Why was the Rare armour graphic changed?

But… if I may. This armour isn’t obsidian. Obsidian armour is pretty much what the Legendaries are; massive investments of time and money, above and beyond everything else.

To use your comparison, dungeon armour is more the equivalent of the 1.5k/15k. Except the 1.5k armour, in this case, does not have a unique and cool skin that serves as a ‘precursor’ to the 15k. It’s a generic, bland, horribly ugly model that is shared across all the different dungeons.

If you’re proposing that they change the skin of the rare gear so that it at least looks unique, then I’d actually be behind that. But as it stands now, either make it back to the way it was, or put something new, you know?

Well, that’s the thing. Even with ‘one piece per run’, you’re still looking at at least 6 runs, with more if you want the weapons or anything else. It’s a good number, since it means you can run each path twice (maybe even less, given that some dungeons have 4 paths rather than 3, but still).

The dungeon isn’t about grinding; that’s what legendaries are for. Think of dungeons like an examination; you need to show you have the skill to do the dungeons. But what does, for example, running those same instances over and over and over again 40 times prove? That you have no life? That your time is valueless? It serves no purpose.

But that’s not even what I’m asking for; I’m willing to put in some time to get them, to show that I can get it done, that I’m a reasonably good player (as much as anyone can be at this point in the game); even the rare set requires 17-18 days of grinding (Using Sorrow’s Embrace as an example, presuming 1 run per day), and the exotic set is almost double that amount.

I’m just wondering why they made such a change literally at the last moment.

And yet, under this system, literally nobody would ever buy the rare. Either way, one set is useless, so you might as well err on the side of the one with the least grinding, no?

My apologies if this topic has been brought up before, but…

During the Beta Weekends, and up even during the stress tests days before pre-launch, the rare armour set from the dungeon vendor had the same graphic as the exotic version. I quite liked this, as (to be perfectly honest) I dislike how ArenaNet pulled the wool over our eyes with the whole ‘one item per run’ lie they gave.

As a guy more interested in looks than stats, my plan was to snag the rare set (Still a heavy investment of time, but not the ludicrous investment the exotic set is) and to give ANet money to transmogrify it up to a level 80 piece of gear. Simple, it nets ANet money, and hey, I don’t have to grind my butt off. Or, at least, not as much.

So why the sudden and inexplicable change, is why I ask. It seems like it would make sense, as now there’s entirely no reason to go for the rare set- ever. For example, if we presume that we do a run every day for 30 tokens (Hypothetical numbers here, given the understandable variation), it would take 17 days or so of straight running to get the full set. A hefty grind for an inefficient rare armour set that you’ll out-level in the grinding of it.

So, if there is any answer to this question, from ArenaNet or from the community, I’d very much like to hear it!

Incomplete running/walking animations?

in Norn

Hello, I’m just making a thread wondering whether other people have run into the similar problem that I have.

See, when humans draw their weapons, they get a unique animation in both running and walking. For example, with humans wielding rifles, they hold it as if… well, as if they were getting ready to use a rifle.

Norn males, from what I can see, just do their regular running animation with their gun gripped in their hand. Nothing special, nothing changed, in fact. I remember from some beta weekends (or was it pre-beta stuff? I can never remember.) that they didn’t always move that way, so I can only presume they either ‘broke’ the animation, or it’s not yet completed.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? It’s not a big problem, by any means, but it’s one of those really bad ‘just bugs me’ kind of problems. I’d very much like it to be fixed, hopefully!
