Let me explain:
You have an mmr to put yourself against more or less equal skilled opponents. This so that the game feels furfilling since stomping or getting stomped gets old fast.If you are better then you current mmr (you belong on a better devision) you’ll win more then you lose hence you go up in devision. If you lose more you’re playng below your mmr and go down a devision.
Except your MMR appears to be completely separate from the league system, meaning two Emerald players can have very different MMR:s. The league divisions themselves do not in any way reflect player skill. And of course Anet didn’t even reset the MMR.
It’s just another noob-friendly grind-based system that lets everyone progress.
Well, considering Anet has already mentioned adding more elite specs, I see no reason why it would need to be pay for content
I’m 99% certain they meant that for future expansion packs.
It’s basically impossible to run GW2 fluently on that budget, at least if you’re adamant about getting a laptop. For that money, you’d be better off building a desktop PC. Not sure if that would do either, GW2 doesn’t run that well, even on high-end machines.
Will Anet allow you to be so proud of your partnership with them to allow this opportunity to be recorded on a resume?
Raid testing, on a CV? Really?
Uhm… I don’t mean to be rude, but it basically sounds as if you had some connection issues that you’ve almost superstitiously attributed to the 64-bit client. Also, these two statements kind of conflict:
I noticed none of my internet resources were working properly. I couldn’t go online, iTunes, LoL, anything.
My internet connection appeared fine, too.
How exactly does your internet connection “appear fine” if nothing is working?
Lol, nice try, but free-to-play accounts can’t even whisper people who aren’t mutual friends, and they can’t mail gold or items, so GW2 going F2P should have literally no effect on goldsellers.
Try the 64-bit client.
Wow, someone is either massively underestimating the number of guilds in the game or is completely failing to understand that persistent, open-world guild halls isn’t possible under ANet’s current map system.
I’d say both.
Oh, and let’s top it off with it not really being that well designed a class, which makes it all the more harder to play :P
Do you hold a grudge or something? I mean, fundamentally I agree with you, the class is a bit of a hodgepodge, but man, you’re in like 4-5 threads, two of your own making, hammering in the same message. We get it already.
Sorry, after this, you cant convince me in a 100 years that this is impossible when you have game developers such as WoW & Arch Age who have done it. It can be done.
Uhm, ArcheAge was designed from the start with open-world player housing in mind, and it has persistent servers instead of overflow instances, so I don’t really see what this has to do with GW2.
As to WoW, it doesn’t have anything similar to what you are talking about. Are you referring to the garrison system? Because that is instanced too.
Well I didn’t mean they’re all literally green, but you get the gist of what I’m saying. There are some cool faces and “hairstyles”, but the majority of sylvari are just oddly-colored humans with leaves for hair (in terms of how they look and act). I just feel like ArenaNet could have put more emphasis on the whole “plants posing as humanoids” theme than they did.
I feel like they more resemble humans trying to pose as plants, than plants trying to pose as humans, if that makes any sense at all.
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
Come on, for all intents and purposes, sylvari are just green humans. Green elves, at best. They really could have done more to make them more unique.
Yeah, me too. If it turns you on to watch two girls kiss, then I’d call that a sexual preference of some sort.
It’s somehow more acceptable since female/female relationships don’t count apparently and there are weirdos who even like that sort of thing. If I see two girls kiss my first thought is, “Well there are a couple of ladies who wouldn’t be into me” not “that’s hot.”
Lol, calling people who don’t have the same sexual preferences as you “weirdos”.
The problem is probably that gamers are not that open-minded (maybe cause they are still kids)
Wow, talk about making huge generalizations. No one in this thread has even been against LGBT relationships in the game per se, hell, there are already two very prominent ones. What the majority of people have been protesting against is retconning already established characters just to fill some kind of politically correct quota, or introducing new characters with no other purpose than to be “the gay couple.”
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
Hmm… before he starts to talk about the 2 relationships … he always started with the two words “I believe” … He didn’t say " it has to be made" or something like that… so stop being such a kitten.
In what way was I being “a kitten?” I just stated the facts. Yes, the OP didn’t say it had to be either of those, but with the two examples provided and the quote I mentioned, it is strongly implied that they want the characters to be at least secondary characters pertinent to the story.
But sure, if you want to make assumptions that are contrary to all available evidence, be my guest.
Edit: And now the OP has made clarifications, so this argument is useless.
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
BUT i don’t think jesseii wanted to get a male relationship with the more important characters of the game… but some secondary characters that we could see in a particular area / city.
If you read the original post, that’s clearly not what the OP is suggesting. The examples offered up are Logan+Rytlock and Canach+Laranthir, all of which are fairly important characters. Also, note this quote found in the original post:
“[…] at least one pair of male characters within Guld Wars 2’s story”.
Within Guild Wars 2’s story. That doesn’t sound like some random NPC in a city to me.
this depends on what you believe sex is… i never stated anything sexual in my posts. by your definition of sex, i could breathe too hard while being near a person and we would both be arrested for having sex in public.
Well yeah, homosexual means sexual desire towards a person’s own sex, so it’s kind of hard not to interpret your post that way.
And even if you mean the literal translation of homosexual, “same sex”, well, there already are same sex relationships between males in GW2. You know, friendships, camaraderie. It’s kind of logical to assume that you’re implying you want a male-male sexual relationship in the game.

Well, you gotta remember that most, if not all, of those “18 dungeons” were straight up kitten and/or copies of other dungeons. As to skills, HoT brings almost as many as EotN if you consider both weapon skills and slot skills, maybe even as much or more if you consider traits and new class mechanics (can’t be bothered to make an exact count).
Regarding armor sets, well, it’s understandable that EotN had more of them considering they only really had to fit two templates (human male or human female), as opposed to the various races, body types and armor types in GW2. That said, lack of new armor sets is one of my main complaints with HoT (together with short story and absurd guild hall decoration prices).
Maybe EotN had more content per se, but one should take into account that it was more of a content expansion and didn’t really bring any new features (except Hall of Monuments), whereas HoT is perhaps a bit lighter on content but brings plenty of features (gliding, masteries, guild halls).
All in all, I’ve had more fun in HoT so far, but I do kind of wish it had perhaps one or two more zones, some additional armor sets and a more fleshed out story. For me, how raids, living story and PvP leagues turn out will decide if this is merely a good expansion, or a great expansion.
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
Well I guess that leaves us with 1) the OP is full of kitten, or 2) he’s a god at PvP :p
Hm, guess you’re right. Thought they applied to both.
Actually, yes, Experience Boosters do work in sPvP ( +50% PvP Reward Track Gain ), as well as Birthday Boosters ( +10% PvP Reward Track Gain ) and as far as I know they stack. It’s got to be the new version of the Exp Booster introduced in the August 11 patch, not the discontinued one.
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
Well then I don’t know. I’ve mostly done HoT PvE recently, but the few PvP games I’ve played have been fine. :/
Might be a stupid question, but uhm… are you playing hotjoin?

Chest trains are a rarity, and don’t argue people are too busy doing Maguuma, 50% of the population or more didn’t buy HoT.
Uh, yeah, chest trains are a rarity because it takes like 600 silverwaste shovels to fully upgrade the guild mine, and let’s be real, you have zero clue how many actually bought HoT.
I agree. Flying in WoW isn’t really a system at all, it’s just ground mounts that can travel in every direction. It’s more convenience than fun.
I liked both old icons (engineer and scrapper) more like the new ones. Why is the new scrapper icon a hammer? Wouldn’t a gyro fit much more?
No, it makes perfect sense. Let’s be real, the real reason anyone is going to use Scrapper for is either hammer or the traits. No one likes gyros.
Yeah lol, that might do it.
Uhm, why would anyone want proof? It’s not like it’s hard to get to level 80 within a few minutes.
No chance for Future Elite Specs during HoT

In the future, yes, as in with the next expansion presumably (if there ever is one, I expect there will be if HoT is successful).

The likelihood was always zero. I’ve never seen any indication that there would be additional elite specializations during this expansion, so I don’t even know why you were expecting it in the first place.
I’m not even sure what you’re asking. You bought GW2 a year ago and now you want to buy it again at a lower price? You can’t even buy the base game anymore, only the expansion. Unless you’re asking if there’s a way to buy HoT at a lower price, in which case the answer is no.

1) The mastery system is an entirely new system separate from traits (akin to WvW masteries). This is where most of the new progression will be since they aren’t raising the level cap.
2) Elite specializations give each class 6 new skills, a new trait line, a new weapon and a new mechanic (except for thieves and arguably engineers).
3) You’ll get the new PvP and WvW maps even if you don’t buy HoT
And yeah, it kinda goes without saying that you won’t be able to access the new class/elite specs or the new maps without purchasing the expansion.
Alot of people would use it to stay within the level ranges required to collect certain types of cloth and leather.
Hm, good point, didn’t consider that. But then I never cared much for farming either.
No it’s not possible, and no I doubt it ever will be. Simply because you’d basically be the only person ever to use it.
Scrapper all the way, engineer for life.
I think it looks cool on my charr. Also, it’s nice to have the animation be unique (compared to the old one which just looked like any rifle) so people can tell at a glance which kit is being used. A welcome change in my book.
Good stuff. I need more harp songs now, the instrument is nice but I’m too musically incompetent to come up with my own songs.
… Daligrumpa? Dålig rumpa? As in “bad butt”? Doesn’t really sound very fitting for a Norn, to be honest. :p Tor is a solid choice, though.
Currently leveling a Norn called Eirikr Hakonsson.
And Valior, yes, vilja=“will”, styrka=“strength, confirm” in Swedish. “Viljestark” means someone who is stubborn.
(edited by Pakkazull.6894)
The eyes on this charr face clip through the eyelids at regular intervals. Really easily noticeable if you zoom in and look at it for a few seconds. Only way to solve it as far as I’ve found is to increase eye size and eye width in character creator.
