Wait now what your saying is their driving players to the cash shop because they want money aren’t they getting money? This couldn’t have ANYTHING to do with the game being free to play but requires money to be ran or anything could it?

Someone please reassure me online games played by larges amounts of people are 100% free of any operating costs right? Maybe I need to eat some magic food so I can hear the right answer.

If only there was a previous instance of a game that was buy to play which supported millions of players, and implemented an affordable and fair cash shop. If only there were a precedent which has been around for 7+ and still standing today.

Gee-willikers, what game could that be? Certainly it couldn’t be a prequel to this game!

It’s 700 gems for one costume, or $8.75 if you prefer (not $15 as you state), and there may still be some free headgear (other than the wizard hat) available one the event has progressed further.

They force you to buy “x” amount of gems, there is no set amount you can buy sadly. Otherwise I’d be all for it, but again it comes down to the whole "it’s not multiple character (yes you can trade it, but that’s a huge hassle) and as I said, it offers no cosmetic value other than idling in town.

Simple supply and demand. Think prices are unfair or to high? Don’t buy. If you are correct, eventually prices come down (usually temporarily in these types of games to give the “feel” the original price is still legit). If enough people pay out what the commodity is listed at, the price will not come down.

Vote with your wallet.

The problem is that unless they decide to keep these items in the shop year-round than there is no real opportunity to wait until gem prices drop, which they had been steadily, but not by that much. Also if you noticed they took out the Lion’s Arch support so we can no longer get Black Lion Keys from that, what a coincidence they took this out for “restocking” once they released new holiday items from the chests.

Unless you did what I did and yarhar fiddle de de being a highsec pirate is so fun to be! Do what you want cause a highsec pirate is freee; you are a highsec pirate.

highsec pirate master race, and then get zerged and losing everything, I quite literally cried a few times playing EVE out of sadness.

I do see that the price is now 800g, not 9500g. Still a LOT in terms of real-world money, but not so scary.

Honestly I’d pay 800g for it, the extra 400g is worth the time.

This question has been bugging me for awhile now, but mostly since the start of the Holiday events (Halloween). I know that you’re trying to support your Arena Net coffers by offering cash-shop only costumes, and that’s fine, back in Guild Wars 1 I would gladly shell out the $10 for the 2-3 costumes that came in the bundle, heck I could even wear them over my current armor set. Now however we are either forced to pay $12-15 for just ONE costume, that can’t be worn over our armor even, or pay 20g in-game for it. 20g is an entire exotic armor set+weapon, but that’s not the point, it literally has no cosmetic effect other than to stand idly in town or (lol) “costume brawls.” I would’ve definitely bought this year’s costumes if they could be reskinned (or worn) over armor, this was a serious flaw in them this year. Maybe next event try and put in at least two costumes in a bundle, and completely get rid of these “town clothes,” just allow them to be worn over, and then sell the weapons separately for the costume brawls.

Another thing is the festival hats, before we were given these hats just for showing up or doing a specific mini-game within the event, and to me and many of the original GW players, we loved doing this. Now I’m glad you stuck to your original roots for Halloween event, Mad King Thorn was fun as usual (although we don’t have nearly as many emotes), but for Wintersday we have to pay 25 Gems just for the earmuffs skin, not even counting the holiday hat (Santa hat), it’s like a complete 180 in your philosophy Anet.

Now I don’t know if it’s the 15% share-holder interest that Nexon holds on Ncsoft, they might not influence it at all, but I can tell you now that you’ve definitely been selling your players short. Now I know I could just quit the game, could’ve gone in the first month when the game was in pretty rough shape and asked for a refund like many players did (or players just quit altogether), but the truth is I enjoy this game and I still do find Arena Net to have THE BEST player support out of any gaming company I’ve been with. I just wish that you would really revise your decisions that you made, if you’re trying to be one of “the defining MMO’s” or a “WoW-killer” you need to 1UP them, not go down on their level.

There are >500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this. Even then often we are bottle necked by other issues. I’m not going to say we are not working on these things, nor can I say there are things we could have changed but just ran out of time on, but this was a patch that contained ranger improvements and it will not be the last one that does so. Maybe you want more than honesty but that is what I currently have to offer.

What happened to the two months that rangers went untouched? Nothing. I don’t care how many people you have working on staff, the class system is only as good as its’ weakest link, and as of now (and since launch), has been rangers. Do you honestly for a second believe that underwater buffs, hell, underwater combat in general is an important aspect in this game? It’s not, despite what you WANT to be believe.

I believe that EVERY-SINGLE-RANGER player is severely mad at you now due to this one simple fact: you lied to us. Please don’t try and justify the actions of staff not doing something because their time was filled with other classes. If you had simply apologized to us and said “I am sorry for lying to you all, due to time constraints we were not able to fulfill our promise to you and work on the class more.” You honestly overlooked rangers in every aspect of this patch, completely forgetting about us, it’s just simply unfair to us.

We are mad, promises were broken, you yourself stated the classes utilities were useless, and to this day we remain a still broken class. People (ranger players) are just going to simply quit because:
A.) No one in their right mind will take a ranger into these new dungeons, they have nothing to offer groups save Healing Springs and an elite with a ridiculously long CD.
B.) No one wants to level up a new class, not when they have fully exo’d their ranger, putting hundreds of hours into it.
C.) They will not want to stick around for the next two-three months before you actually get a decent patch in.**

**pertaining to C.):
If you only have two people working on this, not to mention the other details you claimed to be working on (that prevented you from fixing this class) in which you stated two months ago would happen (today), this class will not be fixed in the near future. We will be better off making a new class that still remains intact or quitting the game altogether. As of now our 80 exo’d rangers are only good for gathering Orichalcum.

“Poof! Someone called and I am here. We made some ranger changes this patch, but had to go back on them because of risk factor. There are some bugs being fixed and quality of life improvements coming in the next patch, as well as some other significant ranger improvements. I would Literally tell you but I think it would be considered a bit of a spoiler so you will have to be patient.
While we work hard to keep updates going on all professions, not very build us going to contain fixes for everyone due to the nature of software development. One problem with rangers is the lack of build diversity created by a number of sub par utility skills. Many signets, a shout or two, and spirits are all a bit lackluster. That is the first place to expect improvements. Second is trying to improve the feel/ pacing on some weapons.
Ok I can’t type more with tiny phone finger keypad. See you in game!

Thank you for yet again lying to us, seriously I have had it with this BS. Glad to see our “buffs” were soooo amazing! But not, you buff the kitten out of warriors and then leave us in the dust? Time to shelve this class and game soon.

Don’t think like that, there is a reason rangers were nerfed to begin with, it’s because Rapid Fire was basically a death sentence to anyone who was caught in it without dodging/strafing (if you were stunned for example). In the betas I could easily dish out 20k damage with Rapid Fire, from a rooftop, without ever being hit. With a greatsword we could deal about 30k DPS in 10 hits, we WERE, for the lack of a better phrase, overpowered beyond belief.

Therein the problem lies: they overnerfed rangers to the point where their only use is serving as a botters dream class (or an amazing farming class). Currently we have great survivability, but our group play and DPS are very lackluster. No smart group will ever choose a ranger over a warrior, even a warrior 30 levels lower than an 80 ranger has more to offer to a group than us currently. This games’ grind revolves around dungeons and group events, sure we hold up all right in the damage department, but literally the only support we have is our spirits, which are extremely mediocre (bar our elite, which is one of the best healing supports in the game apart from its ridiculous cooldown time), and Healing Spring, which is the best water-field AoE in the game. Even if a ranger was fully decked out in support I would still take a warrior for the DPS and natural survivability, unless of course they were a crappy 5-sig warrior haha.

Arena Net broke this class before the game was released, and then put off its update to the point where we are now the laughingstock of the community, falling behind eleys and even necromancers. If this update doesn’t fix our gut-wrenching problems then honestly there is no point in fooling ourselves to play this class anymore.

and as for this, gw1 was WAY too complex for the majority of the gamer population (which is one thing that i personally loved and miss) but i dont see removing these aspects a bad thing. its not the same game, it’s much bigger and much better and it’s only in its infant stage. so, let it grow just as gw1 did.

You’re joking right? You really must not have played many skill-based MMOs. Look at Aion or World of Warcraft for example, hundreds of skills per profession, each one having a use, each one having a cooldown that may make-or-break a situation. In Guild Wars 2 it’s literally “lol pop my OP skills all at once, they’ll be in back 30 seconds.”

Guild Wars 1 PvP was SUPPOSED to be simplified, it was SUPPOSED to be a casual game. The only thing overly complicated about GW1 was managing your mana pool.

^ What he said. Ive killed many thieves, been killed by them too. Its tough but your best bet is go with GS and LR and traps do wonders on thieves.

Or just go GS w/ Flame trap, QZ, and LR. QZ makes thieves cry.

Yeah pretty annoying. Imagine if someone moved all the NPC’s into the zone area… no one would be able to interact with the npc without zoning.

Admittedly that would be hilarious, it should still be fixed. The Guardians ward spell was originally a means to fix bugged NPC’s.

I’m using a wired connection with low ping (averaging out to around 40~60 while playing GW2) and decent FPS (75-90FPS depending on if I use my fixed rate). This issue, as was stated by Arena Net already is not a latency issue, it is an issue with the pets’ programming itself. There have been numerous attempts at fixing these issues but none of them have succeeded, or were rolled back the very next update.

These issues can really hurt some of the major ranger builds (builds that revolve around pets), and while yes there are other options it still does not excuse the lack of response to these issues.

The games been out for a little over a month, why has this, a class-breaking feature, not been fixed yet? No matter how many times you claim to “fix” them each patch, they never are. Pets are still not using their F2 skills on-command as you stated to fix, they still cannot attack moving targets (move and attack at the same time) making them virtually useless in pvp, and they still are completely random with the mob hate (taking 5-10 seconds to switch targets as soon as F1 is called) and even while F1 is called out they will still attack the same target you are even if you choose for them to attack a different enemy.

Some information would be lovely on when we’re getting these issues fixed, I would love to see a massive update along with the Halloween event as you have usually done in the past Guild Wars events.

For this specific reason it seems that dual-pistol engineers are better for solo/pvp play, dungeons I would have to say grenades are the best however.

Yeah, I love it how you advertise the game as “when it’s ready” yet you have an entire article stating that the pvp content ISN’T ready and the final line of the article saying “less QQ more pew pew.” Honestly that’s a bit unneeded and rude towards the players who waited patiently for the game to be released, and then were upset when a majority of the content (pvp-wise) you stated would be in the game was never implemented.

They [Arena Net] themselves stated in this exact article that they don’t release things until they’re fully complete, so why would they even release the game? Honestly they should’ve just done an OPEN beta (as they did with the original game) that allowed players to reach endgame, or at least mid-game (60) areas. The amount of issues they have in this game are nowhere near their ideal “when it’s ready” concept.

People may claim this launch to have “been the smoothest one they’ve ever seen,” then they’ve clearly not played many games (I think the phrase “babies first MMO” comes to mind here). There are so many issues that could have been fixed before launch if they just allowed us to test it properly. An office of around 30 people cannot possibly find the amount of bugs that HUNDREDS of thousands of people could. The game has taken a drastic hit in active players as of late, especially with the launch of WoW’s latest expansion, due to this simple fact: the game gets boring. There is no endgame content other than gearing up, and let’s face it, you can fully gear a character in exotics in about a week of casually (2-4 hours a day) playing. The “pvp” is lackluster at the moment, they should’ve stuck with the original Guild Wars formula (random arenas, team arenas, HA), this would at least offer some diversity to the format rather than just simply playing “King of the Hill” for ten minutes.

Ranger's Pets not functioning right

If you read the patch notes for 8 or 9 sept (not entirely sure which), you will find that these issues should be resolved now.

- The pet can no longer be ressed by using F
- The pet does it’s F2 skill ‘the moment’ you tell it too.

The other issue, with targetting using F1 i am not sure about, if it’s still a problem i would suggest reporting it as a single issue, esp. if it is only a problem on certain foes…

The patch did nothing, it still doesn’t work half the time. I’ll press it a couple times then stop and the pet will activate it like 3 seconds later, doesn’t exactly help when a giant swings his hammer at you for 3k when I’m trying to get my raven(s)-I use two-blind off.

Hello I don’t know if this is the right forum to post in (correct section) but it has come to my attention after going to each Cathedral (and The Narthex) and then researching on the web (http://dulfy.net/2012/09/08/gw2-templegod-karma-armor-sets/) that there is no exotic karma set for medium armor that provides the power/toughness/vitality base stat. I think this is a serious flaw that you guys need to look at seeing as the next best thing we’ have to settle for is Precision/Vitality/Healing, which would distribute the stats awkwardly if you’re going into a defensive build.

I have noticed that there are multiples of the same leg armor so you could possibly swap one of the vendors leg sets for the pow/tough/vit stat.

I get the same problem, also when fighting large scale fights with many players and noises going off sometimes the sound get completely shut off and this constant pinging noise starts up, it sounds like an alarm.

The Skill Point: Defeat Looah quest, located in Malchor’s Leap, for Jade Quarry is still bugged and it has been since the update last night. People have sent in numerous bug reports since early this morning and it has yet to be fixed leaving many people angry and their maps incomplete. I understand that you all are working on the lower level areas, where a majority of the players are currently, but I please ask that you also treat the end game players with the same sense of urgency.
