i think the problem lies with the player, not the game, when their major issues is “not enough personal gain.”
I beg to differ. With the way the game is currently going (disregarding all the bug filled patchs) there is no incentive once a person gets to level 80 to keep them here. There is no endgame, the dungeons lack any viable reward to warrant the token grind, the dragons (which are supposed to be world bosses) are dull and boring while only needing to zerg it to win, and all the gear at level 80 is pretty much same stats different skins. I would personally like to see some raids, the world bosses changed to at least force some viable tactic to win along with a win/lose time limit, and some gear that’s actually worth grinding for.
Sadly this game couldn’t live up to it’s hype that Anet lead us to believe over the several years of it’s development. Add that with the buggy patch jobs and you have a recipe for failure not to mention the ton of complaint threads that have been surfacing. So with that this game will be shelved until some major changes are made and a sliver of a better future is set.
Ok so it’s been well over a month since the games’ release. Things were great at first with a few bugs here and there and the batch of bad apples (exploiters). The details were great along with the story line (except the ending) and the TP was being tested. And everything seemed to be going fine until anet started patching things.
Now with that said I will put aside my love for the GW series and be serious here. Over the past few weeks the game has gotten progressively worst with each patch. I’m ok with games being buggy in the BEGINNING, but for it to get worse after every patch? This has by far been the worst game I’ve played (since WoW’s vanilla period) ever. Honestly when you hear the word “patch” we expect “Oh they’re fixing something”. Well ok that’s the normal sequence…..until it turns into “WTF???!!!!! they broke more kitten than they fixed!!!!”
Next is the all touted about “Botter/Exploiter issue”. Ok so they have been “actively” implementing programs to deal with exploiters/botters and somewhere posting a list of accounts banned for said reason. Great…good…..why the hell is this same group of botters here in Cursed Shore for the last week that have no doubt been reported HUNDREDS of times yet still remain?
Finally, since I’m expecting alot of fanboy flamers, this is what I’ve summed up from the time I spent on GW2 leveling up two 80s and comparing the experiences from both side by side along with the hundreds of other threads posted by individuals having the same or different issues. Anet I know I’m not the first to say they’re dropping the game and I more than likely won’t be the last but when your worst in terms of everything (except graphical abilities) you need to step back and fix things. Not fix as in “Ok guys let’s fool them into thinking we’re doing something but break it more” I mean actually FIX. And with that I end my rant and await PSOs’ Wizardry Online to come out. PEACE.
In regards to nelopp.6140 I hope your ready for “The Players Strike Back” when Anets next “genius anti-exploit” system they implement fails while screwing fair play gamers over (lets not mention Anet staffs contradicting statements as to why their program is broken). If they’re lucky all they’ll get are posts, at worst they will pretty much slash their final lifeline. After back to back programming flops it’s no wonder people are going to play pandas (shivers). Still I hope a revolution comes and this entire ordeal gets settled fast before Anet becomes the next “Dreamcast”.
The dev’s that have replied to various post on DR here have stated they will NOT be giving out any specifics about the system as they don’t want anyone to… figure it out.
Yes, evidently Anet has finally done something that has never been done in the history of 1s and 0s. They have made the perfect system impervious to prying eyes and enigmatic to anyone without a stopwatch.
Perfect would imply that there is no flaw whatsoever in the system. Well hate to say it but with all the issues people are having with this “Perfect” system it looks more like the biggest flop Anet has ever made. Sure it foils exploiters (for now) from finding shortcuts and whatnot but when they start sacrificing the legit players abilities to run dungeons as fast as they can without exploits and put hidden rules and restrictions in place they’re basically no better than internet gestapos. Then when the exploiters find a loophole in this system Anet will be dumb enough to place even more restrictions sacrificing the games freedom they cared so much about in the beginning and telling us we HAVE to play the game their way to get this item or suffer a time penalty for not conforming. This last patch (regardless of what you fanboys believe) was basically Anet shooting themselves in the foot and making players drop this game to go to another. If Anet has any sense left in their heads they will open up a discussion about what should be on the next patch make a list and let the players vote on what should be patched in. But that’s probably too much of a stretch for them and they will continue to bring the Arena Net name down to the ground until it explodes in one big great final ball of flames and then sputters out of existence.
Ok guys it’s been over a month since the game was released and alot of people are still reporting issues ranging from bugs to new patch issues that seem to give birth to bugs. Having been in development for several years (including beta tests) we’re currently disgusted with some of the current problems that have been plaguing the game since it went live. Especially in the undead areas of Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap, and Cursed Shore where too many events have been bugged and you have failed to address them. No a server restart does NOT serve as a permanent fix only a temp one. (EX. The southern invasion route that’s needed to complete the Temple of Balthazar chain has been bugged FOREVER). And I am fully aware of the fact that some servers come across the same issues and sometimes they deal with different ones. Now instead of worrying about botters and exploiters for a bit how about fixing these issues that are slowly killing the players trust in your abilities (excluding the fanboys hoping to get free things for defending you). Now if need be I will compile any and all complaints and mail it to you in the hopes that you will actually look through it and get to work fixing it. Now for those who THINK I don’t like the game don’t get me wrong I loved GW1 and was glad when news of GW2 came out but my love for the game will not blind me from what’s been one programming blunder after the other.
So with this posted I will welcome any constructive criticism or comments as well as any worthwhile arguments and we can go through the motions and ave a civil convo. For those that just wanna try to flame or troll I will just ignore you like the plague.
Lol MMO where you can’t find a pick-up group? That’s comical. Good luck Anet.
You can find pick-up groups for just about everything in this game. However, PUG’s were never intended to do explorable mode dungeons. Although they can be done, but with usually a lot of frustration, they were never designed with PUG groups in mind. Anet has said this time and time again.
Though you can easily do it with PUGs, given you explain the tactics to them and allow them to take a couple tries to get it down (some faster than others)
That’s very true. ANet said that explorable modes were meant for a coordinated group of individuals. Generally that means a group of friends talking over vent, or something similar, who pay attention to the game.
I’ve been in several groups where I would mark a target and still be the only person fighting it as everyone else picked a different mob. If people actually focus down 1 target at a time the places become a joke, some things are still hard like the airship portion where you’re trying to nuke the dragon spawn but adds just keep spawning. Oddly enough, even though I entered down state a huge number of times, my repair bill at the end was only 1.5s which I made with 1 item drop.
How To: Dungeon Win! –
1. Do NOT go in with a glass cannon spec and/or gear. Make sure you have some survivability. Get some Knight Armor, masterwork will run you 10-20s for a full set and has Power/Pre/Toughness, and pop some Soldier runes in for added toughness/vitality/power. If you are going in with Berserker Armor and a spec with no defensive utilities/traits then expect to die, over and over and over and over and over again and DO NOT come to the forums complaining about how hard the dungeon is!2. Mark targets! Use CTRL + T to mark a target that everyone should focus on. Generally you want to take Ranged out first as they can’t be kited. Use Snares/Stuns to keep melee at bay. If everyone is focusing on an individual mob then fights are going to take FOREVER and you are going to have countless deaths.
3. Revive people that are in downed state asap but do NOT revive people that are dead, unless all the mobs are down. If you see someone drop and you can save them then do so! If there is a huge AoE around them then do NOT attempt to revive them until it is gone. You don’t want to kill yourself trying to save someone else.
4. If you die on a boss do NOT bumrush him by zerging over and over again from a waypoint. If he is almost dead and you can make it in time then, by all means, feel free to do it but if it looks like it’s going to be a wipe try to avoid rez zerging. Regroup, figure out what you did wrong, and start from the beginning.
Those are the 4 basic things you need to know to clear a dungeon with as little pain as possible. If you don’t want to follow those simple tips then I don’t want to see you on the forums, or in game chat, complaining about how hard it is and how many times you died. There are, of course, going to be bugs that need to be reported and tuning changes that need to be done but the majority of the reasons a dungeon is hard is because people want to run in with no survivability and whack anything and everything they see as if no one else was there.
Imo this dungeon or any other is no longer worth doing at all. While i do like the skins of some of the armor and weapons it’s just not worth the headache to get. Your basically telling me to buy a ferrari with the same performance specs as a volvo. This is just a desperate and game killing attempt Anet pulled to stop exploiters when all they really needed to do was tweak the dungeons to fix the exploits and put a lockout timer on it. So well done Anet you have finally slit your own throats and it’s no wonder your losing players to Borderlands 2 which is a console game for crying out loud. Now how about you reverse this patch, fix the exploits in a way that doesn’t screw over EVERYONE and actually get some decent programming staff that can finally fix thesekittenbugs that have been around since headstart.
