So, I’ve played around with this a bit now, in lower/mid difficulties
if you have a warr in your party, have them switch to preferred defensive gear, (i did soldier’s) and equipped mace MH, sword OH / Rifle with Endure Pain, shake it off, and then whatever you want, trait for reflect with Defence V
stand at max range and wait for her tell, reflect it, dodge as soon as you get pulled, and should be able to switch weapons and blow CD and then switch again before next pull, you should have 3 blocks/reflects so even if you kitten up you’ve still got a back up, so it’s fairly forgiving imo
if you have warr tanking all her pulls, rest of the party really just bumbles around until her shield falls and DPS and repeat, it’s not TOO hard, but if you just have someone dedicated to tanking her pulls, takes a lot of pressure off pugs
explain to me how exactly jade maw scales in difficulty with fractal level?
I mean, yes, i know the real answer to that, but in all practicality, it really doesn’t. You can sleep through it 40+ the same as you can 1-10.
Even if Mai Trin were “fixed,” and even if it is doable (which it certainly is), you can’t pretend that this change doesn’t put it totally out of line with the difficulty of the other fractals and fractal bosses.
Just because they changed the stats to scale correctly does not mean that the actual difficulty is scaling correctly, especially in comparison to every other fractal level and boss currently implemented.
now we’re talking, got my build all planned out
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAseSjEd04ZLIGgQKagrgAdwQiq90XVpA-e
Yeah, I just did it pugging a level 25 (should be easy yeah?) it was really harder than it had any right to be, definitely needs to be toned down or some kind of legit mechanic introduced to manage the fight
it’s totally not in-line with the other two bosses now, molten is easy if you pass DPS check, and maw is a snooze fest, but I could see poorly organized groups being really put out by this
I’m not sure why they changed that one, of the three, if anything I thought it was sufficiently difficult, same with the molten bosses.
If anything, jade maw needed revamp because a single character with sufficient AR can reasonably solo it, as it’s almost entirely a mechanics fight, also i hate how it bogs down with mesmer/ranger/necro pugs, and not because it’s difficult.
that’s what i was afraid of -.-
Patch notes say this was fixed, what exactly was wrong with it?
Fractals of the Mists
Mai Trin and First Mate Horrik should now scale appropriately with fractal levels.
Was it too easy on higher difficulties / too kitten low difficulties / damage from salvo?
I’ve never noticed anything off about the fight, so what was it?
Thank you, if anyone knows

Okay, thank you.
If I apply Regen to my friend, does it use his healing power or mine?
If I cast a boon on my friend, does it use his boon duration or mine?
Thank you
Dungeon/Fractal build for necromancer
What I’ve been running now is:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAW3djc00SbNN+0whbiahC66MAmho6Aqnj2oaB-ThBBABYt/o8DgnAQe6aC4CAUp6PnpEEA-e
tl;dr 6/2/0/0/6 :: 6,8,12/6/x/x/2,6,12, full zerk
Switch out the last utility depending on what I’m doing exactly, between Locust Signet, Blood is Power, and Well of Darkness.
Typically I play by gathering life force with Axe, dropping wells, and spreading regen with focus then swapping to staff to DPS in DS or to blast fields.
Daggers could give me better DPS when not in DS, I know, but I already have ascended axe and stuff made, and I don’t like being that close to things in fractals if I don’t have to, generates life force well enough too.
This works fairly well for me, but short of switching axe to dagger and replacing the Runes of Scholar with Runes of $$$trength, is there any way to make this more effective?
It happens to me every single time on Maw.
Yeah, I was looking for some leggings for my female norn, “Oh, I’ll get the cultural ones, the human cultural ones are pretty cool, so the norn ones probably are too”
No. All three tiers look nearly identical and the T3 is one of the more ugly ones to boot.
Having the same issue in Diessa Plateau; however, my friend is able to join me?

I thought healing signet was nerfed too much to be really practical and healing surge/defiant stance was the norm instead, I can see how there’d be a DPS drop if the heal skill were activated though, granted.
And yeah, I’m often pugging fractals (usually only warrior running with probably a necro, a ranger, thief, and an engi who have about 15 AR in a level 30 fractal -.- ) so I’d take Battle Standard over the Signet.
But yeah, FGJ + a Banner (and yeah, situation stuff whatever) but I usually run endure pain instead since HB can be difficult to land against some of the bosses, EP gives a few seconds to face tank it and blow cooldowns.
I think maybe I just came at warrior from the wrong perspective, since I usually play guardian and it’s all about juggling invulnerability there.
Yeah, so last I had heard healing signet had been nerfed and only people who were bad used it, so I switched it out, which lost some of the justification for the trait to support it.
I did hear somewhere though that one of the signets is bugged in a good way?
Anyhow, thanks for the justifications :p

Just curious on a couple of things, haven’t played in a while
Why did Restorative Strength get dropped from Strength 2 in favor of more vitality?
And what’s with the use of signets over utility now?
Ring of Fire server
NPCs stuck in the event “Protect the Krewe Leader,” which triggers, but does not progress.
There are no enemies in the area.
Golems to interact with for the heart are missing.
Only way to complete heart is to pick up items and place them in the chests, but the items randomly disappear, often after being picked up.
will probably guest on a different server or something to complete it, but you may want to look into what’s making the event hang up, as I suspect that’s what’s interfering with the normal completion of the heart
edit: after client patch, i think i was thrown on a different megaserver group or something, but regardless, i got it completed, but like i said, if the event hangs, it makes the heart almost impossible to complete

Renewed Justice is going to be kind of bad when roaming, as you won’t have the constant kills needed to make it worth anything.
Empowering Might and Writ of Exaltation are both going to be terrible as well, Hammer is going to be too slow to be stacking much might off of EM. And symbols are kind of bad against single players / small groups because they can always just move out of them unless you keep them locked down in it, in which case, the size of the symbol hardly matters.
I don’t really play much, if any, WvW, but if I were to, and looking to run both Hammer and Meditations, I’d probably start at something a little more like:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUQQNAS8dlUgiD3GSNEf4ES2DAIBXQrCC01DIKiaIA-j0CBYLBmiAhsAg+AOzMipmDZtMsIasKbYaXER1mzByiGWKAmUGB-w
(Maybe with a Scepter and Absolute Resolution trait on hand as well, stats on armor are probably off too, I’m not sure the ideal mix of stats for WvW, I do know the HP looks awful low with the setup I linked).
Honor and Zeal barely bring anything to the table for a meditation build.
Radiance does, but synergizes rather poorly with hammer, being a better fit for one-handed weapon builds. I think hammer builds usually run shouts instead, making honor a more useful traitline than it is for a meditation build.
He did say WvW roaming primary, with a bit of zerging too.
If you’re going to be solo, wouldn’t Focused Mind be better than Retributive Armor?
Also, at the expense of more sluggish hammer, you could drop Honor traits altogether and pick up Virtues for Stability off Virtue of Courage.
Also could go 10 into Zeal/Radiance for Vulnerability or sword crit or something.
If you’re set on using a hammer for PvE trash, you could use Focus off on alt weapon set, set down purging flames, focus #5, switch, hammer #2 onto mob and proc virtue of justice. That’s probably going to just leave you all set up with nothing left to kill though. :p
Personally, for open world PVE, I think Sword/Torch is the way to go, and that would get you more into zeal/radiance too, though as poster above mentions, greatsword is nice as well.
Or when you use the LFG tool, just look for a party with like 2 necromancers and a ranger in it. They won’t kick you no matter what your build is. -.-
Main thing about it is it doesn’t have 10 in consecrations with Wall of Reflection on the util bar.
But yeah, what is this build even for? It might be passable in a wvw zerg but it’s a really terrible PvE build.
Personally, playing hammer, Writ of Exaltation is kind of useless as a trait because the symbol will already cover anyone at melee range, and anyone at far range won’t be standing in it anyway. It also makes it easier to drop purging flames, step back, stack might, and re-engage without really having to go out of your way. Also helps to mediate some of the warrior QQ about your light fields.
Thank you!
I was actually cannibalizing another unrelated build and forgot to check the utility bar.
This is what I’ve now come up with, I see the damage gain from the 25 radiance (precision and the +10%), which while that does well justify it, it kind of bothers me taking a “useless” trait for the second major there, I mean, that’s like Inner Fire or Searing Flames at best? Though, I suppose +150 precision and +10% damage is worth it in itself.
Still a bit on the fence about accessories too, my armor is full berserker, with berserker back and amulet, knight earrings, and valkyrie rings. While this does certainly work for me, am I actually gaining anything by using the knight/valkyrie instead of berserker? All the other guardians in my guild run zerk gear/soldiers trinkets for the HP, which is admittedly rather low, but I just can’t really decide. (I’m like fractal level 17 atm and survive just fine, I just don’t know what anything is going to look like 30+ though)
Thank you!
this is what I’ve been running so far, and it has been working okay for me for now, kind of starting to feel as if writ of exaltation is a little unnecessary though, and a little questionable on the utility of writ of merciful
my goal is mostly level 31~40 fractals
is what i’m running alright, or should i change it a bit?
playing around with it a bit, 15/15/0/20/20 seems to be a nice variant without too many “useless” traits, maybe i’ll run with that for a bit?
thanks
(edited by Sera.6250)
also toughness plays a part in aggro draw, so you may end up dodging more in the end anyway
owowow! thank you!
need to get up to speed i suppose
thanks a lot for the link
I’ve just recently started doing fractals and dungeons on my warrior, wanted to make sure I’m built correctly for it so I can focus on learning how to run them without worrying about my build.
Berserker armor with Runes of Strength
Emerald Acc with Emerald Jewels (plan on upgrading this as I progress)
Greatsword / Longbow (also keep an axe/warhorn on hand)
Healing Surge
For Great Justice
Shake it Off
Signet of Stamina (Switched with Endure Pain / Bola / Bull Charge depending on situation)
Battle Standard
30/0/0/10/30
Restorative Strength
Slashing Power
Berserker’s Strength
Lung Capacity
Warrior’s Sprint
Mobile Strikes
Heightened Focus
Any tips? And I’ve noticed there’s a good deal of ranged stuff that needs to be done, is Longbow really the best I can do? I could switch Lung Capacity for Stronger Bowstrings (certainly could as needed), but I don’t see how that will help the lowish DPS bow seems to do.
Thanks for any advice!
Is there a way to disable the prompt when disassembling green gear?
Green gear is really only useful as fodder, but there’s just so much of it that it takes like a day and a half to click through it all. Don’t have that kind of time on a quick break in the middle of a dungeon.
Thanks.
Girlfriend and I are in a guild currently, but a lot of people quit and there’s not enough around to run anything.
Jade Quarry server, not really interested in full transfer, but wouldn’t be against the idea if things work out well.
Not really interested in WvW or PvP.
Will use raidcall, vent, skype, or whatever.
EST available most weekdays/weeknights, but I’m not usually available weekends due to work.
I play a warrior (GS/LB) and I also have a well/mark necro. GF plays a GS shatter damage mesmer. We both just recently hit 80 and so are working on gearing atm.
Not interested in speed runs and min/maxing, but would very much like to regularly run dungeons and eventually build around mist progression.
Definitely not looking for an elite guild, but we are also both a little older and I drinks a bit, so a “family” guild is also maybe not ideal. Mostly looking for some warm bodies.
Thank you.
I was actually rather favoring that route for the same reason to be honest. Thanks.
Current build is
10 Curse = Focused Rituals
20 Death Magic = Greater Marks / Staff Mastery
20 Blood Magic = Mark of Evasion / Ritual Mastery
This leaves me with 20 points to play around with.
Should I take 10 Soul Reaping for Vital Persistence, 10 Blood Magic for Vampiric Rituals (and use with Bloodthirst), or 20 Spite for Death’s Embrace / Spiteful Marks, or should I just grab Terror?
Not really sure :s
Thanks for any advice.
