Tank and heal without the trinity

Thank God there’s no holy (hanna) trinity!

If you want that, go play either GW1, wow, or the other 13 million games out there.

In this game your more responsible for your own actions, and more than likely to be found to be either good player of bad player. Like the person who has his or her toon stand in the lava, and expects the healer to just heal them while the rest of the party die’s

It’s one thing to make a mistake, I mean we all do and learn from it, but it’s a whole different one when certain others don’t.

I like the way the dwarves look in GuildWars 1.

I’d say the best thing to check out is maybe joining a guild.
Go to the “Guilds” section on the forums here, there’s a lot of people like yourself that are looking to run with others while playing. Post what you’d be interested in.
I did and I received a lot of replies.

Elementalist Roles in Dungeons?

1st off it’s your toon, play what you want and how you want.
Me personally when it comes to playing this class, I’m constantly switching elements plus every weapon load-out.

Best class for a beginner?

I think it depends on your playstile:

If you want to learn game mechanics fast and don’t mind the difficulty then go with Elementalist, you will have to use combos, boons and conditions to be effective.

If you want an easy toon then go warrior or ranger, they are almost mind numbing easy to play.

If you want something in the middle ground play a guardian, they are easy to learn and can combo quite well.

Whatever your choice be sure to read these wiki pages: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boon

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition

Those three pages will teach you more about GW2 than anything else, but a lot of game play experience.

I couldn’t have stated it any better.
This game really is different than others, so it would depend on what you like whether it’s melee or spell-casting or a combo of both.
I’d recommend starting out with two toons, that way you can trade off and get a feel for melee/spell-casting, plus not get burned out just playing on one all the time.

If you’re just looking for any particular weapon that’s big then I’d suggest a the unique rifle: Charrzooka. Here’s what it looks like and on an asura, well, it’s bigger than your char.

Thanks for the heads up. lol
I could use the rifle to hide under.

I created a toon from every race and class, played them to around level 10.
Have to say I liked the Asura, one race I thought I would never play.

Somethings funny about a tiny little humanoid carrying about a sledge hammer bigger than him.
l especially love the animation when he leaps up in the air to pile drive that hammer on the creatures head he’s fighting with.

Changing headband color?

I was wondering the same thing.
When I created my toon I tried to go with a neutral colour.
I won’t pay real $$ to change colour but it would be nice in the future for us to be able to dye it another colour.

Well, after the debacle of the starting event (and not getting any loot from it). I decided to completely ignore everything else associated with the Lost Shores event and have done so to this day.

Please don’t let the next event be FuBAR as well.

I’m avoiding it like a kissing monkey with canker sores!

Would you reccommend GW2 to a friend?

Singh.8206

I had mentioned GW2 to friends, they had played WOW for years but had stopped because they were tired of all the gear grinding.
I pushed the fact that GW2’s promise was what sold me, that there would be NO gear grinding.

So NO, I will not.
As a matter of fact, I’ll be telling other people not to buy the game since Anet lied.

Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

For me I have a wonky schedule, wouldn’t be fair to others.
Work 50 + hrs. wk
Taking a couple college classes in the evenings.
Taking care of a sick family member
I’m also the kind of person that needs to learn all the in’s & out’s of a game.
So with that being said I’ll help someone when they ask, also the guild I’m currently in seems pretty good and should you need help with something all you’d have to do is ask.

There are a few separate elements that tend to get mixed up.

1) The manifesto and all interviews that say this game is not about a treadmill. By itself this turn around came without warning and just is a complete 180 on your original course. By itself that is a slap in the face for many people like myself. I don’t like surprises like this because you broke a promise. That’s what your manifesto was, you should’ve realised that when you released it.

2) The actual effects of the FotM dungeon on the community. Aside from actually implementing a treadmill, be it very basic to begin with is also done in a way that is splitting the people who are still playing it seems.

3) Also adding stats to the infusion upgrades and adding a new tier really gives the game a new feeling, one I don’t like. I can’t log in anymore because of it.

4) Then the issue of communication. You respond to the bugs during the weekend but haven’t addressed specifically point 1 here. You cannot convince me that you didn’t expect this kittentorm, but you chose to let it just hit and stay silent on it. Just one attempt at easing people’s minds which totally didn’t help because of what was implied more than what was said and really ignores the key issue: You made a promise and didn’t keep it and have been acting as if nothing happened. That reeks of intent.

5) You wanted to make GW2 and let GW1 be and were excited about creating a persistent world. So you made one. Guess what, you have now sealed the fate of the persistent world by making sure people are either in WvW or FotM / LA. You might as well close down the persistent world and give people access to dungeons from LA and let them level in WvW.

I just don’t get what you did here, but to me it’s a big failure. You see, even if you took a million precautions, a lot of people just won’t believe you anymore when you say it’s not that bad and we are making sure it won’t affect casuals…Why would they believe you when you so obviously broke a promise and then refuse to address as if you are hiding something?

That just feels like either malicious intent or incompetence to handle communication. Either way, it’s not very encouraging for the future.

I totally agree with the post above not to mention others that have posted their unhappiness!

It was poorly planned/thought out.
You have to remember that we as people have a real life and things we have such as job, family, and other obligations takes precedence over a game.

I have a job, it requires me to be there from this this time until this time in order for me to get $.
Now, I’ve paid you to entertain me and you thought this was a good idea? To make me be online in the game at a certain time or lose out on something, not to mention the that it was very buggy.

Please don’t try to make me play when “you” want me to, because if you do and I’m only speaking for myself, will be finding something else to do with my free time and $.

I talked friends into buying and playing this game, now I feel like a totally idiot for it!

What? Did you want Anet to base the event around your schedule specifically?

For a proclaimed adult with such a busy schedule and family to take care of, you sure have the maturity of a child with self-entitlement issues.

Reply: Anet is the one that came up with a schedule, not me.

Reply: I don’t know what your problem is with me? I didn’t sell you something for $$ with the a promise of something they would not do and then turnaround and do it.

Reasons you like your Asura

I am now totally hooked on my Asura! I know I’m not the only one so I wanted to see why everyone else likes them.
My main reasons are:
1. When I dodge she looks like Yoda jumping around
2. The unnecessarily large vocabulary aka “structural integrity has been compromised”
3. So cute and sarcastic

Started out Asura, then tried all the other races in all the classes.
Ended up deleting and and going back playing Asura.
My reasons are the same for the most as Chocomamma’s, I also have to admit I love the way my warrior looks carrying around this gigantic hammer and smashing the crap out of creatures. lol

Has been harass by another race/player?

Hello all, :o)
Little about me: In my 40’s, I’ve played GW1 on and off since it 1st came out, also played WOW for a few years (grew to dislike it). Diablo 2 (not touching 3), Torchlight & many others throughout the years.
Usually online anywhere from 16:00 to 21:00 p.s.t. Mon-Thurs, Anytime Fri-Sun.
Interested in joining a guild that has members in their 30’s, 40’s and up.
Something like Teamspeak or Vent etc.. would be nice.
People that play to have fun but also have a real life outside of the game.
Joke around & have a sense of humour, just so long as it’s not at someone else’s expense.
I don’t care one way or another if the guild has a website or not. meh
Willing to change servers since it’s still free.
