I am in no position to determine what is fun to you, you are 100% correct on this. It is none of my business what you enjoy and I have no right to tell you what you enjoy is wrong or bad. What I am simply trying to say is that Anet has stated that this game is not reward centered and that I don’t see them changing their minds. I could be wrong here, for the sake of your enjoyment I hope I am, but chances are this game will be “unfarmable” for those who enjoy such things.

Loot really doesn’t effect stats that much, so it is really for appearance only. Also, Anet has mentioned several times that this game is fun-centric, not reward-centric. If you are running dungeons all day for the loot, you are doing it wrong. Since you were so kind as to point out the x at the top of the screen for those that disagree with you, might I return the favor. The unsub button for the game is located….. umm wait….there is no sub for this game! You can simply stop playing if you are not enjoying yourself!

I have been very impressed with the way TC has stuck together and kept fighting all week like the scoreboard didn’t exist. I am also pleased to see our commanders and leaders have gleaned a lot from BG that we can use in future battles. I like to think of these matchups as being similar to growing up with a very competitive big brother. Yes, he will kick your kitten every chance he gets and shows no mercy, but when you finally get to fight someone your own size you realize how much you learned from them. Thanks for a good weeks worth of “lessons” BG & FA. Good luck to you in your next round! (just as long as it isn’t against us!)

Best advice at this current time is to just play like the scoreboard doesn’t exist. In this weeks matchup, my server the Tarnished Coast (garnished toast for those in the know) is getting beat pretty resoundingly by Blackgate. That being said, I have had a lot of fun because TC don’t care what the score is, TC come ready to fight every day. We try our best and…gasp…actually learned a lot from BG during the course of the week. If the only thing you focus on is the score, you will not have much fun in a blowout. But, if you look at it as a chance to learn and get better (and hopefully get a more equitable matchup in the future) the fun can still be had.

Edit: I do however agree that ANet has been MORE THAN GENEROUS with the amount of time they have allowed for free transfers. I am almost starting to wonder if ANet is a non-profit organization! They should start charging for transfers and make some money from those who just want to play on the top dog server.

In my opinion, the game lacks longevity

First he says:

“So buyer’s remorse for me.
But that just means that I’m not coming back for the expansion. "

then he says:

“And no, I can’t say that I’m “never going to play again” since I still hope they actually put some endgame content into the game.”

I am sorry, but I think everyone fell for the troll trick here. He can’t be arguing that there is not enough content, then stating that he wouldn’t buy any xpacks (which would provide more content), followed up by saying he never said he wouldn’t buy more content. Obviously this model student has his priorities correct, troll GW2 forums while paying for classes that he won’t allow himself to learn anything in.

Good luck working in the fast food or janitorial services fields.

Ah, I love this game....

I love it because I can tend to my RL most of the day and then log on for 5-6 hours and have so much fun with my guild in WvWvW. I love it because I don’t feel pressured to do anything, yet still have a lot to do.

Exactly! I love this game because it doesn’t require me to treat it like a part time job just to compete. Thanks ANET, now I can “grind” at my RL job, and just play for fun.

Critical Damage vs. Condition Damage

I have been having this same question for a while now and this thread is much appreciated. All the information here has been very helpful. I am not yet lev 80, I have just reached 73 last night. I have been flipping between these two builds (although not properly tested yet since I am not lev 80) and still can not decide. For my playstyle, which is mostly WvWvW and group PVE, I am starting to lean towards the +cond. build. Even though I lack the instant bust of +crit build, I can apply sustaining damage to a group of people at once. Caltrops are an AOE and Death Blossom is as well. Plus, I do have a bit more toughness to get out of the mess alive (maybe 50% of the time!) and can use my area stealth to rez allies.

That being said, the insta-power the +crit build gives is hard to resist. I know there is a sticky thread at the top for posting builds and set-ups, which I have read thoroughly and taken many great ideas from, but I could use more specific advice based on my playstyle. What are some good set-ups for a support role thief?

Why I'm not happy with Loot cap/Diminishing Returns.

OK, so I have seen a lot of threads about the DR system in place in this game. I think the discussion here in this thread has been very positive and proactive in looking for a resolution to this issue. I do however have a few (hopefully not stupid) questions about DR. Is there a thread or post by an ANET rep that details how this system actually works? I ask this because my understanding of this system is based on player reports and not an official response. If anyone can point me in that direction so that I can better inform myself, that would be most appreciated.

Funny, I understood right away what he was trying to say. Of course, I also have a wife, so I can relate to the excitement that the OP was feeling. My “husband mind” quickly ignored the – and realized that this man was in line for a heavenly gaming weekend.

Enjoy it, moments like these are the golden goose of marriage. (JK….just in case :P)

Making Money 101

I think #6 is a very, very good point. Many people forget to include the listing fee when determining if they should sell an item on the TP or to a vendor. I have noticed lately that most blue and green items have now dropped in price on the TP to the same amount that a vendor would give you, except that the listing fee is not included yet. Selling it to a vendor is faster, easier, and often makes you more money.

I can't make any money in this game due to mechanics...

“Let me just state that I spent 3 hours farming today and have nothing to show for it….”

then

“Also, many people will say you need to manage the trade post and work the economy…that sounds like god darn work and I want to play this game for fun, not play wall street with fake money…”

I am just curious, not trying to be rude, but how is farming for 3 hours NOT work yet working the economy IS work? I am pretty sure that nothing in this game should feel like “WORK”

If it does… you are doing it wrong :P

Please ANET, don’t listen to this fool. He is a typical “me, me, me, give me what I want now” child who has walked into McDonalds and is demanding a Whopper. Gee, maybe you should have done your research before dropping $60 on a game that has, and for quite some time, advertised itself as having no gear grind. Yet, here you are demanding one. Seriously, L2read and do some research before wasting your money in the future. Oh…and go back to WoW. :P

Do you expect something new tomorrow?

Well they don’t really need to battle because this game has no sub fee, which is one of the reasons this game is so great. People will go play other games when they release new content and then come back here and play whenever they want. Once the new expansion is played out they’ll come back, and they’ll be back when they need a little break from the new game after playing it for a week straight.

GW2 is not game which requires exclusivity, you can play other games without feeling like you’re loosing out money on the sub fee.

Excellent observation! I like to think of MMO’s as archetypes of women I have dated throughout my life. My first MMO was SWG (don’t judge…) She was a good woman who I had a desperate loyalty to because she was my first. Even after things went south, I found myself sticking by her side long after I should have moved on. Next… SWTOR. She looked like she was going to be a super model; a high priced, expensive girl from a big family with lots of money. Yet after 6 months I realized there was no real substance to her, just fake lashes and bad personality. Now… there is GW2. I came here with no long term expectations, much like a girl you take home from the bar. Yet the more I hang out with her, the more I realize how cool she is. A fun chick who doesn’t require all of my attention or money and has no problem with me hanging out with other girls.

Moral of this story… I like GW2 so far :P

Rollbacks

OK, I’ll take the bait. THIS IS A VIDEO GAME. Please don’t even try to compare a 2 hour roll back in a video game, to football players and the superbowl. It is not like comparing apples to oranges, its like comparing apples to cargo ships. If the 2 hour roll back took away your “hard work,” then I am positive you don’t have a clue what real “hard work” is. IT’S A VIDEO GAME..
