Alternatively… instead of 1v1v1, how about a ladder with just 1v1?
This would
1) give better representation of a server strength vs another server
2) less 2v1 griefing
3) less objectives to take, hence less stuff to defend which gives lower population servers better chance to fortify
It sounds good in theory but would cripple larger servers. With one EB and only 2 home worlds, you are halving the total population that could be in WvW at any given time.
As long as it isn’t a thief I think you will be fine.
Yayy, IoJ gets SBI next week (Easy farm) and YB!
More zerker zergs PvDing?
The easiest way in my mind to balance everything is to combine servers into “battle groups” (sorry Blizzard for stealing the term and idea). Each battle group consists of one server from the top 6, one from the bottom 6 and 2 from the bottom 12. You then make EB larger and increase the population by whatever percentage you deem reasonable (IE 300% bigger with more keeps and towers, map population has now been tripped) and some “neutral borderlands” that are like mini EBs each the size of a regular BL. To keep things fair and to make sure the gold servers don’t overcrowd the maps you set caps for each of the servers in the group (IE 30% of the population per map is allotted to each server, once that is full the other 10% is up for grabs). If the gold portion becomes queued and bronze population is half of what the cap is, its cap is shrunken a little bit and gold gets the slots. To encourage an equal population on each server, 1/2 the price of transfer between servers in the same battle group to equalize the population a little bit. Since they are all linked together, you now have no reason for guilds to hop from a bronze server to a gold server, it encourages the growth of player skill as they are now able to fight along side gold players and learn from them, it will reduce queues due to the encouraged population balanceand it will get rid of the skill lag. How will it get rid of skill lag you ask? Now that you have gone from 24 worlds to 12 you now have 4 matchups with 5 or 6 maps each, reducing the server’s needed per map (with 5 maps each matchup you are looking at 20 maps and with 6 maps you are looking at 24 maps vs 32 with 8 ) decreasing the amount of sharing overall. Because EB has jumped up in size, stick it on its own server for each matchup. I haven’t noticed any skill lag on battlegrounds, so those work fine and continue to share resources.
Just a few thoughts.
Either boot camp it or run the client, a virtual machine is not suitable for gaming.
If UW gets nerfed, it wouldn’t faze me in the least as I have exactly 0 traits in that entire line.
We already had the toxic condition in WvW, it was caused by the start of S1 and the division it created between casual and hardcore WvW players. If you want to toss it in EB as WvW with training wheels, go right ahead. Just keep the BLs pure to give those that want a hardcore experience a place to roam, zerg or solo.
On lower tier servers, waypoints are a necessary evil, like when there are a whopping 15 people in your BL and you need to defend a keep from a zerg of 30. Will the 15 people get through the gate into inner to get on siege (or build it)? Probably not, maybe 5 will get through. Otherwise, WvW would be dependent more on who has the better coverage instead of being who has the smarter players.
I defend myself at all times, I just don’t initiate conflict in any JP.
Is this really necessary, bp?
Well…they have to relieve the boredom they must be going through in this travesty of a match up. Sweep the map and then suicide on the main keep just to grief an entire server who already has no real reason to show up? Seems like the thing to do.
Is this match up done yet…seriously?
It’s not like it will get any better anytime soon. The hardcoreish WvW players are the only ones making sure our PPT isn’t 0, everyone else on the server is happy running the world boss train and fractals. We need the fairweathers back if we are going to do anything meaningful in WvW for the rest of the season.
FA tends to have 1 dead/empty map.
WvWing isnt all that much of an issue, getting in WvW to join your guild raid is, however.
All NA servers from #5 and down have no queue on one BL map all times of the day except reset night. By ‘no queue’, I mean less than 1 minute wait and usually instantaneous. BG, SoR, JQ and TC cannot say this.
Sorry NSP, you are wholly deceived by that outnumbered buff you receive every once in a while late in the weekdays when your server isn’t playing to win anymore.
IoJ actually lost their outnumbered buff for a while last night. It was crazy, maybe our fairweathers are finally coming out to play?
I am running Magi mixed with knights for armor and gear using ruby orbs and zerker weapons (GS and Hammer) on a 0/10/30/30/0 for a meditation build, everyone around me gets ~150 health per second, rolls heal for a ton and I hit like a small truck. Shouts only work for 5 people and AH stacks HORRIBLY with healing power (almost as bad as regeneration). Crit chance is 60ish , crit damage is almost 80.
Enjoy the PvE content, its what we always wanted…
/sarcasm off
Working as intended. ANET has been meaning to phase out WvW for some time now.
Yep… Right after they implement GvG as an actual way to play the game and they implement guild halls…
I like how one guild managed to cause IOJ to drop from mid-high silver league to the 2nd lowest server. Hilarious!
You underestimate the force of IOJ exodi! Twas actually 4 major guilds, and a few more small roaming type guilds as well. And a few big kitten solo commanders as well, along with members from nearly every guild that did not go.
Anyway, some of us are still here, obviously not playing for points, but still enjoying the farm as DB learned last night in EB.
I think BP found this out in our BL last night as well.
We’ll fight you. just PM me in game some time and I’ll send someone your way.
Like you did for me? I met one of your guys while on my warrior south of the ogre camp, on the hill to Durios when some other members decided to turn a 1v1 into a 3-4 v 1.
IoJ is in a rut atm… we spend more time defending what we have than capping things in eb (even then sometimes our zerg is just too small to do anything). I mean we kind of have to, there are lone periods of time where we just dont have commanders on.
Yeah. WvW can be fun, but not when Anet throws you against two big zerg servers. Opponents near our WvW pop levels for equitable fights would make it a hell of a lot more fun.
Sorry, Anet, this is a fail.
personally I’m having a blast being constantly outnumbered.
1: I’m learning to thief with no consequence to my bank
2: I’m learning to NOT CLICK with my new mouse (Razer Naga), this one though is a little frustrating with my heals before fighting then hand spasms pressing all buttons ahaha
Took me about a week to get use to my naga hex, but now I don’t even think about it. Muscle memory ftw! XD and to the above you seph.
We would have been perfectly fine, core and se wimped out for leagues last minute after saying they were staying. So now we are all left to clean up their mess, they pushed us to silver and then they leave.Yes, we got you to silver league. Then silver league changed to include higher ranked servers. We were excited. Then it once again became a “come save bay CORE! God. Why didn’t you help us with defense? Do you even care ahout IoJ?”
We didn’t want that. I’m sorry if that’s tough to understand. For CORE to continue, we needed to move. That’s it.
Hate us all you want. But please don’t say we wimped out. We pushed hard and then the server died on us. It’s a two way street.
Well, now everyone else just needs to pick up the slack and rebuild IoJ, yet again. Just remember, YOU guys were the ones that were always on, in TS and available. The 2 (maybe 3) times I asked you for help, I always asked if you were available. If not, no sweat, its a game and we will get bay, hills, garrison whatever back. Have fun wherever you transfered, and I hope to spike you one day!
I guess when you gather most of the dedicated WvW people on one server into a guild, and then you leave you tend to kitten people off, get called wimps or sellouts. Especially when you are not a transfer guild but home grown. IoJ is probably kittened for the season unless we can pull what we have left together and get a few wins to inspire the fair-weathers to come back to WvW. Maybe we can get a queue on reset night again. Besides, what are you doing in the IoJ matchup thread, don’t you have your own matchup to worry about?
