Alright, Maestro, fine. You managed to finish AC with a 35 mob and maybe a further 10 % of GW2 players will do the same. What about the other 90 %? AC is already losing players due to the difficulty, I don’t think I need to tell you what will happen to other dungeons when they get harder.

As a player of GW1, WoW and other, less known MMOs, GW2’s post-patch AC dungeon is bull. If I compare the dungeons to WoW, at least you had a difficulty ladder there. You had easier dungeons at the beginning, followed by mediocre to hard ones. Dungeons were fun and basically every player of every skill had something to do in them. If you were more of a noob, you could always do lower level ones and have fun at it – like I said, we don’t all have the time or patience to input 100s of hours into a game to be able to finish a dungeon.

Whereas GW2 is favourizing elitists. You can’t deny that. Dungeons (will) have only one difficulty level – hard, which in the long run will remove GW2 of its playerbase. The only people who will stay are gonna be very experienced players and even they will get tired of the game sooner or later and move on to something new/better.

WoW is popular because it’s not only for elitists, it’s not only for noobs and it’s not only for casual players. It’s got everything for everyone, it’s got areas for casual and experienced players, it’s got dungeons for new and old, good and bad, and that’s what’s kept it going for the past 8 (?) years.

GW2 has a LOT of potential, but it seriously needs to stop favourizing only one type of players. Make something for everyone to enjoy – AC dungeon for new, less experienced players (but still being a challenge to do – pre-patch AC was OK), followed by other dungeons.

Very disappointed.

Not only are there way too many bugs (ghost eater gets stuck, the adds attacking hodgins are invulnerable, burrows get obstructed even though there’s nothing in the way — have the devs actually been TESTING this before making a release!??), but what really p* me off is the difficulty. I’ve finished it pre and post patch, but only with pre-selected groups. There is no way in hell you can do this with a pug team without getting your be-hind kicked at least a dozen of times, even with coordination.

If Anet wants to make this game only for the hardcore no-lifers, by all means. But for god’s sake, label it on the box it’s NOT a game for casual players. Having a 12 hour shift and limited time to play, I have no time (and definitely no desire) to make a bloody PhD on Ascalonian Catacombs to be able to enjoy or even finish it.

AC impossible for PUG's

My experience and thoughts after yesterday’s AC P3.

The dungeons have gotten harder, yes. We were wiped at the spider about 6 times and as much as I tried dodging his poisonous circles, the spider attacks way too often to dodge everything. I dodged his first attack, dodged his second, activated Burning Retreat (dodge backwards, leaving a fiery trail) to dodge his third attack, activated the elite Take Root skill (invincible for 3 seconds while spawning turrets) to dodge his fourth, etc. At some point through the fight I ran out of skills to dodge and, you guessed it, was immobilized and killed in less than 5 seconds.

On our sixth try he wiped all of us except one who somehow managed to defeat him. Ok, moving on to Kholer. He’s not that hard to kill. What’s peeing me off are the random Necro and Mesmer spawns that spawn all of a sudden and deal massive, unbearable AoE damage. Needles to say, after 10 tries we gave up and quit. AC is off limits for me, this is pointless.

So, basically, regular/casual gamers don’t stand a chance in dungeons anymore. Nice going, devs. Oh, and if you need ideas for your next bosses, let me give you a few suggestions. Why not create

- a troll with a 50 second knockdown?
- a bandit that permakills your level 80 character while relieving you of all your gold from the bank?
- a harpy with 50 mil HP and a 2 mil HP regen once his bar hits 99 %?
- a worm that swallows your game client, kicking you from the game and forcing you to purchase another account to continue playing?

I thought games were supposed to be challenging AND fun. And by the looks of the new patch, “fun” is not even remotely associated with GW2’s dungeons.
