Really good suggestions i like them all.
The problem is though, these suggestions have been around since early beta. Why the hell havnt anet introduced any of these I really have no idea.
A clear confirmation from the developers of whats been worked on, whats definately not being introduced and whats a maybe would help alot. It does worry me that guild functionality has been overlooked this long. I really doubt simple features would require much dev time and some quality of life improvements would be welcomed outside of a focused guild update.
I understand the lore of guild wars, HOWEVER a lack of guild features in a game called guild wars is STILL a complete joke in itself. Im not even going to mention guild vs guild… Whoops!

Considering droves of players stopped playing dragon ball as soon as they found the exploit (leaving JUST the cheaters playing) i think it was a needed hotfix. Doesnt matter whether it effects wvw at this stage as unlike dragon ball, it hasnt broken wvw.
As iv said in another thread;
If the holograms actually scaled with the amount of people in proximity to them it would not only give us more group content but promote community at the camp spots.
This in my eyes is way better than having them like the gw2 crafting nodes, in which is instanced to each player. That would mean yet another kittening grind for kitten all challenge.
Played once. Really enjoyed it.
Heard in guild chat that there was a cheat involving mango pies.
Not playing again until its fixed. I expect that will be soon>?

15 FireworksIt is time we stop this. I thought maybe south sun would have been a turning point. I will be on the phone with NCSoft tomorrow after work.
LOL. On the phone to NCsoft? You having a bubble mate? give me a break.
Its makes me cringe to see the amount of these threads. DONT BUY THEM AT ALL. BOYCOTT THEM. Its the only way. I thought all the forum heads realised this at southsun?
This is exatly why the holograms need to scale with the amount of players in a certain radius.
trying to farm a few camped spots today was a absolute nightmare. Some might argue they shouldnt be camped – but we were all talking and having fun as a community – it was great.
Until the thing popped and immediately got smashed to pieces by AOE, meaning a few players each time wouldnt even hit the things. That kitten ed people off VERY quickly.
I’m quite happy with the amount of updates in GW2, but I wish more of it was permanent.
We’ve been playing around so far this year with a lot of different concepts to see what works for a living world game, and see what players liked and didn’t like. Based on all of your feedback, you’ll be seeing a greater degree of permanent content built into future living world releases in 2013. And of course, some things you’ve seen before may return again, in its current form but updated like SAB or holiday festivals, or in a new form entirely….
We’ve got a few more updates coming more along the lines of what we’ve done so far in the vein of holiday festivals, but as the year progresses we’re going to layer more permanent changes and content as well with each living world release. I’ll toss a blog post up in a couple of weeks that outlines high level, where we’re taking our living world style updates specifically in the future for more clear transparency once we’ve got it all ironed out.
As always all of your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated, we’ll continue to adapt and grow this strategy and concept as we go. As we’ve said before, we’re trying something very new and different here, and in some ways we’re learning along with all of you how we make a living world style game work.
Thank you for the comment, even if this has come a month or two later than it should have done.
I know you posted a few things around the time of SAB and molten, yet im glad you can finally say thats theres alot more perma stuff coming. Rather than, ‘were just experimenting right now’.
Colin I have to say, you and snowcrash have restored alot of faith about the transparency of your company and its intentions. Please, continue the great work and keep fighting the marketing team tooth and nail. You guys have made a great game and I hate seeing its image tarnished just because you arnt allowed to comment on some topics.
Obviously spoilers are a thing to avoid, but the marketing team needs to realise that devs commenting on future features, especially in simple question and answer format provides a touch that is reminiscent of a pure indie dev, something that is becoming more and more popular within games today.
AGAIN, i will say something quite simple;
If players continue to buy them, Anet will continue to include RNG within their business model.
The only way to stop this is to stop buying them with gems or gold COMPLETELY. Total boycott. That is the only way.
Too many people cry about the RNG when they themselves admit to purchasing them in the hundreds.
As we have heard MULTIPLE times now, the forum heads are a minority and will not be listened to when sales figures means Anet can keep hiring more staff.
There is a silver lining to this however; The money they rake in from this should be making content updates larger and more comprehensive. Once all the niggles from each holiday event and the living story in general is ironed out, itll be interesting to see if anet start pushing the size of each update to keek ahead of other MMOs.
Look at RIFT. Going f2p and recently the most played game on RAPTR’s, the pure size of each update is absolutely astounding (whether its a crap game or not). Also, with wildstar, elder scrolls AND FINALLY archeage (IN THE WEST YES YES YES) round the corner – Guild wars 2 is going to have very clear competition again. Anet needs to start stepping their game up. And quickly.
Seems like the precursor scav hunt theory is a sound one. Well, at least a likeable and optimistic one.
Even better, this is brilliant subtle marketing from anet. They seem to be doing alot of subtle stuff recently, the dev on TC – hints about cantha.
Now of course they will deny all this, just because of potential market crashes and the fact devs love keeping players in the dark to drum up hype. You don’t have to believe him, but the datamining says that it has nothing to do with the precursor hunt.
Link to mined data please?
Coz the one iv seen from reddit suggests something about pirates and aether-blades.
Now let me theorise something;
If they release a scav hunt, I really doubt they will include the precursors already obtainable. I would also doubt that they will craft the same set of legendaries.
Think about the market crashes if they released one. Think about the ability to have multiple sets of legendaries with slightly different status. I think that would be the best way to avoid people crying about their farm/money spent on these precursors, if a system which makes them obtainable without massive amounts of gold hoaring comes out. The guys with the ‘old’ legendaries will be able to pride themselves for that, where as the players who refuse to even work towards one because of the gold involved will love the fact they can now own a legendary – even (ok yes this is generalising) if they are not the same skins as the first generation.
I dunno, maybe i got abit too overexcited by this and have now transformed into mr optimistic again.
EDIT: Ok now with the stuff about the inquest airship and more stuff pointing to aetherblade pirates it seems like these will be tied to that. I eat my words. For now.

The very fact a developer/staff member did this is in itself amazing. Way to give me a bit of faith back. Please do more stuff like this, you can see from reddit thakittens a strong way to interact with the playerbase. Much more personal than a forum.
As for the raiding, heres hoping my ideas of a multi group dungeon might come to fruition, considering how weak guild wars 2 gets above 5 players outside WvW.
That or a epic update to world bosses adding zone wide events requiring mad amounts of players at keys points would be nice as well. Yes as well as instanced content.
Well, im neither a farmer nor a gem buyer so I take a pretty sideline stance on this. I tend to play the game for fun only, collecting materials and gold as I go. Yes it does mean im a poor player, however I try and be a extremely happy one at that.
HOWEVER, what I fail to grasp is why Anet nerfs every open world farming area into the ground yet CoF P1 hasn’t changed since release. They advocate farming gold while restrict farming specific materials.
Now thats kittening ridiculous.
Yes I agree, although I would suggest more and more guild missions.
Hear me out though, because my suggestion would be more guild cataegorys, hopefully including more meaningful content than the current one. Increase the amount of missions available to do within a week so guilds could focus on that.
Personally its not a concern until down the road, I enjoy the open world and game as much as the next guy, however the games in my past that have held my attention the longest usually have me logging on, playing guild content, logging off. Rinse and repeat.
Now if only they could add meaningful sandbox group content into the open world, the whole guild situation outside wvw would be completely sorted and I’d be once again, returned to my love for gw2.
I dont get it, your saying your a very experienced player yet you are struggling with the dungeons?
I personally have found the dungeon content to be the easiest iv ever found in all the MMOs iv ever played through.
Once you get to grips with the games mechanics (ie – dodging and damage mitigation rather than tanking), most encounters are easily facerolled.
Theres a few that require knowledge of the encounter granted, but do you seriously expect to know exactly what to do the first time you play through them???? Wouldnt that consitute a bad/easy mode dungeon?
I think your still in the traditional mindset.
heres a tip; when its your first time in a dungeon, a quick chat message saying ‘first time here would appreciate headsup for diff bosses’ usually isnt met with L2P remarks. Also, try avoiding any groups that advertise themselves as Zerks, speedruns, exp only. Thats where the elitist kittenheads who cant seem to realise this game is different from WoW hang out.
(edited by Parlourbeatflex.5970)
Wow, alot of people biting your head off.
I cant say its a game breaker, but It would be really cool to see a FFAPVP server, but only because theres not really a decent FFAPVP game out there without a subscription.
For me the solution is technically complicated but conceptually simple.
INCREASE MOB AI. Drastically.
1. Give mobs a full set of 10 usable skills, including elite for vets and above
2. Group certain mobs for activation and compliment each other with skills and builds. (example, a player pulls one mob but activates 2-3, each with primary, secondary and tertiary roles, depending on the state of the activated group)
3. Mob combos and clever use of skill fields.
4. Better aggro mechanics, based on active player threat and support potential. Ie, if a player goes down, all mobs who arnt fully aggroed and within certain proximity should focus fire the downed player, simple stuff like that that gives the impression of reactive AI.
Generally up the AI as much as possible. You want mobs acting like players would. Creates a PVE meta and would make trash alot more interesting to fight.
BOSSES MOVEMENT AND POSITIONING. It needs to be clever.
1. Use above rules for bosses aswell, especially encounters with multiple bosses.
2. Give bosses alot of movement potential, make them actively close in and pull out in accordance to skill selection. If a mob heals he should be retreating first, same with support skills. Dont have bosses blindly follow players no matter if the encounter envolves weakening via pulling the boss into something. Bosses should be clever enough that pulling them into that molten lava or electric spike or whatever would actually feel rewarding.
To be honest the bosses are the hardest thing to make interesting mechanically, just because of the lack of a trinity…. However its not impossible.
Thinking about it more. This whole issue is ridiculous.
What is more racist?
A game representing a certain culture as a equal part of the main game with varied and balanced factions that are non racially biased?
OR
Pretending other cultures within humanity don’t exist.
Correct me if Im missing something here, because I cannot for the life of me, see strict Chinese censorship to go as far as demanding their own race to be removed from the game.
Well, another kittening set of RNG skins is annoying. Hopefully there will be ways within game to acquire them BUT i doubt that at this point.
LFG tool sounds great, really dont know why it hasnt been released thus far, as the non hotjoin lfg concept is something that was talked about a lot in the beta – The exact functions being stuff fans suggested years ago. But hey, better late than never i guess.
Skyhammer sounds really interesting, however time will tell whether the secondary objective will just become a boring sideshow with no meta game at all.
I for one have been eyeing up a few MMOs that could now potentially replace GW2 as my main. Wildstar looks amazing, however Im unsure as to certain traditional mechanics will play now I have been pretty spoilt by gw2s take on trading and bank storage, just to name a few of the little things that dont put useless restriction on you as a player.
Firefall is also looking like the twitch MMO to keep your eyes and TESO is shaping a lot better than I predicted it too. Removal of gear restrictions and cooldowns is a breath of fresh air, especially when that system is replaced by a real elder scrolls mechanic. Health, stamina and magicka. Thank god WoW and its traditions are slowly dying, were beginning to see the true modern era of MMOs.
And then theres archeage… Haha a fleeting dream that seems too good to be true and most likely is. Especially if the west never sees it.
What im saying is where as I’d never delete GW2 from my HD, and I would most likely buy every expansion it releases… its in trouble of being sidelined by something that delivers a lot more, a lot better. I guess time will tell.
well thats a good thing right?
People have been crying for more challenging content.
Care to give a detailed rundown on the dungeon? Would be very interested to know what bosses are included etc – just so i can make an assumption on whether another decent bit of content will be axed after a few weeks.
Can anyone actually DL yet? Saw the forum message saying it was live yet I havnt had a build update or download yet….
Am i missing something?
Guardian LF 3 zerk warriors,1 zerk mez CoF p1 pro farm 2hour+.Gear check pm .
Love your friendly neighbourhood “eficient” non-elitist dungeon runner.
Hahahaha because trimming a few seconds off each encounter increases your gold per hour dramatically.
One of my mains is a warrior and I personally would LOVE to see a lockout week (not that would ever happen but hey). Just because im fed up of ‘efficiency’ tards asking for gearchecks everytime. No i dont run full zerk. Why? Because I dont want to thats why. Im a noob then? Oh right yea because I use a toughness/vit build so i have as much up time as possible supporting the group with shouts… Just because i play a more intelligent game rather than zergy zerking… I am a noob. God help the gaming community.
Yea im a little dissapointed with that animation aswell.
Molten pick was sweet, but not good enough to copy paste it onto other equiptment. Whats going to happen for the woodaxe? A mining pick that shoots green stuff out of the ground?
EDIT; for good measure heres a few suggestions for a animation (obviously needs a unique sound effect aswell)
1 – makes a puddle when used
2 – Shoots out little green particles, only once
3 – Creates a water bubble that grows over the plant, and would then compress at the end of the animation
4 – lazer beam – think lightsaber
OR
Have a electric device similar to a strimmer < my personal fav.

I think they are just waiting to sell GW2 in China this year. And Maybe release the expansion next year globaly to maximize their profit.
At least that’s what I think. Probably a better marketing strategy to do so.
This.
My prediction is (crystal ball in hand) once guild wars 2 hits china and the asian market, we will begin to hear details and speculation about an expansion.
Then we will get an official announcement at the end of this year or the start of 2014.
GW1 was.

Rose tinted glasses?
This would be bad only if servers remain stagnant. The prospect of constant unbalanced matchups (since tiers are so far apart in coverage) and no longer being guaranteed to fight the same few rival guilds might eventually encourage “top WvW guilds” to (GASP) transfer off the same few stacked servers and spread out among more servers, which will in the long run result in better matches with more variety.
Under this system the only way to ensure “good fights” every week is to spread out, and not stack to the top like under the old system.
This.
Although anet has to be careful, because the short run might make alot of WvWers too kitten ed off to stick around.
I hope not, because I can genuinely see this working a year down the line.
Edit; Also all though I almost dont dare to mention… This system does give the oppurtunity for a lower tiered world to learn from a world one tier higher (as that would prob be the most common ‘random’ matchup. The worlds worrying about absolute stomping could think of it that way.

WoW lost 1.5 million ppl wis this Majic Asian style. Try and RIP GW2…..
No, WoW lost 1.5 million people with its Pandas and blatant disrespect for Asian culture, not to mention its traditional style gameplay and the fact that most MMO players are getting bored with it.
If cantha is done properly (non cheesey stereotypes about martial arts and pandas) then itd not only please every gw1 player BUT also attract an Asian audience for when the game hits the east.
I agree some parts of the game has let me down in regards to the promises within the manifesto.
Although i still hope on the premise of potential. Quite frankly DE’s are the best type of questing/levelling content iv ever player in a MMO currently.
This in itself is a massive achievement. HOWEVER let me make it clear I dont condone marketing hype unless one day, we get a full map of meta chains that are effected by player controlled variables rather than timers, warring factions that are literally battling for control and boss events that create massive implications for the whole map.
I mean, it is what you once promised anet!?!?
Since GW1 is going to be on automation soon. Does that mean they’ll focus more on GW2 if that was there distraction?
They aren’t really changing much with GW1, it has been mostly on “automation” for quite some time. If they can’t do better than what they are doing now with 300+ employees, adding a few more employees will do nothing but add more chatter to their lunch room.
They have 300+ employees o.O???
The last I heard. They’ve been hiring for a straight year or so now too, so no telling how many more they have picked up.
This is proof enough that the game and the company is doing very well.
As soon as we hear rumours of layoffs (like EVERY other game developer atm) then ill believe the doomsday threads.
Anet have been hiring strongly for a while. Unless they aim to become bankrupt that’s definite proof of financial success.
The fact is you cant even collect data to prove anything anyhow, considering the business model itll take about a year to figure out what players have completely stopped playing AND it doesnt mean those players will never play again.
If populations dwindle and become low for at least a 6 month period, then please by all means cry doomsday.
One thing about farming I personally dont like (and i think its fair to say itd be a pet hate for the developers aswell) – It usually populates one or two events or one or two desolate areas in the game ONLY.
This, while one could argue is a choice that should be left to a player, is kinda unhealthy for the game in the longer run. It creates impressions of a static boring world in which most areas appear as ghost towns. Players ALWAYS seem to pick a type of item to focus on which makes it a focus on gold farming aswell. Vial of powerful blood for example, is something that (if centaur and troll farming was supported) would drive alot of players away from endgame farming any other type of mobs.
Its extremely clear to me that the guild wars 2 world is intended to be something players should explore and feel like no matter where they go, they should be able to get the rewards they want. Its a shame it hasnt worked out that way yet, but with farm spot nerfs (i still believe mass buffs to drop rates globally could come at a later if active player numbers rise dramatically), event balancing and such you can see anet is trying to balance the whole game world.
I would have to agree.
The same goes for a lot of open world mobs (excluding dynamic event content) – That phrase ‘trolls standing about in a field picking daisies’ sums up the majority of mobs behaviour, to the point where when entering a condensed area you can safely pick through a pack by pulling individual mobs.
Some of the AI needs to be drastically improved in my opinion. Skill pools as well, as already mentioned, especially in mid to higher level areas in the game. However what I’d personally think would help is more behaviour mechanics like patrols, aggro mechanics (i mean at the minute aggro extends mostly to closest player), mobs with more CC usage and as a few posters above me have said; THE ABILITY TO WORK TOGETHER. Synergy between a group. I want to see mobs using buffs and debuffs in accordance to their situation, skills that combo players and mobs in which choose a role upon entering combat. Extend this increased mob AI into dungeons and other content and the challenge will feel fair and deep. Synergy, co-ordination and co-operation within groups of players will feel extremely important again.
The only problem with this is the increased difficulty on lesser skilled solo players – and it could potentially make some builds totally non viable within the open world. Solo play is still important after all as even the strongest of communities need some space from time to time.
With no henchmen or heroes (which isnt likely to come to gw2), I can understand why anet have taken the safer option by making most mobs trash. Theres alot of threads already in this forum about how forcing people to group is a bad idea (something iv never agreed with, grouped content should be the primary focus of a massively mutliplayer game).

Eir is fit, but my vote goes to:
http://i.imgur.com/XjPe0Cr.jpg
Lady kasmeer!
If anet let me personally kill lord faren, sweep kasmeer off her feet and make her mine forever, locked up in my home instance making me endless sandwiches and pumping out little sons and daughters, id instantly forget every negative about the game.
She is a piece of fine pixel kitten – But more importantly she hates lord faren as much as i do. That in itself means she beats Eir – The degenerate drunk who forgot she had a son.
Server costs aren’t that much. You can check WoW server costs of blizzard on the internet, google it.
you could try but you’ll never get a true number, why? the costs are so small its basically a footnote under their expenses table in the annual report. Its also so small its grouped together with others costs as well – its that small.
Listening to WoW fanboys defend the constant monthly sub as server costs is so ridiculously stupid it makes me cry.
I’ll also go on to add the gem store is a amazing success, I know of people that budget $200 a month for the gem store. I’m a working adult as are most my friends and dropping $200 a month into a game we enjoy is nothing compared to how we can do the same one night drinking out in town.
When you do the maths and work out that over the last 10 years on average wow has made 60-70 million a month, nothing you can say can defend the income and price reasoning as anything BUT profit.
Completely disagree with anet not being at least partly responsible. Thats like the bullkitten a drug dealer would use to justify his job OR the even bigger bullkitten a weapons manufacturer would spin to look like the innocent party.
Your analogy is flawed because dealing drugs is illegal and gambling is not. You need to know what you’re getting into when you buy a BL chest, and if you can’t control yourself, it is naive to blame the vehicle for your own mistakes. Imagine a person buys a new car that can go 200 MPH, and that he has a need-for-speed, drives 200 MPH, and gets into a wreck because of it. Is it the car manufacturer’s fault for making it capable of doing that, or the driver’s fault for being unable to control himself? According to the law, it is the driver’s fault, and I agree with the ethics of that blame.
Anyway, I’d take ethics again in the local university if I wanted to debate it with others. Good day to you.
Which is why i backed it up with a legal alternative ie – weapons manufacturers. Plus the legality (as grown ups we should all know) has nothing to do with the ethical implications to a global community.
Dealing one kind of drug might be illegal in one country and completely legal in another. It does not change the ethical value of the action.
Also if your going to use that point – Gambling in most countries is illegal for anyone below the age of 18. This game has a rating in which allows under 18s to play, therefore your legality argument holds little ground.
The car one is a good example ill give you that. However iv mentioned multiple times that its not to do with laying complete blame on anet or dealers, or car makers or whatever. Its acknowledging that these things contribute to a larger problem and for the problem to be dealt with, every side of the coin needs to contribute.
Just simple quality of life stuff I STILL cannot believe the devs have not introduced yet.
1. A LFG system
2. Guild functions like last online, welcome message, calender etc etc
3. A build swap system
4. A wardbrode for creating armour sets
5. Customisable hotbars
AND most important for me personally;
Any kind of non combat activity you can progress within. From fishing to couriering. Also any activities that revolve around a open world PVP setting. The job system from silkroad sounds amazing to me (first iv heard of silkroad to be honest). Something that creates the feeling of sandbox endgame.
I miss something that, ironically enough, was in GW1: the ability to simply click on an area and have your character run over there (as well as keeping the current modes of movement control as well, of course).
this is actually the first mmo I’ve played that doesn’t have that
I remember when I started playing WoW for a bit (shortly after I started playing GW1), WoW didn’t have that feature. When WoW eventually added it later on, I specifically thought of GW1’s influence.
Conversely, something I’d hoped that GW1 (and now GW2, for that matter) would use from WoW is the onscreen real-life clock in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. That way, I wouldn’t need to constantly look away from the screen to see what time it is in real-life.
You know you can enable a real world clock in your mini map?
Go to settings and poke about abit.
This is exactly the reason why Anet needs to scrap the PVE server based infastructure and do a channeled mega server similar to gw1.
And underflow system thats been suggested numerous times before would fix this aswell.
ALSO remember they havnt fixed PVE culling yet. which might be exaggerating the issue.
I don’t think RNG chests or what-not or gem store minis are a cheap tactic. They aren’t “preying” on people, they are simply doing what is statistically most profitable in order to maximize their ability to continue to hire and keep themselves churning out great content. It is your money, and you can put your money where your mouth is. I don’t buy RNG chests, but I buy permanent convenience items like the molten pick. I don’t buy RNG chests for skins, I buy skins that are guaranteed and for 600 gems on the store. If you can’t control yourself and buy $400 of gems for RNG chests and don’t get what you want, you need to seek help outside of the game, not blame ANet for your own mistakes.
I applaud their approach, I just hope they don’t forget about people like me. I would’ve spent 1200 gems on a fused weapon skin, but with them locked in RNG chests, I would never get one. I spend my money in accordance with that, and I think it’s the best way we can give ANet feedback.
Completely agree those kind of people need serious help.
Completely disagree with anet not being at least partly responsible. Thats like the bullkitten a drug dealer would use to justify his job OR the even bigger bullkitten a weapons manufacturer would spin to look like the innocent party.
When theres a problem, it needs to be handled at its source. Otherwise your just helping those who are affected and not dealing with the real issue at hand.
Let me make myself clear, in no way would i blame anet for someone buying a ridiculous amount of RNG chests.
However i would take a look at the stragety anet has taken up to be a enabling factor into these peoples addictions.
To use the mcdonalds analogy, yes it ridiculous to get fat and just blame mcdonalds. However its not so ridiculous to ask mcdonalds to calm down on the marketing of such fatty products in order to solve the larger problem.
When mcdonalds got sued by anyone and everyone, theres a reason they launched a healthy eating menu soon after.
Every subscription based MMO was overcharging.
This.
WoW for example charges 10 pound approximately per month per subscriber.
With lets say an average of 10 million plus subs for just a year thats a income of 100 million pounds – MONTHLY.
Now take into consideration they have at least 4-5 years with that kind of sub number or more…
And the inital cost of development (supposedly) was around 60 million.
Now you see how overpriced that game really was.
(edited by Parlourbeatflex.5970)
Rng chests and limited time item deals.
Cheap tactics can net you alot of cash.
Of course, it isnt as cheap as pay2win, so big upps to anet for staying away from that minefield for now.
Yes definately one of the better things in the patch.
karka shells aswell.
So for once i will actually take the time to say, thank you for listening devs
+1.
The more items in the cash shop (which arnt behind a RNG system) the better in my opinion.
If you design models for it (and considering any player that enters the beach part automatically gets put in swimsuits anyway) then all your doing wasting resources and more revenue.
Let the boycott begin!
Was tempted to waste some gold into this, just because i like some of the skins HOWEVER, after reading alot of comments by people who have bought anyway regardless of their hatred for RNG im gonna sacrifice the eye weps in favour of boycott. Hopefully one day, everyone else will follow and the RNG chests can be scrapped.
this isn’t a movie though, it’s a game, we’re actively supposed to be trying to figure out who was behind it and what was happening, and the mystery is the whole POINT, remember when SSC first came out and we were trying to figure out what caused the karka to attack? would it have been as much fun if we’d known it was just a sylvari picking flowers that the karka took offense to?
and F&F, remember how some people were looking for clues during the preludefor hints as to what was happening? would people have still done that if they knew it was the flame legion and the dredge?
games are different to movies, a movie just takes you along for the ride, no matter what you know or want, it’s never going to go off track, in a game, your knowledge will affect your actions
for example, in skyrim when entering markarth for the first time, a lady got murdered. when I replayed a few months later, I positioned myself so that the lady couldn’t get stabbed, and it changed the outcome, first time I was motivated to find more out about the forsworn because “why did they kill that person?” second time I did it because I knew it would lead to loot.
there’s knowing the right way to do something, and there’s experiencing it the first time, don’t people constantly mourn the loss of the times when they entered a dungeon and nobody knew what to do? I saw it all the time in WoW and I see it here as well.
spoilers may not matter in movies, but when you’re involved it’s a different story
And this. Completely agree with you. A game is about exploring in one way or another. Exploration has to travel a progressive path (ie the whole reason we have character progression, the reason why we dont get to jump to endgame upon char creation).
When exploring or interacting with a game narrative, you need mystery and intrigue to give enough reason to keep exploring and interacting to the next step of narrative.
When the dungeon Cananchs lair comes online (or fingers crossed meta chain), im going to faceroll my way through the content without any sense of connection with it and my virtual contribution to its supposed plot point.
I dont understand why some people were complaining at halloween about the lack of spoilers. As someone previously said, mad king was always going to show up, the fact that some people wanted to know how and why should be a good representation that the current narrative is intriguing enough for curiosity. Never have I seen people begging for more spoilers to be a negative and therefore shouldn’t be addressed by the company. I agree you cannot win with people, however I doubt anyone was ever going to be truly annoyed by a lack of spoilers directly from Anet. We are talking about story spoilers here right???
Simple solution to a simple problem. ONLY put achievements in the game if they can be earned. That way no one gets confused or annoyed.
All im saying is if we keep on getting RNG chests then anet better go full throttle and open a in game casino where i can bet gems.
Then i challenge anyone to tyrian poker and ill be laughing when i finally have all these skins.
Edited the title to hopefully bring more player attention to this.
1. Dungeons are not hard. Neither am i 12 years old or gonna tell you to l2p… But seriously… Dungeons are real easy mode.
In fact a large proportion of the playerbase would love to see a hard mode for each dungeon.
2. I agree, message suppressing is lame and never stops gold sellers or spam artists anyway. I also think there should be player 2 player trading, purely because it wouldnt do any harm.
3. Dueling has been discussed SO many times before. The general concensus (and my opinion is) no to open world anywhere dueling, yes to arena/dueling ring.
4. I partly agree with this. Theres been such a mixed history with customer relations already. Some issues the developers will happily comment on and implement what the community is suggesting. HOWEVER, some issues (especially larger ones that would require change in tact or alot of dev time) simply get ignored. The RNG issue for example, is something I dont think iv seen a dev comment on…
If you find a actual quote of this staff member saying that then please link it. I cant really defend someone saying something like that to a customer. The fact is, if someone doesnt like your game, as a developer you should be asking yourself, OK, why doesnt this person like the game and WHAT we CAN DO to change their mind? No matter how stupid the customer is. Customer is always right after all.
I was glad to buy the Wintersday skin. It was Christmas and I wanted to support Anet and I really liked the shield. But RIP to that method. Seems new weapon skins are pure RNG gambling for now on. ;/ I woulda just straight bought the Dagger like I did the Winter Shield but unfortunately I can’t and will never have it. Seems they only want money from the big, heavy spenders who dump 200+ dollars into gambling.
Yeah, Anet didn’t add four new weapon skins to the cash shop for direct purchase just two weeks ago. Oh, wait, they did.
A select few types I don’t use from the F/F NPCs. Wintersday skins were the equivalent of Molten and Living weapons, except Winter ones weren’t shoved into RNG/Gambling boxes, which seems to be how these things will always be now.
So they’re worthless because you don’t like them? What about the people who went “Finally! I’ve been looking for a quiver for my ranger/warrior/thief!”
Just because you didn’t like these skins doesn’t mean that there will never be any others, nor does it mean that the only way to get skins is RNG lottery. In fact they invalidate your statement that “weapon skins are pure RNG gambling” because RIGHT NOW you can buy them direct from the BLTC.
TL:dr Your statements are incorrect.
What are you talking about? Show me the gem store Dagger skin I can buy directly without RNG gambling.
Hes talking about the super weapon skins. All of them are available for a few gold on the TP at the most.
I’m not: I bought Rox’s set straight up. Why? Not only does it look awesome, I knew what I was getting. They completely hide the odds from us. I refuse to gamble when I don’t know the odds, and even then, usually, I refuse to gamble.
This.
Never trust a bookie who wont tell you the odds before placing a bet. Usually, you find thats its massively sided towards the bookies favour.
EDIT: and no, i refuse to buy and support the idea of RNG chests. Anet will be lucky if i even convert some gold for it.
