Would it be in bad form to make this a faux CDI thread on guilds? I’d love to hear some other people’s ideas on the guild system as a whole.

Guilds as we all currently know them are a great place to jump in to get parties of like-minded people to play the content in this game. However, I see a few problems with influence and how it is gained, roster management, and mailing and suppression.

Influence

Influence is the biggest problem affecting the ability for a guild to build upgrades, missions, buffs, ETC. More people want a fully upgraded guild than to help build a guild. This forces the leadership of said guilds to enforce a 100% representation policy in order to actually build the guild up. This isn’t good as it makes the end user of the guild feel forced into one guild in a game where you can be in up to five at a time and forces guilds to be PvX in order to attract most players to the guild.

I think the solution is simple, every guild a player is a part of gains influence from events everyone in the guild completes. The only difference should be that the guild one represents at the time gains +10% more influence from all sources. Representing should still be necessary for using the influence consumables and buying influence.

This way, every guild gains influence from the members’ actions and 100% representation rules are no longer necessary thus making everyone happy.

The Roster

There’s hardly any way to tell how active guild members are unless one uses the achievement leaderboards to see if the player has earned any AP lately. This gets rather tedious for larger guilds. The solution is simple, either add a ‘last logged in’ date or, better yet, make a statistic that tracks influence individual members have gained for the guild in a set time frame such as all time, this year, this month, this week, this day.

Mailing and Suppression

Mailing to guild members is more hassle than it’s actually worth. Most guild leaders I’ve come across would love to inform via mail of a promotion, demotion, kick, or ban, but if more than one person is promoted, demoted, kicked, or banned suppression sets in after the first two messages. I propose a guild mailing system. This in an alternate tab in the mailbox that shows mail addressed to the player from all guilds they are a part of. This system can’t be suppressed, though should be under the guild permissions to set a minimum rank to start sending out guild mail.

Simplified

  • Influence needs a rework to make being part of multiple guilds viable for guild owners and other players
  • The Roster needs a way to notify guild owners of the player participation and activity in their guild
  • There needs to be a guild wide mailing system.

GPU Died. Need a New One. Suggestions?

do not change screen resolution . there is not need and you will not benefit from it .

check my sig link and read how i can play with an old amd cpu and old gpu and have stable and good fps even in www maps at 1080p . medium textures are the best textures for the game in all situations .

i recommend change your settings to :

Animation: medium
Antialiasing: None
Environment: medium
LOD Distance: Medium
Reflections: none
Textures: medium
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: Medium or low
Shaders: low
Postprocessing: low or medium
Character Model Limit: medium
Character Model Quality: medium

Best Texture Filtering
Effect LOD

also . keep in my mind that the fps number you have depends more from sound settings and cpu than the gpu . if you set them the last 3 bars to lower in sound options ( not the sound levels but the sound processing ) you will have better and stable fps

I play more than just Guild Wars 2 and my backup GPU can’t play over half of my steam library on lowest settings, so I need to upgrade it.

OP – whats the rest of your PC?

You gave us a budget of 500~; while we can rec a good GPU to meet your needs, its possible you can upgrade other areas with in that budget.

As said, the HD7790 and the R7-260X will fit your needs perfectly($99-$129). To get into a Nvidia that meets those specs you need to look at the 660 or 750TI($129-$179).

With my system specs (HD7790, OC to 1850Core, 2100Mem Currently) I get between 90-165FPS, with Dives down to 25-30 for Zerg Content. In the new LA crap I get 45-75 depending on where I am at. Just to give you a couple examples.

Keep in mind, the lows on this game are all CPU bound.

And I would recommend a CX500 for the PSU if you already dont have a 500W PSU.

The rest of my PC is fine and I understand that my CPU might be a bottleneck, but what I need the most now is a new GPU and PSU as the GT 520 I have only has 2Gig DDR3 vRAM and is rather slow.

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. You’ve given me a place to start looking.

So my previous GPU decided it wanted to play checkers and died and now I’m stuck playing GW2 on lowest settings at 720p with my back-up GPU. I’m here asking what set ups you use and if you know about any decent power supplies and GPUs that don’t exceed $550 and meet most of my preferred settings.

Settings I’d prefer:

Minimum Screen Resolution: 1440×900 Anything smaller than this makes GW2 more about the HUD.

Preffered FPS: 60 fps in dungeons.

Animation: High
Antialiasing: None
Environment: High
LOD Distance: Medium
Reflections: Terrain and Sky
Textures: High
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: Medium
Shaders: Medium
Postprocessing: None
Character Model Limit: Low
Character Model Quality: High

I’m looking for a guild that specializes in organized dungeon runs, is not 100% rep, and preferably on Tarnished Coast. I have two level 80s, a warrior and a guardian with the guardian being my main. Contact me by either private message, ingame mail, or leaving a post here.

Can We Zoom Out Further, Please?

I love this idea.

And arrow carts could be adjusted with a maximum distance the AoE can be placed from the arrow cart. No line of sight needed, the AoE just needs to be within a certain distance.

Jumping puzzles won’t change as you need to zoom in on some parts.

The only place I can think of that would get a problem from an increased camera zoom would be PvP because it would increase the field of view making it so you can see all around you at all times.

Berserker Gear Add On Idea

Is this a troll?
Zerkers already have a survivability stat penalty. They don’t get the vitality, toughness or healing power other gearsets recieve.

yet people still run 5 man teams to steamroll everything in full zerker… outside of wvw and spvp in MAIN pve this is the idea to form more build diversity, so no im not trolling, im just thinking of the other players sick of zerker this and zerker that. this way they keep their damage and steam roll-ability yet would stress having support of the non zerker kind.

The people who main a build with zerker gear also know how to play the class and speed run (not speed clear*, there is a difference) dungeons. Utility is gotten from the, get this, 3 utility skills that are default bound to 7, 8, and 9. Teams of zerkers also bring an ele for fire fields because blast finishers in fire fields give 3 stacks of might for 20 seconds, and the party composition usually has enough blast finishers to get 25 stacks of might. Most of the damage comes from stacking might and conjured weapons which any party with a competent conjure ele can do.

I can tell you this; the bad people who refuse to learn enemy patterns and their class, no matter what build they use, no matter what stat combination they have on their armor will ALWAYS get downed and will never ‘steamroll’ anything.

There are a few problems with this game that make zerker so viable for skilled players; One, the trait line tends towards damage & support to be one in the same. The utility that a pure support can provide can be done in zerker gear with the prime example of this being the zerker guardian build; Two the enemy AI doesn’t react towards what the you or the party does, most of the enemies don’t buff, most of the enemies have no way to deal with stacking, and all of them will just stand in one place while taking severe damage which brings me to my next point; Three, defiance on bosses ruins any builds built around CC with most stuns only lasting a couple of seconds and no way to make them last longer outside of sigils and a few traits; Fourth, dodges render CC on mobs almost completely useless. You can easily avoid all spike damage and endure the small hits.

*Speed clearing is killing every monster in a dungeon as opposed to speed running which is just running by most monsters in a dungeon using mobility skills and invulns.

Zerker nerfed, allow us to swap asc gear

This seems like a poorly made bandaid to a bigger problem; monster AI. You see, the reason Zerker is so powerful right now is that the AI is dumb enough to stand in front of you while you unleash your hard hitting moves. They don’t block your spike damage, they don’t move out of AoEs, they don’t scatter from your hundred blades, and they hardly ever buff themselves. The AI just sits there and tries to tank the damage until they die. This makes control pretty much useless as you don’t need anything to hold the mobs in place while you smack at them. Now this is fine in most places in the over world, but unacceptable in dungeons where you should be fighting the elite enemies.

In short, buff the AI of enemies in dungeons and future content, and you’ll see more build diversity. Sure, most players will still utilize full zerk when they learn it, but they won’t all utilize exactly the same build.

Shield/Focus 5 seems reversed?

in Guardian

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

Warrior Shield 5 with 10 points into defense reflects projectiles for 3 seconds.

Don’t even dare to say that you lack projectile reflection as a guardian. Just don’t.

I wasn’t. I was simply comparing the shield skills of a warrior to the shield skills of the guardian. The guardian doesn’t get to block melee attacks and projectiles with their shield while the warrior does block both types of attacks with minor investments in defense.

December 10th Warrior Changes

in Warrior

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

The problem I’ve seen with my stun warrior is that with the Fury boon, my armor stats, and the +50% crit chance from Unsuspecting Foe, I can get 117% crit chance with at least 60% extra damage per hit for two seconds. Unsuspecting Foe should just give fury for 10 seconds upon stun with an internal cooldown of 15 seconds. Right now, it isn’t the problem with the damage the hammer does, it’s the fact that when an enemy gets stunned by a warrior the warrior gets a 100% crit chance for the entirety of the stun chain. In short: The crit percent from the current meta build is too kitten high, specifically since warriors have almost permanent fury uptime with a ~47% base crit chance.

Which is stupid as I’ve stun-lock killed pretty much every class.

Don’t get me wrong, there are counters to this build. For one, any amount of stability will completely negate the CC and stealth can prevent the CC from hitting you. Last I time I played in WvW most zergs had Guardians giving out stability and Mesmers giving out veil with the guardians partied up with the classes that don’t have easy access to stability.

Stun warriors also give up a lot of on-demand mobility by using a hammer/mace+shield. The hammer burst isn’t up right away, the mace has no leaps to close distance, and shield has a short range charge that takes a couple seconds to connect, and about half a second at point blank.

Now when they activate “OP Mode” where they have Berserker Stance, Endure Pain, and Stability, there’s not much you can do other than kite. Endure pain only lasts 4 seconds, afterwords any attacks that deal raw damage will work. The problem comes from Berserker Stance lasting 8 seconds. The raw damage immunity from Endure Pain only lasts 4 seconds. Berserker Stance lasts too long compared to the other damage mitigation stance Endure Pain. I suggest making Berserker Stance 4 seconds and grant 1 extra tick of adrenaline per second to compensate.

In PvE the all the hammer warrior has going for it is the super effectiveness against any mob aside from champion mobs or better because they have defiant which renders CC completely useless after the initial CC hit. Defiant stacks on bosses and some bosses being completely immune to CC completely destroy any CC builds, especially in dungeons. My suggestion is to make it so CC gets less effective the more you use it in quick succession on a boss. Spamming CC would make it progressively get more and more resistant until it’s just immune to CC. This promotes thoughtful use of CC to interrupt the dangerous moves, but doesn’t leave the boss open to be permanently CCd.

In short: CC damage comes from the crit damage percent. Nerf the crit chance trait is a good idea.

Berserker Stance lasts twice as long another damage mitigation utility; Endure Pain rendering any condition builds helpless. Nerf Berserker Stance to 4 seconds and give it 1 extra tick of adrenaline per second.

Defiant and Unshakeable ruin CC builds in PvE. After the initial stun, the boss is completely immune to CC. I suggest a resistance that scales with how much CC has been used on it during the fight.

Shield/Focus 5 seems reversed?

in Guardian

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

Warrior Shield 5 with 10 points into defense reflects projectiles for 3 seconds. Also, if you stand opposite a projectile with a warrior blocking in the middle, the warrior blocks the projectile.

Of course this isn’t nearly as large as the shield bubble from the guardian shield, but warriors can deflect the projectiles and are immune to pretty much everything else while moving.

I would like to see shield tweaked for guardian to be on par with warrior shield at least when traited.

Ascended Equipment Solution

in Suggestions

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

So I was thinking about the ways you can acquire exotic and ascended items, barring trinkets for obvious reasons. You can get exotic and ascended equipment from world events and guild mission chests, you can craft both exotics and ascended, but you can’t run fractals to acquire said weapons and armor while you can run dungeons to get exotic weapons and armor.

I find this to be rather strange that a piece of equipment generally used in fractals isn’t acquired from fractal vendors, and instead, from crafting. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find crafting to be extremely boring, and would gladly waste the same amount of time running fractals with good friends than using the crafting interface.

So here’s the solution: add all of the weapons, armor, and (maybe) trinkets to the ascended vendor in the fractals hub with prices that are a mix between pristine and normal relics. This way the people who enjoy doing fractals, yet detest crafting, can acquire the new weapons and armor sets.

Alternate Solution: Adding an ascended tab to the dungeon vendors and making the cost pristine fractal relics and 2-3x the amount of dungeon tokens for the same piece in exotic.

[Merged]Stun warrior meta

in Warrior

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

Mace 3 takes about 15 seconds to cool down, Shield 4 takes about 25 seconds to cool down, both bursts take 7 and have obvious animations, Hammer 3, 4, & 5 all have obvious animations, 4 & 5 take a while to cool down even when traited. Stealth, Fear, Blind, Evades, Confusion, Mesmer Illusions, Ranged kiting, etc. work on stun warriors.

Basically if you’re 1v1 a stun warrior without stun breaks and you improperly use your other skills with evades, of course you’re going to die by perma-stun. Though, I’m certain if you went up against any class 1v1 and you had no stun breakers and failed to dodge correctly, you’d die.

Also, on the topic of zergs, if you see one, don’t stand in place waiting for them to run over you, because they will no matter what class they are.

You like the new content for WvWvW? Yes-No

in WvW

Posted by: Sir Alymer.3406

Sir Alymer.3406

I did some WvW today, and I have to say that the ruins really didn’t spread the zergs out. There’s still large zergs roaming, just now there’s 16-20 people roaming around the center keeping the bloodlust buff.

The strategy has already been made; Two groups of 8-10 people roam around the ruins capturing the points while there’s still a large zerg going around capturing keeps. Only now the zerg has a minimum permanent +50 to all stats.

So no, I don’t like this new WvW update.

So the whole point of this thread is to see how much damage you have done to those poor ambient creatures roaming the world.

I’ve gotten it to 1,669,078, but how much have you gotten?

Pics would be nice, though not required.
