[Suggestion] Ability to report players for cheating / exploiting

Sending an email is not a huge hoop to jump through. I am sorry you’re lazy.

You can report people for spamming, selling gold, and botting by simply right-clicking on their name in game. Cheating should not be treated differently. And yes, sending an email with attachments and everything is a completely unnecessary hurdle/hoop that someone has to jump through.

You’re saying i’m lazy for wanting a more efficient and convenient channel to report cheaters than what the current system currently allows? That’s an absolutely ridiculous copout. If you are incapable of contributing anything to this discussion, please refrain from posting further. The cheaters are already benefiting from an obviously broken report system, they don’t need you to inadvertently stand up for them as well.

Not everything needs to be a debate or argument:

Add a 7th report option for CHEATING (with possibly a short text box to allow for a brief description).

That’s it. Nothing more. Problem solved. The end.

That’s exploits@arena.net

Attach an picture, open your documents folder and supply a screenshot, right click on them and find their user name through the reports menu and detail it in your email. GO HOG WILD.

…but for kitten-sake don’t just cry to a forum, that is pointless!

Perhaps if more people brought it up on the forums, and pointed out why its a problem, and why it needs to be fixed, it may actually be addressed.

Or you could remain quiet, and jump through the pointless hoops that the current broken system forces you to do (emailing their support + uploading pictures) which ensures that nothing will be done to fix it. Not sure why this is an argument or even a debate.

Add an option for cheating with a short text box to allow a brief description. Done. Problem solved.

Recording, emailing support, it’s all too much trouble.

All there needs to be is an option to report for CHEATING, and perhaps even text box to allow for a brief description.

Either way, the current system broken and cheaters are getting away with it because there is no channel to properly report them.

This wasn’t teleportation through game mechanics, this was obvious, cartoonish cheating. No doubt about it.

This is the second time now that I’ve run into a blatant cheater in WvW, guy teleporting around like those bots that we’ve all seen, painfully obvious that he’s cheating.

I right click on his name, then report, and my options are:

Botting
Inappropriate Player Name
Spamming
Verbal Abuse
Scamming
Selling Gold.

For the love of god, FIX THIS. None of these options are adequate for this situation, Let us report people for C H E A T I N G.

What am I supposed to do now? I have his user name, but no way to report him.

I disagree, I try to run solo most of time, and have zero issues with my mesmer 1vs1 versus any player. A few are hard to down, such as bunker engineers or necromancers, but if you play right, you will defeat them.

I’ve had many instances where I’ve defeated 2 players attacking me, and even a couple involving 3. The trick with defeating 3 players is to use the environment around you, and (hint) separate them from each other. If I’m being chased by 3 people, I’ll run towards the highest cliff I can find, and comedy ensues.

Mesmer vs thief (WvW)

Thieves have very low HP, and their whole strategy relies on initiating the fight with burst damage. The key to defeating them is to survive the initial burst (if they attack you first) and just DPS them. If you attack them first, then they should go right down without any problems.

A well played thief will kill you with a burst combo regardless of your toughness or vitality.

To survive the initial burst, if they attack you first, you need to separate yourself from the thief immediately, this means either blink, #5 on GS, #4 with focus, or some sort of stealth utility.

Post your stats.

How prevalent is cheating? (not orb hacking)

in WvW

Sunreva.8714

I’m wondering how prevalent cheating is in WvW, as my friends and I just had our first encounter with a cheating thief. Curious if anyone else has experienced this:

Two friends and I were running around enemy territory and we come across a thief (behind the Bluebriar tower) and we attack him. Once we got him to about 30% HP, he suddenly begins to port in circles around us, then within 2 teleports, is over by the south outter gate of the dreaming bay keep. This is not an exaggeration, he covered this distance within 1 second and within 2 teleports.

After he vanished, we stood there dumbfounded at what just took place, we’ve heard of orb cheaters and stuff, but never seen it personally like this actually in combat. About 10 seconds goes by, and he reappears on top of us, teleporting around shooting at us with a bow. Friend (warrior) bull charges him and knocks him down, and we killed him.

The teleportation he was using was identical to the teleportation we’ve all seen botters use. Where the botter just disappears and reappears at a new location, without any sort of animations or anything. That’s what this guy was doing.

The future of GW2 PVP unless this is fixed.

No more strategy or tactics required.

Step 2. Stand on the commander.
Step 3. Win.

Wouldn’t an easier fix be to simply remove the arbitrary limit on AOE damage which is currently capped at 5 players?

The way the mechanics currently work means that players are enticed to turtle together, instead of running away from an AOE, they run/portal INTO IT to mitigate its effectiveness.

This is the issue.

WvW Turtling - Intended or Not?

in WvW

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

I’m talking about groups of players who are deliberately standing on top (turtling) of each other to take advantage of game mechanics which currently, only allows AOE to damage up to 5 targets. The game mechanics currently for AOE damage is limited to only 5 targets.

What this means is, the bigger the group, the exponentially harder it gets to kill. A group of 20, means your AOE’s only hit 5 players. The other 15 will simply revive/pick up whoever gets downed or killed. Players and guilds have taken notice of this stupid tactic, and have increased that number from 20, to instead being 50, or in some cases, 70. When you have 50 or 70 players clumped together on top of each other, that group is practically invulnerable. They do not die, they are essentially immune from AOE damage (heals within the group heal everyone), and they can pick up/revive anyone who gets downed/dies instantaneously.

This cheese tactic is becoming the ONLY tactic in WvW, and sieges/defending points are gradually turning into competitions of which side can turtle better with more people.

Can we get an official response from ArenaNet to confirm whether this is intended or not?

BUGGED Arah Dungeon [Story] / Victory or Death Personal Story

Sunreva.8714

If you do Arah Storymode BEFORE you do the last quest in your Personal Story called ‘Victory or Death’, you are FORCED to repeat the Arah Storymode in order to fully complete the personal story.

This essentially forces you to kill Zhaitan twice, and has got to be a bug. I can’t finish my Personal Story now unless I kill Zhaitan, despite the fact that I already did this one month earlier in the Arah Storymode.

This issue needs to be addressed, the quest is tedious and takes HOURS to complete. It’s ridiculous that players who saved completing their personal story for later are forced to rerun this dungeon in story mode in order to complete the personal story.

About a month ago, some friends and I completed the story version of victory or death, where we killed Zhaitan and everything. At the time, I was only into like level 32 of my personal story quest.

Fast forward a month later. This past week I decided to finish my story, and I’m nearly there. Except now..apparently..at the end of the line..I have a quest called “Victory or Death” where I am asked to kill Zhaitan. Does the game not recognize that I’ve already done this?

Do I have to actually go through this long-tedious quest again to completely finish my personal story?

The botting is out of control, I’m seeing it everywhere. Various PVE areas (certain bots with familiar names have been around for WEEKS) and even in WvW areas (skritt, underwater areas).

These bots are ruining the economy and causing gold inflation to explode. I pity legitimate players who will be forking over a fortune to afford inflated items within 6 months. Base exotic weapons like Dawn have increased in price four-fold in two months. Going from 75ish gold to over 300. In 6 months, it’ll be 900.

Bots are raking in gold and everyone else is paying the price.

The sad state of affairs: Mass botting report.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sunreva.8714

The botting is absolutely out of control, and everyone needs to be focused and emphatically demand that something be done.

THIS is why the gold inflation is utterly blowing up, because these stupid bots are farming more money in 1-2 days than you can conceivably farm in a week.

6 weeks ago base exotic weapons like Dusk were 50-75 gold. Today it’s 315. In 6 months it’ll probably be nearing 1k. This needs to be stopped, or the economy and likewise this game, will utterly fail.

Currently the options are:

… But nothing for CHEATING. Today in WvW I came across a speedhacker, straight up, speedhacker. He was traversing HUGE areas of land within seconds via teleporting. This player was a Ranger, and this is simply not possible.

We need an option to report for cheating, because this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this before.

This concept of skill or strategy in 1vs1 combat goes out the window, we do what we can to win. People just get mad at thieves because they wish they had 1/10th the survivability or damage output that thieves have, but it doesn’t make them OP. Thieves are squishy and if they get zerged you can kill them.

If you are losing 1vs1 to thieves then its because you aren’t playing your class right.

Doubt the thief will be nerfed, unless the stealth mechanics are completely reworked (won’t happen).

Simply put, the risk vs reward regarding the thief is geared all towards the latter. Risk is virtually non-existent due to the stealth, extreme mobility, and maximum control with choosing who to fight, and how that fight will go. The ability to disengage and survive any conflict while simultaneously denying your opponent the ability to due the same—is the thief’s biggest strength. Essentially the thief holds all the cards, where as the opponent holds none.

When the footing is equalized in terms of the person behind the computer screen, a well-played thief will demolish a well-played warrior/mesmer/guardian/whatever, hands down.

It’s true, make a thief, get him up to about level 40 (so you have all your utility unlocks, and enough skill points for dancing daggers) and join the mayhem in world vs world. . My thief is only level 54, but his damage numbers and abilities to survive any situation or catch anyone are simply unmatched.

Damage 1vs1 versus any class, even level 80’s decked in full exotics generally goes like this:
Steal (3,000) —> CnD (4,000) --> backstab (5,000 sometimes 10,000). At this point, the target is either dead or very close to it. At this point, all that remains is heartseeker spam for 3,000…4,000 each. Dead opponent.

This sequence works on all classes, and with a little practice on your timing, you can have it perfected and down so pat that it all occurs within about 5 seconds flat.

In world vs world you will find that no class gives you trouble. Some pointers:

1. Certain classes have bunker builds (warriors, necros, engineers, ect) but their health bars (regardless how big) are still inadequate for dealing with this kind of damage. It’s wash rinse and repeat, and you will win. Period.

2. Mesmers and other Thieves. For me personally, mesmers are the easiest to kill. Once you understand their mechanics and can figure out the real one (the one who is running around, throwing up bubbles, dodging, ect), simply stick to them and they will fall like a sack of bricks. As for other thieves, this is hit or miss. Mainly because thieves have the same great survivability as you do, and thus they can choose to disengage the fight and leave at any time.

3. Group fights. First, use a short bow. Your #1 attack hits multiple targets, your #2 attack is an AOE cluster bomb that hits multiple targets for upwards of 3,000 a pop. This attack is spammable. Second, always have dagger storm as your elite. The genius of this ability is that it’s an exceptionally long AOE that not only hits the enemy for 1,500+ damage a tick, but it also reflects projectiles, lasts approximately 8 full seconds, and cooldown is only 90 seconds. I’ve literally jumped into large group fights, popped this ability, and have downed multiple targets. People don’t pay attention to their health bar, and it works.

Best of all, the thief class possesses the most sought after trait in WvW: Survivability.

In world vs world this concept reigns supreme. No, survivability isn’t about vitality or toughness (see above, they don’t matter when you’re being hit for 5,000 damage in a swing move). Rather, survivability consists of your utilities and ability to disengage the fight if it’s going bad (whether 1vs1 or 10vsYou) and survive the encounter.

This is hands down the best part about the thief class, is that I have the ability to CHOOSE who I will fight, how that fight will go, and only I possess the ability to disengage the fight at any time and book it. I hold all the cards, my opponent holds none. With the shortbow #5 ability, shadowstep, 25% permanent movement speed increase, and a heal that gives stealth, you will not die you can time these right.

Are you being zerged? Pop the heal, shadowstep, shortbow #5 twice in a row. You will be out of combat range (25% speed boost kicks in) and you’re GONE in seconds. This is compounded when you complement other stealth abilities in as well or spec yourself correctly.

If you’re not having fun in WvW or want to try something new, check the thief out. It’s a whole new dimension. Just thought I’d share my experiences and tips.

See you on the battle field!

Do people gravitate to successful WvWvW server?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

Very simple fix:

1. Don’t allow transfers to a server that your present server is currently at war with.
2. Only 1 transfer per month.
3. Server transfer should be fairly expensive (5 gold, whatever).

Another issue with the server transfer system the way it is now, are spies. Certain guilds transfer characters to a server they’re at war with, then proceed to waste supplies and act as spies.

It’s out of control.

bots looting and doing events?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

Honestly the rock/fireworks trick is a waste of your own time. Yes it works on the bots, but really, whats the point? You’re only impeding their progress for maybe and hour, they eventually die (come back without the rock/firearms) and/or someone checks on the computer and simply removes it from their hands.

The solution here is to have reports on bots be looked into and immediately close down the account. These bots are doing their thing for days/weeks on end, farming crafting material and gold. Wasting your time putting fireworks/rocks in their hands is a teeny tiny nuisance to the botter and only means they rake in 98 gold at the end of the week instead of 100.

The accounts need to be banned and shut down ASAP.

bots looting and doing events?

Sunreva.8714

Yes, they are looting, and I’ve confirmed this at the events in cursed shore by placing fireworks and rocks when a pack of monsters dies and they teleport onto it. They instantly will ‘take’ the fireworks or rocks at their feet, and will then hold them for the next few hours.

These bots are gathering loot.

bots looting and doing events?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

Yes, they are doing events. On the cursed shore (level 80 zone) there are two events that are joined by a tunnel, they each ‘activate’ like every 20 minutes or so. Every time I’ve been there with my level 80 character, there are probably 15 bots on each side, the same people, the same names, the same ‘teleporting movements’, every single time, and they’ve been there for -WEEKS-

URGENT: The botting is out of control.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

While leveling my first character to level 80, in the first month of this game, I’ve easily seen and reported dozens upon dozens of botters. I’m sure we’ve all seen the type, they teleport around a particular area and attack anything on sight, and they’re there for WEEKS on end. Certain bot names have stuck in my head even more than a month after I’ve reported them, occasionally I’ll /whisper them to see if they’re online, and they always are.

Anyways, I made a new character, got up to level 26 already. First thing I see when I enter Kessex Hills (at the Triskellion Vale Farm) is literally TEN hunter bots with dual hand axes, running around in a gigantic circle at the farm killing monsters over and over and over and over, they are all doing the identical attacks and they run along the exact same path. I took the time to report every single one them, but what worries me is tomorrow when I recheck the farm, they will all be there. And in 3 days I’ll do the same, and they’ll still be there. And in 1 week, they’ll still be there. These guys are farming crafting materials and likely fencing the items to another account so even if they are banned, they’re still coming out ahead. At the same time this was going on, my friend who was leveling another character as well, and is in the 40’s, says on vent “I just ran across like 10 bots here as well”.

This is getting out of hand, and determining whether a reported individual is a bot can be figured out in literally 5 seconds.

Just venting, but it seems like it’s out of control.
