Thinking you need to use staff when phantasms are up is inflexible. I use scepter for block and confusion. Should I not auto attack during this time?
Uh, considering you CAN’T auto attack while using your confusion and block, I would say that no, you should not auto attack during that time.
Having a second weapon set is not being inflexible. I just mentioned the staff because it’s very common and excellent. You also have the option of the sword, and GS. People are picking the weapon with the least synergy for their build and wondering why the auto attack isn’t that great.
So I’m just suppose to sit there after blocking and casting confusion until I can switch back to staff. Got it.
Scepter/Pistol and Staff is the most synergy for my build… being a condition build. I also happen to use phantasms to combo field confusion.
It sounds like whatever build you are using that this is detrimental to is the inflexible one.

Alrighty, fair enough. I suppose that is one reason that clones should be replaced. But, there are numerous instances where it is detrimental.
I don’t really care if a change is made or not, but it seems to me that there are more mesmer builds that would benefit from it than not.
I mean, clones replacing clones? Fine go to it, get your on death trait. Clones replacing phantasms? I’m not convinced.

I don’t believe replacing a clone activates “on clone death” traits
And I personally use a Scepter condition build that maximizes Illusionary Duelists + Ethereal fields to stack confusion and bleeds. It would be preferable if I didn’t overwrite duelists, and it detracts nothing from any other build. Shatter or otherwise.
Also, a question. I know little about shattering because I don’t do it and I’m not at home to test. But, if you are mid mind wrack and the clones are running to your target and you pop out a new clone and it replaces one… What happens? Does it attempt to shatter or you just wasted one of your shatter clones?

People are bringing that you are CPU bound garbage to explain everything. Do you honestly think in an attempt to get more people playing that don’t have awesome 500 dollar video cards they made it so you need awesome 500 dollar CPUs?
It’s just poorly optimized right now.
I generally have good ping with GW2. But, when I do get a lag spike it doesn’t go away until I log off and back in. Everything else is fine during this time, but for whatever reason when I do get a spike it doesn’t correct itself.
Well sorry to quote myself… but any info anyone can give me on this? It seems a bit different than what others are experiencing. It makes no sense to me how I will consistently lag out indefinitely until I relog the character. It should autocorrect itself…
This is keyboard smashingly infuriating when I have to relog during tourney sPvP because people are skipping all over the place and I die before I can get a spell off…

Thanks so much for the reports everyone! Just know that we haven’t forgotten about you all and we’re still looking into this issue. One thing I would like to note, however, is of the many causes for low performance for players with high end graphics cards is that their PCi-Express GPU is plugged into a 1x|4x slot rather than a 16x slot. For players who have recently upgraded their video cards, we recommend ensuring that the GPU is plugged into the proper PCi-Express slot for maximum performance.
This is a joke, right? I do PC hardware support for a living. There is no such thing as a high-end video card that goes in a 1x or 4x slot. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
A PCIx16 video card cannot physically fit into a smaller slot.
Perhaps you meant to say that some users were using a SLI-compatible PCI-e x16 slot which when used alone (without other SLI cards installed) runs at 8x, and therefore the user should consult their motherboard manual to determine the proper slot to use when using a single video card. This is literally the only situation that could be somewhat similar to what you’re describing.
Also, to clarify, even if a user was using it in a PCI-e x16 slot running at 8x, they would not see the level of performance degradation as reported in this thread. Many SLI systems default the ports to 8x on the secondary or third video card slot anyways, with relatively marginal difference.
In addition, new PCI-e 3.0 slots run much faster than their 2.0 counterparts. So an ‘x8’ speed 3.0 slot is at least as fast as an ‘x16’ 2.0 slot.
I don’t intend to be mean, but this is a tech support forum, perhaps someone with basic PC knowledge should be the one communicating with the users.
I also work in IT… and I find it quite disturbing that you don’t know that on a lot of motherboards there are 16x size PCI-e slots that run at 8x or 4x or 1x no matter if anything else is plugged in other lanes. The denotation 16x/8x/4x always refers to the size of the port, but does not always reflect the link speed due to the physical slot only being wired with the contacts for the lower speed. This has nothing to do with sharing lanes. Refer to your motherboard manual for more info. Kids these days.

The recommend settings are all high, but I play with mostly medium settings for smoother gameplay. There doesn’t seem to be a bottleneck, as neither the CPU or GPU seem to have maxed usage. Although I should note I haven’t tried maxed settings since release.
