  • Character Info: Asura Male Mesmer
  • Issue: My weapons are not placed correctly with Aetherblade Armor. Like the the greatsword in this screenshot inside the Aetherblade Light Pants (I think is a problem with all 2-handed weapon, backs and asura, please shift them a little above). Another similar issue with the pants: when equipped, the sword is stuck inside my hand and not by my side.

The Good and the Bad of Living World

This is my personal feedback about LW. In my opinion, with each release Arenanet have been trying to improve the LW/LS and sometimes they were on the right road. For this reason I want to emphasize what are the good and bad points and analyze them.

Temporary Achievements of LS – I think it was right to separate Queen’s Jubilee and Queen’s Gauntlet Achievement. However, It would be more appropriate that the temporary ones are related only to the story and should not be too challenging. The important thing is that these Achievements should represent the presence during these events. The most challenging achievements can be inserted without problems in recurring or permanent content (for example related to the recent invasions).

About Living Story – It’s nice to see how every two weeks the story goes on. I just hope that the story will bind in the future with the main story, the elder dragons. It has a huge potential and honestly these recent events have lost that fantasy touch (the elections, the steampunk theme, ecc..).

New Areas – Firstly, they must be complete. Take the time you need to create them and put unbugged events, but try to make them like the other maps, with Vista, Skill Points and Point of Interests. The problem of Southsun Cove is that none goes there because they don’t have any reason. In order to not create problems with the world’s completion, put a particular achievement for 100% map completion.

“Where life goes—so, too, should you.” – You have done a wonderful job with the bazaar. With the continuation of the Living story we went to explore new zones and their achievements were mainly on that map. As I said before the map was not totally complete, but it is a step forward. I think the Living Story should take us to new territories. Besides, in this way you don’t have conflicts in creating events in existing maps.

Dynamic Events and Meta Events – This is one of the strengths of Guild Wars 2. With the invasions you have added a very good content, keep on! The best way to show how alive the world is in fact take advantage of the dynamic events.

Dungeons and Istances – Apart from some initial bugs, regarding the realization there is nothing to say. The only thing is to make them permanent (area like craigstead) or repeatable (maybe with a hystorian NPC, without the possibility to recover the achievement). It is also a good idea to revisit old temporary dungeons in the fractal.

Permanent changes in the World – Do not be afraid to change the world! The construction of the pavilion was a good addition, but you can do more! Earthquakes that destroy parts of an existing map, new types of enemies that settle on Tyria, great revelations that threaten all.. I know it did not go very well but the One-Time Event, with the invasion of Karkas and the recapture of the island.. and then the repopulation made in “The Secret of Southsun Cove”.. Although Southsun cove was the part that I didn’t like particularly for the story, there were really major changes! You should make a Living Story in which there is an instance where these changes occur. Once this instance was over, people will enter in the new modified map. Only during the event there will be this split old-map (people haven’t done the istance)/new-map (people have done the istance). At the end of the LS’s chapter all people will access to the new map and the old one will no longer exist (a bit like the old southsun cove). For those who want to relive that istance there will be an Historian NPC (as mentioned above).

Please, add an option to disable/enable footprints of legendary weapons.. I’m not sure but I think, when i’m stealthed, the footprints are visible to other enemies in WvW..

We know that Jormag corrupt the people by promising them power. Perhaps for this reason, in order to not obscure their “new vision” then Jormag prevents to corrupt female norn (instead he kills them) because if the Son of Svanir had some feelings of love towards them then the Jormag’s grip would be more feeble.
It’s a way to prevent this, in almost all fantasy stories such feelings can break curses, etc. ..

And if they added this new condition, torment, as a replacement for bleeding for Thieves, Mesmer and Necro? In this way, only certain classes can put bleeding (such as warrior or ranger, ecc..) and we will have a greater diversity in condition build without being game breaking.. (I personally would like this idea)

I know how to work now, what I describe happened five minutes before the patch gets loaded.. At the beginning you could choose to do the story mode with your friends (although it shouldn’t be so), and then, in the explorable, mines weren’t visible unless you use 1, and the boss had these additional mechanical.

I’m sorry I can not show you any proof.. I had to do at least one screen!

As the title says, I think that the version of Null we see now is not the same that the developers thought. Before the patch I was able to enter the explorable istance and Null had “several attacks” that now are lacking:

1- He created a shield that made him immune to damage and to remove it you had to go in a exploding mine.
2- He gains a “Super Speed Buff” which increase a lot his movement speed and to remove it you had to go in a caltrop mine.
3- He stopped and began to heal and to remove it you had to go in a poison mine.

I am sorry that these features are not present. The challenge would surely have been more exciting.

I am not against the fractal.

My idea originates from the fact that now the low-medium maps are depopulated. Like I said, it would be a way to ensure that every map, even old ones, can be useful.. Even when, in the future, there will be new areas! ^^

The more time that passes, the more I realize the game is starting to concentrate its content on instances (particularly fractal of the mist). I believe that Guild Wars 2 has an enormous potential, especially on dynamic events but, except the initial months, all the maps are becoming more empty, making one of the most innovative content untapped. So I would suggest this idea that I believe would make the game more living and would enhance the open world’s content.

For each type of map (Ascalon, Shiverpeak, Maguuma, ecc..), when you complete an event, you get rewarded with a specific token (1 Event = 1 Token). These tokens can be used at a particular merchant to buy weapons and armor sets. Each region has its own unique weapon and armor set modeled according to the theme of the zone. Also for each map there is a cap (for example, if the cap is 30 and there are 4 Maguuma’s Map, you can do 120 token/day).

In this way there would be an incentive to return to the old maps (used now only for leveling and exploring). I think it isn’t a difficult idea to implement, and I think it’s an effective solution to enhance the open world, focused on instances at the moment (and in a MMO is important to take advantage of this.)

A method to upgrade our armor

Hi,
I’m an old GW1 player and this new “Ascended Gear” are causing a lot of complain (and I totally understand their reasons but I’m not here for that). Instead, I suggest a method to solve this in a very simple way:

Add a method to upgrade our exotic equipment in a ascended equipment.

In this way, the ascended gear is only a further step to reach the max equip, so we don’t have to throw away all the work we have done.

I hope that you listen the feedback from the community and find a solution, don’t change this MMO in a traditional MMO (like the manifesto said)

It was my first experience in a Dungeon in Explorable Mode (never done before) We did Ascalonian Catacombs twice, once the Howling King (option 1), and followed by the the Ghost Eater (option 2).

13 hours ago, first path, more than one hour and 30 token.
11 hours ago, second path, about one hour and 6 token.

My other party member get the full reward (120 token)..

So I’m not the only one ^^
My real problem isn’t the “farm” of token.. if Arenanet had said “the dungeons armor are difficult to get and need a lot of effort to get one because they are end-game items” I would have accepted.. But I only want to know what are the reasons that led to this change, when they have said they don’t want to force a player to grind..

Before, I would like to get 3 or 4 armour from dungeons (and some weapons too).. now, due to lack of time, I’ll hope to get at least one armor and only one weapon.. and I didn’t think the other characters..

If someone want a complete armor set + one weapon, it needs ~1500 token, and with 30 token for a single run we have to do 50 run. I’m not talking about difficulty, it’s great and very challenging, but it’s not rewarding. Arenanet changed the mentality of the dungeon, time ago they said one run = one piece of armor. What is the reason?

“As far as the mechanics of the drop system is concerned, Flannum says “It’s more of a badge system, so this is something that we did in Guild Wars 1 as well. Our basic philosophy is that you should never complete a piece of content and get something you don’t want. So it’s going to be the case where you go through and are guaranteed to get a piece of gear that you didn’t have before, and that you’re going to want.” So, you’re guaranteed to get a piece of gear every time you do a dungeon? “Yes.” Sweet. More specifically, we were told that weapons will come from story mode (one run = one weapon) and the rest of your armor will be earned from explorable mode.”

I’m a casual player and I can play only 2-3 hours a day, in this way I have to do only dungeon for two months to get only a single set of armor + weapon.. I hope for some changes, if not I will accept it and move on, I know there are different way to get an exotic armor, but I’d like to know why have you changed your initial idea..

Except this, I love the dungeons, their design and their difficulty! Thanks again for making such a beautiful game..
