HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

I liked the original Guild Wars way better:
“Expansion” is a stand-alone game with a full-game price tag to reflect it. If you add said game to an existing account, you get extra character slots on that account to compensate.

Especially now, since they basically include the original game completely, there should be something extra for existing players paying the same price.

I’m not pre-purchasing, and I’m honestly considering not buying it at all.
It’s steam summer sale atm, I’ll take my €54.99 (price of HoT + an extra character slot), and I’ll go play something else.

Revenant (or ele) and weapon swap

You can’t port if in combat, just asking really how hard to use the same condition check used there to prevent a weapon swap?

Weapon swap already has a “combat check”, since the internal cooldown only applies when you’re swapping in combat. OOC there is no cooldown and you can just swap 24/7.

It would be a nice addition, nothing gamebreaking, since you can simply swap from inventory already…

Can you alt+tab out of guild wars to the desktop? Or do you lose your monitor completely? If you still get an image by alt+tabbing out (which you do, considering you said it is fixed by “restarting Guild Wars”), the problem is not the hardware.

From the support page (https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client):

When I launch Guild Wars 2, the screen goes black but I can still hear the music. Help!

There are a number of different factors that could be causing this issue.
First, eliminate the possibility that your router is causing issues by bypassing the router and connecting directly to your modem via Ethernet cable. If you have a router/modem combo unit, please disable the SPI Firewall setting because this has been known to contribute to black screens.

If this does not resolve the issue for you, another factor to consider is your security software. As a temporary troubleshooting step, please disable any security software to see if it is interfering with the client. If this works to resolve your issue, you may need to configure that software to not block Guild Wars 2 in the future.

Beyond this, if you’re still experiencing the black screen issues, please submit a Technical Support ticket for further assistance.

It’s a fairly common issue, and there’s plenty of google material on it, if you want to try out stuff before contacting support.

It’s a reverse Fear, I don’t really see an issue with it. It just adds diversity.

You can always try to lower your game resolution as a temporary solution. However, if you do plan on playing games for the foreseeable future, it’s time for a hardware upgrade.

In your case, I’d go for a full Mobo-CPU-GPU-RAM refresh. PSU depends on age/quality of your current one, but it’ll most likely be necessary to get a new one. Adding an SSD will greatly increase the actual working speed (start-up, loading times, …).

Only thing ill use my pc on is gw2, lol and fb so 1TB storage will suffice. I redid the build with an i5 4790K and its pretty much similar cost as the i7 build except there’s more room for a slightly better PSU like 100-150w more.

Are you going to overclock? If the answer is no, don’t get a K-series CPU. Seeing as you’re not building your own rig, I doubt you’re looking to venture into overclocking.

More wattage does NOT mean a better PSU. A good PSU means quality components providing a stable power output. A generic 800W PSU can perform worse than a good 600W PSU, and give less usable power output.

As I said before: please link the actual webshop instead of simply copying a list without any information.

Guild Wars 2 is indeed very CPU-heavy, but doesn’t really make use of multiple cores. Therefore, an i7 is a “waste of cash” since you won’t be using the hyperthreading. The Intel i5-4690 runs at 3,9GHz (Turbo), the Intel i7-4790 runs at 4GHz (Turbo). Hardly worth the 75$ price increase.

Could you link us to the webshop you’re planning on using? That way we can have a look what they have to offer.

Keep in mind that GW2 will never be lag-free on ultra in large scale WvW fights. The game engine is simply not optimised for this. I run GW2 on ultra in PvE just fine, but I tone everything down a notch in WvW.

Do Silverwastes chest farms, no need to party up, or actually fight, just go on the LFG tool and find a chest farm map, and follow the big chest farm zerg. If you don’t have any bandit crests or bandit skeleton keys, you’ll need to get those first by doing events in the Silverwastes.

I’m drowning in ascended materials, and everything else you get is a nice bonus.

I’ve said it before, the entire event cycle takes way too long. I did the exact same thing the OP did yesterday after the patch hit, starting in a practically empty map. We did manage to succeed at the breach, and Vinewrath went down in 3 fights (one per boss). The entire cycle from start to Vinewrath kill took around 1h15m. So honestly I don’t blame people for jumping to 60%-80% maps. The first 40 minutes of a Silverwastes map is the most boring, repetitive gameplay you can get. Every fight stays the same, each time you do it: you do the same combat/repair cycle half a dozen times.

Once I have my bioluminescent armor pieces, I’ll most likely never come back …

Selling on the LFG

NoobOnSteroid.7192

Selling a high cost item on the TP costs a lot and is definitely not a “small price” to pay. Like a guild member could not actually afford the 50g (!) TP listing fee to sell a precursor he got from a lucky drop.

I never sit on a lot of cash, so I would be in the same boat in the unlikely event I get a very expensive item.

Let’s take Dawn for example:
Lowest selling offer is 899 gold, highest bid is 790 gold. If I sell at highest bid, I get 671,5 gold, if I undercut the highest selling offer, I can potentially make 763,3 gold. Since I cannot come up with the 44,9 gold needed to make that listing, I try a different approach.

I put on LFG that I’m willing to sell Dawn for 850 gold. I find my buyer, he puts his bid on TP, I sell to the new highest bid, we’re both happy: I make an extra 51 gold, he saves 49 gold.

Risk of getting scammed? None at all. 127,5 gold was paid for this safe service. I wouldn’t call that “a small price”, but it’s still better than losing everything.

Tweakers has a €1000 build in their most recent best-buy-guide. Those components are not set in stone, but they offer a good start. If you’re never going to overclock your CPU for example, there’s no need to get a K series. If you do plan on overclocking, make sure your mobo has a chipset that actually supports it.

I order most of my hardware from Dutch or German webshops: usually, they’re cheaper even with the added shipping.

Assembling your PC is not hard. The most annoying part is usually getting it all to work properly (OS, drivers, …), but even that shouldn’t be a problem for anyone who’s a bit computer savvy.

We don’t want RNG CONTENT.

I’m sure the majority of GW2 players disagrees. There are already posts complaining the end boss fight in this episode is too hard, while it’s a pretty straight-forward boss encounter. I’m fairly sure most players prefer finishing the same easy event 50 times to get the loot they want (on top of a batch of other loot), instead of failing a hard event 19 times before they finally get their loot on the 20th try. Besides, Anet has a very poor history with “hard” mode imo. So I’d rather they stick to their precious RNG and not try to make anything “hard”.

I can somewhat relate. While i finished it on first pass, the “bulbs” in particular is the nightmare tower stalks cranked to 11.

Sometimes i could run right past them and they would not pop. Other times i could be nowhere near them and several would pop. And the brief AOE marker that showed up after they popped showed me nowhere near them.

The bulbs come in duos, and are connected by a vine which acts as tripwire. If you cross that vine, they blow up. Their AoE however does not overlap, so running over the vine in the middle, will make them explode but not damage you. You have to do this to get one of the achievements, if I’m not mistaken.

This fight was quite alright, although I can imagine it’d be rather annoying if you have to wait for Braham’s blue bulbs as stability source. Just bring your own stability skill, speeds things up significantly.

Friendly fire doesn’t exist. Your PC has been bombarded with airstrikes in the Silverwastes since day 1, and never died, why should it be any different in a story instance? But if that doesn’t make you feel better, most of the NPCs had retreated into the armory, which wasn’t hit by the air strike.

The problem is the build-up takes too long. Not everyone has the time to spend one hour doing repetitive events (because honestly, they get seriously boring after a while), just for a shot at an RNG item.

Would be nice if it was altered like this:
- Pact takes all forts for the final event to start. Once a fort is taken, small modrem attacks on that fort sometimes happen, until all forts are taken.
- Final event: Mordrem start attacking all 4 forts, attacks intensify as time pushes on.
- Attacks stop when a pact commander dies, and a fort is lost OR when the assault has been going on for x minutes (somewhere between 5 and 10), at that point the breach opens (which is basically the Mordrem retaking the fort with the big guns).
- If the final event ended because a fort was lost, the event will simply start again once the fort has been retaken.
- After the attacks, the regular quiet phase with labyrinth starts.

Getting supply bulls to a fort repairs gates/walls during the siege, so it’s still worth running them. Merchants in forts no longer cower away, so you can still buy stuff during the final phase (unless the merchant has been killed). That way, cycles are shorter, and the map doesn’t feel like an everlasting event clusterf***.

Unable to salvage Guild Weapons

NoobOnSteroid.7192

I started swapping out equipment on my warrior, and when I wanted to recuperate the (expensive) sigils on my Guild Weapons, I noticed they cannot be salvaged.

The main question here obviously being: why?

Guild Weapons cost 3 gold and 4 to 7 Guild Commendations.
This means you’re limited to earning a maximum of 3 weapons every 2 weeks (if you do all 4 guild missions weekly), while also investing an extra 5 gold for those 3 weapons (since you only earn 4 gold for all 8 missions).

Compare this to the “farming potential” of dungeon weapons, which are salvageable:
Minimum 210 dungeon tokens are required per weapon. If you do all dungeon paths daily, you earn 1302 tokens per week, or 6 weapons. That’s quadruple of what you can get from Guild weapons.

Please make Guild Weapons salvageable.

RNG as a concept: Discuss

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: NoobOnSteroid.7192

NoobOnSteroid.7192

You can invent a lot of different systems, each one more complicated than the previous one, to get an “honest” playing experience. However, keeping the system simple should also be taken into account, even if it was just for the sake of doing away with all manners of wild speculation regarding the actual mechanics.

I like option 2 from the OP best: keep the overall RNG system and it’s positive side (like getting something on the first try), while doing away with the negative side (still not getting something after 100+ tries).

The chance of actually getting an item over X attempts is 1-(1-Y)^X where Y is the chance an item drops for any single attempt.

Given a drop rate of 1%, after 100 attempts, you only have a 63,5% chance of having received the item in these attempts. After 500 attempts, 7 players out of every 1000 will still be working towards that item (probably seriously frustrated by now).

Cutting off “the bottom end” here, requires the game to “remember” how many times you’ve already NOT gotten a certain item. However, doing this can result in a sort of pattern, where you get absolute crap for the first X attempts, and then get some good drops, only for the entire cycle to start again. Not too much excitement there, I’m afraid.

All in all, RNG is needed to keep it “exciting”, but at the same time has the nasty downside of making some people “very lucky” and others “very unlucky”. Doing away with the “very unlucky” part without damaging the rest of the system, is a tricky business.

Your choices are:

1. Same uneven boring matches knowing who is going to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd

2. Random matches which are even more lopsided and STILL knowing who is going to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Chances are, when you have a draw in league points, that i’d be an interesting match-up, especially when that match-up hasn’t happened before. It might be more lopsided, but at least it’ll determine the final rankings of the season more direct. I’d rather have a shot at beating the servers that currently have the same amount of points, than having to hope for them to lose to other servers …

This seems extremely odd since we’re not even getting a chance to deal with our direct league opponents directly.

So please, for the last week of the season, match up the servers with equal points as much as possible and let them duke it out for a win.

I always wonder why a devteam makes promises like “We know that some builds rely on mixing and matching different runes to optimize a given stat, and we don’t want to stop players from doing that”, yet ultimately do just what they promised not to do. Unless of course they think dropping it from +45% to +20% (actually, +15% in 2/2/2 setup), won’t stop people from using it…

Leagues: a problem

in WvW

Posted by: NoobOnSteroid.7192

NoobOnSteroid.7192

There have been enough solution-threads for any and all unfair aspects of WvW. I think it’s safe to say Anet couldn’t care less about “fairness”. I understand Devon’s point of view: a serverwide 24/7 fight can never really be fair, because you can indeed never truly control the amount of people that participate on each side.

What annoys me about this season/league format is that it actually widens the population gap between servers, because of transfers by people in search of better rewards.
Can we blame those players? Not really, if the game is won with mass numbers, gathering in mass numbers can be expected when people want to win. But this leaves a larger part of the servers with a smaller WvW community, prone to getting stomped by any of the newly created, or already established “megaservers”.

Are the fights less fun? No, not really. Although we’re getting stomped in the PPT-wars, the actual groupfights are pretty evened out, as long as you run when a megablob arrives and only engage the smaller (guild)groups.
But they’re not more fun either, so the whole season adds nothing. All it does is nibble away at mid-tier and low-tier communities when people run off chasing shiny rewards.

I’d rather see they have no achievements, except maybe one achievement that counts how many WXP ranks you earn during the season, without awarding AP’s.

That way you can determine at the end of the season who participated (end-of-season reward is awarded to everyone who gained a certain number of WXP ranks during the season), without luring (or “forcing” as some people call it) PvE players into WvW.

Sure that sounds great for you guys that play at the top, but those of us who have clung to the lower ranked servers would get screwed in the rewards no matter what.

I actually play on a server with a 2-digit rank, so it’s false to assume only top server population would complain about this.

While this system isn’t great, it is far better than your proposed idea. Right now servers at least have a chance to fight for a 1st place spot even if they aren’t a top tier server.

I’m sorry, but right now, servers don’t have a chance either. The server who will probably win silver/bronze, is a server that took advantage of free transfers for a massive influx of players. In doing so, they “robbed” the opposing servers of part of their (relatively small) active WvW population.

Maybe we should indeed just do away with seasons to eliminate all the downsides they bring. Any time saved by the devs in this way could be used to fix WvW bugs instead.

Leagues: a problem

WvW will never be “fair”, since one server is bound to have more players/better coverage. However, league play as it is now unbalances the competition even further, which is something that could be avoided.

I hope the devs do care about WvW. I know the format doesn’t receive a lot of love, but not doing something (not organizing seasons in separate leagues) shouldn’t be that hard

Leagues: a problem

No. Then everyone who wants the max tickets tries to cram into that 1 server that wins. Instead of the 3 that win the leagues.

I understand your concern, but I don’t think it’ll be a mass influx of players to the favourite server. You’ll always have bandwagon players, but guilds will not flock to an already overloaded server, since they won’t get enough playtime in with the extreme queues. Besides, the favourite servers will most likely be the highest seeds, making it extremely expensive to migrate towards, even pre-season.

Leagues: a problem

in WvW

Posted by: NoobOnSteroid.7192

NoobOnSteroid.7192

With the start of WvW Season 2, Anet once more divided each region into 3 separate leagues. While I can understand the appeal to give multiple servers a chance to go after a “win”, in practice, it always turns out for the worse.

To give some “old” examples: in Guild Wars tournaments with a league system (Guru cup, RAWR cup), there was always the problem of guilds tanking rating to get into a lower league for an easy win. Even though the prizes were a lot less in the lower leagues, a prize is better than no prize.

Now take this to our current WvW competition, where prizes are equal in both gold, silver and bronze. Therefore, a player on a server winning in gold league, gets the exact same as somebody winning silver. It’s not hard to see how this might end badly in the lower leagues. Not surprisingly, a lot of players/guilds have flocked to a few servers for their “easy win”. And since the format is heavily biased towards coverage, they’ll most likely get that win (or at least a top 3 place).

The result for opposing servers is fairly obvious: crushing match-ups against larger numbers and better coverage, resulting in a big point gap (and some blows to motivation). However, the “winning” server is also at a loss, because the large influx of new players result in large queues, taking away (part of) the fun to be had in one play session.

The solution is simple: one ladder, one league, one season. The swiss-style system will make sure after 2 or 3 weeks, everyone is fighting servers with “equal” power/coverage. Early season server transfers should then focus on strengthening the bottom of the ladder, but the actual outcome of said transfers rarely matter as the swiss format will put servers with equal power together soon enough.

Reward-wise the end-of-season tickets can be grouped:
1st place: 600 tickets, 2nd and 3rd place: 500 tickets, 4th to 6th place: 450 tickets and so on. That way the goal is clear: end as high as possible, and hopefully have a lot of fun doing so.

If you want to give low-ranked servers something to fight for, hand out a weekly match-up reward during the season: a small number of tickets awarded to the server ending first, and a smaller number for 2nd place. Everyone who gained at least X world ranks during that week, gets the prize in the mail (X should not even be that high of a number, 2 or 3 ranks should be enough to “prove” you contributed). That way the low ranked servers still have something to play for, especially since they won’t win as many tickets at the end of the season.

Keep in mind that GW2 is also very CPU-heavy, especially in large scale battles like WvW. So try and pair a good processor to a good graphics card. It won’t be a top-of-the-line product with your budget, but it’ll be able to handle GW2 on high at least.

Do note that for that same budget, you can build a desktop computer that can run GW2 on ultra.

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: NoobOnSteroid.7192

NoobOnSteroid.7192

4,5/10

It might seem a bit harsh, but I’m reluctant to give this Living Story a passing grade, so I won’t.

First of all the story itself was horrible. After a Personal Story that was mediocre at best, Anet really missed out on thé opportunity to give players a story worth experiencing. I never really grasped what made Anet think that Scarlet was well written Nemesis. She mostly acted like a cartoon villain, throwing unbelievable amounts of equipment and personnel to push her “evil secret agenda”, which wasn’t all that secret after all. The Guild Wars universe has a ton of lore which lends itself to excellent storytelling, but apparently Anet simply chooses not to make use of all this. On top of that, players were simply footsoldiers in the wake of a horde of cliché NPCs. I like a good story, and this was definitely not a good story.

Secondly, it sits bad with me that after a year and a half of “living story”, very little has been actually added to the game. Most of it has been lost in the treadmill of biweekly updates, never to return again. This fast-paced schedule is most likely to blame for any rushed/bugridden content that was released to the players. Game updates are great, but updates that are only temporarily available aren’t. They give me a sense of “play it now, or never play it at all”, forcing me to chose between what i’d like to do, and what I won’t be able to do anymore in the near future.

And finally, Anet should simply do away with massive open world events. Sure, leave Tequatl for people that enjoy “epic open world raids”, but don’t continue to add fights that are effectively based on the same core mechanic. Events that require (almost) the entire map population to actively participate, are bad in an open world game.

All in all, I still like playing this game, but I’ll pass for a second season of this type of “Living Story”.

Auto-loot should indeed be just that: auto-loot. Once your inventory is full, it should just show you a message, prompting you to clear your inventory. Once space is available, auto-looting resumes.

It’s a serious pain to loot all the lootbags after a big fight, and I’m sure I’ve missed out on lots of them by simply failing to notice. Just put it straight into my inventory, and let me continue to play without having to gather my loot.

Poll: Is Season 1 a disappointment?

in WvW

Posted by: NoobOnSteroid.7192

NoobOnSteroid.7192

I’ll refrain from typing a wall of text, because no one likes that.

Season 1 was not a failure, but it could use some polish:
1) The amount of rounds in the season is plain odd. Most leagues have 9 servers, which means you face all servers once in 4 rounds (8 opponents, 2 opponents/round). Having 7 rounds means some servers will get it easier than others (some will face the top servers twice, others won’t). 8 rounds would be a better number.

2) The achievements are poorly thought out. It forces people to do stuff they wouldn’t normally do (because they don’t enjoy it?), and it leaves out other jobs that need doing, so players doing those go “unrewarded”. There should be a better way to measure involvement in WvW, for example WXP gained each week, or events completed each week, …

The overall imbalance of WvW is an issue of the format, and has little to do with season or no season. Plenty of “fixes” have been proposed, some bad, some good. Ultimately it’s up to the devs to decide if they’re going to do something with that feedback.

Throw it away: at the rate you’re gathering the material, 250 bricks and 250 dust should be enough of a buffer to accommodate future peaks in your consumption of bricks/dust (for example, when ascended armor gets released). Once you use up part of your stockpile, you’ll easily resupply, because you get a lot of it anyway.

Doubloons - STILL not collectible

Doubloons should be considered a crafting material. After all, they are no different from gemstones: they are used in crafting, but can also be applied directly for a stat boost.

I’d say it is indeed pretty odd to leave them out of it like this.

My thoughts on Ascended/Direction of game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Anet threw their original design philosophy out the window, and there’s little anyone can do about that. Everyone knows it happened, even though the Anet PR reps carefully evade the subject.

I agree that the introduction of yet another gear tier is not high on my list of game updates. I have said it was a bad idea with the introduction of fractals, and I still think the same way today. At the start, last year in August, I was planning on having a couple main-ish characters down the road (depending on what I liked best in PvE, PvP and WvW), not one favourite and a couple of alts. Right now I have abandoned that idea, and I have in fact one main character (my warrior), for PvE.

I stopped playing WvW, and haven’t even touched PvP, mainly because I spend most of my playing time either doing stuff with my guild, or pursuing gear for my warrior. But also because I don’t WvW with my warrior, but with my elementalist. She has full exotic gear, and an ascended amulet (at least laurels is something I have in abundance, for now). I doubt I’ll have the time to gather full ascended equipment for her.

Am I disappointed? Yes, Guild Wars 2 did not live up to be what was promised at the start.
Will I stop playing? No, I still enjoy playing with guildies, slowly progressing towards a “finished” ascended warrior. Besides, I’ve already bought the game, I might as well use it to the fullest.
Will I ever spend a dime in the gem shop? No, I don’t support Anet’s current course of action, and gold to gem conversion is enough to fill all of my gem needs (which is very little).

The new Tequatl O____O

I applaud the new fight, since it sounds like something worth checking out with a guild group. Having a boss drop ascended weapons is a big plus too, hopefully more will follow.

What I am worried about is the presumable need to have a veritable army of players ready to do a coordinated attack. Sounds like a lagfest, but I’ll just wait and check it out next week.

Obsidian Sanctum again?

Everyone within Obsidium Sanctum, 1v1 as equal chances of winning. So mostly ‘griefing’ is out of the picture already, unless the guys is camping you on purpose, and only you.

There are plenty of choke points where even 1v1 would be terribly unfair. I got attacked by a ranger standing on top of the rocks of the chandelier room (just after the dark room). I was pretty much dead by the time I was halfway towards his position. I ducked for cover under the entrance, and then the rest of his guild party swooped in to finish me off (hammer warrior, elementalist and necromancer). At half health versus 4 people, it was hardly a fair fight.

I enjoy WvW, and do it from time to time, either in guild groups, in zergs or roaming solo. But I’d never roam around the JP to kill people. There will always be griefers around looking for easy kills. There’s no need denying that.

Just for the record, I’m not against the achievement. It takes some organization to do, but so do dungeons. So just gather a (large) group, or risk being ganked.

Temporary content. Your thoughts?

in Living World

It’s a pretty easy answer:
worst … idea … ever.

We had a small survey within our guild and pretty much everyone is against the temporary nature of the updates. It severely limits the amount of enjoyment one gets out of an update, if you cannot log sufficient hours within 2 weeks.

I can understand it, from Anet’s point of view: try to get as much players to come back to the game as frequently as possible. However, with pushing it from 1 month to 2 weeks, they might have crossed the line and a lot of people will just give up on it entirely. Especially with the usual summer activity dip due to holidays, a lot of people will miss a lot of content, and they won’t be happy about it.

Holiday events like Halloween or Wintersday should be temporary, but yearly recurring events. All the rest should just be a permanent add-on to the game.

Temporary content is just that: temporary. The fact that they left part of it there to linger doesn’t do anything to the overall feeling you get from the current chain of temporary updates. Once the event is over, people just shift their gaze to the next shiny event.

I’d rather see more permanent content, and less of an “event frenzy”. Events like wintersday, halloween, … were a lot of fun because they felt special. If you paste one event after another, the whole special feeling dissolves rather quickly and you’re stuck with “oh, another event?”-reactions.

Why Map Completion should not include WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

NoobOnSteroid.7192

WvW is an open world PvE-map, since you can use everything you can use in PvE. Thus it is required for 100% map completion.

One tweak that i would support, is randomly assigning the world color at the start of each match-up (instead of the fixed green-blue-red for 1st-2nd-3rd in tier now). This would make exploring the maps easier since some parts are heavily biased towards a certain color.

What is the Molten Jetpack droprate?

in Flame and Frost

NoobOnSteroid.7192

I am against more tokens, because seriously I am drowning in all sorts of tokens and it’s not going to stop.

However, as I usually do in threads like this, I’m a strong advocate of smart RNG with a feedback mechanism. This means that per account, the game will remember the amount of times you have failed to acquire something, and adjust the droprate accordingly (either linear or exponentially).

Example: say your current loot table simply has a 1% droprate for item x. That means the game “rolls” a random number on a 100-sided dice and you get the item when the game rolls 100, and get something else when the game rolls another number.

Now in comes an extra value “Y”, which remembers the amount of times the dice has been rolled for your account. This system is implemented only for the rarest of items, and aimed to increase your chances. The higher your value “Y”, the higher your chances of getting the rare items at the next loot event.

If they would normally implement 30 tokens to get the rare item: to achieve the same thing through smart RNG, your loot table chance should be modified from the original 1% to (1.166^Y)%. This exponential function will reach 100% when Y=30.

The value of Y is of course reset to 0 when you loot said rare item.

HUGE disadvantage for 1 character players...

“Just level crafts on alts and switch when you need them” Yeah, I know that is a possibility and the comments that follow that line of thought have basically completely missed the point I was making… perhaps read the whole post before replying?

I’ve read your post, and gave you my thoughts on your so called HUGE disadvantage.

Let me elaborate: I play my main for roughly 85% of the time, I have one level 80 alt which only accounts for maybe 10%. But I do have all my character slots filled. This is why:
- Character birthdays were pretty cool in GW1, so I immediately created 5 characters when the game launched.
- Bag space is free inventory for stuff you only need once in a blue moon (like excess Ascended rings until they release a use for them besides vendoring).
- These toons can level the 6 other crafting professions, so you can use them when needed.

You are NOT at a disadvantage. You have 5 character slots, you can use them, you can still play your one and only true character for everything. You can just save money by using alts. Just as you can save money by running instead of using way points.

Fight Fire With Fire..Say No to Warriors

From what I’ve experienced from playing through CoF so much (Other dungeons too, but not so much) – when you get a Warrior in your group there tends to be a mix of name calling, cursing or barking orders.

Surely, you increase your chances of attracting performance-minded individuals when you’re running thé top speedclear location in the game (as you stated yourself), but that doesn’t warrant any generalization. Being jaded towards everyone with a specific profession because of a few individuals, doesn’t help anyone. Simply stating before you start the run, that you’re not in it for the speed, should weed out those individuals. It’s a couple of lines of chat, and it could save you all the anguish, without shutting out an entire profession.
