Jekkt. I have tested it. The skill continues after the first hit is dodged. That’s what I meant by undodgeable. Skills shouldn’t channel after you dodge the initial animation.
Tell that to rapid fire.
As much as I hate rapid fire, it makes sense that you could get hit by it after dodging the initial hit. The same way you can dodge a portion of Drake’s Breath (DD Ele) and still get hit by the end of the skill, or Cone of Cold. Or that ridiculous Flame Jet from Flamethrower Engi.
Even a simple duel system in HotM would be awesome, you offer someone a duel, they accept, 5 second timer and boom you’re dueling until one person is dead. That is all. No need for a special instance, no need for anything of the sort. You want a 2v2? Have 2 people in each party. You want to learn to hold off a 2v1? Accept a 2v1 duel (duel prompt would have to say there’s 2 ppl in the other party). Would do LOADS to help people learn how to counter specific builds and toons.
Although I understand what you’re saying, they would have to make the dueling players a 2nd and 3rd faction, so other players’ random abilities/passive procs will not influence the duel. While in pve, there are closed interact-to-get-there “arenas”, you can’t cast from outside into it, perfect for duels.
And then you can add a betting system, ’cos it would be awesome!
I hadn’t thought of that, you’re very much correct sir. Ideally, making dueling players separate factions would be the most convenient, since you wouldnt have to load an instance, or get to a specifica place, etc.. You could literally fight anywhere.
However, that not being possible, you could just port people to these arenas when they both accept a duel.
Nah, all they have to do is add 1v1/2v2/etc. DM arenas into the mist so we can slaughter each other while waiting to “play”.. Ooops, I would never Q up again, sorry

Crafting stations would be very very very useful in HotM as well, can actually do something productive while waiting those 6 minute queues.
I also like the idea of being able to queue from and returning to PVE maps after pvping. Dont force a person into HoTM to sit around doing literally nothing useful.
Yes sure, they add “more challenging content” in hots for casuals? Problem with ANet is that they dont rly try… They dont rly test… As long as something seems fine it wont be changed… They wanted to make hard world bosses, every world boss has “easy way” to kill it, like boxes on golem. For god sake i remember in 1st bwe in this game was “inspect” button im ALMOST sure that im not wrong, they scrapped idea cuz ppl would see other builds, and After some long time they made so in Practice you can spect everyone build. Templates rly shouldnt be so hard to make but they dont even CONSIDER making it. Compared to gw1 gw2 offers almost no “create your own playstyle” in pvp. Unless you play the way according to meta you wont be able to tank nor deal enough dmg compared to other builds. I remember when i started playing this game, i tought that if i find my own playstyle and be rly good at it i will be revarded. What i got were kicks in dungs cuz “not meta build” flame in pvp cuz “not meta build/not working anymore” not working correctly spells, kittenton of ninjapatches that break game for 2/3 days. 2 Years of totaly ignoring pve 2 years of kittenting on pvp by devs(DUUUMBFIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE). What we get now is that ANet is pumping cash into ESL without balancing kitten, pve is repetitive as kitten and dont even get me started on zergwars in wvw. For some reason im still playing and rly i hope there will be a day that i will log in, get on my “working” s/d thief and start rolling vs ppl with same skill lvl not just idiot build that kills everyone on sight. What i want is OPTIONS, Beeing free to chose my own way without beeing flamed cuz its not “optimal way” every way should be OPTIMAL, EVERY build should have strengths and weakneses. Tell me why after playing like 2 years as s/d thief i must roll now Mesmer cuz it deals better dmg has better survi and does EVERYTHING better than thief. Where the kitten is balance team.
Uh… while you’re entitled to your rant I will say one thing:
Not every build should be “optimal”. Certain traits synergize better with each other and with particular skills and weapons than others. And that’s the way it should be to allow complexity and experimentation to the game, to mix and match weapons and traitlines to find what works for you.
For example, months before this re-worked system I was pvping with GS/Hammer on Warrior, even though it wasn’t meta. I did really well with it because people weren’t used to it, they expected me to hambow or shoutbow. Now a ton of Warriors play it due to the rework, a lot of people have figured out how to counter it (somewhat) and its harder to play.
As far as options go, GW2 has plenty for each class with the different weapons and traitlines. The fact that some are more suited to some aspects of the game than others is not a design flaw, its obvious and logical.
I see what you mean now, but Holl said “first fight” and there’s that 12k WW at 0:30 that cannot be anything else.
Quite right. I just went from the start of his link, which was midway through the video or so. But, at 0:30, there’s clearly a 12k whirlwind against that ranger with only14 stacks of might. Craziness.
At the time where the warrior hits the final (12K) hit on that ranger he has:
16 stacks of might, Quickness, Fury (this was a crit. hit), had unspecified food on, unspecified utility. On top of that, 3 stacks of bloodlust, 5 stacks of Applied Strength.
Assuming full zerk, if you consider possibly ascended… I dont see why anyone’s surprised of a 12K hit against a Ranger.
It just added up, a hit like that would not be possible in a normal sPVP setting. (i think)
What I’d like to see is Open World Events that promote some sort of PvP. Sort of what would happen in Niflhel when both teams try to kill the same beast, where you have to fight over objectives. But I highly doubt this will happen, the game is too “softcore” and the whole philosophy is not to fight over anything.
Perhaps something along the lines of Guild mission challenges, where you need to defend/attack several posts (kinda like CoF p1 at the Gate right before final boss, only on a larger scale, with more complex mechanics).
I’m afraid to ask though, is this CGC pictured as something like what Triple Trouble is now?
If so, I feel most people will opt out, unless there’s some level of progression to it, like if you do it daily for a period of time you could get some sort of unlock, or perhaps specific gear, or some sort of token.
voip – nope. this is what TS, mumble, vent, skype, etc are for. again, no need to waste dev resources when something is already being used and done much better. only improvement i would make here is one i have seen in another game (i forgot which game it was) when you join/make a party there is a button that pops out which you can click and it connects you to a TS server with temporary channel for that party. once party disbands the channel self deletes. but i do not want anet to waste time on voip.
I’m not sure if the API for that would be easier or harder to set up than a full VOIP that’s integrated into the actual game. Also, consider that integration would just make it easier for people to actually use it. Ofc, give them a little speaker button or whatever to be able to mute people in their party.
Pug teams would greatly benefit from this, making PvP a LOT more fun. I’ve even seen this in mobile games, and it works freaking wonders. Would make the community less toxic as well, as voice and tone interpretation go a long ways in promoting empathy from other people. (unless you’re a total kitten ofc).
All the yes, very yes to everything.
+1
The item gotten from the daily chest, Small Bag of Spirit Shards is bugged. Double clicking it won’t do anything. Tried it on 2 characters, nothing happens.
This is so depressing.. been waiting a whole week for nothing. Couldn’t they atleast go out and say "next stream will be 5th juni or something.. kitten it im so unhyped now. :/
This.
EXACTLY.
I dont want to have to set up and auth every pug I play with in PVP to my Mumble. Also, if another player is using TS and I use Mumble, then there will be an argument in which VOIP to use.
If its implemented in-game for party use (during dungeons) and team use (during pvp) then it will all be for the better. Mute buttons on each toon to avoid hearing BS or if you just plain don’t wanna use it.
I’ve seen this implemented even in mobile games (Order and Chaos) and it helped a lot in pug dungeon runs.
No one is “forcing” you to use it, like you said… You can turn it off, like you said you have in other games. Just because YOU don’t want to use it, it doesn’t mean other people will not. You can also individually mute a single player with the click of your mouse. Then the kitten is not in your ear and you can hear the useful people. However you want to do it. It is also not that much effort to set up for a game. Half of the stuff is already in place.
How can you do the exact same thing with set tools. Are you going to ping your TS info to everyone pug on your team? Then hope they get connected and into the channel in time, before delaying the game? It will HELP the game. It has been a huge step forward for every single game that has ever implemented it.
People constantly complain that they only want to Solo Q and shouldn’t have to team up. They then complain because the enemy team is on comms and they are not. This would solve a massive issue and make people very happy. If you choose to turn it off, so be it; that is your choice.
I dont know if this is just me but I’ve noticed that since the last big update, every time I queue for ranked (dunno if that has anything to do with it) sPvP I only get a choice of these maps:
Khylo
Foefire
Nilfhel
Temple
Not that I mind for the most part, but I do miss playing Spiritwatch and even the occasional Courtyard.
And I’m not saying its “rare”, I mean I NEVER get them, not even to choose from.
Did something change here that I missed, or am I just extremely unlucky, or somehow bugged?
This has been happening more and more frequently, it used to go away if I repaired the DAT file, and sometimes when I rebooted, but now its just happening each and every time I try to load up the launcher, even after repairing/rebooting.
Any help would be appreciated, as I’m getting really sick of fumbling around for an hour with this just to be able to log on.

The update has completely nuked my FPS. Where I used to be doing 30-40 FPS (Hoelbrak for instance) I’m now doing 10-20 FPS. I even tried out “best performance” mode and can only get it to run at 26 FPS. The only way I can top 30 FPS is by looking directly at the floor in this mode.
Game’s basically become unplayable at anything other than “best performance” and even then in WvW hitting an enemy zerg the framerate drop makes it impossible.
