Since the patch my guild mates and I had more lags, more crashes and more performance based issues.
Yesterday on a 3 hours raid I had 2 crashes and 3 disconnections, but mostly an uncountable number of lag spikes.
My specs :
Win8
i7 3770k @3.5ghz
780GTX @ 3Gb
16Gb RAM
30Mb dowload internet speed.
Arenanet it has been proven before that the performances issues of Guild Wars 2 comes from your end of the rope. Please WAKE THE kitten UP and do something about it.
Got two crashes on Niflhel yesterday
1k3 is the number of post in a topic (in this forum) that has for name “Skyhammer”.
From those post most of them are complaining about the viability of this map in tournaments and most of all SoloQ.
This is a flagrant proof of you, Arenanet, not paying attention to your customers, this Arenanet, is an insult to each of those players.
Mercifull Intervention unusable in water combat because of that new gameplay it has.
Well disabling the antivirus indeed resolved the problem for me.
Now may I ask ArenaNet, why are you trying to put a virus in my computer ?
I’m sure it’s because of the new colors for the commander tags, it’s just too much of a big change the launcher of the game can’t handle it.
What I said is that you can’t have a rank 39 and have a single clue of what’s going on in WvW, it’s like saying you know something about pvp when you just hit rank 10. We will talk about you seeing things when you will actually pass time looking.
This is a really good idea and thank you for doing this.
I was asking myself lately if the dev team is actually playing Guild Wars 2, so this is gonna be a good time to find out.
@Pdavis : You are lvl 39 and give your opinion on something you have no idea of. It takes about two weeks to get to your level, you may have played less than 30 hours on WvW and you want to argue about a gamemode you have no idea of ? Speak about things you didn’t even experienced yet ?
No I don’t care that you don’t play WvW much, I don’t care about you disliking WvW, I do care although when you quote me to tell me I am wrong when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Don’t come and tell that you feel that WvW players estimate those changes you quoted as big changes when you are clearly not a WvW player. Don’t tell you didn’t felt any decline in population when you have been playing this mode for the last week or so.
You almost made a point when you said that it’s normal that people get tired of a game/gamemode, but you didn’t take in consideration one big factor : Anet’s positioning towards this game/gamemode. Of course people naturally leave a game after playing hours on it, but in the case of GW2 there is another reason for it, making the dying process faster : Anet.
Game isn’t dying cause it’s Guild Wars 2, game is dying cause it’s Arenanet doing sh—- with it.
Guild Wars 2 has the most entertaining pvp gameplay you can find, but has the worst dev team you can find. Just look at what they did for pvp : four new maps in total, one was completely deleted from the game, one that people prefer to avoid, one that people totally hate, and one that could have been better if only bigger. What they did for WvW : bringing more and more pve mechanics each time (sucesses, leveling, farm map) and only one pvp mechanic cause of some drama caused a while ago – obsidian’s arena.
You can feel in Guild Wars 2 that the gameplay has the biggest potential in pvp and in WvW, so all the players ask themselves, why the hell is Anet focusing on PvE, and doing sh—- with PvP and WvW all the time ?
@ Pdavis & EnemyWhatever
Five facts that will show you that WvW is dying (cauz we talking about Gw2 in the subforum of WvW)
Get a feeling from the devs that they make WvW more about successes and karma train than for good fights – tournaments and EotM are the proof.
Get a feeling from the devs that they make WvW more like a “seasonal type of gameplay” – understand that from the tournaments, when all the features for WvW came with those, and that as soons as it is finish you don’t get anything, not even bug fixes, exploit fixes, hackers ban or lag correction.
Get a feeling from the devs that they laugh at you hard when they call colors on commander tags BIG CHANGES, or when they say that they are exited about attributes on a siege weapon.
Play WvW a bit more (I don’t want to insult you both but I am pretty sure your experience in that mode is pretty poor) get in a teamfight guild and try to find proper fights – it’s harder and harder as guilds and players just leave the game around you.
Look on the WvW forums and try to find actual evidence of dev presence outside of what is called the “periods of acting” (just before a patch like now)
And now just for you #EnemyWhatever, how can you even speak about data when you don’t even bother looking for yourself? Here are two polls that took place on gw2wvw.net (I’m pretty sure you don’t even know that website) :
First one asking if people were exited about the WvW features of the September patch :
64% answered they were unsure to NOT AT ALL – on a total of 726 votes.
Second one asking if the player though Guild Wars 2 is dying :
56% answered yes – on a total of 638 votes.
A sentence I see a lot lately coming from most of the hardcore WvWers I play with :
Gaym is ded
Anyone know what is causing this? The lag is still absurd.
Anet’s servs being sh—
I’m pretty sure the gold sinks implemented would not be present if runaway inflation was the goal, but….that’s just my thoughts.
You might find more opinions over in the BLTC sub-forum, though, as that is where most of the economy discussions take place. Good luck.
1 – No, the gold sink indeed work for the inflation.
2- This ain’t a talk about the economy, it’s one about the positions that Arenanet is taking with such an update.
The inflation is indeed a short term solution for the dying game. Not a long term one.
So my theory here is that Arenanet, with that new september patch, is trying to boost the inflation that already begun, to act very dangerously, around 6 months ago in the game.
For those who don’t know, the inflation is the process in witch prices gets higher, on most of the most used goods, like T6 & precursors in our game.
Now why do I say that Arenanet is trying to boost this inflation, let’s look on how (we will look at their motives later). Well that new September patch brings another way, for players, to buy the limited amount of goods, by so creating a demand that exceeds the offer, thus making the prices go higher.
Mini pets in wardrobe, collections, new trading post, everything is done in this objective (may it be intentional or not) to boost the inflation.
Why does the offer doesn’t goes up as fast as the demand? Well that is simple, in a perfect world, may it be IG or IRL, the primary goods can be harvested from known locations, as we are talking in game these locations shouldn’t be under any rules, so you can harvest as much as you want (IRL it’s different : there is a limited amount of materials on earth – but a quantity so high that this is not a factor that affect the inflation in such a little time). That is in a game that would understand the economy, but in Guild Wars 2 it’s different. Indeed there is no “farm spot” or those are very limited (by the farmcode), for primary goods like T6 mats – this is why the offer cannot substain the offer on this game that has 2 years old.
So we have seen that Arenanet is trying to boost the inflation, we have seen that the offer cannot substain the demand and why.
Now we are going to look at the motives they could have for doing so. And why, as a player, you don’t want this to happen.
Higher prices can drive players to stay in game more to get those goods, struggling to gain money little by little to buy something out of price.
This in my opinion is the main motive for boosting the inflation. This is not something that I, as a player, and YOU, as a reader but also a player, want to happen.
You don’t want to be used like that to stay in a game. We want to play a game that entertains us with new content, or hard content that puts a challenge – not something as stupid as doing the same things everyday to get a little money then struggle with that to substain yourself.
I hope I have opened your eyes on a critical issue that will slowly degrades the game if Arenanet doesn’t boost the economy, as a player based economy.

Discussions would be constructive, in these forums, if ARENANET could actually listen to the fact that WvW players are not satisfied with the lack of involvement of development in this game mode.
Another thread has been locked today, one of the many, a player asking what has changed since he left, players all around the world answering him by their feelings about the game, the BITTER feeling they have on their tongue, few hours later a moderator came to close the thread.
Another thread that will disappear “to clean the forums”, because everything is awesome in this game.
WELL NO. Complains and players opinion about the game, but more specifically this game mode WOULD BE CONSTRUCTIVE IF YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
SO MANY IDEAS were spread among the players on these forums, so many FIXES THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED have been reported, so many COMMUNITY EVENTS organised….
All to be neglected by the developers, all to be ignored.
I call for an end to this FALSE POLICY, an end to these LIES ARENANET is trying to SELL us players, but also future players.
How can you even describe those WvW serv tournaments as competitive ? There is nothing about competition in having more players+better coverage than other servers.
Try and imagine a sport game that says : Only the team with the most different nationalities and the biggest amount of players will win.
Can’t you understand that competition is supposed to be based on a simple fact : Teams must be equal.

BIG CHANGES TO COMMANDER SYSTEM ?
Big changes ?! Really ?!
Since most of the top guilds moved to Gold League, we are having tons of fun in Team Rucksack [RS] .
In this video I am trying to pass trough these moments of fun.
Enjoy !
You forgot to say that this is gonna be awwwwsome
@Prysin : talking about something you have never been part of seems a little… misplaced don’t you think ?
Why do you talk about actual decision making regarding the fitness of the group while you only raid PU, having knowledge from very poor sources of learning like videos and streams ?
Why do you talk about the viability of a class, that I am sure you played often, when you clearly don’t understand what other classes can do?
Why do you talk in a topic related to GvG when you have no personal experience ?
Why do you talk about something YOU DON’T KNOW OF.
Don’t reply, move along.
Third video of my season one, that will be called four elements (in reference of the elements hiding the chat box)
I used the info box hope you liked it.
It shows solo&scrimmage PoV my guardian.
Enjoy.
Won’t be long.
WvW is PvP.
Players want to test builds and meta like in any pvp game.
Players want to build groups.
Players are really bored of having to farm PVE to play WvW properly. Those are two different worlds, two different gameplays. Having to farm PvE for WvW is as stupid as having to farm PvE for PvP. Having to farm to have stuff in general is not a PvP nor WvW attitude.
Just put the same mode of equipment as there is in PvP, but with the ability to choose the stats you want on your armor and trinkets, from all the stats, runes, sigils available.
GvG scene is a very well known scene. Players look at GvG vids and streams a lot more than other videos.
Do something about it Anet !
I know, you may ask yourselves why such a title, it was planned for you to click on it, expecting another complain topic, but I will try to prove you wrong. The title was just here for you to start reading, and now that you are here – read, because what I am trying to do here may be in accordance with your point of view.
And even if my English is lacking some words, some grammar and even some syntax. I hope my point will be given in the next lines.
Fights – What was done and what should come now.
The fighting system of Guild Wars 2 has so much potential, we all agree in that. Aggressive and dynamic, as it was planned to be. So much could be done with it….
It all started with improvised GvGs on the borders of the World v World. Players would come with their friends, to fight other players – mostly other guild they have already fought against while trying to capture a structure – to see who is the best, on a siege weapon free zone.
It started to gain some popularity.
More and more players would start doing that, as they all acknowledge that the gameplay of Guild Wars 2, indeed showed them that work must be done to be better than the others.
Than, some guild gained some popularity, as they beat the others more often. Their ratio was better, undeniably putting them as “one of the bests”.
Videos and streams of this type of gaming would become popular, players started to talk and watch those players, struggling to show they are the bests.
Then an update was made to the Obsidian Sanctum, the Arena. Developers have finally answered the dreams of the players allowing them to fight in a good environment – giving them the first tool.
A GvG between two well trained guilds, gains popularity, as people come and watch to learn and enjoy the fasts and dynamics fights.
And now, unofficially, guilds are trying to put themselves as “Best EU” or “Best NA”…. and maybe “World Champ” guilds.
Why ?
Well because of those points we talked about that Guild Wars 2 Gameplay.
That aggressive and dynamic Gameplay. And the competitive spirit of the pvp players.
People want to fight, to compete with other players, in a scale far more suitable to the Gameplay of Guild Wars 2 than the pvp mode scale.
They want to see they are the bests not by points made by capture, not by flag carrying, but by the oldest of the means to see who is the best : total annihilation of the competitor.
What should come now.
Fights !
Yes fights, if the gvgs gains more popularity, the Obsidian Sanctum should become, and may already have, full of those incredible fights.
As it is, developers will start to see the attraction of such a mode, allowing them to show Guild Wars 2 as a very competitive game, with a profound gameplay.
Inevitably, tools will be made for the players. Allowing them to find matches and create teams, thus putting the second and third tools in the hands of the players.
Two simple tools, that will allow players to be fulfilled. And afterwards the ladder and tournaments.
Only then Guild Wars 2 will have no limits, allowing players to proudly show the game off to their friends. Putting Guild Wars 2 on the top pvp games pedestal.

Hi guys,
I wanted to show you my work in WvW, showing you the new trend of the roaming guard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7wji68zW7Q Solo, Small gang & Raid.
If you have questions on the build used in those video, feel free to ask.
TKS TSS and THS specialized in killing tequatl.
Today we made history : down at 7:42 remaining.
I really like Malloway.7382’s approach.
I must add that having a /wrank would be nice too, because we like to show off, but showing off to our friends not our ennemies ><
So many questions… Anet can’t you answer those ?
One of the last patches nerfed the animations of the skills in WvW for more “lisibility”.
So I am a commander in WvW, I have around 400 hours leading people, and I must say that this patch was one BAD PATCH.
So I know it is hard at the begining to understand what’s happening.
But Seriously ? Now how the hell I know now what zone i need to explose ? What zone is critical to avoid and what is’nt too bad ? How do i know if i need to tell my people to stop putting water zones ? Sometimes I can’t even see ONE zone ONE only zone putted to gain speed.
I can play (almost) full graphics quality even in WvW, of course i put animations in “High” in the settings.
Is that Guild Wars 2 programming ? Making things MORE COMPLICATED ?
And I do NOT speak about how the game became more unstable in WvW since then… Crashes and Deconnections.
People say the game is going trough the path of death, by killing it’s gameplay, I start to belive them.
The ideas, a resume:
=====
-Added squad commander and functionalities
-Added squad and command chat
-New joining system
-New hierarchy system
-Added group leader functionalities
-“click to join” functionality
-Improved orders system
-New reward system
That’s seems like a lot of things but in the end it isn’t. I think this is the start to make World versus World not just another massive pvp mode but a good one.
Thanks for reading and please post if you like or have some corrections for the devs to see! (three posts due to long text)
EDIT :
I give the permission to Arenanet and any other company working on the game Guild Wars 2 to take these ideas and act as if they are their own.
(edited by Stilk.6312)
? Now the joining system
As we need to do if as instinctive as possible, for casual players to fit in easily and the more experienced players to get in fast here is how I see a good joining system:
The UI should have a new window as you get into WvW: a joining window. This should show the divisions that are formed into the map. The player chooses witch division he wants to join, then a division and then the group (if not neither locked nor full). The player will be able to see what members are in a division/squad/group for him to find is friends easily. As well in the chat system there should be a “click to join group/squad/division” system. Let’s say I am a Group leader, I need two more people for my group to operate effectively, I go to my group window, shift+click the name to ping it in the local chat. Then all the people will see my group name in the chat and they just need to click for them to join my group.
Let say a new division commander arrived on the battle; he then can form a Division by inviting squad commanders to his new created one. This works as well for the squad commander.
? The changes in what you see :
In the map, the commander should be able to see every key person in the field. That means squad commanders, group leaders and other division commanders. Like this:
The squad commander should see the group leaders and the commander:
The group leader and a group member should see of course the commander and the squad commander:
A not in division player should see no change in his map.
? Chat changes :
Well like I told there should be the ability to ping a group/squad/division for “click to join” purposes. I also talked about new chats: the division, squad and command ones, let’s take a look, those work as easily as any other chat in the game, any player in the division can talk in the division chat, any player in the squad can talk in the squad chat, and any player in the group can talk in the group chat. How does both the division and squad commanders fit in? They have the command chat, in which only the division and squad commander can chat.
? Reward changes :
Well of course we need reward, if not why do such a thing as the division?
Commander gives an order to a group; group leader accepts order group members receive order. They now need to accomplish the order in a particular time. Why? For rewards! Cumulative rewards of course. Like drop bonuses on karma, gold, and insignias given in the event complement rewards.
For a group:
5 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on karma received for events
10 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on karma received for events
25 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on karma received for events
50 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on karma received for events
100 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on karma received for events
For a squad:
50 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on insignia drop rate
100 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on insignia drop rate
250 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on insignia drop rate
500 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on insignia drop rate
1000 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on insignia drop rate
For a division:
500 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on gold received for events
1000 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on gold received for events
2500 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on gold received for events
5000 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on gold received for events
10000 orders accomplished: +2% bonuses on gold received for events
So what it basically means that the more time a division is on the battlefield the more rewards it will have. Well yes! And the only possible way for a division to cease to exist is that the commander leaves it without nominating a new commander. Same for squads.
Hello everyone,
I am here to discuss and propose a more interesting system of leadership and communication in Guild Wars 2.
So the dev team made a beautifull work on the WvWvW, but I fear that this will not keep players playing it for a long time as it is too mutch causual oriented, witch is good, but no options are in for players who want to invest more time in it.
WvWvW is a strategy oriented war game, keeping dongeons under your control, taking towers to the ennemy, not falling into the trap of attaking an easy target as you won’t be able to keep it for a time. All this needs leadership and communication.
So the GW2 groups are 5 people groups… Great for small ambushes but not for real war stuff. So comes into play the Commander book and the squad system. Seriously? This is the stuff that you put into game to make WvW be a war game and not just a big pvp map? A small symbol above the head of the commander and a squad that nobody heard of it nor joins it? A map that displays only people that are around you even if you are a commander? There is like what, 100 people on the same side in a WvW map, and the communication system is done by the “map” chat?
I will stop whining and start proposing ideas, as I have a good experience in leading as well as IRL or in other games like EVE Online, which Arenanet dev team should learn.
The Ideas, an overview:
=======
? The hierarchy system :
As the grouping in Gw2 is 5 people like said over, the Squad system should work like an assemblage of those said groups into a bigger, but not just for beautifull purposes but also for communication. Every group having his own orders system, as the leader (and there should be a group leader in PVP as even the communist army has a general) can distribute them to his group, lock his group from the squad/division commander and give a group name. Then comes the squad leader (let’s say a 50gc book for being it should be good) that can make 5 people groups assemble under his orders, I think 3 groups should be good, he then can give orders to the group leaders, communicate to all groups in squad chat as the commander, move members from one group to another and give a squad name. Then comes the commender, that can assemble a division that would be consisted of let’s say 3 squads, making like this a 9 groups division. The commander can then: give orders to squad leaders, move members in the division to another part (group or squad), talk in the division chat as the commander and give a division name.
So here is the tree of the new hierarchy grouping:
1. Division Commander
1.1 Squad Commander
1.1.1 Group Leader
1.1.1.1 Group Member
1.1.1.2 Group Member
1.1.1.3 Group Member

So what do we need to do ? Wait untill patch released ? I want a refund on my tokens !
It does, for me a least, and on weekends it’s crazy…
Same problem here, high ping with 20mb connection, only on GW2…
Since the last update seems that people aren’t all getting the 60 tokens of the end of the explorable mode of a dongeon.
Some are getting 45 some 30 some even only 6…
When that bug will be corrected, will we (people that bug) get tokens back ? Or do we need just to wait untill the patch to not waste our time in dongeons ?
Besides, we can’t stack the tokens from the pre-patch with the new ones.
Please up this topic so devs’ will see.
So here we go in dongeons with our friends, then suddenly a deconnection, well you just go back in after you reconnect and continue the adventure. The problem rises when you arrive to the end : while your friends all get 60 tokens (when it doesn’t bug) you only get 45. Why ? Well because you deconnected, and even tho you friends waited for you, you aren’t worthy enoth to get all the 60 tokens.
Arenanet, that is a problem you REALLY should look forward to correct.
So at the launch of the game, there was some deconnections and lag troubles. I resigned myself with it, not living nor in europe nor in america knowing that the servers could make me some troubles.
But since a week, I get constantly lag problems followed by the code 7 . But that’s only when I succeed loading a map (apparently when you get a lag peak on loading you just can wait untill the end of the world…)
So ok I know we don’t have any servers for us here in Middle East, but you still sell the game here, my connection isn’t the problem (20mb), it has come to an outrageous point ! I can’t play the game at all, and i like this game ! I have 200+ hours on it !
Yes I tried all the forum “tricks” to play better and stuff, nothing is helpfull.
