The resolution setting is not the problem. I think everyone agrees that its the Ui that causes all this. What we just wanna know now is if this problem is an actual bug or intended. An official response to this would really be helpful by now, people are getting frustrated.
I guess if it was intended we wouldnt get that high FPS by hiding the UI ( I have 20-25 FPS with UI, reaching 90 FPS without) this is a bug for sure..
I had terrible FPS after the patch when I first logged on but it’s always cleared up for me if I change resolutions, for example, I switch it from 1920×1080 to windowed, then switch it back to 1920×1080. It’s important to make sure it actually changes resolution (I can’t remember if you have to hit OK to make it change resolution) but doing that fixes my problem. I don’t know if it’ll help anyone else.
Having the highest setting with 1920×1080 or lowest setting with 1024×768 doesnt change any thing for me … I would like to repeat too, I’ve send 1 ticket the 16th after the patch for FPS drop, I still dont have an answer, I reported from IG too, made several posts on french forum, participated on several posts here, whispered 2 GMs on forum, but nothing to do, 0 official answer…
so i open windows (Win7)task manager meanwhile gw2 open and found some intersting app running backgroud with the words “games” and “UI”, i didnt checked task manager before update so i dont know if this was here before, but i traced the app and is on my gw2 folder Guild Wars 2/bin/, i checked the creation date of the file and its from january 2015 so its not a new app, i probalily never saw it :P, but maybe the problem is related with this app?
also
hide UI: 25-40fps
not hide UI: 13-19
all on low expet render samp, is native, tried subsample it didnt changed a thing,
camera sensi all leftmy old machine (most pple will lmao):
intel T4400 dual core 2.20GHz, 4gb Ram, ATI4500 512mb dedi, win7 32bit
is a toshiba sattelite laptop
I checked on my pc and have the same app in background, I closed it, but the game crashed aswell xD. so yea maybe the problem come from that
Lauree, are you fixing the FPS isue aswell?
Even If I say that they will know im lying so they wont reply xD.
Well actually they have made a topic about the issues with guild, while lot of people cant play at all. we submit a ticket, nobody reply. So yea, I’m pretty sure they dont care
i think they dont give a shi about this problem, Ive sent a ticket about the problem yesterday, they didnt reply yet …
this way didnt fix the problem for me… atm my only way to get back my fps is to hide the UI -.-
Fix the FPS drop issue aswell, seems like nobody care about this bug, we submit a ticket, nobody reply, nobody from anet trying to know more about the bug on the forum, perfect.

I totally agree, this is imo the worst patch ive ever seen in gw2..
I just sent a ticket to support yesterday about that FPS drop, they didnt reply yet… lmao
this patch is an epic fail
Something say me that they will never fix it! xD
Yea I want to play with my UI <.<
oh ok then this way do not fix my problem
I don’t have that powerful machine for gaming, but only got GW2 running fine, I had the FPS issue, relaunched the game and now it’s ok
You mean restarted the game? ( sorry my english is not perfect so I want to be sure to understand well )
I know it seems weird, I’ve never seen a UI eating all our FPS in any games, so I dont know what they did wrong..
I think it’s a scripting problem. the reason I say this is because I was pretty heavy into modding Skyrim and Oblivion before GW2 came out, and oftentimes the biggest performance hits weren’t from textures or meshes, but from bad scripts. See, what would happen is they wouldn’t know how to proceed, so the script would try again… and again… and again, never succeeding because it was written poorly. The end result was that FPS royally tanked as the game tried to process a script something like 300 times per second.
It’s the only explanation I have for why a UI, usually the most stable and least resource intensive part of a game, would cause so many issues.
I see, but, if thats the reason, why some peoples doesnt have any FPS problem ?
@Allisa : our only way to get back our fps right now is to hide the UI, putting the game in high setting or lowest setting doesnt change anything, the problem come from the UI
And I would never buy a 1500$ video card, they just need to fixthe bug
I know it seems weird, I’ve never seen a UI eating all our FPS in any games, so I dont know what they did wrong..
and yea you dont need more than 60FPS to play, so a frame drop from 70 to 60 FPS doesnt change anything… or Im blind.
Yea I imagine but I dont know pve that good so I dont want to say something wrong, anyway they need to fixit asap.
@Harnel : Many people got the same problem due to the patch of yesterday,
as you said if u turn off the UI, you will get back the same FPS as before. ( even more )
I had 65-70 FPS before the patch, 20-25 FPS now with the UI, 60-80 FPS without the UI
So How can a UI take so much FPS ?
They need to fix it asap! I tried to play WvW without UI ( I’m mostly roaming ) and this is SO HARD to play cause at the end you dont even see what u are doing / how many hp left you have/ your ennemy have ect ect… I hope anet will read and fix it.
What’s the UI ?
Well if they cant fix that issue, Im gonna quit guildwars2
Same here, I have an AMD graphic card, and had 65-70 fps before the patch, now i have only 20-25, high setting or low setting doesnt change anything.
I have exactly the same problem and many others ive talked to are in the same situation, before the patch I had 65-70 FPS, Now I have no more than 35 FPS. Running with high or low setting doesnt change anything, I can’t play with 25-35 fps, And I wont play guildwar2 until they fix that bug.
