2 matches later, 3 necros on my team. guess who won…
this is bs.
just played a rated match vs 3 necros. good times. we lost.
i’m just gonna afk if i see too many necros in enemy team from now on.
kthxbai.
Rampage is balanced it’s what elites are meant to be “ELITE” when used at the right moment they are rewarding. Thank you anet for making warrior a warrior yes high risk rewarding profession.
Yeah Rampage really has a massive risk/reward factor, rofl… Click elite, faceroll skills…???…Profit !
Enjoy your iWin button while it lasts.
I’m running a jack of all trades build atm based off of this:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Meditation_Hammer_%28honor%29
Differences:
Honor IX instead of VIII
Valor V instead of VI
Sigil of Accuracy and Intelligence on both weapon sets
Crusader amulet instead of Marauder
You’ll have decent burst on weapon swap, great sustain with high toughness, self heals, condi clears and invul elite, decent group utility and CC.
The major weakness of this build is the low crit chance. But you can mitigate this somewhat if you save your high damage attacks for after weapon swap or if it’s on CD, while you have fury from using a meditation skill.
You’ll be able to slow kill most glass builds in 1v1 if you can land your bursts (except rampage warriors), stalemate vs bunker builds.

It was really short sighted of them to leave out a ladder system at launch. Most pvp players don’t give two kittens about cosmetic progression, me included.
We need something that shows our progress. Fun alone only takes you so far.
Well, the first few days were really fun, trying out new builds, getting adjusted to the changes and so on.
Now I’m still lacking a goal, something to play for. A ladder or a good reward structure…
Agreed, this is my biggest gripe with PvP in this game. It’s good they got rid of gear progression but they should’ve replaced it with something else. It’s hard to believe after 3 years they still haven’t come up with a solid ladder system.
sPvP is fun but there’s really nothing to aim for currently outside of a meaningless/useless rank system and some cosmetic unlocks.
Nah unranked is fine. It’s ranked that needs to change. There should be a solo/duo queue and a separate full premade queue with the full premade queue awarding more rewards for added incentive.
Why should the pre-made queue award more rewards?
Because most premades do it for the easy win. If they’re garanteed to be matched up against other full premades, they will be less likely to queue.
Result being that queue times for premade vs premade will be much longer than solo/duo. The longer the queue time is, the lesss people join, it’s a vicious circle, until eventually the queue dies totally.
So you need added incentives for people to join the queue or else you end up in the same situation that led Anet to merge premade and solo in the first place: a dead premade queue because the reward isn’t worth the wait.

Warriors seem a little over the top to me. I don’t know why or how, I’m a newb. But I’ve noticed any time there’s a good warrior on a team it’s an instant win and it seems to be pretty systematic. I’d say even more so than with mesmers.
I don’t mean to counter you, but by any chance, were they using a Greatsword or Hammer? Maybe both? From what I’ve seen for myself and in-game thanks to other people, those two weapons are the most “viable” for the Warrior. The worst part about it is that they require no skill to use. The fact that they also manage to inflict 12 stacks of Bleed on me and 19 stacks of Might on themselves with one use of Hundred Blades makes it so much more annoying.
Greatsword yeah, always.

Meta is a prefix. It isn’t a noun, it isn’t an adjective nor an adverb.
Saying “the meta is this or that” makes absolutely no sense. If you’re referring to builds, you should say “the metabuild is this or that”. If you’re referring to team composition, you should say “the metacomp is this or that”.
Have a nice day.
Still stuck in Spirit Watch.
same here, can exit arena after match ended.
Playing around with this hybrid build currently in sPvP:
Hammer (doom/intelligence) / Sceptre-Focus (doom/intelligence)
Shelter + 4 meditations
Pack (or Mercy in Courtyard)/Crusader
Honor: 2-2-3
Virtues: 1-2-3
Valor: 2-2-2
You get insane sustain, decent damage every 9 secs, perma -33% heal on your target, lots of CC and group utility. You need to weapon swap on CD to make full use of the build.
I’m actually performing way better with this build than with the typical glass canon mediguard build.
OK thanks for the replies. Still thinks it’s kindda silly to use the word invulnerable if conditions can still damage you but if it’s always been like that then there’s not much to be said
This would make sense for dying while casting Shelter but Renewed Focus? No.
RF is meant to make u invulnerable. If you’re invulnerable, you don’t take condition damage. Seems bugged to me.
Since the patch I’ve been dying while casting Renewed Focus and Shelter aswell.
This never happened before. Renewed Focus should make you invulnerable to all damage while casting and Shelter should block all incoming attacks while casting.
Yet when I’m on very low health and cast either, I occasionally die and I’m not sure why.
It’s possible that RF is bugged and doesn’t make you immune to condition damage if you have one ticking on you when you start casting.
Anyone else notice this?
Burst DPS was already too high before the patch. Now it’s just stupid.
No way to counter it besides dodging, toughness builds suck, healing builds suck…everyone’s running around spamming their one AOE instakill skill. It’s a joke.
Yeah Glacial Heart is broken.
Description says: Recharge Reduced: % (missing the 20)
And indeed when u slot it and wield a hammer your CDs are unchanged.
I regret waiting so long to give this game a go. GW2 is brilliant. So many well thought out features and mechanics, such originality in class design, such gorgeous esthetics and rock solid gfx engine. I could go on for hours but I’d much rather be playing my Mesmer.
I’ve pretty much played every MMO since 2000 and I was totally despaired about the state of the genre until now. I hadn’t had an MMO honey moon this strong in ages.
I’ve only found two things I don’t like so far: the absence of progression in PvP outside of ranked and the limited bank space. Other than that fantastic job, Anet !
Speaking of absences…where the gold sellers at ? Been playing for 3 weeks and I have yet to see a single gold seller spam. Coming from Archeage and SWTOR, you have no idea how good that feels. How on earth did they pull this off? The game has a large population, gold seems to be in high demand. Is it just the B2P and over abundance of F2P titles in the competition that’s steering the gold sellers away or is Anet doing something other companies aren’t?
Oh and one last thing…the community on my EU server is frikkin awesome…no chat trolls, no trash talking, no angry kids on a sugar rush. Everyone’s helpful, polite and relatively mature – even in PvP.
I’m at a loss tbh, I thought MMOs were doomed, online gaming communities were hopeless…I must unlearn what I have learned.
