Head butt is so unreliable

Oops you forgot head butt is a melee skill only given a short range since we’re playing a game with game physics.

Would it having 1500 range unblockable while shooting missiles out your behind that kb other players whilst summoning two great swords to defend your sides make you happy?

Finally, somebody is making sense here.

The only thing that surprises me more than your arrogance is that you survived for 17 years, insulting everybody just because they don’t see your point. I salute your “maturity”. One day, you too will arrive in the real world. And then, my child, you will definitely get your butt kicked.

It’s a shame I won’t be around to witness.

Sometimes I really wonder why most “good” gamers always have to behave like humongous kittens. Perhaps social skill and gaming skill are mutually exclusive, who knows.
Anyway, I won’t further waste time on you. Actually, nobody should. We should do what is always done when children exceed their bounds: Ignore them.

One should always play what is the most fun for them without depriving others of theirs. To notice that my own playstyle robs others of their fun, that is the true challenge. If I am told so in a normal, reasonable manner, I will start thinking about it and adapt one day. However, if I am slanged down by “meta pro uber players” with sentences like “l2p” “lol no zerker noob lolz” and " " * just gets kicked *, as a normal reaction I block those “advices”. But that does not happen out of spite, but because the sender is not capable to express himself in a normal way.

If all pro gamers would give advice instead of hating anybody down for not being meta, discussions such as these would never occur. And sentences à la “I am pro, so I must be right. All praise me and never doubt my opinion.” are a good example for failed communication.

Core Warrior Spec for HoT?

I started out with Soldier’s, it was my first set of exotics however, using PTV takes forever to take down enemies.
Generally, I thank you for offering pretty much info on this topic instead of just saying “l2p”. I didn’t ask any guildies because I have not been long enough in a guild to do so. You see, I’m the typical 1-to-2-hours-after-work-and-that’s-it-player. The casualest of casual. So no guild has had the patience thus far to “endure” me for a longer period. But that is indeed a very good hint, tutoring. As I just signed up with a guild containing mainly casuals, I hope that I get the chance of being tutored.

But as a small side note, yesterday I dropped DEF for STR (so right not I’m running STR, DISC, BER) and while of cause becoming somewhat more squishy, I only died twice. All the while I noticed that mobs die around 20%-30% faster (each of my attacks takes a 20-30% bigger portion of hp when compared to running with DEF). So from now on, it’s indeed l2p or rather getting better at playing

Core Warrior Spec for HoT?

blood reckoning is not available for the core warrior. idk, maybe u dont dodge properly? cuz heal signet is more than capable to keep u alive in all pve content, or maybe u got used to rely on AH as u said and got a little bit lazy and dont pay much attention on your surroundings and mobs.

if somehow u have the berserker spec unlocked, man, u will destroy 50% of HOT mobs by 1 arc divider. i personally gather mobs in clusters and go like >>head but >>arc divider>>blood reckoning>>arc divider>>100b>>arc divider, or start with 100b to might stack first, that way nothing remains alive near you.

I guess, practice makes perfect so all I need to do is dismiss Def line and hone my skills.
I already run berserker traitline (it is in fact the only thing keeping me alive, I suppose).
But I’ll just give it a twirl and see what happens.

Condi will take a bit or two to ramp up and if your dying already going condi may make things feel hopeless. I’m not sure why and want to ask, what made you choose the defense line over gear? I mean, if you’re finding the HoT maps crazy tough and you are getting killed you would probably benefit more from changing gear. I’m not sure what’s going on and short of running around with you I don’t want to speculate. So, forgive my question if it sounds pointless.

It’s a good question indeed. It never struck me to be more beneficial (because more expensive) to simply change gear. I always thought that’s what changeable traits are for I run a mix-n-match with mainly berserker, assassins and valk. But I plan to change to marauders as it seems to me to be berserker+valk… Is marauder a viable option?

Finally some constructive discussion! Thank you for your input, guys!

revox, while I do see your train of thought, it focuses mainly on dps, but what about sustain?

I tried blood reckoning, but my outgoing damage is seemingly too low to do sufficient healing. While healing signet is the go-to in non-HoT play, it’s really fast out-dpsd by anything HoT has to offer. I could only think of Defiant Stance, although it is pretty much win or lose. Somehow I rely too heavily on AH

Anyway, thanks for the input, guys maybe I’ll try a sword/shield condi warrior. What is it like to play? I imagine stacking bleeding ad infinite and then waiting.

I don’t care if he asked strength or arms. The right answer is use both. Defense in pve is terrible and you should l2p instead of using it.

Just lol. “Is it A or B” – “42”.

Here are your 5 dollars, zerker fanboy. If you can’t answer my question, go and brag somewhere else and leave this thread to sensible and constructive discussion.
Thank you.

Edit: To make this more worthwhile, why don’t you go ahead and tell us what your sustain is when being swarmed by 10 HoT mobs? You have two dodges, one heal and some stances, now go ahead. I am toast without AH, so enlighten me.

Core Warrior Spec for HoT?

in Warrior

Plautze.6290

Hey guys!

There probly already is such a topic or the build can be found somewhere, but I’ll ask anyway:

Is there a viable GS/x build for core warriors playing HoT? I would suggest Def (mainly for AH), Disc (mainly for all the adrenaline gain plus burst mastery) and… here I can’t decide if I should pick Str or Arms. Strength has berserkers power, forceful GS aso, but Arms has signet mastery which reads quite nice. In messy fights such as in HoT, there is always some enemy bound to be below the threshold, so there I have at least the procced signet of might up, not to mention of picking and popping other signets (such as signet of fury during a fight for re-maxing adrenaline).

Sure some of you have tried the both variants already and can share their wisdom?

TL;DR: Def/Disc/Str or Def/Disc/Arms for HoT core GS/x warrior?

To be quite honest, I too was somewhat surprised, after playing most of my time as core warrior to find that berserker is a quick-bursting AH machine. But on the other hand that’s what I need to get along in most HoT content. If that is because I suck or because HoT is pretty hard (or vanilla content is too easy and therefore I’m just a crybaby) I can’t tell. But before using berserker, I got kicked all over the place while right now, I kick some chak butt. After months of stagnation and alting, I finally rediscovered my taste on my main and all thanks to berserker spec.

To me it seems (please right me if I’m wrong) that core warrior, as it is played by all the seminoobs plus me, can’t survive in HoT. Perhaps I will try and respec my core warrior and give it another try as I hope that berserking has honed my warrior skills.
So am I the only one that got punched in the chest by HoT and had to adapt first before being able to go on?

Back to topic:
Imho, ELITE specs should be somewhat better than the core class, but making literally all the difference between enjoying yourself and wanting to reroll, quit whatever is a bit too much.

EDIT: The more I think about it, the more I actually want to try HoT w/o berserker… of course AH will still be my lifesaver, but fueled by burst mastery, “to the limit” , signet of rage (passive), signet of fury… can’t wait!

It’s funny: If somebody else has a problem (namely, the warriors), it’s “l2p”. But beware that somebody gets buffed, then it’s a top level concern and needs to be nerfed asap.

Maybe you are just too used to utterly destroying warriors and can’t cope with the fact that it’s now challenging again.

Maybe all classes should have exactly the same skills/traits and differ only in colour? But even that would lead some persons to the conclusion that the opponent, after having kicked their buttocks, can only have achieved that by playing an insanely OP class with insanely OP skills/traits.

Spartacus got it quite right:

Your typical average gamer -
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "

100b.. getting old?

Plautze.6290

IMO one of the below buff will be good enough.

• Reduce overall cast time from 3.5sec to 3sec or

• increase damage to stationed target 15% or

• finisher on last hit

Good proposal, I second that. But does half sec make that much of a difference? On paper it sounds rather minuscule… I personally prefer the finisher on last hit for its epic satisfaction

Or make the last strike changed on downed enemies so the warrior jumps and thrusts the sword into the earth, effectively stomping the player. Now that would be awesome!

Ofc with some aftercast to pull the sword out of the ground.

Actually, it is even the same situation as with flurry:

You will be rooted while slashing away. But while flurry comes equipped with a cripple, 100b does not, yet it suffers from the same downside.
Then again, we are comparing an adrenal burst skill to a rather spammy skill, so there literally has to be a downside.
I would even sign the q_q about adding soft CC to 100b :P because that would not be groundbreaking but rather subtle, yet meaningful to us greatswordians.

Alright, I’m sorry for being rude.

But on the other hand, it ain’t very constructive either to take turns in saying “yeah, 100b sucks balls”.

But to add something useful (finally):
Yes, 100b in GW1 used to give you additional hits, whether you hit or not (that was especially good since Warr would get blinded all the time). But damage was rather small.
I could imagine them adding immobilizing or at least crippling to 100b like in flurry. That would be a rather minor change and could still be dodged by skillful players who react fast. So it wouldn’t be OP.

Plautze.6290

In my humble opinion, 100b is okay. Sure I frown when I misjudge range and stand there, swinging my gs at the empty air like an idiot. But then again, I frown every time i use guardians hammer AA#3, where he is taking friggin’ forever to land that kitten strike. I frown at certain other situations playing other classes. Generally, there is no class where i do not frown from time to time.

But hey, nobody forces me to use those skills upon which i frown (when I still was a small and unknowing warrior, I spammed 100b… right now i rarely use it except for stationary targets – and don’t miss it, since gs is actually more than just 100b…). So, man up and live with the restrictions that said skills have or just don’t use them. But don’t expect the world to change just because you think it’s unfair. If you can out-DPS 100b with something, i really don’t see the point.

Edit: As an afterthought, feinting 100b can still be useful after immobilizing somebody (bladetrail + leg specialist) to make them burn their stun break or waste endurance.

TL;DR: If you don’t like, just don’t use it. The true master uses what is at hand instead of wishing for something better.

Ground disappearing during personal story

Plautze.6290

24h later and not a single person played their Norn story line? Yeah right…

That’s the funny thing about problems: Once there is one, each and every single person feels compelled to share their two cents without further increasing information gained but when the problem is solved, nobody feels the need to express gratitude or even share their positive experience. This leads me to the assumption that it is taken for granted that everything works perfectly.

Makes one think.

Re-roll warrior to learn the class properly?

Plautze.6290

NumenorLord, thank you. That was the kind of answer I was hoping for: logical, structured and comprehensible.

I think the problem is, that most parts of PvE play similarly and allow you to get by with the very same layout all the time and when it’s finally time to adapt, you screw up for lack of experience in adapting.

Re-roll warrior to learn the class properly?

Plautze.6290

I already have everything unlocked, including berserker trait line, wild abandon collection is progressing. So no getting comfy with anything. I somehow feel like I got the whole learning curve wrong. Learning to play Necro and Engi felt somehow more effective than my first go with my Warrior.

But I made up my mind. Since all I did so far was raising humans, I’ll roll a Norn Warrior (mainly for the beer feast mentality and the cultural armor skins) and learn Warrior again “from scratch” but with all the knowledge and understanding of the game I have right now (but didn’t have one year ago). Hopefully, refreshing my “Warrior 101” course, will make me rethink and respec my Main. Would be a shame to actually drop it for the wrong reasons.

Re-roll warrior to learn the class properly?

in Warrior

Posted by: Plautze.6290

Plautze.6290

Hey guys!

I’m in a rather philosophical dilemma: Since my beginnings in GW2, which consisted of a Warrior, I have also maxed a Necro and 40’d an Engi and while this was quite funny and interesting, it makes me wonder if I got the Warrior basics right. ATM I reside in Verdant Brink and usually get my butt kicked no matter what, which is the main reason why I feel I probly got the basics wrong, since my Warrior was my very first GW2 char and thus I didn’t know a thing about the game.

So my question is whether it is sensible to re-roll my Warrior to re-learn the Warrior skills, traits aso with the knowledge I gained so far from playing Necro and Engi. Because I strongly feel like these two experiences have honed my GW2 skills and I would maybe take a totally different approach to Warrior as a class.

As an alternative, I would settle down rolling another Warrior and transfer the newly gained knowledge to my dying main. Getting your butt kicked in VB all the time while owning the rest of Tyria is frustrating…

What’s your opinion on this?

ANet, we still love you! For me, it was the first rollback ever, though I´ll admit I was quite baffled this morning:

  • Wants to keep on crafting in LA
  • Notices that he´s somehow still in Harathi Hinterlands and has to redo his 100% there
  • Takes skeptic look at the liquor bottles scattered all over his desk
  • Shrugs

It was a good decision. Better rather soon than, say, after 24 hours. THAT would cause an uproar. And thanks for keeping us posted!
