forum dwellers would go nuts about the need to
“grind” to get exp, new swords, new potions etc
(edited by Raziel.4216)
you need to take them OUT of the 28 Adventure ones
Source? I already explained why the leaderboard is not a realiable one.
Re-read the summary.
I am speaking for at least 250-300 people here, and I guess my guilds are not the only ones on Earth to have a majority of people thinking this way
Now we’re making progress, you’re talking for a very small fraction of people, you’re giving an opinion just as valid as anyone else’s, you’re not giving facts.
Valid opinion, just like the rest who posted on this topic who agreed/disagreed with yours, but not a fact and in no way representative of the GW2 community like you claimed before.
Glad we’re done.
PS: I never claimed 7m people bought HoT, we have no numbers on that, we only know that there’re around 7m GW2 accounts.
(edited by Raziel.4216)
I’ll make a summary, maybe it’ll be easier for you to understand.
You claim that we have no surplus because the average player is UNABLE to complete ANY ADVENTURE in silver or gold.
Based on a leaderboard that shows who reached a particular time/score last, if 5000 people complete a challenge in 1:03 you won’t see it.
I am asking for a objective and verifiable source that proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt that the average player is unable to complete any of the challenges beyond the bronze tier.
Your claim includes the average player out of 7 million gw2 accounts, you’re talking for a lot of people there. Can’t expect anyone to take it as a fact without an actual source beyond what your friends/guildmates said.
I hope this makes it easier for you to admit your lack of reliable data.
So you’re claiming that even the mastery point related to silver are out of reach?
And ALL gold adventures are out of reach too? That claim faces yet another problem, where’s your SOURCE? how can you claim that the majority of players faces this problem without one?
Yes, MOST silver achievments are NOT DOABLE for the average player, because: LEADERBOARDS! Gosh, you are so… I won’t say it, you may not understand the word! Check the LEADERBOARDS, they will show you that almost no players did SILVER nor GOLD in most of the adventures! And if you make a percentage out of them (you know, you calculate how many players did succeed silver and higher in comparaison with the ones who did not), you will see that for most Adventures, only a very very small % did it!!
Leaderboards show the last player that completed that particular time, if 500 people complete a challenge @ the same time the leaderboard won’t show it.
Once again, source?
Simply admitting that this is your opinion, not a fact, will stop me from calling out your baseless claims, oh avatar of the silent majority.
So we have an extra 20 mastery points, out of which 8(?) are tied to hard adventures.
That leaves an extra 12, so, where’s your source that proves that a lot of people are unable to max their masteries because of this? Is there a leaderboard or some data available that shows the ammount of people that can or can’t complete masteries with the rest of the mastery points?
No, there isn’t.I’ll keep calling you out because you have no source, it’s simply your opinion, that’s it, one player’s opinion which is just as valid as the next’s that claims adventures are not a problem, but you keep trying to make it look like you’re some kind of avatar of the silent majority.
Wow…! You are so BRILIANT in math…! Do you realize you do not get the very basic calculous I made…? Gosh, it is scary! There are 20 SURPLUS mastery points. But 28 Adventure ones. If you make 28-20, you uare left with, guess what… 8!!! These eight, you HAVE to do them, since only 20 of ALL mastery points are SURPLUS! I am… speechless.
And this is ONLY if you have done EVERY SINGLE mastery point not tied to the Adventures, which, for the average player, is pretty UNDOABLE (either because the lack of time or skill)!
Once again you speak for the rest, same problem as before, source?
Burden of proof, google it.
Back to adventures, I’d say only the gold for
Shooting Gallery
The Floor Is Lava?
Haywire Punch-o-Matic Battle
Scrap Rifle Field Test
Are out of reach for the average player, that’s 4 out of the 20 mastery point surplus, leaving an extra 16.
Since we don’t have to provide any sort of reliable source for anything we claim is a fact, my claim is just as valid as yours, remember this is a fact, not an opinion, I pull real data out of nowhere, it’s magic!
So you’re claiming that even the mastery point related to silver are out of reach?
And ALL gold adventures are out of reach too?
That claim faces yet another problem, where’s your SOURCE? how can you claim that the majority of players faces this problem without one?

No, there isn’t.
I’ll keep calling you out because you have no source, it’s simply your opinion, that’s it, one player’s opinion which is just as valid as the next’s that claims adventures are not a problem, but you keep trying to make it look like you’re some kind of avatar of the silent majority.
And those claims were just as baseless, a quick look @ this topic will prove otherwise.
Simply admitting that you have no source will be enough for me to stop calling you out on baseless claims, looking foward to your source or that.
We have a surplus of mastery points, so not being on the leaderboards is not proof of anything.
If we couldn’t max masteries without challenges your point would stand. Still waiting on that source.
Nonsense? you make a claim regarding a lot of people, I ask for a source, you’re unable to provide one.
As expected I guess.
You have yet to provide a source to back up any of your claims regarding the problem “a lot of people have”, most of the replies in this topic disagree with you.
Until you do so this looks like an issue for a very small group of players.
Btw noone claimed the expansion is only for those who like challenging stuff, most of the people who replied here were ok with the level of challenge provided, you claim people think otherwise, we’re just waiting on your source. The only reason I’m asking for one is because you keep claiming a lot of people have a problem with this, if you’re unable to provide one we can assume it’s just you who have a problem with this.
Bogdanus Magnus;
What’s your objective & verifiable source that players are unable to max their masteries because of adventures? “My friends & guild” doesn’t count because we can use’em too to support our argument.
Keywords: Objective. Verifiable
Your post didn’t answer anything, still waiting.
Note: I said source regarding the “fact” that people are unable to max masteries because of this, waiting for it on your next reply.
And potentially drive away many of the people that made GW2 more successful than GW1, especially when you have people in the community actively say “you know that game you’ve been enjoying for three years? Well the new stuff is not for you.”
Once again
What’s your objective & verifiable source that a large number of players are alienated by this mob’s dificulty?
You keep saying it hurts a lot of people, it’s bad for a lot, etc. etc. for a loooootttt of people, source?
My source is LEADERBOARDS and PLAYERS I PLAY WITH. My numbers are FACTS. 126 + 6 TIED TO HIGH TIER MASTERIES. You know what? Count them. Still 4/5 masteries needed. Still SILVER and a few GOLD needed in Adventures. Should not be the case. There.
And anyone else’s sources are the people they play with, guess what? the people I play with have no problem with mastery points.
What’s your objective & verifiable source that players are unable to max their masteries because of adventures? “My friends & guild” doesn’t count because we can use’em too to support our argument.
Keywords: Objective. Verifiable
The game is for everyone, for those who insist that people should “learn to play” with tougher mobs, you need to “learn to play” with less hardcore players. GW2 is not a hardcore game, it is not for you. It is a casual game for casual players, and they gain nothing by alienating those players.
What’s hardcore about a mob that has a big tell on his attacks and dies in -5 attacks?
What players are they alienating? Is there a category to sum up people who’re unable to adapt to an easy mob? And don’t call’em casuals, plenty of us here are casuals and we have no problem with this mob.
What’s your objective & verifiable source that a large number of players are alienated by this mob’s dificulty?
There are 126 mastery points + 6
So 132 total, you don’t get to decide what counts and doesn’t really count.
That’s more than enough to ignore gold on most adventures, move on.
its only a chore if you make it one
its a chore.
Not to those who take their sweet time.
It’s not a chore, I enjoy it.
Or you want “everything now!!” with little to no effort.
Didn’t have to grind spiders to reach 100+ mastery, some of us just play the game.I’d laugh hard if ANet would allow every player to attempt raids. Pretty sure lvl1 masteries would perform the same way, if not better than current lvl 161 mindless grinders.
Grinding =/= skills.
And mindless farming doesn’t requiere any effort. Man, you can watch netflix while doing this. Where’s the effort exactly? It’s just content gating. Something I though I would never see in GW2. If I want content gating, I’ll go back to FF14, where instanced pve is 10 times better than here.
Like I said, I didn’t have to grind anything to reach high mastery levels. Masteries are only a grind if you make them one, the “everything now!” mindset is your problem, not Arenanet’s.
This whole “high mastery requires grinding!” argument is full of BS, it’s a mere excuse to get another nerf.
Using masteries in raids would give Anet a lot of freedom & new mechanics for bosses, take one of my favorite bosses as an example: the patriarch, he requires constant use of updrafts to kill, if Anet goes “oh well we’re excluding those poor people without masteries” and removes the mechanic he’d be just another high HP sponge.
Anet clearly said that raids are NOT for everyone, so go back to FF14 and whine there, we’ll keep our new mechanics in raids.
(edited by Raziel.4216)
They aren’t really dismissing them….. just telling them to get better. Other people can do it, why can’t they?
but it’s basically dismissing their experiences, saying that the inconvenience they are having is not something that should exist, or not something that should bother them. If someone is saying that they’re bothered, then they’re bothered. Accept that as a fact and move on from there, don’t try to explain to them why they’re wrong for being bothered.
On the contrary, that inconvenience should exist, we all faced it.
That inconvenience should motivate’em to improve so that they can beat it, instead of whining on the forum asking Anet to remove the inconvenience for’em.
HoT was advertised as hard content, we already got a crapload of nerfs, stop asking for more.
Honestly if you don’t have at least 4th tier mastery of every line by the time raids launch then raids aren’t designed for you. The higher tiers I could understand, but if you are complaining about needing poison lore or updrafts, then you aren’t going to beat the raid anyway so just don’t worry about it.
Or because you don’t find spider grinding fun.
Or you want “everything now!!” with little to no effort.
Didn’t have to grind spiders to reach 100+ mastery, some of us just play the game.
Agree with ya Liana, there’s plenty of stuff to do to get the masteries, it gives you a new goal to work for as long as you can manage to survive (gasp!) without having everything available on day one.

Anything that’s cherrypicked will, by definition, ignore the context that it’s taken from.
But if you take a look at the whole review, including the cherrypicked criticism, the bad parts that the OP didn’t quote + the good points made in the review you can have a better picture.
Try live in 3rd world country then speak about internet again. I dare you.
Challenge accepted.
I live in a 3rd world country and managed to complete it.
^ Those negative comments were cherrypicked, the review also points out lot of good stuff.
I wonder why the OP felt the need to quote the negative parts and leave the good ones out, mmm …..
We don’t know for how long she was starved before the fight, no matter how special she is if she’s starving she won’t get to do much.
That might be true if she was Human, but she isn’t, she’s a Norn. They have entirely different physiologies to Humans. Also, the assumption is from the time of the crash to then, so a handful of days at worse.
Handful of days? It’s not the first chapter, we’ve been out there looking for’em for a while so what part of the story implies that? It could be a week.
“She’s norn so she’s special” doesn’t cut it, Norn eat and drink too, Norn will get weaker if they don’t do it for a long period of time.Plus the fact she’s been through a horrible crash, probably did not receive any medical treatment, and lord knows what else. Seems people are getting too hung up on and only focusing on the fact she said she hasn’t had food or water.
kitten how could I forget that?
We don’t know how badly she’s hurt, for all we know she’s got a few broken ribs.
^ That almost looks like “play how I want or else you’re kittened”. God forbid someone else wants to do something else.
Nice mindset, it’ll get you far.

They clearly said we’d have some chaos after the expansion came out and they told us not to worry because it’d settle down soon.
Can’t have everything we want on day 1, you’ll have to survive somehow.
Precursors and some ascended mats going up doesn’t qualify as general inflation.
Please read a bit on a subject before you talk about it.
Companies, change your product to suit customers who bought it without knowing what you’re selling!
There, fixed that for you.
Extended your fix a bit
Do your research before you buy your products. Can the customer complain if….
I buy the upcoming SC2 expansion, go on the forum and complain it wasnt focused on the hybrids like I expected, everyone + their grandmother points out that Blizzard announced the fact that it’d be focused on protoss for ages before it was released
Or I buy battlefront and complain that it’s not a star trek game
Next I buy Dragon Age 3 and complain that it’s not a continuation of Mass Effect
Could go on forever…. Devs, change your games to suit me!
Please don’t do it Anet, we have enough faceroll content in the core game.

Yeah a casual who already has the 400 hero points to unlock your elite…….
He may not have it, but he enjoys the progression.
BTW OP calling anyone who liked the previous way or defends stuff that takes more than a few days a white knight makes you look pretty bad.
I love how that site was brigaded by reddit to force positive reviews from the fanboys.
Guess you didn’t see it a couple days ago, when the average score was like 3/10 because of all the buttmad kiddies giving 0 stars?
So all Reddit fan boys trying to manipulate the metric score are any better than these so called butt mad kids? There are some truths to both sides in the reviews!
Reddit fan boys? right because any who like the expansion and disagree with vocal minority are fan boys right? The fact is bad posts there can be downvoted to oblivion, while bad post on offical forum stays.
Pretty much. “Fan boy” is just another name calling tactic that uses rhetoric on the level of gradeschool kids to try and subvert anyone from feeling comfortable speaking up about anything they like about a game.
lol the same thing as calling anyone that disagrees with you point of view is a “level of gradeschool kids” and you try to subvert anyone who dislike likes something about the game.
Look the rhetoric works both ways, which was what I was pointing out!
People calling players giving bad reviews kids etc and you get mad because some said “fan boy” You can’t have it both ways!!
Like I said there are some truths to both sides in the reviews and you people should be more open minded then being blinded by your own personal view point on something. So really no need for anyone to attack anyone regardless which side of the line you stand on since no one side is any better then the other.
No, not really. See, the difference is ‘fan boy’ criticizes by applying an identity (i.e. name calling), while my statement criticized an action (name calling).
I didn’t call anyone a grade school kid, even if I did say that name calling was a childish act.
Like I said you and others can’t have it both ways and you are not fooling anyone and congratulations on to continue to miss my point.
He said the action of aplying labels to anyone who disagrees is in the “level of gradeschool kids”, he did not call those who don’t like the game “gradeschool kids”.
There’s a difference between a group of people (those who don’t like the game) and doing something (calling others fanboys).
You continue to miss his point. Congrats!
I have to play the game to get a lengedary? kitten it Anet what happened to “play how you want” ? I just want to play the whole exp. with a twilight!
This is just as valid as most of the 0/10 reviews that appeared less than 72 hours after the exp launch
Empty events? didn’t they fix the megaserver bug?
kitten luck if you still have empty servers
Watch known youtubers stream it or wait for an industry review to get your info.
Forums are a bad place to seek real objective info.
We knew that classes would unlock existing weapons MONTHS before the release, heck you could even see it on the reveal trailer almost one year ago, we played them in the betas, there’s a crapload of videos on youtube about it.
We knew about the class trait lines overhaul MONTHS before the release, it was implemented some time ago, once again we tested it in the beta.
We knew most of the stuff you’re complaining about, you should do your research before you buy a game. That’s like buying fallout 4 next month and complaining it’s not a RTS.First of all kiddo, I was in Iraq for the past 6 months, so computer access to check up on a games expansions wasn’t exactly top priority. When it was first announced, THATS what was said, learn to read. Not everyone just sits at home at mommies house and plays with their neckbeard and cats. And I didn’t even purchase it. kitten .
So “vet”, being in Iraq is a magic get-out-of-customer-kitten-up card? or is it’s Anet’s fault? it’d take you less than 2 hours to read on EVERYTHING.
Let’s play this scenario in other game
I buy the upcoming SC2 expansion, go on the forum and complain it wasnt focused on the hybrids like I expected, everyone + their grandmother points out that Blizzard announced the fact that it’d be focused on protoss for ages before it was released, can I say “screw ya all kiddos, I was in Iraq!”
Or I buy battlefront and complain that it’s not a star trek game, everyone points out that it was never advertised as such, so I’ll just say “screw ya all kiddos, I was in Iraq!”.
Next I buy Dragon Age 3 and complain that it’s not a continuation of Mass Effect, everyone points out that it was my bad, so I’ll just say “screw ya all kiddos, I was in Iraq!”
Could go on forever….
All of your post is a personal attack and a pathetic attempt to glorify yourself and excuse your lack of research before spending your money, I guess that means you’ve no real argument to make.

Here’s feedback. Someone in another thread mentioned that HoT had a metacritic rating of 4.3.
After that the votes began to rapid swing upward so it’s safe to assume that all the contrarians read that, then got together and said, ’Let’s go over to metacritic and vote 10.0 across the board. Just to show em’.’
And in a previous one in reddit people asked others to go give it a bad rating, so that previous score was just as legit.
Oh yeah, I am definitely close to getting a refund like most people.
Source?
Most of the people I know enjoy it, most of the people you know will get a refund.
What’s your objective & verifiable source to make such claim?
(edited by Raziel.4216)
I bet half off the 10 stars reviews on Metscritic are written by Anet employees.
Yesterday the score was around 5 with almost 1 to 1 positive and negative reviews. This tells us that the better, well-thought out reviews from people who took their time to test the game tend towards giving it a better score. Most of the 0-scores HoT received on Metacritic were given within the first 72 hours after launch.
I’ll be honest, your statement makes no sense, and is very bias. Those who took their time to test the game will realized how bad the optimization, experience gain, and how badly gated it is. Hell, I discovered all 4 of the new maps, and is unable to explore the whole area because I am sitting behind mastery walls.
Then why is the quantity of positive reviews increasing? If what you say is true, then metacritic should show an increasing number of negative reviews. Yet precisely the opposite is happening.
Have you looked at those reviews? Half of them ARE VAGUE.
Right back at ya
Have you looked at the negative reviews? they’re not that much better and some were out a few hours after release. There was a reddit thread asking people to give it bad reviews.

Could it be that – wait for it ….. – people give it a good review before they like it? Oh god I hope that thought didn’t blow your mind. What part of the manifesto that they posted long ago not cross your mind? It’s my world, my story; not 50 minutes later the whole events restarts.
“play how you want” can mean a lot of different stuff, I play how I want and I enjoy the story and it’s mastery system.

I’ve yet to see a MMO expansion where players log in and have all of their new skills in day 1 and I sure hope this isn’t the first one, don’t let the door hit you on your way out.
Factions.
What? I had to unlock skills in factions.
Yeah…and it took all of 2 hours to unlock all the core class skills.
Amirite?
LOLOL did you even play factions? You have to capture every single skill. I’ve been playing GW1 for 9 years and my skills captured in faction is still only 115/130. And these are only elite skills. You have to unlock the thousands of regular skills… I’m by no means a noob either since I have 35 HOM and 11 titles maxed. I’m working on all 37 titles maxed.
If anything it’d take around 50 hours if you do it quickly and efficiently. Then you have to farm up money to buy skill capture skills which cost 1K each, and as a lol 1, 130k is hard to come by…
GJ spreading false info.
I think fireflyry was being sarcastic; mocking the people who complain about not having the specializations unlocked 2 hours after playing.

People had a lot of false expectations, it is true that 400 hero points is way too much, but some were expecting to have the new class trait line 15 mins after playing HoT.
Unreal expectations tend to have bad results.I think people that played a lot and put in a lot of effort prior to patch felt their previous efforts should have been worth something more….that is all
Reward now for time spent simply does not add up. And the time spent is not that enjoyable because many are simply go back to playing other game modes.
Their previous effort can cut down the ammount of HP require by 40%, that’s a LOT.
