I agree. It’s a good change, but didn’t go further enough IMO. Hitting the 50% threshold means that as a warrior, I have to sit back and get hit that often? Doesn’t match the berserker theme. I’d rather it proc at 75% or higher, around 85-90% would be ideal.

Hammer 2...

We are not defending it for ignorant reasons. We have no range skills, attack other than hammer 2 and 3. Nor weapon skill that are aoe. I have played for a while with dps rev and against it. It is not op unlike tempest, scrapper burst, dh and condi warrior. Please go play all the class and you will find out that classes have weakness against diff build and that a glass rev dps is as soft as a thief and very weak against cc specially snare.

I agree, the fact that the rev doesn’t have other great options for 1200 range AOE damage, makes up for the moderate damage of the Hammer skills.

Not all of the attacks hit hard, the usual numbers I see with the hammer are:
#1: 4k – 8k each hit
#2: 8k – 16k each hit
#3: 5k – 12k each hit
#5: 8k – 12k each hit

These can all be dodged, and the #1 doesn’t pierce targets. I also assume the really hard hitting numbers (8k with #1, 16k with number 2) are on underlevels.

If anything, the hammer needs to be brought in line with similar ranged burst attacks on other classes. The cooldowns on these skills need to be shortened, and the damage needs to be increased lightly to make up for how easily they can be dodged.

I don’t think its a bug. When your doing the Glider mastery requirement you need to be on the specific class for the achievement to get the update towards the collection. It’s likely you need to kill the treasure mushroom on the specific class that correlates to the specialization collection.

side note; Where did you find your treasure mushroom? been looking around for a few days now to no avail.

I killed it on my elementalist and only received credit for the warrior collection. Hope this bug is fixed.

Found it on the tangled map (in a field with multiple veteran bristleback mobs, whatever they’re called). It runs around and takes a lot of damage to kill.

The WvW forums is overflowing with complaints, threads and posts about it, yet nothing is being done. It’s not even acknowledged. Utter silence. This is a slap in the face to the WvW community, and I’m making this post here as a last-ditch attempt to hopefully garner some attention.

This is out of control and the lack of response or even acknowledgment by ArenaNet regarding this obvious and broken exploit is a slap in the face to the WvW community. If we are stuck with the gimmicky golem changes, is it so much to ask that at least the golem buff EXPLOIT be addressed?

Seriously this is annoying, my friends and I are running around with golems (and we are following the zerg) but we are having difficultly discerning each other in the heat of battle…because we all LOOK THE SAME.

An easy solution to this would be to temporarily make the golem skins simply look like a “bigger” version of our actual characters.

This would also make it so enemies would have to be careful in attacking our group because they will need to take a moment longer to tell who is a player and who is a “golem”.

This is excellent news. The prior significant changes to the trait system were horrific, as merely leveling to 80 wasn’t enough. Then you had to go out and spend gold + hundreds of ADDITIONAL skill points to unlock all the traits/utilities and so forth. Tomorrows system would have made it slightly better, but still required grinding an additional 65 points after level 80. But not anymore. This is the way it should be. You reach level 80, the character is done. No more grinding for skills or traits.

My “new” ele, that is 0 days old, has a corrected mouse cursor radius on AOE staff spells (before the spell is cast).

Both ele’s are on the same account..these screenshots were taken just now at the same spot on Eternal Battlegrounds to show the difference with the incorrect mouse cursor radius on the “older” ele.

A more realistic undertaking - Soloing SMC

in WvW

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

Granted it wasn’t explicitly stated in the first post, but I assumed the logistical absurdity would speak it for itself. The problem is that many WvW achievements are frankly, unobtainable. Unless of course, you commit yourself to flipping SMC within 60 seconds (after RI) nonstop for 40 hours a week, for 2 years. The keep achievement “Ultimate Subjugator” is in a similar boat. You can get that one if you cap a keep every 3 minutes—10 hours per day—7 days per week—365 days per year—you’ll complete it in 1.3 years.

No one will ever complete these, as Malediktus has pointed out.

A more realistic undertaking - Soloing SMC

in WvW

Posted by: Sunreva.8714

Sunreva.8714

Of course it has to be done like this, considering even this method will take 2 YEARS to complete (assuming 40 hr per week effort, and 60 second caps). Any lesser effort will only dramatically increase the time the title/achievement will take to obtain! I mean, unless the intention is for these achievements to take 6, 8, 10 years. Is that the case?

Unless..wait…could something be wrong with how the titles/wvw achievements are designed? Is that a possibility?

in WvW

Sunreva.8714

OK OK, I realize a problem with my previous thread inquiring about a profession that can solo a keep in 3 minutes and that it’ll take 1.3 years to get the Ultimate Subjugator title. Clearly no one wants to play for 70 hours a week, so I’m shooting for a different title that simply requires casual playing.

The Ultimate Liberator title requires capturing Stone Mist Castle 25,000 times. Totally doable, but because there’s only one SMC, I need a partner on the opposing team who can recap it over and over again.

Here’s how this’ll work:

Sequence A: 5 minutes for me to cap it.
Sequence B: 5 minutes for the enemy to recap it.

Each sequence entails waiting approx. 4 minutes for RI to wear off, then 60 seconds to cap it. (((I figure 15 seconds to break down the outer wall/gate, 15 seconds to break down the inner wall/gate, and 30 seconds to Capture)))

OK, so we have that part down. If Sequence A and B occur without problem, this’ll work out to:

1 cap every 10 minutes for me which equates to 6 SMC caps per hour. Assuming I do this 40 hours per week, this is 240 caps weekly. 52 weeks in a year gives me 12,480 yearly. At this rate, I’ll have the title in 2 years, sometime in January 2017.

So given the constraints that RI will pose, whats the best profession to Solo SMC in 60 seconds? Assume 15 seconds per wall/gate, and then 30 seconds to capture the Lord.

Also, I’ll need a volunteer to recap SMC in the same amount of time. Keep in mind this a 40 hour per week effort, and it’ll take 2 years. But hey, that Ultimate Liberator title sure sounds sweet!

Huge undertaking - Fastest way to solo keeps?

You think you can start building a catapult, go back to a camp, return to finish the catapult, take down the outer wall, take down the inner wall, then kill 4 respawning veterans and a champion without being noticed in 150 seconds? And then move to another keep, do the same thing, and hope not to be noticed while also hoping your keep gets retaken?

You’re either trolling or have serious delusions about time. Seriously, 30 seconds travel time?

Oh there are no delusions about time, I think 1.3 years is a fair amount of time to take 100,000 keeps. Of course this undertaking requires capturing 1 keep every 3 minutes, 10 hours a day, 365 days per year, for 1.3 years.

It’s not to bad when you really think about it. Certainly obtainable.

I’m just trying to figure out how the time will be logistically spent, and what profession can manage it.

30 seconds of traveling time between keeps.
30 seconds to build the siege
30 seconds to break down outer wall/gate
30 seconds to break down inner wall/gate
60 seconds to kill Lord / capture keep.

If I can manage to do this sequence perfectly 1 time every 3 minutes, 10 hours per day, for 1.3 years, I’ll have that Ultimate Subjugator title sometime in March/April 2016.

Option B of course, entails more casual play taking 3 keeps an hour, for 10 hours per day, 365 days per year. In this case the title will take 9 years. So..this’ll give you the title sometime in January 2024.

So these are your options for this title, and the other WvW achievements are in the same boat (taking upwards of 10+ years if you play casually).

Unless..wait…could something be wrong with how the titles/wvw achievements are designed? Is that a possibility?

So… You’re gonna farm 10 hours a day for a year and a half, for a title in a game that you don’t anticipate playing in 2 and a half years… Wut?

Wait…I don’t understand, if farming in this manner is a strange, how else are players supposed to get that achievement?

I definitely think capturing one tower every 3-6 minutes is feasible, and the 1.3 years that would take (playing 10 hours daily) isn’t too bad. I mean, the alternative would be to play very casually and take lets say..3 per hour? In that case it would be 30 keeps per day, approx 10,950 per year. At that casual rate the achievement would be done in 9 years.

I REALLY dont think the devs intended the achievement to take 9+ years. That would be ridiculous! But 1.3 years (assuming 1 keep every 3 minutes, 10 hours daily, 365) is more feasible. Don’t you agree?

How can I get this done? What profession would work? Oh, and assume travel time between keeps. So the profession really needs to capture the keep in about 2.5 minutes (assuming 30 secs travel time). Surely this can be done.

Huge undertaking - Fastest way to solo keeps?

Sunreva.8714

I think the Ultimate Subjugator title for WvW is awesome, and I’d really like to have it. I’ve been running the numbers regarding the 100,000 keeps I’ll need to capture, but haven’t quite figured out the best profession to do it with. So my question is, which profession is the quickest at soloing keeps? ((after all, I can’t expect my guild to take 100,000 keeps with me))

Some considerations:

Assuming I’m able to capture 1 keep every 6 minutes, this is a rate of 10 per hour, and 100 per day (I’ll be pulling 10 hours shifts). If I do this every day, that’s 36,500 captured keeps per year, meaning it’ll take approx. 2.7 years to get the achievement. Only problem with this strategy is that it simply takes too long, and I’ll likely be playing different games around June/July 2017.

So…I need to double my efforts. I need a profession that can take 1 keep every 3 minutes, this is a rate of 20 per hour, or 200 per day. If I do this every day, I’ll have the title in 1.3 years—around March/April 2016.

I think March/April 2016 is a much more realistic and plausible goal, and I don’t think it’ll be a problem managing 10 hour daily keep capturing shifts. All I need now is a profession. Any suggestions?

In my opinion, this is a sensible feature that really should be added. I would think players want to duel their friends on realistic footing (with their pve/wvw armor), instead of trying to substitute in spvp which uses amulets for stats and lacks the ability to mix and match combinations. Should be a simple and easy function, click on player—>right click on their avatar—>Request Duel—>other player gets a prompt to either ACCEPT or DECLINE.

If I’m not mistaken an Anet employee said they would be including a dueling option in the future. This was around release time and we’ve never heard anything else about it.

This game is called GUILD WARS and right now there’s no way for two guilds to fight each other without interruptions. Right now people can troll GvGs by just jumping in when two guilds are fighting in the OS area.

If they work out a dueling system they can expand it into a GvG system as well.

Common Mistake.
The game’s name does not come from a (not) advertised gameplay mechanic within it, it comes from this games’ lore.

Anyways,
+1 for getting a dueling option in the OS arena.
+1 for getting a structured GvG mode, regardless of server-origin.
+1 for getting a hobosack fix
oh wait…

Either way, duels should be implemented in a manner that doesn’t limit what our builds/armor stat combinations are.

Why not making the OS arena an istance we can buy in the gem store much like private PvP servers ?

- We can rent the server, same price as PvP.
- Everyone can jump on the server from the WvW control panel in all EU or NA.
- You can set password and rules.
- Everyone can choose side (blue/green/red), so we can also do GvG.
- 0 rewards/exp inside this arena.

Anet makes some profit and we players enjoy the duels/GvGs. Win-Win

If such an item were to be added, it should not be sold on the gem store. If anything, it should be a REWARD for pve players, not a handout to pvpers who already spend all their time in spvp and wvw. I would rather it be an account bound drop item that has limited charges, think of this:

A dueling tray (similar to a food tray) that duel participants can click on and receive a duel buff. This duel buff then allows the player to fight other players who also have the buff. To lengthen the amount of use players can get out of the buff..while it is on they have damage/condition output reduced to only 50% and their health increased to 150%. The dueling tray would have 30 charges, and is only dropped rarely by certain legendary mobs. This would promote both PVE (to obtain the tray) and dueling pvp once it is placed.

The problem is that dueling is only a replica of actual pvp. For example, in magic kingdom…the replica buildings and characters are DESIGNED to be as they are, whereas a dueling option would circumvent the point of that. Spvp is better because the amulets are all you need to equalize players, it’s actually unfair that WvW allows players to mix and match stat combinations and stuff. In all honesty, players would abuse the dueling system much as the LFG tool is abused. Watchler made a good point, if you want dueling and fairness, then go play mario kart or CoD

Support ticket is a waste of time, and reporting the player is a waste of time as well. First, there’s no option specifically for “cheating”, so you’re stuck with options like “botting” and “LFG System Abuse”.

Second, nothing will happen to the cheater anyway. Case in point, there’s a cheater on one particular server who my buddies and I have reported dozens of times over the past two years. This cheater is on our block list, and we’ve monitored him throughout this time. He continues to WvW every night, and when our servers are matched up, it’s a guarantee that we’ll come across him a dozen or so times in that 7-day period, and each time he’s blatantly teleporting/speedcheating. I doubt we’re the only ones who have reported him, so you can imagine the amount of times he’s probably been reported over the YEARS he’s been cheating. Nothing has ever happened to him. As a matter of fact, he’s playing right now.

Anyways, like I was saying, don’t bother wasting your time.

My problem isn’t with the gold, or grind. My problem is you would be like 100 hours in to the game before you can fully control your characters by getting the abilities unlocked.

So it took 100 hours before you can play the way you want?

It is one thing to lock gear behind grind, but I think locking “abilities” behind grind is too much. Abilities is the basic of how you control your characters.

Ya but traits are basic character abilities as well. And to be fair, the skillpoint/mini-quest grind that is already required to unlock ALL the traits on a new character, is more than than what this thread pertains to.

I mean, it already takes 360 skill points to unlock all the traits (unless you want to complete dungeons on story mode and do a bunch of quests), you can’t honestly believe that adding another 45 onto that figure would be game breaking?

In my opinion, 360 is actually too little. It should probably doubled, 720 seems about right. Its not difficult to earn levels and scrolls of knowledge are abundant. Character development should be enveloping and time consuming.

I can tell you that would make players actually have to complete the map which now is a choice.

Yes, you’re right. A choice needs to be offered, similar to the trait unlocks. Either you complete a dungeon on story mode OR you purchase from a vendor. So it’ll look like this:

Mesmers – Make it so that at level 80 you only have 1 of the 3 illusion slots unlocked. For the other two, make it so that they have to grind out 250 dungeon tokens for each one. OR… each illusion slot can be purchased at a vendor for 10 gold + 15 skill points.

Warriors – Make it so that adrenaline bar segments/burst skills are earned through completion of the personal story. OR… each adrenaline bar segment can be purchased at a vendor for 10 gold + 15 skill points.

Rangers – Make it so that before they can charm a pet on a particular map, they have to have that map 100% completed. OR… pet packages (containing multiple animals, but not all) from a vendor for 10 gold + 15 skill points.

Elementalists – make is to that they need to buy “Attunement Crystals” for 10 laurels each at the vendor. At character creation, they start off with 1 randomized attunement. Then, to unlock the other 3, they need to visit the laurel vendor to buy the “Fire Crystal”, “Water Crystal”, etc. OR… attunements can be purchased from a vendor for 10 gold + 15 skill points.

etc, etc, etc.

Now players have a choice, so those who don’t want to grind are satisfied. It costs 360 skill points to unlock all the traits on any given character, oh and 43 gold. With the additional character grinds mentioned above, this would add only a marginal increase in gold + skill point costs. But hey, players have a choice!

and dude, dont’ tell me I have to finish the map before I can have fun. I finished the same maps 24 times already.

Ya but this is irrelevant. After all, completing dungeons on story mode with character X does not unlock a Grandmaster Trait ( that requires it to be completed) on new character Y. If you made 3 new characters and wanted to unlock the grandmaster trait on each character that requires completing Arah Story Mode, you already have to complete that Arah Story Mode three times (ones for each character).

If you finished Arah Story 24 times already, it doesn’t matter. If you make a 25th character, you already have to finish Arah Story Mode a 25th time (or plunk down the gold/skill points for that particular trait at the vendor). So this logically should be applied to all other means of locked-character progression post level 80.

I dont’ even play after I reach lvl80(map completion). And now you are locking every abilities that I can use to have fun before level80.

I can honestly say, I have much less fun doing my map completion because most of my skills/traits is locked.

That’s precisely my point. Clearly the intent as it is now is to make it so that reaching level 80 is not sufficient to get 100% of out your character (in terms of having all traits/utilities unlocked upon reaching level 80).

So the question is, why stop there? Why not lock other aspects of class development health/stamina bars, adrenaline for warriors, attunements for eles, illusion slots for mesmers, etc? All of these should be reexamined and locked in some way, shape, or form. No seriously, seriously now, imagine having to first receive 100% zone completion as a ranger before you can charm a particular animal on that map. Wouldn’t that be just awesome?

Think of how much more you’ll appreciate your character after all your hard work and everything is unlocked. Lets do this!

Mesmers – Make it so that at level 80 you only have 1 of the 3 illusion slots unlocked. For the other two, make it so that they have to grind out dungeons or commit X amount of hours into playing the character.

RIP Mesmer
It takes nightmarish time and effort to kill anything on mesmer as is.

But wouldn’t that be so awesome? Make it so that mesmers need to complete dungeons on explorer mode and collect dungeon tokens to unlock their illusion slots. You know, nothing too bad, like 250 tokens to unlock each one. Sweet!

Awesome!

I didn’t realize how great this system was, until I leveled 2 new characters within the past month to 80. You have two choices when it comes to unlocking your traits, either you can continue grinding “mini quests”, these include quick and simple things such as:

1. Find the grand chest near Scholar Fryxx (bring 3+ mesmer friends with you)
2. Defeat the Risen Priest of Grenth
3. Complete Crucible of Eternity in Story Mode
4. Defeat the Karka Queen
5. Complete the Ruined City of Arah in Story Mode
etc.

OR…you can spend your gold + skill points at the vendor. Luckily though, it only costs 72 skill points to get all the traits in one trait line, or 360 skill points to get all the traits on one character. Not too bad.

As of present, my two “new” level 80’s have probably about 50% of their traits unlocked (remember, skill points are sunk into utilities, heals, elites, ect as well). The lack of having all my traits unlocked means I need to carefully craft builds around what I do have unlocked. I look forward to earning an additional 200+ skill points or grinding out “mini quests” & dungeons for each character to maximize their potential.

But why is this not implemented anywhere else at level 80? Wouldn’t it be fun to require health/stamina pools to requiring grinding as well? Better yet, think of the other possibilities across the different classes:

Mesmers – Make it so that at level 80 you only have 1 of the 3 illusion slots unlocked. For the other two, make it so that they have to grind out dungeons or commit X amount of hours into playing the character.

Warriors – Make it so that adrenaline bar segments/burst skills are earned through completion of the personal story. That would be so exciting!

Rangers – Make it so that before they can charm a pet on a particular map, they have to have that map 100% completed. Bam wham! Instant fun!

I would love to see the system continue to develop down this path, I’m sure new players appreciate it as well.

Warrior adren and thief stealth attacks

simple put, thieves should NOT BE PENALIZED for spamming backstab, this game has too many numbers and stuff already to pay attention to in big fights…why should we now have to see if the opponent has shields or aegis on?? its stupid, and should be fixed. Thieve class is built around stealth and IMO there isn’t enough. An easy fix for this to make everyone happy would be to make it so backstab reapplies stealth on hit, that way the thieves dont have to spam cloak and dagger, which is what people are mad about

Add dueling to OS puzzle arena please.

The option to duel should not be added for the following reasons:

1. If you want to duel, go play counter strike.

2. The OS puzzle arena is not a place for pvp, pvp is disabled there for a reason (there are no amulet vendors there right??? thought so…)

3. Fighting between same-server players should not be allowed. If you want to fight your friend or guild mate, then do a server transfer OR go in PvP where both of you have blanketed-stats through an amulet.

4. I personally don’t want to see the dueling option added. I wouldn’t partake in it, and it wouldn’t lead to anything constructive in the long run.

common sense

"Downed State" frightening for new players?

The bleeding condition is frightening, I find blood repulsive.
The air attunement tree is frightening, I’m scared of lightning
The necromancer class is frightening, I’m deeply religious and find the concept of undead/black magic terrifying.

please remove all of these things, thank you.

Dueling Option - Forgotten?

Sorry, I didn’t buy this game to have to be bothered with duel options in this game, if you want to duel then go play counter strike or poker. Why should I have to be bothered with a check options in the settings??? Wouldn’t it be annoying to have a pve option check? Same thing. As for costume brawls..that is completely different from duels because NO HEALTH BARS ARE BEING USED. I don’t want to see players spamming boons and conditions on each other in lions arch, its annoying. Pls do not implement duels, there is no reason for it because I wouldn’t use it

nerfing crit damage (and beserker builds) is a great idea, there isn’t enough condition bunkers in wvw, they were unrepresented. Hopefully now, we will see condition bunkers become more prevalent

combat has gradually devolved into condition bunkers vs condition bunkers, its going to be hilarious to see thieves traited with with that “50% damage reduction to allies and yourself while in stealth”, who then proceed to drop refuge on friendly that go down (thus making it virtually impossible to cleave them).

Who do you fear when roaming?

I run my own builds, typically gs/staff, staff sword/sword, staff sword/pistol ect, each has its pros and cons vs other classes/builds. But all in all, I don’t fear anything, and the easiest targets ironically, are PU mesmers. Typically they’re built around the mediocre survival PU meta which uses the torch, and as such, their DPS is effectively kitten (regardless if they use a GS on a power/phantasm build). The condition PU mesmers are even easier to bring down, sadly.

The difficult & rare fights, I find, are typically from opponents who have broken the mold and play something out of the ordinary. A skilled opponent who is doing something you don’t anticipate, can throw you for a loop. I’ve seen this a few times with guardians and elementalists that use very unique builds.

RIP power builds in roaming

This was a needed change in WvW, as everyone plays a berserker build. Maybe now there will be some diversity on the battlefield and we will see some more condition builds.

Condition builds are underrepresented in WvW, we need more of them.

More.

I really hate posting about this garbage trash talk, but you blocked me after joining my party to get my name and you say this.

I came after you because you jumped on me after 5v2 my friend and I, apparently you got angry after several deaths since you whispered me with this bad manner.

After you blocked me I asked my friend to whisper you for a 1v1, and you’ve denied. I beat you 1v2 with that mesmer and you keep talking, I don’t understand.

WOW. Is the guy you’re talking about (in the screenshots) that [RA] warrior with the grenth mask? It seems others here have posted their stories/interactions with him, I might as well do the same.

He runs into me when I’m on my unleveled (50ish at the time) ranger, and attacks me north of the stonemist outter wall. He gets destroyed several times in a row, but always barely escapes makes it to the guards before I down him—props to his running skills, he’s adept at whipping out the GS and blowing all his cooldowns to escape when he’s losing sigh

Anyway this game between him and I continues for a while, I tire and head away from the castle, right on cue he follows me out, attacks, and this time I manage to down him + stomp him. Immediately he hits me up with the /invite nonsense, which I decline. He continues spamming the /invite and I just run away, ignoring it. Somehow though he gets my name, and messages me, demanding that I fight him “fairly” and switch my underleveled ranger to a zerker build. Whatever, I’m testing the class out, might as well try it. I tell him “sure” and then I reoutfited the my char with zerker blues/greens. We meet at the same spot, and begin the fight. He still goes down like a sack of potatoes, to which I then stomp him.

Then the troll messages commence by him: “you’re using a handicap by having an underleveled”. …wut?

I just blocked him and just laughed to myself.
