I lead a guild of 500 players, and not every single one of them plays in WvW, but we still outsiege our opponents. We do fundraising once a week that we use to not only raise money for bp, but for CCs as well. I then take that gold and turn the regular blueprints into Superior bp. I’m paying twice the amount of gold for our weapons and getting way more out of it.

Same thing goes for badges. I spend probably about 300-600 badges a week just on siege. And im not in WvW 24/7. I probably average about 50-90 badges a night. All this is because my guild works well together and my zergs stay organized. We’re not even in the top tiers, we’re gonna be a tier 6 server this week lol. Basic rule of WvW, never go solo. That includes your style of playing with the zerg. Just cause you are with the large number of people running around, doesn’t mean you’re not alone.

I think the problem here is, you need a way to not be going solo. And I actually oppose karma as a currency in wvw for BP. I have almost 500k karma… just imagine how much siege that would be coming from just me. And yes my zergs always have supply. My suggestion is that if you wvw enough, find a wvw guild that is working together and is organized. You won’t be spending tons of money and you’ll be making some pretty good money as well. That being said, I would look to commanders being the ones laying the siege as it is quite a momentum killer when people are throwing down BP that are just sucking up supply.

Im just gonna bump this thing to the top. As a leader of a maxed out guild, we’re seriously struggling to find a way to expand safely. And this thread has a lot of the things that would fix that.

I know Anet has a lot on their plates atm but i can hope for the next month or two right?

I am the leader of a currently 450 man guild on Dragonbrand. We hit 500 on the weekend but mass kicked who we THOUGHT were inactive. However, we had no way of showing who had logged in and was still active. Now this wouldnt be an issue if we had no roster limit. But we do have a limit. So we need one ore the other. No roster limit, or a timer to show how long it has been since a guild member logged in.

Some sort of alliance possibilities, I heard GW1 had something similar to this. A way to merge more than one guild so that we can continue to grow our ranks. (If the roster cap stays in place). Also this would be amazing in WvW. So that smaller guilds could coordinate together, or work with larger guilds as well.

Something to think about. My guild is growing at an amazing rate and people love it. But we’re hitting a wall that is gonna be hard to overcome with the limits placed on guilds atm. Im sure we’re not the only ones

@Crimson I was the commander for the DB force that attacked you guys. The tactic he used is called “Stacking.” and props to you all… I had never seen it before and most of my zerg didnt even speak english I think. It was around 3:30 in the morning when this went down lol. I was beaten by the same tactic in a massive 3 way fight over cliffside the other day in FA.

Won’t be doing that again lol. Now I’ve learned how to counter it and even implement it within my guild. ( [Epic] wave at us if you see us. We’re in WvW A LOT.) Props to you guys. I just couldnt believe we had lost that fight. Sat there shaking my head like kitten #8230; really? lol

While the npc’s shouldnt be spawning in the keep, I was under the impression that the weather nodes could cause lightning strikes that would break the altars?

So there was a site that had like up to the hour rankings and it was awesome. But for whatever reason it’s down and I haven’t seen any posts on it. Im hoping It was legal to view that site… I’d assume so as it doesnt touch or connect to the game in any way. I was wondering if there were any other alternatives to that site, or a formula for figuring out rankings.

There’s a Q to get into DB atm, and i have several guildies that need 100% map completion and they all have to do with the green server side of the maps. So I wanted to know where abouts we’ll be placed so I can let them know they should transfer now to get em and just start waiting in the Q to get back into DB or if i should hold off.

I logged in to see how we were doing at 2:30 AM PST… ended up taking over for another commander until 4:30…

You’re focusing on a window of about 6 hours during the day. but the other 75% of the day I’d say Mag and DB are either close, or DB is ahead. This morning for instance we were crushing mag and a had a sizable advantage per tick on FA. We didnt start to fall off until about 2-3pm PST which is when we know we’re the weakest.

But, when you see DB starting to make a stand or get a foothold in a BL and it’s on the DB side of the map, coming to wipe that out. Doesn’t help you. We’re on a mission to knock out #1. It’s clear you’re not gonna beat FA alone, so if you see DB starting to take stuff outside their spawn point you should be happy knowing its one more distraction for the FA guys on that map. Now im not saying dont fight DB. Im just saying fight when you should, not when it’s just crippling you as well.

For instance: Maguuma BL, and you own the BL… yes target both DB and FA.

FA BL and you see DB pushing their half of the map… maybe push yours and meet in the middle then battle it out? The enemy of my enemy is my ally? At least until we have nothing to fight over then become enemies? lol

Remember: You can’t win in the points if after you’re done taking everything, you’re still getting less points per tick than the leading server. So don’t knock out the ones that are helping you subtract from that point per tick total… Even if they’re helping you for their own gains. Yes, we are your enemies, no im not saying dont fight us, im saying fight when its strategically smart for you to do so.

When in a BL that I want to control, I hope the other server is pushing. It’s harder for that BL to defend themselves. If Im defending DB BL. i LOVE when the two assaulting servers are fighting each other. Easiest thing to beat.

Maguumans need to stop fighting DB and get caught up to FA in points before they start wasting their resources on the 3rd place server. Stop fighting for silver and go for the gold lol. We dont have enough points to move you above FA and I know for a fact we as server are doing our best to focus FA. So if you’re cool with 2nd or 3rd please feel free to keep attacking us, but if you wanna try and win something for the first time in a month or two, let’s hit #1 yeah? cool.

DB – Now you see the almighty power of our fairweather server. Ghost town one week, zergfest the next. I’m not gonna pretend that “we all keep fighting forever” like TC does. Sure we have a whole bunch of people who keep on goin’ when the scores are bad – just not even close to our “winning” zergfest.

Well, one thing I can say is, we will keep fighting I we did all last week. We will this week as well. We have fun winning or losing so to us. It’s just all one big competition. Just sometimes the strategies and objectives change. Gotta work with what we got not try to be what we’re not.

Well after spending the last 6 hours in Maguuma BL fighting to hold on to AB and keeping Maguuma all over the map, imma take a break. Props to FA and Maguuma in there, you guys weren’t lettin up and we weren’t making it easy so nicely done.

no no, you’re confusing out maneuver with outman. You see when FA and DB only have enough players to fill up one borderland at a time, and you can field all 4. That’s where TC gets it advantage. We’ve had several times this week where FA and DB both have proven that tactically and player skill wise, they have an advantage. Even with TC holding 3 orbs, their zergs have been losing battles.

But since neither FA or DB have the WvW population to mount a decent night time presence or even a wide spread presence across all 4 borderlands, TC has just been able to dominate. I’m not complaining btw, I’m waiting patiently until our match reset on Friday. Just saying don’t be giving credit where credit isnt due lol. There’s no “maneuvering” with 50 people and 3 orbs pounding on an unmanned gate lol. Those off hours in the morning are when we get a chance to kinda take some stuff back before the mass zergs get back in from TC. FA and DB deserve the credit for any kind of maneuvering lol. It takes some creative thinking to make progress when you have few people and fewer places to fight from.

Was a hell of a fight in DB borderlands tonight. Seriously I’m exhausted and have a headache lol. TC and FA just wouldnt let up. Nice job on both your guys’ parts.

You’re misinterpreting my point and I suppose I should have been more clear. At the time of this post, I was already done with this week’s matchup. I was simply making a statement for future contests. The math is simple.

let’s say just to make the math easy,
World A: +500
World B: +250
World C: +150

Now don’t get picky with “well that’s not the correct total number of points in a WvW match…” yes Im aware…

So let’s say you do target the lower server rather than the winning server, and you cap all their stuff. the points would look like this:

A: +500
B: +400
C: +0

Now there’s still a 100 point difference in point gain per tick. You’re still losing and now you have to be concerned about not only taking points from World A: but you are FOR SURE gonna be getting attacked by both A and C meaning that you have honestly no hope of catching up in the first place.

Now let’s assume that you decide to not make World C your priority and focus your efforts on A. We can say that World B takes 75 points from World A and World C takes 50 points. The new total looks like this:

World A: 375
World B: 325
World C: 200

Now the gap at which you’re losing to A is only a 50 point gain, that’s half what it was if you wiped out C. Now obviously you’re gonna have conflict between B and C yes… but it can’t be a focus on either of the two. Also, this isn’t something that you will see a whole lot of in undisciplined servers but I’ve seen matchups already that have proven that this not only works, but has allowed servers in both 2nd place or 3rd to come back to win for the week. We lost to BG just last week after having something like a 100k-150k point lead and still lost it cause we were just losing too many of our points and still having to fight off two servers. Like I said the evidence is in the math. Obviously it’s a bit more complicated and harder to implement but it just comes down to how disciplined your server is in WvW. I know it’s something DB needs to work on for sure lol. But when I made my statement it was more of a generalization not me getting upset cause we’re losing this week and I wanted you to go focus somebody else than us. Not at all my intentions lol, I could care less that we lost. We knew it was a loss going into the matchup hahaha.

Anyways, Im excited for the reset today, can’t wait to get out there with a fresh scoreboard.

I would just like to say that no matter what borderlands you’re in. The winning server should always be the target by both the losing servers. Any time you’re capping the 3rd place server’s stuff as the second place server, you’re wasting your resources. If both the bottom servers attacked the main server, the main server is now losing that 500 point lead. Even if its allowing all 3 servers to stay close at least it means everybody has a chance.

This is usually what causes those great matchups and close runs in points. The two losing servers know that their target needs to be the winning server. Chances are they already own the majority of the map in every BL otherwise they wouldnt be winning. And very very seldom does capturing the 3rd place server’s points even out that score. It simply lowers the amount that the 1st server is beating you by per tick. That’s not making progress, that’s just losing slower.

Anyways, just my two cents.

On the topic of WvW commanders for DB, I wanna give a shoutout to Coron, Vexy and Cristyn. I lead my guild into WvW as a guild every weekend for 3 days straight and managing my own 30-40 members that want to wvw can be hectic and Im tired by the end of it. So having that giant blue troll attracting icon is probably a bit of a pain, that being said I’m still working on raising the gold to buy one lol.

But I think these guys deserve some credit especially since we have several commanders that really just have it cause they can, yet, they do nothing for the server. So props to you 3 commanders and I’ve enjoyed working with you guys as an individual and as a guild leader.

That being said, as more and more of our members are hitting 80 and looking for something to do, expect to see [Epic] taking a much larger responsibility in weekly WvW not just weekend. This week has been a pretty good matchup to be honest. Ive really enjoyed the back and forth action between the 3 servers.

I hope matchups continue like this.

Epic Muffins [Epic] is a very large guild with no level or time requirements. We only require that you come with a positive attitude.
