HUGE disadvantage for 1 character players...

- You only have to gear up one character. That easily saves you enough cash to switch forever and ever.
- You can simply start alts and level 2 crafts on them. You have the character slots to do this, they can draw all the needed supplies from your bank. After they’re levelled to 400 in 2 crafts, you just let them be until you need to craft something.

Stop complaining, really.

Fight Fire With Fire..Say No to Warriors

It might actually send a message where it’s needed to the Devs to show them we’re tired of the wide spread elitist nonsense, we want groups without issues.

Yes, because nothing sends out a message like doing the exact same thing, except you’re “doing it out of protest”?

If you’re against elitism, you just group with whoever wants to group with you. No strings attached, no complaining. If someone seems to not know what they need to do in a certain dungeon, you explain it to them. No cursing, no name-calling, just working towards your common goal (which is finishing the dungeon).

This is not something the devs have to solve. There will always be a most efficient way to do something, no matter what the devs buff/nerf. This is something the community has to do for themselves.

I’m a warrior main, and you’re all welcome to join any of my parties (yes, that includes you, OP).

Saving your traits

I’d like to have this as well. You should only be able to load in a new trait setup in a city (or in your protected starter area in WvW). Trait builds can be saved, loaded and shared much like the system GW1 has for attributes.

It should automatically subtract the usual fee (3s50c) from your inventory, or they could simply do away with this small fee as it serves no real purpose at all (it’s hardly a gold sink).

Commander Manual, why not buy with Badges?

The idea sounds more than reasonable: for something that’s (mostly) aimed towards WvW, it’s rather odd that you cannot get it with the format’s currency (badges).

Auto Pickup for looting

Yes for WvW, since the focus should be on combat, not paying attention to when a small bag pops up out of no where next to your feet.

No for PvE, since it’s really not that hard to loot a corpse after the fighting.

Ascended extras: what to do?

This seems to be the most recent thread on the subject, so I’ll bump this one.
It’s a shame that there is absolutely no use for undesired ascended rings at this moment. I do not mind the fact that you have to buy the rings you want with pristine relics when RNG does not favour you. However, in the process of acquiring those relics, you do get quite a few rings that do not fit your build/play style.

Possible options:
1) Make them salvageable for 0…7 ecto and 2..3 globs of mist essence (similar to other items which can be salvaged into ecto + basic material)
2) Mystic Forge recipe to forge 3 ascended rings and 1 exotic ring into the ascended equivalent of the exotic ring stats (if available). Offensive or defensive slot is randomly assigned.
3) Mystic forge recipe to forge 4 ascended rings into 5…10 pristine relics.
4) All of the above!

All in all, it would be nice to have some use out of these excess rings.

Earning Gold

Dungeons are a good way to make money, but please refrain from using Magic Find gear. It’s an incredibly selfish way to play this game, and most of your income in dungeons comes from drops that do not factor in your MF (like the money from bosses, and the chest contents).

Running the various ori nodes around the world can also net you a pretty penny. At 3s15 a piece, you earn over 1g a day by collecting all the nodes in Malchors, CS and Frostgorge. Picking up some omnomberries on the way can further increase your profits.

One Time Events - Not International Friendly

It’s a bummer that I didn’t get to participate, and missed out on what seems to be the first worthwhile event (reward-wise). I do not understand the reasoning behind 1-time events, especially since events in Guild Wars lasted for 24h, starting at 3h intervals. That made it available for everyone around the globe. It made more sense.

Anet has made some questionable decisions with GW2 lately, hopefully they’ll improve.

Why do casuals even complain about new tier of gear? It’s not meant for you obviously, but for the addicted/“dedicated”. Or are you saying that you really need to have, whatever is the ‘best’, to be competitive as a casual?

It goes against what has been promised about this game. I’m pretty sure that’s a valid reason to complain, even if it’s not “meant for you” (although I strongly disagree, in my opinion, all content is meant for every player, casual and hardcore alike).

Why would you even want to exclude part of your player base from the content you add to the game?

It isn’t a fallacy. Farm a few nodes in Orr, run a few events, and you have the mats for an exotic. Run a few dungeons and you have an exotic. Be reasonable with your gold and you can buy several before you even hit level 80. How is it a fallacy? Yeah, you aren’t instantly decked in exotics when you turn 80 but with sensible play you can quickly add pieces while doing just about anything.

And how is that a bad thing? They always claimed GW2 would be about doing what you wanted to do to have fun, not do stuff to be able to do the fun stuff later. So having a highest tier armor that can be picked up doing about anything you want at lvl80, seems to fit that idea, no?

Our Studio Design Director Chris Whiteside just posted this:

“So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content."

Adding “progression” with every major expansion = treadmill. You can call it whatever you want: progression, character development, goals … That does not change the fact that it is a gear treadmill.

I’m disappointed, and I cannot see any reason for buffed stats on the new items. Ascended could just as well be a copy of exotic/legendary, outfitted for the new dungeon (with the addition of a “harmless” dungeon-only infusion slot).

I for one CAN see the reason for a buffed stat – to accommodate harder dungeons and make existing dungeons SLIGHTLY easier to do.

If you “need” better stats to do a dungeon, the dungeon is poorly balanced and should be redesigned. There is no need to buff players to do a new dungeon, just debuff the dungeon if it’s really too hard to complete.

Whether or not this game is heading towards a bad direction or not depends entirely players and not the design itself, as none of the new designs are actually game breaking.

If their new choices go directly against everything they’ve said about the game in the years leading up to release, you might say it’s going in a bad direction.

Not so much because it completely ruins the game (I’m pretty sure a lot of people will just keep on playing), but because you’re undermining the trust your own audience has in you. I’m disappointed, and I cannot see any reason for buffed stats on the new items. Ascended could just as well be a copy of exotic/legendary, outfitted for the new dungeon (with the addition of a “harmless” dungeon-only infusion slot).
