http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Day_and_night
Here’s your problem: “All zones obeying the day-night cycle are synchronized to the same daily schedule.” Meaning if you’re in a map and it’s day time it will also be day time in all the other maps and therefore the LFG tool can’t help you.
On the plus side this also means you don’t have to sit in LA waiting, you can continue playing in whatever zone you want* and when it changes to night time you can go back to LA.
And since the cycle is 70 minutes of daytime followed by 40 minutes of night if your post is accurate you had, at absolute most, 10 more minutes to wait and then 40 minutes to finish whatever you were doing and get to LA.
Edit: forgot my footnote.
*There are some exceptions, maps where it’s always day or always night. These are listed on the wiki page.
Thank you, finally something helpful from someone. Really appreciate it. Too bad I can’t say the same for most of the other responses here.
The aggravation of trying to hunt for a night-time map can only be surpassed by the banality of the responses here.
Karka Exterminator Achievement Requiring Night-time Map is Against ArenaNet’s Philosophy of Respecting Players’ Time
I’ve spent the past hour scouring LFG for players on a night-time map, along with many others. This is ridiculous. We want to play the game, not sit around waiting for the sun to set.
3 hot fixes and still this issue is not fixed… -_-
Can we at least get an acknowledgment from someone in ArenaNet that this is a known issue?
Only Shoulders can be reforged at the moment. This is clearly a bug. As of time of writing, no acknowledgement or fixes.
same issue, the shoulders work okay for me it seems to be the helmets that are an issue
You’re right, the shoulders really can be reforged. This seems to be a bug affecting the headgear and gloves then.
I can’t use Wurmslayer’s Armor in the Mystic Forge to create a new Ascended Armor piece. Is this intended or a bug? I tried using it before and after choosing the stats on the Wurmslayer’s Armor piece and neither worked.
We can all argue until our faces turn blue over whether Dragonhunter is coherent, relevant, or good, as a name, but here are some facts:
1. Whether one likes the name or not is entirely subjective, as we attempt to rationalize our positions over the name, but there’s nothing subjective about the number of people who are in favor or against the name. Just do a comprehensive poll and let the numbers speak for themselves.
2. Everyone who is attempting to defend the merits of the Dragonhunter name, just be honest and ask yourself if you would protest and push for Dragonhunter if the elite spec came out with everything as it is, except the name? Longbow, traps and all but named Witch Hunter, or Avenger, or Templar or whatever the name that most players want, or even gasp the name that actually made the most sense relative to the core concepts of the Guardian?
We can dance in circles all day long, bench-pressing logic, arguing over artistic merit, interpreting symbolism, psychoanalyzing the developers….
OR
we can just be rationale about this and just let the facts speak for themselves. Res ipsa loquitur.
I agree with everything the Starsurfer said in their original post except that I’ll like to point out that the part where you get some silvers, 20 Empyreal Fragments and a ton of EXP only pops up when the final cutscenes are completed for all players.
Although ArenaNet could just fix this by giving each player the reward immediately after they end their own cutscenes, it doesn’t really take away this obsession with efficiency in dungeons.
I sympathize completely with Starsurfer. I’m not very big on the social aspects of MMOs and I don’t like to take the effort to make friends in games, thus, I have to join PUGs on LFG to do my dungeons. Unfortunately, this also means that I’ve yet to see a single cutscene on the hundreds of dungeon runs I’ve done on explorable mode since I’ve started the game (I have Dungeon Master achievement, FYI).
I’m lucky enough to have joined casual groups for Story Mode and seen ‘em all, but I’d love for the chance to really play through all the cutscenes on all the explorable paths for once.
I’m not against the efficiency-obsessed. I’ve crafted a Legendary, 3 sets of Ascended Armor and other hard-to-acquire stuff so I know how much a test of patience it is in the game to run explorables with people who not only don’t know what to do but unfortunately also refuse to listen to instructions from the more experienced ones, as well as people who aren’t geared properly for dungeons.
However, Starsufer’s original points are also valid, which means at the end of the day, it is ArenaNet’s duty to fine-tune the dungeons, such that there’s an incentive for more people to play casually, to enjoy ALL the content that the developers spent time working on, while still maintaining the dungeon’s difficulty.
And lastly, I was very disappointed to see that such a well-thought out and meaningful original post invite such vitriol, from people who can’t disagree without making things personal and that such an important discussion has now descended into a back-and-forth of snide remarks.
The World Boss Sync was an overall failure and undid all the great things that the Feature Pack did for the game.
The verdict is due to my drop in interest in the game as well as a refusal to purchase Gems hence.
1. I was looking forward to the Sync because I thought it would fix the bug issues for bosses like the Dredge Commissar and the Foulbear Chieftain as well as the Temples that were prone to frequent bugs due to the failure mechanic resetting these bosses instead of having to wait for a server update. Also I thought it’d finally fix the problem of having to wait for ages for a zerg to do bosses like Eye of Zhaitan and Taidha Covington.
As we all know now, those bosses were not included in the rotation and it’s even worse for the Temples with the timer APIs no longer working and no reliable way to find out if there’s a zerg to join.
2. There are some great ideas with this sync, namely the reduction of spawns for very difficult bosses, making it easier to catch a zerg for a successful run (for Tequatl and Evolved Wurm). The Karka Queen dies really quick and is difficult to catch a zerg for it given that there’s no pre-event to give early notification on the timer API, so having a set time for it is a good idea. But the complaint I’m seeing everywhere is that 3 spawns a day is too few to accommodate a playing population spread across 24 different time zones. There has to be a happy balance somewhere, and I’m sure it’s north of 3 spawns.
Note: And don’t give me the “Guilds can spawn those bosses anytime!” argument. First, it’s limited only to the hardcore trinity of bosses. 2nd, it alienates the small guilds. This is Guild Wars 2, not Mega-Guilds-Only Wars 2.
3. While the synchronization is great for the hardcore bosses (and unpopular bosses like Eye of Zhaitan and Taidha Covington), it’s terrible for everything else. Instead of taking 3 hours to clear almost 95% of all temples and bosses (leaving only Balthazar temple, Karka Queen, Tequatl, Evolved Wurm, Taidha Covington and Eye of Zhaitan requiring significant waiting), now I can barely clear half of them despite “playing” the entire day.
The worst mistake a game can make is to make its players wait more than play. And even more egregious for a great game like Guild Wars 2 to do that, given all the age-old mistakes MMOs have made that GW2 has managed to correct.
It’s this change that’s turned me off GW2 the most.
4. Where on earth are the missing bosses like Rhendak the Crazed, Eye of Zhaitan, Dredge Commissar, Fire Shaman and Foulbear Chieftain on the World Boss Schedule? Fix it!
5. Please do something about the APIs for players to track temple runs, the Megaserver concept while great for helping players with gathering in a zerg to tackle bosses, is a royal screwjob on players who want to do temple runs.
6. Bosses like Megadestroyer (the stabilization pre-event) and Taidha (the hide-and-seek feature) have terrible bugs that came up after the feature pack patch. Fix it!

Not the first time Claw of Jormag is experiencing issues on Dragonbrand server. About a month ago, large groups of players keep getting disconnected during the fight. And this problem is unique only to Dragonbrand. What is going on, ArenaNet?
Another new build next Tuesday, are all the world bosses going to be fixed already? Why isn’t even the Community Manager giving some kind okittennowledgement that this is being worked on?
Just read the Bug-Fixes section for the patch notes of Origins of Madness, January 21st. Still no fixes for the World Bosses and Temples meta-events. Unacceptable, considering the 6-week break for ArenaNet.
Bumped. FIX THIS ALREADY.
Dredge Commissar, Gates of Arah, Ogre Wars (Foulbear Chieftain), Melandru Temple, Lyssa Temple are bugged on my home server and guest servers.
Getting unacceptable as these are the premier PvE content.
Fix this please.
Lyssa bugged on Sea of Sorrows and Dragonbrand and Melandru bugged on Blackgate. This is getting ridiculous. Can someone from ArenaNet please acknowledge this and start working on a fix?
Found this thread after an incredibly nasty experience minutes ago. All along, I’ve only met friendly and helpful people in GW2, easily the most mature community out of all the MMOs I’ve played.
I was looking on LFG to join dungeon runs to learn about them. In every team, I had the decency to ask if I could stay, declaring that I have no prior experience with the run. And I always avoided joining those that declared they wanted experienced players.
All the teams I had joined before were glad to help me… until this one. This team wanted to run all paths of CoE on explorable mode. After completing the first path, I helped them enter again since it was open on my server.
Shortly after I was kicked out of the dungeon. So I tried to join back again. And time and again I was kicked without anything said on the chat. So I thought I was bugged, and whispered one of the members.
This piece of work, Njord Asbjorn (who probably should call himself As***** instead), told me I was kicked out of the party, that’s why I kept getting dropped from the dungeon.
He said I was less than useful, which I would have accepted and left had they had the courtesy to ask me to leave.
To Njord, I can only say, being in WvW for 4-5 hours before, and fatigue aren’t reasons for you to act like a total jack-a** to people. GW2 isn’t a cutthroat game where disadvantaging others gives you an edge.
I’m really appalled by this encounter. It’s as though the community running dungeons is a different community altogether from the rest of the game.
Yes, I also encountered the same problem at the same spot. Please investigate.
Thank you all, so very much. I found the relevant crafting information. Thanks for the guidance! Cheers!
Hello,
Just a couple of questions:
1.
I saw this Exotic Greatsword called Crystal Guardian that gives +79 to all stats and 10% Crit Damage without the use of jewels. Does the Hammer type have an equivalent of such a weapon?
2.
There is a +10% Influence boost for PvP that guilds can build under the Art of War section. Does this boost affect WvW activities as well?
1. For the past two weeks, the game server (I am on Seas of Sorrows) seems to be experiencing a lot of latency. This was evidenced by the large number of players disconnecting and experiencing lag during world boss fights. I did several tests to ensure it wasn’t my internet connection that was causing the issue, such as running other online applications and asking on the Map Chat if others are experiencing net latency in the game. Please do look into this as I almost missed the Megadestroyer reward, and I DID miss the Inquest Golem Mark II reward due to disconnection and had to do it again.
2. Infusions. I’m not sure if the ArenaNet team has gotten this often, but what is the rationale behind such terrible stats on offensive and defensive infusions? The utility infusions are amazing but the other two types are terrible to say the least and it doesn’t help that only Amulets are allowed to have Utility Infusions. Laurels are not easy to earn and I think it’s only fair if Infusions are stronger than the standard Trinket Upgrade jewels. If changing the stats on Infusions isn’t feasible, please at least add upgrade slots to Ascended Trinkets like the way Ascended Weapons can use Sigils, so we may add decent jewels to the Ascended Trinkets.
3. Unique Tooltip. Items that players can only equip one of, such as the Ring of Red Death in my earlier issue should have a more explicit tooltip than just the “Unique” label. The word ‘unique’ by itself isn’t quite clear on the fact that a player is not allowed to equip more than one of that item on the character. I hope that ArenaNet can address this to avoid unnecessary confusion among players getting Ascended Trinkets.
4. With currencies now being shared across all characters on an account, as well as the permanent harvesting tools being upgraded to account bound status, could ArenaNet look into setting equipment from Soulbound to Account Bound status instead? I am beginning to build secondary characters, to try new professions and I would save a lot of time and resources if I can use some of the equipment from my primary character.
