So in the end ANet is not really fond of altoholics. I guess it’s time to stick with one character…
I still hope, we’ll get more answers to the remaining issues as it would be nice to know what we’re supposed to do about many characters as the system now is not friendly towards more than one character.
Good news everybody! Cleric, Knight, Rampager and a new variation ( precision main + power/tough ) have been added to current Ascended Items!
Thanks Arenanet!!!
Yeah, kudos for that ANet… However! :P There are still some problems that have to be addressed.
1. Unbelievable cost of amulets and earrings with no possibility to gain them somewhere else – when people (like me) play on multiple characters, they cannot afford them, because you need to do 30 dailes or 20 dailes and monthly to get them. I have 3 fully equipped characters that I play everyday and the fourth one is coming soon. To equip amulets ONLY I have to play everyday as if it was a chore, but can’t do anything about it, because that’s the only way.
2. Fractal Capicitators are still missing variations.
3. Lack of possibilites with unwanted rings from dailies. They should be salvagable to get essence or at least something (other backslots should be salvagable as well).
4. Infusion problems with new rings. Even though we can buy new rings now, they cannot be infused, because there’s no recipe for them in the Mystic Toilet.
For now that’s all I remember, but if I remember something else, I’ll surely add them here.
It’s almost a month since I’ve created this topic and we only got a vague tidbit of indormation… It’s quite disappointing.
Instead of “hail” I’d write “at last”.
Well, it seems that no changes will be seen in the upcoming patch… which is (as well as no further information about the state of ascended gear) greatly disappointing.
I’m going to reduce her stealth healing this time around while I consider other possible changes.
When this change is going to kick in?
I’m still waiting for some more answers. Even though I’m thankful for at leasy any reply, it’s still too vague. More info is needed.
We do plan on adding more stat combo to existing ascended item types as well as adding more stat combos to new types.

Thank you very much for the answer! However, there are still some issues that have to be addressed.
1. Will there ever be a possibility to do sth with unwanted rings?
2. Will there be a possibility to gain amulets via another ways, because at this rate it’s… well, too grindy. 20 days of dailes + monthly for 1 amulet is much for hardcore players, whereas for casual players it’s even more troublesome.
I just want to remind you that this topic is NOT about Warrior and his regeneration. This goes especially to Suddenflame. Please, stay on topic and be constructive about it.
Suddenflame, it’s the topic about Ascended gear. If you want to write about warrior, then please go to Warrior subforum or take it to PMs. Thanks.
Thorquist, perhaps you can edit the title of this post to state somewhere that armor combinations are missing? “Ascended amulets and ascended items overall” is pretty vague and doesn’t convey much. Much appreciated!
Almost the whole first post is about it as well as most of the posts in the topic and the current one invites to vaster discussion about Ascended gear in general
And since a moderator wrote in your topic, that it was send to the team I think it’s enough

I’ve just remembered another issue with Ascended gear. What are we supposed to do with not wanted rings? I’ve been stacking them for some time, but just selling them for 4s~ is a bit disappointing. They’re not easy to get (luck/10 days of doing dailies) and yet we cannot even salvage them (and rare backpieces as well, but that’s another story). It would be nice to salvage them for example for mist essence of different tiers.
They have to be very careful with stats. I think Ascended items were not originally in the overall plan and they don’t really fit. You cannot give all stats or you could push things like Crit % chance over 100% or make healing so strong you can outheal anything or toughness so high you take virtually no damage or health pools so high that you can literally tank the boss stood in his face.
You know that Berserker AND Soldier stats are in both amulets and rings, right?
Still no statement from ANet…
So there are 2 issues now.
1. Lack of combinations that we used to know from exotic sets.
2. Hard to obtain amulets – too grindy. Maybe they can be obtained randomly from higher levels’ chest?
Guys, please stop talking about League of Legends, because the topic will be closed by the moderator as “off-topic” or “concerning another game”. Stick to the point, that is – lack os stats variations + begging for ANet’s insight :P
Similar to mine then considering that Ascended was poorly planned and only thrown in a measure to appease the masses. They already said that it was poorly planned and are working on correcting it. I am amazed more of how fast they are working on it.
It’s more like to kitten off the masses (try to remember HUUUUUGE topic about Ascended gear when it was announced) and I don’t know your definition of ‘fast’, but it’s almost 3 months since Ascended rings were introduced.
EDIT: By the way, I think it’s easier to release the same items with different stats (rings) than new ones with the same stats (amulets).

This topic really needs some ANet’s attention. It’s not that we want something to be super strong. It’s something that we want to fit our game styles and builds we worked on.
Well, it seems that the topic will be overlooked as many others that have some kind of criticism/pointing out something wrong, so the only option for me is to left this question unanswered.
What I find absolutely disgusting about all of this is the sheer amount of GRIND associated with getting just ONE amulet. You need to at LEAST complete 1 monthly and 20 dailies in order to get ONE amulet. Why is there a need for such an atrocious amount of grinding? What if we have many characters on our account and want to gear all of them in ascended amulets? What if we have multiple specs that we like to switch between from? I only have two characters at level 80 but I like to play them in different ways…does that mean I have to grind dailies and monthlies for SIX months (2 characters, 3 playstyles per character) just to give them their associated amulets?!?! That is DEFINITELY a REPULSIVE NUMBER.
What I fail to understand is why there was a patch to make dungeon grinding easier (pre patch, you would only receive 30 tokens for the daily…to 60 tokens for the daily after the patch) yet the grind associated with amulets is reflective of the PRE-PATCH DUNGEON fix? This is totally baffling.
Maybe there’s a possibility of gaining them in higher fractals as the rings are. If not, then there’s another issue to be adressed apart from tha lack of many stats combinations.
I had those today as well and completed them.
Hey, I don’t want to self-promote or anything at all, but I’ve made a topic which concerns everything with Ascended items. Feel free to state you opinion there as well. If we can make it big enough then maybe ANet will do something about lacking aspects of the game.

I’d like to hear official statement regarding this as well, but like someone above wrote ’don’t get your hopes up’. It’s not some minor issue, because it directly concerns our endgame and yet it wasn’t discussed by them so far.
I only hope this feedback will force some reaction to the issue.
Also people are missing some of the familiar exotic stat combinations like knight, cleric, carrion and rampager.
This makes me wonder if it’s intentional, like they’re trying to discourage min/max in favor of making the choice between more power OR more precision OR toughness, etc.
Perhaps they’re figuring sub-optimal choices make for interesting game play?
Or perhaps they’re leaving the main stat combos for exotics, so that the ascended gear isn’t a hard and fast replacement for an optimized exotic build. This makes more sense.
Maybe it is intentional or maybe not. The issue still remains and it needs to be pointed out to ANet. Glass cannons and soldier builds are still supported, because they get ascended items.
ANet needs our feedback, because without it there won’t be any changes!
Riverside [DE] is uncontested right now, not sure since when.
Thank you very much! At last I managed to burn my 1kk karma into shards
It’s just incomplete-a work in progress. Sad but true. But as I said, it makes me see no point in acquiring any current available gear, because it doesn’t apply to my builds and playstyle. We were given an Ascended gear teaser of sorts-though it doesn’t really make sense why would they release odd stat combinations before the common ones that people have used for a long while?
I don’t even know what to think about it. FotM is here since the mid-November and it’s almost February. There weren’t any significant changes to the last update, which made everything worse.

I am kinda annoyed…this is really a problem to my eyes…i have a guardian…built tank/support and i love to play this way…many dungeon runs becomes much easier just because of me being here. So i’m just so much annoyed by the fact that there isn’t even ONE set with healing power ! ( ye, i know there’s the celestial attribute, but…it’s a totally useless set, you just get medriocre in everything ).
I know what you feel. It’s the same with me. I’ve built a Guardian with max. healing stats to help my guild or PUG do the dungeons and now I cannot be as good as I was, because I’m losing stats to get agony resist (without which I’d be useless, because dead support is no support at all).
Sadly, support players have met Dark Age of GW2 and I don’t think they will easily overcome these obstacles.
I made a couple of posts about this already. Precision or healing primary stat characters are stuck with no direct upgrade with every ascended realease and devs have not stated why.
Also people are missing some of the familiar exotic stat combinations like knight, cleric, carrion and rampager.
Personally this is a fair sized problem for 2 of my characters.
Those four stats are not the only ones. Look at what we were able to get before and what we can get now. It’s wrong on so many levels of understanding.
Yes, I will collect Laurels and the such, but I see ZERO ascended gear I like/can use with my builds. There’s no point in buying what I won’t use. Exotic will be it for me, until they add more stats combinations (they have LOTS of stats combinations, and some odd at that, which is fine; but just not the ones I need, which were shipped for the normal stuff from day one.)
The lack of ways of acquiring bagpacks is also alarming. I still have a green bagpack because no currently available one fits my playstyle (I could use Magi, but I “need” a Cleric version).
Not complaining that much, but rather disappointed at the lack of variety. Makes me ignore Ascended gear yet once more, because I still feel it’s an unfinished concept (no offense to developers-they probably agree.)
And the worst part about this is that while exotics were easy to obtain, it’s much harder to equip new ascended amulets for more than one character. It’s where the real grind kicks off. “You want new amulet? Log in everyday for the month or do it for 20 days and finish monthly achievement as well”. In my opinion, ANet didn’t really think it through.
Plus, as another thread states, there are no Knights(ppt) stats on these items. My warrior is traited for a glass cannon, but her gear props up her survivability via toughness(knights gear). Take that away and I have to redo my build because I wont be able to take one shot to the chin before going down.
That’s my main point. We are losing some stats, because of the lack of variety in ascended items. I was really excited to see “30 Ascended Amulets to choose from”, but to be honest there’s much less choice. Since every stat gets Utility, Offensive and Defensive variation there’s only 10 or so to choose from. And since we use only 1 amulet those variations are useless.
Well … this is true for a lot of items, especially the trinket slots. Before ascended there wasn’t even an exotic backpack for example, and there’s still no exotic breather. Across the board, stats are “missing”. As far as traits go, some stat pairs don’t always make sense.
But I don’t see that as a bad thing necessarily. It means you’ll have less options to build a min-max character, which, overall, is better for the game. Balancing and designing around min-max is very boring. In many cases, reducing options increases creativity.
While I agree with you to some extent, you wrote that the game is still lacking some cases, and that’s the point of this topic
Seriously? No one has any opinion at all?
Any uncontested temple in EU?
So now, when we know about new ascended items (amulets) I start to worry.
ANet was stating over and over again that they want us to play in our own way, but they’re limiting our builds with new ascended items that do not get all attributes variations. It was true before they released ascended items. Exotic sets varied alot and you could made your build around it. At the moment there are 18 different attribute variations, but for example we can get backpieces in ONLY 5 possible variations – this number is overwhelming, because it clearly shows how much our choice is limited if we want to get the best stats possible.
The same thing goes with ascended amulets and rings. I was really looking forward to this update, because I was anticipating new variations of rings to be added as well. The lack of these stats hurt alot of builds. For now there are ONLY 6 attributes – Soldier, Wayfarer, Cavalier, Rabid, Berserker and Celestial. With the new amulets. that may not fit our builds, we are deprived of 4 items of our builds. Lack of Cleric, Rampager, Knight and so on, and so on clearly hits many players.
Does ANet want us to change our builds? Do they prioritise some builds over the others? Should we start to change our builds now and get accustomed to the new way of playing? And last, but not least, am I the only one who’s feeling that ANet is heading in the wrong direction?
What are your thoughts about the whole situation?
EDIT: Grammar.
(edited by Thorquist.8126)
It’s not working in ascalon fractal as well.
What about new types of rings and backslots? I’m still waiting for Cleric’s variation.
Well, I don’t mind not knowing the exploits, but how about you tell us which bugs you fixed? Some of them are really annoying and in some cases we don’t even know something was not working properly and discard it (for example, some traits/skills/whatever).
This one phrase is of no information and you could as well write “we did something, but don’t want to tell you”.
Cleric set is used by many people. And now those people suffer thanks to Ascended sh…atterer :P Thank you very much for adding them to the game. /sarcasm
Yeah, you can really notice now, that some builds are favoured while the othres are clearly not. It’s just dumb, that there are no Cleric, Knight, Carrion, Rampager, Valkyrie and Apothecary versions of rings (and in some cases backslots.)
Had the same problem. When the hammer was dropped mobs started spawning and spawning and spawning until we died, lol.
I’ve lost over 1,1k as well.
What ‘balance’ are you talking about? lol
I’ve heard it’s going to be huge and I really would like to read them as soon as possible :<
I think that someone who exploited the game is now laughing his/hers kitten off now. Just to put such an order you need aroung 190g, so yeah… Good for him. And most likely, nothing bad will happen to him/her.
This isn’t GW1 where the level cap will be the same forever.
And why do you think so? I actually hope, there won’t be any changes in level cap.
I’ve managed to level an alt to 38 without dying and nothing changed… Sadface.jpg
My bet is that we, rangers, are punished because of bots and that’s the main reason why people hate this class now. It’s not really out fault that they can’t deal with bots and should not nerf us, because the can’t.
Yeah, sure. Sometimes nerf is needed, but now without a buff for something else. Ranger is quite bugged (not like a necro, but still), and nerfs without something in return are just… plain unreasonable.
I feel that I’ve been lied to as others. I understand upgrading gear in exapansions of any sort, but this game is too young. It has so many problems from technical side (bugs, invisible armies in WvW, not working DEs, some exploits, different issues with sPvP/tPvP, etc.) and now, the update which makes the community full of rage.
I don’t think that ANet really reads through all of the feedback, because it’s really clear, that something is wrong with the new gear. If it wasn’t, there would only be possitive posts here, but it’s quite the other way around.
I know it may be too soon to speculate if it’s a really bad move, because we don’t know how ANet wants to deal with it. Nevertheless, every game is nothing without it’s players. Just a simple husk without it’s core.
Hope you won’t destroy your game and good luck, ANet.
