Gear in GW2 is almost exactly like other MMOs. Better stats = better performance.
The main difference is that you have more freedom to choose what stats you want to stack.Gear progression exists in GW2. There is a carrot on a stick when it comes to gear.
Difference with GW2 compared to other games is once you get to 80 and get exotic gear. Once you get that it just depends what kind of stats you want and everything else is just visual and not really more “powerful”. So carrot is mainly just to look cool rather then to make content easier.
Until they release new gear with better stats and visuals…
If they do that. Don’t think they did that in GW1 and they had lots of expansions. Visuals of course but that is kind of optional.
I was checking the TP, does that not have all the gear on it ?
Kind of depends what people are selling. But yes I guess it could potentially have everything on it. Also you won’t see huge differences in gear types at lvl 1-20. Take a look at the higher level gear or cultural stuff.

Speaking of Gear, there’s a hugh lack of it, I keep wearing the same gear throught lv.1-20, no real variety…
the guns are the same ( engineer )
Try going to a different area. Gear drops are different depending on if you are in human or charr or asura area and so on. I find most stuff looks very different. If you just keep killing the same bandits and centaurs over and over you won’t get much variety
Kind of depends what you mean about finishing. If you mean getting 100% in PVE world then yes maybe. Quite a few people have that already but I think that took most a few hundred hours. Having to pay 5-10 euro a month for new content kind of sounds like a sub fee. And other games with a sub fee very few can give out enough content each month to keep everyone busy. So doubt it will work here. Would be nice but don’t think they can do it.
I kind of agree with you when it comes to events. Some are pretty boring escort or collection stuff. However at higher levels a lot of them start a chain of event. Like first one maybe is gather stuff for some guy, next step escort that guy, then guard him while he does something and so on. And finally maybe a big boss or such spawns. Usually they take a small “break” between each step. So if you escort them and then run off you kind of miss the next steps. Also just because you don’t have to talk to NPC doesn’t mean you can’t. They usually give a bit more info about what they are doing and why.
When it comes to the tradepost the costs are set by other players. I don’t understand it either but for some reason people like selling things really cheap. But I think prices will stabilize once people start selling junk to the vendor and not putting them up for 1 copper more on the TP.
Not sure what level you are but combat and events do become more epic the higher level you become. But still don’t expect them all to be big bosses. And if you do find a event don’t leave too early and miss all the good stuff.
Fully agree with this. Would be really nice to be able to collect and swap skins without having to run dungeons again to get the original item back for transmuting.
Well not rly, as long as u move its hard to get stuned with that sword/pistol combo. HS is lot worst since he practicly teleport u on target and hit it and has insta cast.
Both are kind of easy do dodge if you know they are coming. But the stun one usually combined with a shadowstep like steal and before you can react you are dead. Well at least when I am on my Ele. HS on the other hand they need to spam a few times to actually kill you and during that time you still have control of you character.

“You just don’t know the counter to the class.”
Thieves aren’t dungeon bosses. When was the last time you heard someone say “Oh man, I can’t beat this Elementalist. It’s so fast and deadly. I wish I knew the counter for it.” Same for almost any other class.
Yes maybe some some skills need balancing. Not only for thief but for all classes. But let’s be honest HS is not so OP that it always give the thief a instant win and impossible to counter. When looking at thief I would say that sword/pistol skill, can’t remember name, is way worse. The one that stuns you and does some flurry is way harder to deal with then HS.
I don’t mind the downed state but I really don’t like the Rally feature. Having people downed is fine but having all of the enemy pop back to life at once because one person dies is just plain annoying.
If you know there are a lot of HS spamming thiefs and that is your main concern in spvp why not make a build that can counter it? You can even change utility skills during a match. Out of combat ofc. So if you see a HS theif then equip a extra CC skill or blind or something else useful. After a few failed HS spamms they will be out of initiative and pretty useless.
Best way to get them (I think) is to kill people. And the “safest” and fastest way to do that is to defend a keep. Stand on the wall and drop oil on people zerging the door. Or use any big AoE.
Heartseeker is a spammable execute combo finisher combined with a short range gap closer which increases in damage inversely to an opponent’s health.
Overall the PvP in this game eschews spammy ‘iwin’ mechanics, yet this ability stands out dramatically from the rest. I’ve had players spam it 5 times in a row, taking off upward of 50%+ of my hp bar. Given a player can only dodge 2, maybe 3 times maximum, it seems rather imbalanced to have it remain in-game as it stands.
Getting hit 5 times in a row by any direct high damage skill, no matter class will most likely bring you below 50% HP. Try combining a dodge with a blind, or root, stun or knock them back. Even though the skill lets you jump to opponent the range isn’t very far and if they try it again out of range they just wasted a lot of initiative. Also don’t just backpeddle, it’s very slow. If you see a one jumping you then try dodging then turn and run don’t just just slowly walk backwards. If it takes them 5 hits to get you to 50% HP that is plenty of time to counter it.
I have much bigger problems with warrior. They will charge me, stun me and do some kind of flurry and I’m dead before I can even react. 5 Hits with no CC shouldn’t be a problem.
