I can only answer for Elona. The “continent” is blocked from reaching Tyria due to the forces of Zhaitan and the forces of Palawa Joko fighting for control of Elona. Palawa Joko is an undead as well, but his forces are not under Zhaitan’s control.

Elona and Tyria are like Europe and Asia. They’re both on the same meta-continent (see attachment). Cantha is the continent that is in the far south of the map.
Maybe after we defeat Zhaitan, then we can go to battle against Palawa Joko’s forces in order to “free” Elona. That could make for an interesting expansion story.

I don’t know if this will have any real effect on anything, but it’s just a thought that occurred to me while perusing the forums.
Does it seem to anyone else that the majority of complaints against GW2 are precisely the same reasons everyone was for GW2 initially? What I mean is that players are complaining because GW2 does not have the trinity class style, mounts, raids, etc. Isn’t the “old” style of MMO the very reason why we wanted GW2 in the first place? I keep getting the impression that people are really asking for ANet to make GW2 exactly like the old MMOs – they just don’t realize that that is precisely what they’re asking for.
Again, just something to consider. This isn’t meant as a “whine about the whines” thread; it’s just meant as a thread for people to consider the ramifications if ANet were to implement every complaint that has been made so far. “Take it to its full-drawn conclusion,” so to speak.

One of my biggest “likes” about GW2 is the absence of raids. The meta-events fulfill the “take down the big bad mojo” element of raiding without forcing someone to experience the “second job” element that often comes with raiding: “be here at X time, have X buffs, we’ll be in there from X to Y for Z amount of days this week, etc.” I love the fact that ANet did not include raids. That’ s just my opinion on the topic though.

Skritt – definitely. I would SO play a skritt.
Centuars – eh, maybe.
Kodan – that would be interesting, but they seem a little too self-opinionated for my tastes.
Hylek – that could be interesting
Krait – that would definitely be another option

For me, I could not go back to a “standard” MMO for a couple of reasons.
1) Exclamation Point hunting
2) Self-centered gameplay (mob tagging, kill stealing, etc.)
3) Raids
4) “Go Fetch” quests that are pointless
5) Lack of a personalized story
6) Being confined to only one style of play (tank-dps-healer, etc.)
I know that anyone can find opposing reasons to these, but that is that individual’s opinion, and I’m not really interested in it. These are my reasons.

This question is more for the developers, but anyone who has received an answer on this may answer as well.
I have a toon that I want to remake. I have a bit of karma on that toon that I don’t want to waste. I want to know if I buy items for karma to use for skins, is that in violation of any rules? Note: I am not looking to transfer the karma into coin. I just would like to utilize the skins on the new character. The new toon will have the same name, same class, etc. Before I do this, I want to make sure that it is not a violation/exploit/etc.
Thanks in advance.

Attached is a screenshot with the Sylvari Tier 1 Cultural Weapon vendor. I will make a second post with the Asura Tier 1 Cultural Weapon vendor. Essentially, both vendors have the exact same gear. The sylvari tier 1 weapons are missing.
