Wow, this whole time I’ve been living in China! Who knew?!
Who would have known that people who’d been playing for over a year would care so much about the 1-10 levelling experience?
…Oh I see.
It’s key farming, right?
I’ve been playing for 4 months and I will not continue playing after this terrible feature pack. I have 2 level 80s, a ranger and a warrior. I was planning on trying every profession, even buying more character slots. Playing the same profession can get boring, so I wanted to try something different and get to know every profession. The best way to beat your enemy is to know them well, right? Well I don’t know if this was all a joke or what, but levelling is so ridiculous now it’s almost like playing a slightly better looking version of World of Warcraft. Do you know why I didn’t buy World of Warcraft, Anet? Because I don’t LIKE it, and I assume most people here do not like generic MMOs like it either. So why in the world would you turn this game into the very thing its players do not like?
Not only will I not be making another alt (I am a new player of around 4 months who was planning on giving every profession a try and only got to warrior and ranger before this disaster), I will not be playing this game anymore. If this is how they intend to attract and keep new players, then I hate to see what they have in store, if anything, for older players. This game is currently going down a very bad path. As a longtime player of RuneScape, this is like watching what went wrong with RuneScape happen all over again. That is, the developers paid no attention to the players’ feedback and instead made the changes THEY wanted to see instead of what the players wanted. Sorry to burst your bubble Anet, but the players are what keep your game alive, not you. If the players don’t like it, it doesn’t matter if you like it because you won’t be able to afford to keep working on it. It doesn’t sound very nice, but it’s true. You’re trying to sell a product here.
If Club Penguin was an MMO, this would be extremely close.
Until Anet removes the weapon skill unlocks and reverts it back to the way it was, or at least makes it optional for old players, I will be playing another game. It is really sad because I loved this game so much and it shocks me how a game developer can completely ruin a game in a single day. This “feature” pack goes against everything this game claimed to be, and instead of adding features, removed them. Why not call it a “simplifier pack” instead since all this update did was simplify the game into a braindead state just like WoW.
Maybe instead of stripping features for new players and using them as rewards, you could maybe ADD ACTUAL NEW REWARDS. You know, maybe you guys should get some players to be advisors, that way maybe you’ll realize when something is a terrible idea.
Before this feature pack, I was 200% sure no other MMO could take me away from this game. But now? The weapon skill unlocks have turned it into another grindy generic WoW-clone, and ArcheAge is looking a lot more appealing now than before the feature pack.
Yes, Anet, listen to this person. We are the players, we know better what we want to see in the game than you do. If the game developers are the only ones who like the game, the game will fail.
The changes made that are meant to help new players are ruining the game for old players. This game was already simple and easy to learn, now it’s just dumbed down to the point where it’s just as boring as World of Warcraft. I wouldn’t be surprised if next they say that having no holy trinity is too confusing to new players, so they add a holy trinity and now we’ve got a generic WoW-clone.
The new unlock system is just dumb in general. Some things are fine, but having to wait to unlock downed state and weapon skills? I can even manage without utility skills, but really Anet? Who thought this was a good idea? Did you even try playing like this? Whoever suggested this should be fired.
I checked out this event yesterday, and I didn’t see much toxicity. I can see where it might become a problem, but really all you need to do is switch the timer around. Put the success timer at 5 minutes, and put the failure timer at 20 minutes. That way succeeding is better than failing and everyone is happy.
Not going to be a status thing, the people who paid 100g will get all colors, just like the people who paid 300g will get all colors.
This is like a teenager with an allowance saying they want more money, while they already have enough to get what they NEED, but they don’t want to work to get what they WANT.
I had no problem making money and I just started around 2 months ago. All you have to do is gather every crafting material you come across while doing map completion and you’ll be raking in gold without realizing it. By the time I reached level 40 I had 30 gold and some nice gear + 400 chef.
I bought a cheap $40 gaming mouse because I was having trouble reaching past the 5 key in combat and it really made a difference for me. The mouse I bought also has a little button on the top left of the left mouse button so I use that for dodging now. I also bought a $45 gaming keyboard, mostly because I tend to play late at night and it helps to have a backlit keyboard. It’s really just a personal preference. The gaming mouse does take some getting used to if you’ve never had one before, so if you don’t have a problem without one, you might be better off not getting one.
I just started 2 days ago and I made 2 gold yesterday with no effort. As a long time MMO fan, I’ve come to understand that no matter what state the game’s economy is in, there is always a way to make money. Sometimes you just have to get a little creative.
