Not to mention I’ve virtually never run with a guardian who uses a hammer on any occasion.
That’s.. pretty sad, and if I were you, I’d see it as a sign that I’d need to look for a better guild or build up a better friendlist.
Yah eyeballing stuff is no way to test things, GJ at failing at that. Also Guards don’t need to spam boons, 4 boons is enough to beat 30s build so thats 1 boon a guard has to put up.
We didn’t eyeball stuff we timed it.
Well anyway people who can’t think for themselves and actually try stuff are not worth arguing with.
The fact that it didn’t beat 30/25 despite having all boons is enough for me. If just one extra boon should’ve made that build better, having ALL boons should have done overkill, but overkill it did NOT.
The first phase of the second fight is more of the same. He just hits faster/harder. If you have good guardians that know how to use aegis and people that can dodge phase 1 isn’t bad. As for the other phases I don’t know. They seem doable as well. I never get to try it out since everyone wants to cheese it….though I don’t blame them given the AMAZING!!!!!!! rewards of blues….
Well, considering the fact that.. his melee autoattack deals agony during phase 2 of the end-of-the-run-2nd-archdiviner-encounter I wouldn’t really want to melee that one. You’d have to both avoid ALL of his melee attack AND the flashing AoE agony. That’s.. a lot of dodge. Although it could work with experience and endurance regen food or signet of stamina maybe.

Before joining any sort of P1 farm run.
We tested it by looking at which can kill faster, with a guard in the group. There was little to no difference. And that was by spamming all boons. Points of tactics are much worse with a lesser amount of boons. And there is no decent guard in the world that would spam every single boon in one go in a real world run. You keep stuff for when you need it, you don’t spam it for mr empowered.
Spent hours on this measuring timed differences to avoid having a too small sample influenced by RNG crits.
Now if you believe your “maths” can kill mob faster than, actually killing them, go ahead.
LA became a hellhole of horn spammers and also griefers who are doing something I will not mention (let’s not create more trolls like these.) to make everyone else lag in LA, up to the point of causing game crash, DC or dropping the framerate down to 2 FPS it’s been an issue for two days here in Sanctum of Rall. But it’s the only place that has all three: a mystic forge, a bank and a TP in short running distances (I know about the wvwvw MF but no one should join and take a spot in the queue if they don’t intend to actually do wvwvw.). It’s the one place in the game world we all go to when we’re done after dungeon farming sessions and want to do some TP/put stuff in bank/play the mystic toilet. This needs to change.
I don’t expect anet to do something as nice as letting us blocklist horn spammers and permanently ban the people who abuse macros so instead of that please just give us a couple alternatives to LA. The kids can keep their LA and the rest of us can find some better places to chill out when we’re taking a small break from more intensive game activities. I shouldn’t have to go into the options and turn sound effects down every time I’m in LA and back up every time I do dungeons. If all the major cities of the game had what attracts us to LA (dungeon token vendor, fotm, MF and bank+TP close to each other) it would finally make them actually useful rather than just being something you need for map completion and forget about once you’re done.
Various reasons:
- permanent 12 stacks of might on 5 players, meaning 48 stacks on might not including mine? Yes, that’s good. We’re lucky we have a mesmer? Make that double!
Meh. The duration of these stacks is really low, and only good to use right before you start a fight. You’re doing terrible dps with staff autoattacks and no dps while using Empower during a fight rather than right before. You should never camp the staff. If you’re in a group that has a low amount of might stacking, you’ll be better off using Hammer, fire field and blasting these. You’ll have better dps on yourself and give off might stacks that can last for 20 seconds on a zero boon duration build, or 30 seconds on a boon duration build. While it’s not the optimal dps for the guardian himself it’s the optimal way to both give might stack to a group that doesn’t always hold 25 stacks, while keeping decent damage (blast finisher is worse dps than sticking to auto symbol chain but it sure as hell beats “no dps” from using staff empower and “little dps” from staff auto.).
If you have a lightning hammer ele in the party.. you pretty much guarantee a full 25 stack. Constant. Without even a mes using signet of inspiration.

TA any path really, you just gotta bring reflects for the end boss of f/u. You can easily do up and f/f in 15-20 minutes with a half decent team though. ‘Expert mode’ would be ~10-12mins.
We ran F/U yesterday with 2war/1ele/1guar/1mes in 12 minutes while not having an optimal amount of might stacking at any point. And with two of us (I was part of it :> sorry guys! :P) dropping dead at the fountains of insta death, wasting two minutes there while the group ran up there then back to rez us. F/U expert mode cranked to 11 would take less than 10 minutes. Now that’s a quick path.
Considering how terrible skyrim ran on ps3 at launch I wouldn’t hold my breath for the ps4 edition of TESO.
Half of the players I knew left after the lost shores update. Because of ascended gear, and because they were gw1 players and hated what ascended might do to the game.
The other half left because of the lack of actual content update. Whether some of that half hate ascended or not, we all enjoyed fractals when they were introduced, and all regretted that this game hasn’t seen a worthwhile update like this one since FOTM was released. Months after months, all we are seeing is useless fluff that disappears from the game. Dragon Bash is probably the worst, most useless update to date.
I could count the number of players I’ve known since launch that still keep playing on two hands.
The first half that left at the lost shore updates were unfortunately right. Anet kept introducing more, and time gated it, and barred access to levels of FOTM that go beyond the level of AR you can get (you can’t do lvl 50+) while adding a ranking system in wvwvw tied to your character, not your account, that gives you advantages over other players and that has a huge grindy component.

WvW: Cleric Gear (healing) or PVT/Knights mix.
Dungeons: Cleric Gear, PVT/Knight Mix, or Zerk gear.
As long as your traits setup is good you can do well in dungeons with any of these setups. But never mix gears from different setups, it will just make your build weaker. If you are going one direction, go all the way. (With exception of the pvt/knight mix, as that combination combines into one setup)
PVT/Knight mix as the only good mix? knight armor/weapon + zerker trinkets makes much more sense, you’ll deal better damage, proc a lot of AH and guardians with that set up are already extremely good at surviving in 48 fractals.
I run the same build when I play anchor, otherwise full zerker when the other guard runs anchor.
With cleric’s gear, I haven’t felt like I /need/ AH in anything but WvW. You can hit 50% crit without fury in full clerics by grabbing Right-Hand Strength, and a few other bits.
And lose the group utility like perma protection from hammer, greatsword pull for mob etc? uhm, no. And 50% crit chance without any crit damage..
Right Hand Strength is solely for a dps focused guardian who’s not actually helping his group much by using single handed weapons. For fractals you definitively want ring of warding, protection etc.

Nah, don’t focus purely on AH in that case. Healing dodge rolls etc. are something where cleric would shine even in an AH build. Even though I’d never use cleric, it’s probably still better than PVT if you don’t focus on short term survival.
Well, dodge rolls and virtue of resolve will bring some group heal but if your group is decent what you want in an anchor guardian is staying power for himself, not the rest of the group, and AH brings a lot of sustainability (plus you don’t really want to waste dodge rolls just for the sake of healing during a boss fight, do you? having endu left for dodging the stuff that matters is better. The healing from the roll is just icing on the cake imho in PVE.), sustainability that you won’t get with full cleric and using virtue+dodge roll.
At level 48 fractal I can facetank the ettin while the rest of the group, in full zerker, melee him from behind. Just by using Knight armor, weapon and zerker trinkets. Having the guard facetank him and not moving around too much allows the rest to go full damage without interrupting skills like hundred blades unless they need to dodge the AoE, which makes for a more efficient kill.
AH is imho about the strongest you can get for sustainability while not moving around too much when you are doing this kind of thing. The hammer symbol auto attack chain brings a very strong sustained heal in a melee group, couple that with EM and having everyone inside your shout/virtue range and it’s godly.
Cleric guardian is a bit like shout heal war when it comes to PVE. It’s losing way too much efficiency for the sake of a few heals that are almost never worth it.
So, healing power and all my gear is useless???
Keep your gear. If you enjoy wvwvw it’s decently good for roaming guardians. In PVE ? Not really. If you do like wvwvw rest assured, you didn’t waste gold on that gear. And.. you never know when the meta might change. Anet already made a few tweaks on some skills/heals affected by healing power, it’s not a bad thing to own all type of armor sets. Since guardian is my main I worked on getting all type of various armor stats just for the sake of having it in case something changes.
The globs (particularly at their current price) you’d get from salvaging an armor set are not worth what you might get in the future just by keeping your set in your bank.

The only thing that procs off crit is EM, and that vigor trait that had a 5 second cooleown – and while EM is nice, AH without EM still works. I mean, to be clear, I’m not a huge fan of AH to begin with but it would be better than Battle Presence or PoV for him.
AH is actually very strong with both EM and hammer symbol proccing in a melee group. AH is not very effective without EM and without a group that stays in melee range. Even more so as it’s likely that many party members won’t be in range for your shouts/virtues either.
While AH is not necessary in most dungeons with a good group (I’d still take it for stuff like high lvl FOTM) for a guardian who’s still kinda new to dungeons it’s the best “almost tanking” ability of the game. I don’t think there’s another build or class that can take as much of a beating as a well built AH guardian. PVT and range negates the point of AH. You want to go melee and have some precision.
The extra vitality from PVT is useless if you can’t heal the health you’re losing.
Cleric gear is even worse than PVT though. Healing power barely affects AH so you’re losing precision or vitality for a stat that is nearly useless.

I don’t even get the point of this “explorable”. Waste of developers time. How about you fix some of the more egregious bugs before introducing that kind of “content”. Or maybe do something about the class balance.
We were all wondering why the hell did we even enter this instance after killing the golem and seeing that there was nothing other than that to do.
For casual players this might be fun game, for hardcores not so much.
Funny fact about gw2 is that the casuals still fail despite this game’s dungeon being conceptually easier because they can’t really handle the more twitchy play style either.
When I see even some of the more experienced players stay inside the poison fields from the spider in AC I feel like throwing the towel.
No, I’m asking if there is any way to get a ban on the guy responsible for this.
And also ranting on the lack of a LFG tool, leading to abuse like these. The whole gw2 community relies on a tool where anyone can use anyone else’s name and potentially harass people anonymously. An in game LFG tool would definitively fix this.
My guild leader is currently getting trolled and this is turning into a serious annoyance. Basically, someone is posting on gw2lfg under his name, in the Citadel of Flame subsection for CoF farmers, asking them to whisper him and ping gear, we have a firmly good idea as to who this might be but it doesn’t even seem like we can report the guy to arenanet since the report box doesn’t allow for comments and anet uses things like in game chat logs before they do anything about potential offenders.
Random people keep joining our party and pinging zerk gear for CoF runs while we’re doing stuff like forming a party for FOTM or something else.. it’s getting old.
Another reason why a true in game LFG tool associated to your account/character would trump this easily abused website. Anet, please make it happen.
