer. I said in /map chat that everyone should report him, he didn’t reply, not a word. He’s a bot, no doubt about that.
Norn seems like an obvious choice for a warrior, the Viking background fits perfectly. Besides I don’t really like the other races: Charrs are the equivalent of dumb Orcs, Asuras are small, cute and funny so I guess they’re better for a young player or a girl, Sylvaris are way too ugly, Humans are ok but a bit too common. My only regret with my Norn female warrior, I should have picked the smallest available size instead of the standard one.
How about make undergarments dyeable? Currently, they’re limited to default color and that’s boring.
Almost 300 hours of play and I haven’t even see the undergarments of my female character. I haven’t even thought a single time about seeing them. Why do you even care about this? Unless you’re a 12-year-old boy who’s exicted at the idea of playing a toon without his/her armor.
what are you talking about?? even with that level reduction I’m literally destroying any mob I see in <80 zones. And I dont even have to look at my HP when I’m here since I know they can’t hurt me. The difference with players who are leveling is so huge that I’m almost embarrassed to participate to an event.
I’m really amazed by all the inept decisions made by this company since the release of the game. It’s exactly like their goal is
- to make us angry
- to prevent us from having fun
- to give us a good reason to quit
When I leveled there about 3 weeks ago almost all those events were bugged (Gandara server). I was actually surprised when I found 1 that was correctly working. I see that things haven’t improved at all since.

I had the same problem on Gandara a few days ago. I’ve been told in /map to try on another server so that’s what I did. The first 6 servers were bugged as well, it finally worked on the 7th one (piken square). And that’s right, you have to interact with the catapult not the npc. Of course now you’re only allowed to switch server once per day so that solution wouldn’t really work anymore.

Anyway, same as some other people here, I’ve explored the other maps at 100% but I’m not even bothering with Orr because I know how awefully bugged it is. And it’s quite annoying considering it’s supposed to be our end-game zone.
This is a MMORPG, we’re supposed to be able to spend our time the way we like. Being forced to move to another zone because of some dumb anti-farming code is taking away our freedom to play the way we want and like. This is the most kitten thing I’ve ever seen in a MMORPG!
Same problem with my Norn female warrior. I asked in /map if other players were having a similar problem the answer was yes, it happens with all races, both genders.
I’ve been L80 for maybe 10 days now. I have recently started exploring the different maps once again in order to get the 100% achievements. Compared to what it was like when I was leveling I can confirm that all zones are already starting to look rather empty. Like you said I was surprised to see that there are now so few DE’s. While I was looking for some vista or POI I even completed several of those DE’s alone , which is doable with a L80 warrior, because there was no one else around.
Why does it botter you so much and why would it be abusing? The stacks are applied to the player, there’s no reason why he should lose them because he’s switching weapons. Plus they disappear really quickly anyway, you just have to die or use a portal.
