How exactly have you been had? The stats have been posted a long time. If you crafted them you can’t suddenly claim they where something else. For such a huge investment in time I would kind of want to know before I started (which is why I got to 500 crafting and did not make the items).

How would you feel to pay 30k$ for what you think would be a luxury car only to find out you get a used honda? The effort in itself should justify an adequate reward. Hell ANY reward. This thing is a pink exotic…

I thought i was getting more than a very expensive skin. Now i don’t have anything to do but reroll.

If only it was just the gold… I can get more gold. It’s the time i spent working on that gear. I’m about 900 empyreal fragments now, that’s quite a few dungeons. I hate GW2 dungeons…

Guess i won’t be doing them anymore. That and a number of things.

EDIT: the numbers are from the attack tooltip. Mouseover skill one and it has the average dmg the attack will do. Also there are some rare target dummies in mount maelstrom i used to confirm those numbers.

Maths inside:

All 80, all dagger, all mainhand offhand empty, all on same thief’s armor, all for skill 1 tooltip dmg.

Masterwork: 278 dmg (761-808 weapon strength)
Rare: 284 dmg (819-869 weapon strength)
Exotic: 328 dmg (924-981 weapon strength)
Ascended: 330 dmg (970-1030 weapon strength)

Masterwork to rare is 2.1%. Rare to exotic is 15.4%. Exotic to ascended is 0.6%

I’m not a hardcore player who is destroying his empyreal fragments here. I grinded hard for what? A skin and not even 1% dmg?

Ascended gear is trash.

(suggestion) Damask bolts

in Crafting

I’m currently working on an ascended set of leather. Getting all the mats right now so if i change my mind last minute about the mod i can still do that.

There is no way i gather 300 silk daily. I gather about 80ish salvaging all the greens and blues and buy the rest for about 6,5g daily. Then there’s the lesser cloths more maybe 3 more gold.

To spend that daily i have to devote all the gold i make from world bosses and dungeons daily.

Right now it balances but it’s a huge effort. I made a list of the mats i’ll need:
24 damask (18 for inscriptions)
18 elonian leather
20 Bloodstone brick
20 Dragonite ingot
20 Empyreal star
30 dark matter

The reason i posted the list was to point out that the “huge effort” part is somewhat covered in the 6k group event mats and the 30 exotic scrapping mats. There are people scrapping those mats but those people are probably not trying or not trying anymore to craft ascended gear.

To me crafting ascended gear is endgame in itself, i feel it should get all the attention it deserves.

(suggestion) Damask bolts

in Crafting

I understand the move from 50 to 100 was meant to compensate for an overabundance of silk on the market. Reverting the change is not really an option since it would recreate the problem that it was meant to fix.

I feel however the objective was not successfully met because the measures were too strong and need an adjustment. I proposed a solution, there might be others but i feel something needs to be done.

As for people raging about completing their set on high prices i’m sure they feel too a change is needed.

deldrimore steel: 3,7g
spiritwood: 3,2g
elonian leather: 2,0g
damask bolt: 16,9g

Damask is 569,6% (average) as expensive as the rest yet they still maintain their double silk bolt policy.

I think it is time to admit that was a mistake. I even think it has been a while since it became apparent. I’m not saying to roll it back, they probably feel it needs some adjustments but there are other possibilities.

Add instead of multiply. The base recipe is 50 silk bolts. They multiplied it by 2 to 100. I suggest to adjust it to an increase between 51 and 100 bolts instead of the multiplication.

Damask is always going to be more expensive because cloth is more rare. But it doesn’t have to be 500% more expensive.

Making alts is a whole playstyle. Calling them “pointless and annoying” is self centered and false.

Many players feel the need to shop around before settling on a main. It has been referred to as altities. Some people find what they like faster than others and many players like to explore other options after they cap max level.

I am sorry to say if you were trolling i fell for it 100%.

Communication

RiverSong.5067

WoW does not interest me in it’s intended form. I heard about the coming expansion and i dropped it. Mostly over the fact they keep cutting down the stuff they feel is not working as intended. Talent trees were cut down because players were going for cookie cutter builds. Same with reforges. They felt glyphs were too expensive and they give free glyphs to all players. Gems are too expensive so they reduce the number of gem slots on gear to lighten the bill…

WoW used to be interesting. Not anymore.

I think the vision concept is nice.

I feel is should be about the user experience and the rewards the person gets from playing the game. If fun becomes overpowered and becomes nerfed you’re going to have problems.

because it can make new player having a break down and start crying uncontrollably due to all of the confusion. we all know how delicate they are all. so fragile and nubz kind of way.

While new players may be tougher than they look, they are your most demanding and most important clients. Anet’s anyway. Either you sell your product to them or you don’t, there is no in between. And after that there are the consequences.

About leveling

RiverSong.5067

Newbies are going to go through leveling one way or the other. If there is no thought going into leveling, not only people are not going to create alts, also the new players are not going to stick around long enough to make their first gem store purchase.

I think leveling is important.

While it would probably not be possible to hire someone with such a formation for a short delay, it could be interesting to have such a person give a crash course to the CMs. Possibly the devs too.

About leveling

RiverSong.5067

I saw this one coming but no one listened to me.

Leveling needs polishing. Sure they made a nice big patch with fancy level up arts… But pretty paper wrapped poo still stinks.

In the original design, xp gains were calculated simply because there were none before. They were calibrated for a smooth progression. Now with the personal story changes, i have 2 zones where everything my level is completed. I have to A. grind events for a couple of level. B. keep fighting above my level or C. start a third zone. I don’t know the english expression but in french it’s “en dent de scie”. Saw’s teeth, going up and down essentially. Bumpy road.

Is this intended design?

I feel Anet should break out the pen and paper and start an alt. Kill a little and make statistics and come up with a nice pie chart to show the programmers or something.

I made a thread then started reading a bit and found this. I should have posted what i had to say here.

You could read the thread but it was roughly about getting communication expertise. I don’t know about the US, but here in Quebec there is a college major called communication and i feel it might be good to have in order to address the negativity.

I don’t know about the US, but here in Quebec we have a college major called communication. I know it has a little bit of psychology, i took one introduction course while doing my programming degree.

I think this kind of qualification could greatly help to deal with the overall forum negativity. I feel it’s not about the game so much than it is about the “whining” itself going not dealt with.

What thinks you?

Key farming changes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RiverSong.5067

RiverSong.5067

I don’t farm keys, never did. I find the rewards very underwhelming but that’s not the point…

It is my understanding starting September 9th personal stories will start at level 10, because that was the only way they could think of. Now i know how much they hate players and player feedback and everything, but i feel the xp portion of the personal stories kept leveling balanced. Removing that until level 10 would not only make it very counter intuitive for newbies but would also cause them to be required to grind in other race’s zones.

I don’t really care if they move personal stories to level 10 but don’t solve one problem creating another. Balance newbie leveling doing so.

About that blix exploit....

I came across that. I called it a creative use of game mechanics that needs to get looked at.

Failing the event makes the same event to spawn about 5 minutes later. They kill the champion, loot the chest, fail, rinse, repeat.

Someone linked 500+ chests.

Very sad, close to rage wiping

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RiverSong.5067

RiverSong.5067

Threatening to wipe your characters is not going to get you anything. Quite the opposite actually.

I’m not really sure what the core issue is here. In part because you don’t know either.

You seem to feel no one is helping you with story progression. You mentioned you’re broke and that you find it’s hard.

I feel the stories are easy enough to do solo except for the last episode to the personal story which is actually an instance.

I would propose you the following: drop one or two crafting skills as in not using them. Sell your mats and buy decent gear, don’t forget the trinkets. Play around stats and don’t be shy to ask in Lion’s Arch about them. This should help with the PvE as a whole.

If you suffer a genuine depression you’re not going to fix it playing a game. Talk to your relatives if that is the case.

Hope it helps.

That would work except i never got to fight against Scarlet. I think i went Personal story →30s → Main story Season2 → Pending patched extras.

That i could deal with. It’s just i’m worried if i reroll, like i was doing, i might run out of time and miss out on more content.

Confused about stories

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RiverSong.5067

RiverSong.5067

I’d like to know about stories. So far i’ve heard about living stories, personal stories and main stories, but i have no idea what they’re about.

Some context, i started near the end of season one and i got a mail saying i killed a character called Scarlet i knew nothing about. Moved on, played the game, ended up killing a dragon. From the credits i thought i beat the main story and i felt the occasional patches adding stories were “expansion” like.

Now i’m just confused, i’ll never get to beat up Scarlet apparently and i don’t know where in the storyline those credits were, early, middle, end… Should i hurry?

Help…
