Um, that’s EXACTLY how it works at the moment, and that’s my point. With ALL area-of-effect skills currently only affecting a maximum of 5 players, it encourages stacking and zerging.
Did you not know about the 5-person limit on AoE?

I knew of some limit, but I didn’t know it was 5. I thought you meant Anet was reducing the limit down to 5. Regardless, the AoE targeting limit (on most skills) is pretty silly.

I think stealth should be removed in PvP settings (including WvW), just because it has the most impact there. But then again, this is coming from someone who was only able to get world completion using a thief and lots of shadow refuge spam for skillpoints, vistas, etc. I can’t see why I’d waste time waiting for people to come help me at a skillpoint when I can just stealth and do it myself. I also don’t see myself getting world completion on another character anytime soon, for that same reason.

AoE being limited to 5 targets would be tough on a lot of people. I run a shout-healing build for WvW and sometimes go for banners, so that would render both types of builds pretty useless. Then again, warriors have plenty of other options and we aren’t exactly the best healers in the game…

Ranger short bow range

I have no objection to eagle eye working with shortbow to increase its range, I just don’t think the base range reduction on SB was unreasonable

Eagle Eye should trait SB range back to 1200, but like someone else has mentioned, it probably should have been default 900 all along.

Shortbow in WvW after the patch

Oh no? You can’t autoattack with Shortbow anymore, from freaking miles away, while applying 14+ stacks of Bleed? God forbid you actually have to use skills to play.

Ranger Shortbow was by far the most forgiving, braindead, easy-mode way to play in all of GW2. Thank god they changed the range.

HAH! The YouTube video link was funny, mainly because you tried to use it as an argument for the short bow nerf. Rangers stack 6-7 bleeds max in PvE, and if you’re fighting a real person, they just face you and you can’t bleed them anymore.

I would accept a compromise at 1000 range and Eagle Eye buff it back to 1200 range.

Good compromise. I don’t even care about the buff up to default 1000 range, but Eagle Eye trait back to 1200 range (with default 900) just because it gives +300 range to longbow already and makes sense to apply to short bow, without any extra reasoning on our part.

EDIT: guys, come on, I created a thread like an hour ago and this has 2 replies already?! Jerks!

(….With sarcasm of course. I actually hope more threads are created about this same issue, because 5+ replies is a complete turn-off for me)

Am I the only one happy with Rangers?

First of all, SB NEVER, EVER should have had the same range as LB. This is logical. I’m surprised it took them THIS LONG to nerf it. […] So, man, I dunno.

Exactly, you don’t know. Short bows and longbows logically have the same range. They just differ in power and rate of fire.

Short bow range nerf was a fail.

Ranger Short Bow Range Buff/Trait

Reisinger.4203

Short bows and longbows don’t have much discernible difference in terms of range in real life. What differs between both weapons (again, irl) is their power and rate of fire (assume equal archery skill).

It seems pretty silly to me that the ranger’s short bow skills all got nerfed to 900 range.

Now I’m not asking for 1200 range back on those skills (even though that is ideal and makes the most sense), but at least have a trait that lets rangers get their short bows back up to 1200 range.

The Eagle Eye trait is the easiest fix for this issue. It increases ranger longbow range to 1500. So why not have this apply to short bows as well? I am not asking for the added damage buff, just an anti-nerf for short bow range.

Like most have already said in ranger forums, after all these patches you might as well delete the ranger class and roll a thief. Especially with this default 900 range short bow garbage.

Shortbow in WvW after the patch

in Ranger

Reisinger.4203

The only reason I rolled a ranger was because shortbow ranger was the most fluid playstyle for me (out of Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist, Thief, and Engineer). And now it’s 900 range? Are you kidding me? That’s the reason why I quit thief months ago, because they have a sad excuse for a range weapon. I browsed thief threads awhile ago, and all of them complain about the poor SB range. Most disappointing patch from Anet for me…

Option to remove bloom

Does bloom affect draw distance? For me, the faded distances look silly and make the maps seem ridiculously small. That’s not GW2’s unique art style, that’s just poor graphics.

Regardless, the bloom is a problem in near-distance objects. I’d like to see the “glow” GONE on just about everything.

Was about to quit GW2 less than 2 months in because the graphics were so poor and overrated, but then I turned off anti-aliasing and post-processing and things were tolerable.

Improvements to the Commander role

in Suggestions

Reisinger.4203

EDIT: Your images work fine for me! ^^

Interesting suggestion. I would like to see Anet consider this. Your “Commander’s Score” system sounds much like the one found in LOTR: Conquest. In that game, amount of kills by your zerg, yourself, friendly zerg deaths, and your own deaths are tracked.

As someone who almost always fights next to a commander in WvW, I would like to know who I am supporting before I end up dead because of poor map-reading and planning.

What I’m not so sure about is the “green” icon. Doesn’t that apply to most WvW commanders right now? I’ve been on 3 servers and actively played WvW on each (been on T1 to T7). I’ve fought against many more and all I notice is roaming commanders (both friendly and hostile). I think commanders need the freedom to do what they want and when they want, rather than be bound by a single role. You could solve this by making the tag colour quick and simple to change, but then it just goes back to the concern of having all “green” commanders running around the map.

Lastly, as a non-commander as well, I agree with your sentiment. I’m sure many people share this sentiment as well, but I don’t speak on behalf of those people – what matters is that this is a shared problem and there are a significant amount of others who think the same way. Turn off those tags in PvE. There’s a fine line between leading and just being full of yourself.

Morpholigical Filtering makes the game blurry

I share the same sentiment. Ever since turning off anti-aliasing, I can never go back to the blurry textures. It also reduces a lot of the ugly bloom effect.

Anti-aliasing on = standard
Anti-aliasing off = HD

Which might say something about the graphics in the game…

I have NVIDIA on my laptop and AMD on my desktop, both of which have GW2 installed. I keep anti-aliasing off on both of them.

Left: Alternate weapon set
Top right: Phalanx, anyone?
Bottom right: Main weapon set

A combination of ancient Greek hoplite and Roman soldier styles (mostly because of the shield – there aren’t any large, circular shields). Unfortunately, there aren’t very many options for helmets, shields, or main-hand weapons that resembled the “Spartan” look, so this was the best I could come up with. I created the character solely for WvW, mostly as healing and off-tank support.

Server Population "Limit" Reset?

Thanks for your responses guys. 500 gems cost me quite a fortune (relatively) and 1000 more will cost a lot, but I guess it’s worth it if I can play in the evenings again!

Server Population "Limit" Reset?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Reisinger.4203

UPDATE (as of June 8th, 2013): Anet does update server populations. As of today, some server population statuses were reduced to medium, high, and very high (no more full servers for T1 WvW). This will most likely not be the case for long, but the reduced transfer cost is very much appreciated. Thank you, Anet!

A few months ago, Anet allowed players to transfer to medium servers for free. I took advantage of that – wonderful update in retrospect. I moved from SBI to HoD within hours of the update and enjoyed some less laggy WvW there. However, due to WvW struggles, I paid for some gems to transfer over to EU (Dzagonur [DE]) to get World Completion. I do not regret that decision at all. I know enough German to get around here WvW or PvE, but after getting World Completion – which was a mostly solo activity as I played as a thief – the regional time difference made it so that WvW, LA, pretty much anywhere is often empty when I log on in the evening.

I have currently saved up enough gems to transfer for a medium population server, but only enough to make a medium transfer. The only medium pop. servers are in EU, which doesn’t suit my needs. I would like to go back to NA servers, particularly HoD.

I would not bother paying if I could simply guest on NA servers, but Anet has already said that this is a technical issue that they won’t bother with and that’s understandable to me.

tl;dr: Will NA server populations ever be “readjusted” so that not every server’s population is “very high”?

Thanks for reading, looking forward to some insight.
